Work Text:
A few months after everything with the ferry, the vulture and losing contact with Mr. Stark, Peter’s aunt May died and he was alone. Peter very quickly made many major decisions about what he was going to do, one, he took the required tests to skip the rest of high school and applied and got into MIT (which somehow helped him avoid foster care) paying for the school with the money he had been saving for his Top surgery and the small college fund Ben had started two years ago, and two, Peter made the decision to hang up the spider-suit… forever.
Around a year into his first year at MIT, which was mostly spent moping around in his lonesome, Peter met a boy, a really freakin cute boy named Harley Keener and after about four weeks of back and forth flirting the two began dating and were practically inseparable. Although Peter kept in contact with Ned, MJ and some other friends at Midtown, he still felt bad for abandoning them but now with Harley there, he felt better about his decisions.
Peter told Harley everything, including spider-man because Peter loved Harley, and Harley loved Peter. Harley took Peter to Tennesse for holidays and he very quickly became a part of the Keener household, Harley’s mother becoming the first mother figure he’s had since May, and Abby, Harley’s little sister became his baby sister who he would protect with his life. In their final year of uni, on their third-anniversary date, Harley proposed to Peter, asking him to spend the rest of their lives together, and Peter said yes.
The wedding was set during the two weeks the couple would be back in Rose Hill during the summer post-graduation and it was the happiest day of their lives, Peter was able to fly in MJ and Ned as well as Harry and Gwen who he had become close friends with at MIT, so both of their friends and family were there to celebrate the supremely happy couple and even though they both were still young, anyone who knew the two would say they had a healthier and happier relationship than most adult couples. Instead of Peter or Harley taking the other’s name the two made the decision to hyphenate their names so they could both honour their loved ones.
After their honeymoon/family vacation instead of returning to Massachusetts, the newly-weds moved into their new condo in Manhattan so they could be close to their new jobs at Oscorp, which Harry had recently taken control of and now Harley, Peter, Gwen, and Harry all get to work together. Peter was the happiest he had been in years maybe more so than when he still went out as Spider-Man but he’d stopped caring about that years ago now because he had a family, maybe it wasn’t blood but Peter couldn’t care less.
Then Thanos happened and MJ and Ned were gone, which made Peter feel guilty because the first thing he’d felt after finding out that Abby Keener, Emily Keener, Harry Osborn, Gwen Stacy and Harley Parker-Keener were alive and Peter was so incredibly relieved that he hadn’t lost his family again but the guilt from not being as upset as he should’ve been about two people he had known since he was a kid almost broke him and if he didn’t have Harley, Peter didn’t know what would’ve happened to him.
The decision to have a kid was one of the easiest ones they had ever made but at the same time it was a difficult one, mainly their issues were one, should they really be raising a kid in what basically was a post-apocalyptic world and two, Peter and Harley wanted their kid biologically so Peter said he would stop hormone therapy so that he would get pregnant and their kid would be theirs in everything, even blood. At first, Harley rejected the idea completely because he knew how doing that could affect Peter mentally and physically but after hundreds of reassurances, Peter and Harley came to the agreement that they would try and if Peter got pregnant and the first kid was too much for Peter’s mental and physical health, they wouldn’t have a second… at least not biologically.
Two months after Peter stopped his hormone therapy and the married couple started trying, Peter was pregnant. The pregnancy was very difficult for both Peter and Harley because all Harley could do was sit beside Peter and comfort him throughout the extreme morning sickness and dysphoria episodes, by the time they were over halfway through the pregnancy Peter decided he wouldn’t be able to have another kid this way after the first. Although they had initially chosen to wait to find out the gender of their baby, both Peter and Harley were very impatient and found out at the third-last ultrasound that they would be having a baby girl.
On September Thirteenth, 2019, Hannah May Parker-Keener was born at 5lbs and 11oz via cesarean section and Harley and Peter just couldn’t stop smiling at the adorable little baby with bright blue eyes like Harley, Peter’s ears, nose, and the most adorable tuft of brown hair. Emily and Abby flew to the city as soon as they heard Peter was in labour and stayed for two weeks, helping the new parents get everything together so they were ready to be on their own and Harley spent the entire time that Peter was on bed rest, glued to his mother’s side constantly getting parenting pointers from her. Harry gave the two of them a month off and then sent them work they could do at home as well as visiting the new parents once a week with Gwen in tow, the duo were named Aunt Gwen and Uncle Harry.
Hannah grew up in the next four years to be the kindest and happiest little girl ever, Peter and Harley, after talking to Harry were able to come to an agreement where they only had to come into work for urgent matters so they could be home with their little baby girl as much as possible, not wanting to miss a single detail of Hannah’s life. When the snap was reversed it was like the final puzzle piece fell into place and Peter was able to introduce MJ and Ned to his daughter the two taking on the rolls of Aunt MJ and Uncle Ned and even though five years had passed Peter felt like the relationship they had only improved from what it was before.
When Harley suggested that Peter take Hannah to the park that day, Peter had no idea what he was about to get back into because after almost eight or nine years he never thought that he would see that face up close again.
“Hannah Banana, Papa has to go to work for a meeting so you and I are going to the park, how does that sound?” Peter asked in a soft tone and the little girl nodded with a smile as he picked her up and littered her face with kisses.
“Da-haha Daddy stahp!” Hannah got out through her fit of giggles and the constant attack of kisses to her face, Peter placed the girl back on the ground before brushing then tying her long brown curls into low pigtails and dressing the girl in a colourful, flowy shirt, a pair of shorts and some very glittery sneakers.
“You ready little Han Solo?” Peter offered his hand to the four-year-old who grinned back at him and reached for his hand, Peter immediately lifting the girl onto his side and checking his pockets and walking out the door.
“To the park, Daddy!” Peter kissed the girl’s cheek
“To the Park Hannah!” and the two set off for the playground Harley and Pete have been taking Hannah to since she was big enough to use the equipment.
When the two got to the playground there were a few kids on the equipment and Peter told Hannah to be safe then set her on the grass where she then hugged his leg before running off, Peter smiled at his daughter before turning to the three benches available, one was full, another was soaking, and the third held a face Peter hadn’t seen in about nine years now, with not many other options Peter approached.
“You know, out of all the places I would have thought I’d see you again, this is probably the last place I expected” Peter said loudly enough for the man to hear him and in seconds he was looking straight into the eyes of the one and only Tony Stark who looked equally as shocked as Peter felt.
“Peter? Kid?” Tony said in a moment of shock and plain confusion, Peter just smirked and took the seat beside the man
“You look good Mr. Stark, I mean for an old man” the younger man joked and peeked at the man in the corner of his vision who was playing offended before chuckling
“Ouch, you too kid what’ve you been up to in the past… what nine years?” Tony turned to Peter with a questioning look on his face
“Do you want like, most recent or full story”
“Umm, well uh how’s your aunt?” Peter turned to Tony with a brow raised.
“Full story then” Peter sighed pausing a second to look at Hannah before continuing “okay, well about three or four months after I last saw you May passed”
the older man inhaled somewhat sharply “shit kid” he whispered, “so uh, what happened foster care?”
“Nah, I ended up deciding to just test out of high school and applied for MIT and went there until I graduated just before everything… well you know”
“Were you?” Peter knew what the man was asking
“No, I got lucky for like the first time in my life and while I did lose my friends from when I was little, none of the people I’ve come to call family were part of the fifty percent so…” Peter ran his hand through his hair and sighed thinking about it before turning to Tony “Thank you, for bringing everyone back” he smiled at the man
Tony smiled back “I-I’m glad you didn’t, for what it’s worth”
“So how’s your post-blip life, that’s what they call it now right?”
“Yeah, I think that’s it” the older man chuckled “It’s nice, you know having everyone back and being able to live without constantly thinking about all the people it affected” Peter nodded knowing exactly what he was talking about. “Do you have a girlfriend or something waiting at home for you Pete?”
Peter smirked at the man “My Husband has a meeting at work right now and we only go in when it’s urgent otherwise we work from home so, no my husband is not waiting up for me at the moment” Tony looked shocked for a second before collecting himself.
“That’s-that’s great kid, how long have you been married?”
“Well, we got married the summer right before the blip so five or so years now but we have been together for just under eight” Peter answered.
“Damn kid, you’ve been married longer than me, I’m sure he’s a great guy” Peter turned to look at Tony and smiled warmly
“Yeah, he is, kind of a smart ass but yeah” Peter joked and looked down at his lap, thinking of Harley made him feel warm and fuzzy inside “so uh, you married Miss Potts right?”
“Yeah, it’s been four-ish years now, but anyways what are you doing for work?” Tony said, changing the subject.
“Oh well, around the end of uni my friend took over his dad’s company and gave us all jobs so we could work together, he even opened an engineering sector for my husband so I run the chemical and bioengineering branch, Gwen runs most of the business side, Harry, of course, is the CEO and owner, and Harley runs the engineering and mechanics sector and like I said Harley and I work from home unless we absolutely have to be there” Peter looked up at Tony when he was finished talking and the man looked like he was figuring something out.
“Okay hold up for a second” Peter nodded, slightly amused “One, your friend Harry the CEO, are you seriously talking about Harry Osborn right now?” Tony looked almost horrified at the implication of his company’s rival
Peter chuckled “Yes Harry is Harry Osborn, he was my roommate at MIT and is now basically my best friend”
“Damn, well, oh yeah the second thing your husband, you uh said his name is Harley right” Peter nodded and smirked, knowing Tony was realizing who he is married to “that wouldn’t happen to be Harley-”
Peter cut the man off “Harley Keener, yup and he told me all about how he saved your ass back in 2013”
Tony scoffs “I wouldn’t say saved” Peter raises an eyebrow “how is he, you said you met at MIT as well?”
“Yeah, Harls is great and his family is just amazing, Emily Keener was the first maternal figure I’ve had since May and honestly I would protect Abigail Keener with my life, we fly out there our fly them here whenever we can. Harley and I got married in Rose Hill” Tony smiled warmly at how the kid talked about his found family
“That’s amazing, kid, I’m glad you’re alright”
“So what’s the great Tony Stark doing at a children’s park?” Peter questioned
“I could say the same to you” the older man answered, obviously avoiding the question.
Before Peter could say anything though, a small set of footsteps seemed to be coming towards them and both men looked up, Peter smiled and Tony was confused at the little girl who was visible not Morgan running towards them and only got more confused when the girl ran up to Peter and attached herself to the kid’s leg.
“Well hello, Miss Hannah May what can I do for you” Peter asked kindly as he lifted the girl of his leg and onto his lap.
“dah-I’m hungry”
“You’re hungry?” Peter question with a grin and Hannah nodded “wow I’m so sorry Hungry, I thought I was talking to Hannah, I should introduce myself then, my name is Daddy” Peter feigned shock and Hannah started to giggle as Tony tried to process the interaction.
“No Daddy, I am Hannah but I feel hungry do you have any food?” the little girl said like it was the most obvious thing in the world and Peter reached into his pocket for the snack he brought, it was fruit gummies which upon seeing, Hannah’s eyes lit up.
Once Peter opened the small bag and handed them to the girl she shoved two into her mouth almost instantly “Yum” Peter smiled at the girl and opened his mouth for the little girl to shove a gummy into his mouth and when the little hand drew away Peter closed his mouth fast, shocking the girl.
Peter placed his daughter on the ground “go play some more okay Hannah Banana” he tapped the girls back lightly and she ran off “And if you drop any PLEASE DON’T EAT THEM”
“So… daughter huh?” Peter turned back to Tony, having almost forgotten he was there.
“Oh uh yeah, she’s amazing” Peter smiled slightly.
“Did you guys adopt or…” Tony seemed still a little freaked at the concept that two people he knew as kids had a kid.
“Oh no, we never had this conversation did we” Peter sighed mentally preparing himself for this talk “I’m trans Mr. Stark, I was born a girl so when Harley and I decided to have a kid I made the decision to pause my hormone therapy, Harley hated the idea because he knew how it would affect me both mentally and physically so in the end, we agreed that if the pregnancy was too hard on me we wouldn’t have a second, not biologically at least” Peter looked up at the older man who’s eyes were wide.
“So you were pregnant?” Peter nodded “oh wow and what was that like?” Tony was obviously avoiding the mention of Peter being trans
“It’s not something I would do again, I had some of the worst morning sickness throughout the entire nine months and I was in one of the worst places mentally I had ever been and if Harley hadn’t been there... I definitely won’t be doing it again but Hannah was worth it so I’m not sorry for putting myself through it” Peter sighed
“That’s definitely not something I would have ever guessed, I was there for Pepper’s pregnancy with Morgan but we were told she had it easy” Tony said sounding slightly relieved and Peter’s eyes lit up at the mention of children.
“You have a kid?!” the younger man questioned, unable to keep the curiosity out of his voice, then he realized something “Wait… how on earth did you keep a child out of the public”
“People stopped paying as much attention when half the world died and was brought back”
“Aaahhh, that makes sense is that why you’re here, watching your kid?” Peter asked jokingly.
“No, I’m here because I love going to small parks to watch children, of course I’m here to watch Morgan, god it took forever to find a small park that isn’t always overpopulated with children” Peter snorted at Tony’s sarcastic tone.
“Yup that’s New York for you, Harley and I seriously considered moving to Rose Hill but we couldn’t leave our work and our friends” Peter sighed
