Chapter Text
Dick wasn't sure what to expect when Bruce called him. He'd been distracted, asking him to come back to the manor. There had been mild panic from Alfred and Jason, but by the time he'd reached his car they'd calmed down. Jason tugged on their bond and he stepped on the gas.
The hall was silent, a few Tim feathers on the ground. Uneasy he continued through the manor to the nest where he knew Tim was staying. The rest of the family wasn't what he was expecting. He jumped up and perched on the edge before shifting again. There was another child in the nest and Tim was hidden under someone's wings completely out of sight.
"Stop staring and get in," Jason muttered. He pulled the wing stretched across to rest on the child's shoulders and waved Dick forward.
"Dick this is Damian," Bruce introduced. "Damian is my son. Damian, this is Dick."
Dick glances to his brother, paying attention to the bonds at the statement, but neither show anything. "It's nice to meet you," He greets finally turning back to Damian. The more he looks the more he realizes that Bruce actually meant his son. He doesn't like that another child has been brought into the house and into the nest without telling him. He isn't going to make a scene now, but he's going to talk to Bruce later.
"Where's Tim?" Dick asks falling back on his concern especially with the feathers he found.
Bruce nods to his side and lifts his wing to show Tim tucked against him asleep. His wings are slightly fluffed, but they've relaxed to rest on his back. "It would be best to bond with Damian sooner rather than later."
Dick is careful not to let his emotions flood the bond and scare anyone, but he glares at Bruce's announcement. This is more than the family pack. It's also the bat pack. His younger brother is hurt, his other brother barely interacts regularly without help from Tim and Alfred, and now Bruce wants to throw another kid into that mess without even discussing it. Dick's not going to lie and say he'd turn the kid down, but he'd like to be involved in the decision.
"There's going to be no argument," Bruce states returning the glare and looking to Dick and Jason. "Once Tim's awake Damian is joining the pack."
Under Bruce's wing was warm and soft and one of the safest places Tim knows. That doesn't mean he's going to just sleep. There's still a stranger in the nest, someone who is actually Bruce's kid and not just the neighbor who's own parents left. He listens to them talk about the bonding and how they're waiting for him to wake up. He doesn't understand why they're waiting, the bond won't be any different and he doesn't need to do anything. Within the pack Bruce controls the bonds. Tim's just going to be there and have another bond added.
Forcefully he pushes his feathers back and straightens his wings before pushing away from Bruce's side. Dick's quick to shuffle over and check on him, "How're you doing?" He looks behind him to check his wings, fingers skimming a few balding patches with a long exhale.
"Fine."
They don't believe him, of course they don't, but Tim's not going to give them anything else to worry about. He sits straighter and pulls his shoulders back and meets Damian's gaze and then Bruce's. "We'll just wait for Alfred."
"No need to wait Master Bruce," Alfred states settling into the nest beside Damian.
"Damian," Bruce calls and opens his wings to wrap around the pack. Damian shuffles in front of him and waits. "You will be a part of Wayne pack. This will be your nest and home to come back to just as the rest of us. Will you accept the bond?"
"Yes father," Damian stated and bowed his head.
Bruce reached to cup the back of Damian's neck and pinched, mentally reaching out with his bonds. Something different touched the edge of his mind and he latched on, pulling it towards him and his family. Damian's bond snapped into place along side the others. Warm and sure though a little uneasy is all wrapped away quickly replaced by the feeling of being content.
