Chapter Text
“You’ve been accepted into the Hebrion Academy.”
It had been a few weeks since that letter had arrived and you’ve finally moved into the school dorms. Sure they may be cramped and all your stuff barely fit in and *maybe* you got put in the beta class due to not being rich… Actually, yeah, you have no counterargument, but it’s still a nationally recognized school, and having some privacy is better than none, and there’s also one more thing.
There’s also that boy.
A blue haired boy you’ve seen walking around on occasion, he can’t be taller than 5 foot even and always seems to be carrying some sort of sword around, quite odd, but at the same time he’s unbearably cute.
But! You don’t have time to think about a random boy you’ve never spoken to! You really should be getting to class right now-
Thump
Fuckin’ ow, I guess that’s what you get for practically running in the hallssssoh hey, it’s him.
Oh god it’s him.
It’s the cute boy you’ve been thinking about and he is closer than ever and… He’s not fallen over? Did you just bump into him while running and not move him? Is he stronger than he looks?
“I’m so sorry! I wasn’t watching where I was going!” He says while giving out a hand to help you get up.
“No no.” You say as you stand up “If anything it’s my fault for running.”
“Hrnghhh…” He groans for a bit while scratching his head before seemingly coming to a realization of some sort “Oh! I know! How about I treat you to lunch as an apology?”
“Oh! Uh… Sure? I’d decline but I don’t have enough money to do so.”
“Great!” He replies with a smile “My name’s Pram! I have to get going now but I’ll see you at the cafeteria later!” He says and immediately starts running away
You would like to stay there dumbfounded and process the fact that you’re gonna have lunch with the cute boy you’ve been thinking about, but your moment gets cut short by the fact that the bell rings and you get reminded of the fact that you really have to get to class.
Of course, even after you do (barely) get to class in time, no actual studying is done due to the fact that you can’t get Pram’s smile out of your head.
You find yourself constantly checking your phone for the time, leg bouncing in anticipation for lunch with a cute boy. And also just lunch, you’re very hungry.
As soon as the bell rings you are practically sprinting to the cafeteria, nearly forgetting all your things in excitement.
When you enter the cafeteria you can see that… He’s not there. After the initial shock you realize though that he’s probably not sprinting at full speed and is instead walking over like a normal human would.
After a few minutes of standing around awkwardly waiting, you manage to spot him coming out of a crowd of people, with a sandwich in each hand, and a smile upon seeing where you are.
Seeing this you tap your chest to make sure you’re not having a heart attack, due to the fact that it just skipped 5 beats in a row.
He hands you one and you both sit down at a table, he’s in front of you and… Oh, oh he is so small, you already knew this but you’ve only internalized it just now.
You both eat in silence for a bit, before you feel the need to strike up some sort of conversation, so you go for the easiest ice breaker you can think of.
“Why are you always carrying some sort of sword around?” You ask, hoping he doesn’t take it as some sort of insult.
Immediately, his eyes light up and he seems very excited, putting down his sandwich and pulling out the sword seemingly out of nowhere.
“Oh! You must mean this! It’s a fencing foil I carry around in case I ever get the itch to practice! Plus I’m part of the fencing club so I also carry it to never forget it whenever we have practice.”
“Oh? You’re part of the fencing club?” You’ve got it, the perfect opportunity to spend some more time with him. “Would you mind if I ever went to watch you train? I’m currently unsure of what club to join, if any at all.”
“Oh! Sure, we can go right now!” He responds as he gets up, grabbing his fancy sword and somehow holstering it behind his back.
“Wait, right now?” You respond with surprise and internal glee “Like, right this instant?
“Yeah! I’ve got practice in a bit so you can come and watch!”
“Oh, sure! I don’t have anything going on now so let’s go!” Is the lie you tell as you get up and grab your sandwich, in reality you have another class but you can probably skip it, it’s for the greater good.
You both head out, and, knowingly or not, Pram is holding your wrist guiding you to the fencing club.
You, on the other hand, are knowingly internally freaking out at this sudden development.
As the both of you arrive, Pram goes into a sideroom to get changed. Meanwhile you sit down and contemplate how you didn’t just have a heart attack when he grabbed your wrist.
As he comes out, he somehow only looks more cute, dressed in all white, with a single glove and his meshed mask pulled up. And of course, he’s smiling.
He gets onto a mat that already has someone there waiting and gets into position, looking at you briefly and yelling “Be sure to watch closely!” Before pulling his mask down and starting to fence.
You do as he says for maybe 30 minutes, just staring intensely even though you have absolutely no clue as to what’s happening or how high the level is.
This is until the other person steps off, either tired or needing to do something else. And while you do get the idea of stepping up and fencing with Pram, you dismiss it almost immediately.
Pram, however, is far braver than you are.
“Hey! Do you wanna get up here and fence with me?” He yells as he pulls his mask up.
“Uh…” You look around only to find no one else near “Me? I mean, are you sure?”
“Yeah!” He answers with a smile “No better way of knowing if you’d like to join the club than to actually fence! You can go get changed over there! We’ve got plenty of spares.” He says as he points to the same sideroom he went into with his sword.
“Alright!” You answer as you get up and walk into that room.
It’s pretty small, and the suits are all on top of each other, folded in tall cubby holes.
Surprisingly and thankfully, there’s one of your size left, which you put on along with the mask.
There is a slight issue of grabbing the right sword, there’s three types and you have no clue which is the right one, so you grab whatever looks closest to what Pram was holding earlier today.
You come out and get on the same mat as Pram, trying to mimic his stance as best as you can.
“Please go easy on me.” Is what you say as you pull down your mask
“No promises!” Is what he answers with as he pulls down his.
...Let’s just say you stood absolutely no chance against him, you didn’t manage to get a single hit in for the hour or so that you both fought. He, on the other hand, managed to get 70, or, well, that’s as far as your count went before you stopped counting.
With one last hit, you fall onto the mat, exhausted and having been fighting for the last 15 minutes on willpower alone.
You pull up your mask to see Pram smiling down at you and holding out his hand to help you up “So? How do you like fencing?”
“Well.” You answer as you get up with his help “I’ll have to say, it’s fun but I don’t think I’m some sort of prodigy at it.”
He laughs “Well, even if you’re not a prodigy I had a lot of fun today!” He looks at you for a bit after saying that before getting hit by some sort of realization “Would you like to hang out sometime? Doesn’t have to be fencing, we can just go to a park or someplace like it.”
...HUH??? Did he just ask you out on a date? No that can’t be right, okay just… Just play it cool.
“Oh! Sure! I have quite a bit of free time so going to a park would be nice!” Is, again, the lie you tell, for in reality you have quite a few classes and quite a bit of homework, but again, it is for the greater good.
Pram is seemingly delighted at your answer “Nice! How does tomorrow at 6 sound? I’ll meet you outside school!”
“Oh! Yeah I’m available then!” You’re genuienely surprised you haven’t fainted during this interaction.
“Alright! It’s a date!” Pram answers with a smile.
Ah… That’s it isn’t it, I’ve died and gone to heaven? Is that what’s going on now? Is what goes through your mind as you stare off into nothingness for what feels like a few seconds, but when you come back to reality, Pram is already dressed back into his normal clothes and is walking out, waving goodbye at you with a smile.
