Work Text:
You were never just a car!
You were leather, protection, security.
You were childhood, rebellion, memory.
In your back seat, bedtime stories were told, tears were wiped away, quilts were shared.
You were the anchor in rough waters.
You saw tears, fear, anger.
You heard arguments, singing, laughter.
Where motel rooms changed daily, you were familiarity.
You brought the injured to safety, and lost souls home.
You never judged, you never looked back.
You heard lies, apologies, confessions.
From the first scream, to the last breath, you were their companion.
You shared joy, and gave comfort.
You were never just a car.
You were home.
