Chapter Text
Tori POV
So, it's been a few days since I've read Cat's letter, and I have decided to call her. I want to be absolutely clear with her that I don't have feelings for her anymore. But that I would like for us to stay friends. I've already lost her as my friend once in the past, but now that we are adults we have the chance to make things right. It's pointless to hold a grudge on her for something that happened 10 years ago when we were kids.
The only reason I'm hesitating to call her is that there's no way I will call Cat without telling Jade first. When I told her about the letter she was about to go straight to Cat's apartment and do who knows what to her... Probably shave her head clean, just like she did once back in high school. Would she really do that again now that we are grown ups? Better not test her.
Anyway I was able to calm my girlfriend down luckily. But I didn't tell her about my decision to call Cat yet. But I think I will now.
We decided to meet up at Trina's gym this time to avoid the papz.
"Damn that hot yoga class kicked my butt." Jade is telling me as we just took a hot yoga's class at the gym. Both of us are sweating and have flushed red faces right now.
"Yeah tell me about it..." I agree with her.
"At least your sister wasn't around toda... Oh shit, I've talked too soon." Jade says. I follow her gaze as I see Trina who appears to have just arrived and to be approaching us.
"Well well well, the couple of the moment came to my gym!" she teases us.
"Yeah we took an hot yoga class." I simply tell her.
"I can see that. Good." she says to me, before looking at Jade.
"Jade." she smirks.
"Trina." Jade replies crossing her arms.
"I go by full name now, when in public, you should know that. Call me Katrina." my sisters tells her. I roll my eyes with a sigh and look at Jade with an apologetic expression.
"Really, that's your full name? I thought it was Trinex." Jade tells Trina, and I muffle a laugh covering my mouth with one hand.
"Who the hell is called Trinex?" Trina asks her.
"I don't know, maybe someone who was destined to become as annoying as you." Jade tells her.
"Annoying? You mean gorgeous, famous, fit, powerful and successful. Cause that's what I am right now." Trina smirks smugly at her.
"But you do admit that your real name is Trinex, though?" Jade continues and I laugh aloud now.
Trina just looks at her with a scowl "I see you still have your wicked sense of humor. I'll never know what my sister sees in you. I mean your assets apart..." she says glancing at Jade's chest.
"Trina!" I scold my sister, but she ignores me, walking away from us.
"Seeing her again was so nice." Jade says. I giggle knowing that she is joking
"Oh really?"
"Yeah. About as nice as to see an elephant in agony." Jade replies making me laugh again.
As we walk to the locker room I ask her.
"What are you doing today?"
"I have to write the script for my movie." Jade says.
"When are you going to make me read that love? You're making me so curious!" I tell her.
"When it will be finished babe." she replies with a wink.
"Alright." I say taking her hand in mine and intertwining our fingers before pecking her cheek with a tender kiss.
She smiles and I decide to tell her about Cat now "So... Jade. I've been thinking about Cat and I think we should meet her and..."
"Not this again! Tori I'm too old to still have to worry about other girls hitting on the person I'm dating. I had enough of that in high school already, when I was with Beck." she says
"Oh please you don't need to worry about anything, how many times do I have to tell you that I'm in love with you? Just hear me out! I think we should meet her, cause maybe she deserves a second chance to be our friends again. I mean you and her were always good friends and the only reason you're fighting right now is because of me" I tell her.
"No the reason we're fighting right now is because Cat is still in love with my current girlfriend." Jade replies.
"Except I'm not in love with her. She just needs to understand that once and for all. And then just like she said in her letter, she is willing to be just my friend. Our friend." I tell Jade.
She seems to think about it as she looks away from me. Then she sighs and says "Fine, but if she tries anything with you..."
"I'm positive she won't... But if she does even after I tell her I just want to be friends with her, then we will know she can't keep her word and it's not worthy to try to still be friends with her." I say
She nods smiling at me "That's my girl"
I start grinning happily at her "You know I am." I say before kissing her.

Cat POV
I can't believe it! It's been a few days since I left my letter for Tori at her house and just when I was starting to lose hope that she would call me, she did! She said she wanted to meet me so I invited her at my house for a tea this afternoon. I dressed up casual but nicely with a v-neck pink shirt and skinny jeans and got my hair up in a ponytail and now I'm taking several breaths to calm myself down. God I feel nervous and excited just like back when we started dating when we were kids. She didn't tell me at the phone what is her decision, whether she just wants to be friends with me or... more. I don't want to get my hopes too up though. And I promised her I would have been fine either way. More than fine in case she wants more but still... I just don't want to lose her again completely so I will be very happy even if she just wants to be my friend after everything that happened between us in the past.
I hear someone ringing at my door and with one last long breath I go open it smiling. I can't wait to see Tori aga...
As I open the door I see Tori is there... with Jade. After our last talk at the phone I can't say I'm too happy to see her right now.
"Hi Cat" Tori greets me.
"Tori... I'm glad you came." I look at her and then at Jade and I see she is glaring at me. I scowl back at her. I guess my disappointment for her presence is clearly visible on my face, cause she says:
"What? You really thought I was gonna send my girlfriend to talk with her ex, who still happens to be in love with her, alone?" she asks me crossing her arms.
"I was just... Hoping to be able to talk with Tori alone today. That's all." I pout.
"So you could try to kiss her against her will again?" Jade asks me with the same venom she had in her voice when we talked at the phone.
"Jade, please..." Tori says placing an hand on her shoulder before looking back at me "Can we come in?"
I nod my smile returning as my eyes meet Tori's again "Of course, please come in."
As they enter Tori looks around and says "You got a nice place here."
"Thanks. It's okay you know" I say as I lead them to the kitchen. "Sit down!" I say motioning at the table.
They both take a seat and I bring them two mugs of tea that I have just made.
"None for me" Jade says. Tori gives her a look and she just rolls her eyes looking away.
I just nod and take the mug for myself as I also sit down. We drink silently for a bit. I glance at Tori from time to time. She is so cute as she blows cool air on her tea. She hasn't changed, she used to do that too back when we were kids. I can't help but smile looking at her. But my smile falls as I practically feel Jade's eyes shooting daggers at me.
"I'm so happy you're here. Both of you. Even if now you hate me Jade." I tell them looking from Tori to Jade.
"She doesn't hate you." Tori replies.
"No, I just tend to get really pissed off when my supposedly best friends tries to kiss my girlfriend." Jade says.
"I'm sorry! Okay? I really am." I tell her.
"Huh yeah sure." Jade just says.
"It's good to see you too Cat. I mean it's been so long and I think I've been too harsh on you when you came to my house a few days ago..." Tori is saying when Jade interjects.
"Too harsh? She tried to shove her tongue down your throat!"
"Jade..."
"No, she is right to be mad, Tori. I should be the one to apologize. Your reaction was totally understandable. For everything not just the kiss... for breaking up with you and marrying Robbie even if I loved you." I tell her trying to hold back my tears, my voice trembling a little bit.
"It's okay Cat. Really. We are adults now. And I want to put all of this behind us. Like you said in your letter, I don't want to lose you again either. I'm in love with Jade now, but I want to be your friends Cat. I really want to. And I don't want you and Jade to fight because of me." Tori says motioning between Jade and I.
I look down for a moment and then nod. I love Tori, and I don't want to lose her again. Like I wrote her in my letter, I will learn to be her friend again if this is what she wants. I'm not going to do the same mistake twice. I won't lose her both as my girlfriend and my friend again.
"Okay. I really want to be your friend too Tori. I want all of us to be friends again." I say smiling and grabbing Tori and Jade's hand with both of mine. Tori smiles at me while Jade looks still a bit skeptic.
"Are we cool Jade?" I ask her hesitantly after a bit.
"Will you try to steal my girlfriend again?" she asks me.
I roll my eyes "No, I promise I won't."
"Then we are cool" Jade replies.
I smile happily at them and squeeze their hands a little, before looking back at Tori.
"So Tori, what have you been up to? I mean a part from releasing your album, which I loved so much!" I tell her.
"Thanks Cat! But unfortunately, Neutronium Records didn't really treat me right when I dropped my first album. So I left their label, and after I had Maddy I decided to pretty much quit with my dream of becoming a pop star" she says looking completely fine with it but I know her too well, I can see she still regrets it a little bit.
"I'm sorry to hear that Tor, but I think you should have totally continued writing music. You were so good at that. I get that with a little kid it might not have been easy, but you should really think about it now that Maddy is older. I mean I became a fan of you the moment I saw your performance at that showcase for Hollywood Arts, when you replaced Trina! Performing is in your blood Tori!" I tell her.
She giggles, flattered, brushing her hair with one hand "Well thank you Cat"
"Tori still performs. She works at a classy restaurant with live music downtown, the Drusilla's and she is the best singer of the place." Jade interjects.
I look at her surprised then back at Tori "Really? Well that's great!"
"It pays, but yeah I really like it there." Tori tells me
"Can I come see you sing one of these days? If Jade hasn't anything against it, I mean" I say glancing at Jade.
Tori laughs "Oh don't worry, Jade will be fine, right babe?"
Jade doesn't reply so Tori insists "Riiight?"
"Yeah, I guess." Jade finally says.
I nod unconvinced. She still looks like she doesn't trust me...
"How's your family? Your brother, is he okay?" Tori asks me after a bit.
"Yeah they all still live here in LA. I'm not really talking with my parents anymore... Ever since I told them the reason I divorced from Robbie." I say looking down at my now empty mug.
"I'm sorry. You told them...?" Tori tries to ask me but I quickly shake my head no.
"No, I didn't tell them it was because of you, but I told them I liked women. As expected they didn't take it too well... But I'm an adult now. I don't need their approval. I want to live my own life." I say determined.
Tori reaches for my hand and gives it a little squeeze "I'm happy to hear that Cat."
I look at her hand on mine and smile widely before nodding at her. I glance at Jade again and see she doesn't look happy at all from our interaction. Tori must have noticed too cause she quickly lets my hand go.
To interrupt the awkward moment I continue to say "I'm still in contact with my brother though. He got way better now."
"I'm happy to hear that! What does he do?" Tori asks me.
"He works as a limo driver." I tell her.
"So cool! I'm glad he is doing fine!" Tori says.
"Thanks!" I reply with a smile.
Tori smiles back "And what about you? I heard you got casted for several musical and plays in Broadway!"
I blush "Mostly just small parts, but... yeah" I giggle
"And I've also heard that you teach at Hollywood Arts now!" she continues
"Yeah, Cat teaches music, right?" Jade asks me. I look at her and I can see she is still angry. Being an actress she is pretty good at masking it, but I know her too well. The way she is smiling, while her eyes are still glaring at me proves it. Not to mention she already knows I teach music, she just asked me a question to not feel left out from my conversation with Tori right now, which is clearly making her pretty jealous.
I nod pretending I didn't notice all of this.
"Wow, so cool! How is it like to teach at Hollywood Arts after having been a student of the school?" Tori continues to ask me clearly interested.
"Well it was like a blast from the past to be back there after so many years! And I love being a teacher. The students are still as talented as they were back in the days. Sikowitz also still teaches and he is still as extravagant as always!" I say giggling.
Tori joins me "I bet! We need to go see him a at Hollywood Arts, one of these days, what do you think hun?" she asks Jade, who just nods. She seems to struggle always more to pretend to be fine, but Tori doesn't seem to notice or maybe she is hoping she will relax eventually, as we keep catching up, but knowing Jade I doubt that. If anything her jealousy could only get worse... But what can I do to prove her she has no reason to be jealous and that I'm determined to get over my feelings for Tori to be friends with both of them?
"By the way I can't believe you still have your redhair after all these years Cat!" Tori continues distracting me from my thoughts and taking a loose lock of my long red hair between her fingers.
I smile at her "Yeah well, you know I always loved this color for my hair. I had actually stopped dying them for a couple of years when I was getting a few gigs in Broadway, but too many people were taking me for Ariana Grande and I mean, it's flattering and all to know I look like such a famous popstar, but I'm my own person you know!" I explain
"I totally understand, you don't know how many people still think to this day that I'm Shelby Marx's twin sister or something." Tori says.
"She would have been definitely a better sibling to you than Ms. Fitness Katrina Vega." Jade jokes.
Tori laughs shaking her head and playfully slapping her arm.
Jade seems to relax a little so I smile too as I continue to say "Anyway I guess my red hair are what makes me so... unique. And I didn't want to change this particular about myself." I explain
"I have to agree, your redhair have always made you special kitty-Cat..." she says and I beam at her hearing Tori saying that and calling me with one of the pet names she was using for me, when we were dating. She blushes and clears her throat "I mean Cat." she glances at Jade who looks furious at her.
"Kitty Cat? Should I leave you two alone?" Jade asks her.
"Oh Jade don't be ridiculous..." Tori tells her current girlfriend.
"I'm being ridiculous? You're flirting with your 'special' kitty-Cat, in front of me and I'm being ridiculous?" Jade says raising her voice and mimicking Tori's voice in a southern bell accent as she says the word special. She still does that after all these years even now that they are dating? I look between them mortified.
"Jade, I'm sure Tori wasn't..."
"Shut up you little minx!" Jade yells at me making me flinch.
"Jade, please! Did you really think I was flirting with Cat?" Tori asks her shocked.
"I don't know. All I know is that I won't be witnessing to you two getting back together right in front of me." Jade says shooting up from her chair and walking away from my kitchen.
"Jade wait! Are you serious right now? Jade!" Tori says following her. I get up too, feeling so sorry for what just happened.
I can feel Tori only wants to be friends with me cause she is in love with Jade now, and even if this isn't what I originally wanted, I'm fine with it as long as she is happy. But we can't help the chemistry her and I always had together, so I can see why Jade got jealous.
Oh man, I hope I didn't cause them too many problems... A part of me still (definitely) wants to be with Tori I can't deny that. But I don't want to do to Jade what I did years ago when I changed the phone number she had written to Tori, to make sure she would have never called them... I'm much more mature now to see that they were always destined to be together. So I don't want to be the cause of their break up. I had my chance to be Tori's girlfriend, but I've lost it years ago. Tori just wants to be friends with me now. So I have to put the feelings I still have for Tori aside, and show her that I can be a good friend to her. As I follow Jade and Tori in my living room, I know what I have to do to make things right between all of us...
A/N: Sorry for the cliffhanger, this fic is on Hiatus atm. I do plan to finish it sometimes in the future though.
