Work Text:

The bells chimed as the bride walked down the aisle with her father. The people on the sides, smiling, tore up. The bride smiled as she looked at the people she had spent her fulfilled years with. She began reminiscing about everything they had gone through, as well as everything they accomplished.

The bride looked at the altar to see the person she’d done everything with, the person who made her happy every time she saw them, her lover.

Slowly, she walked up to the altar, tears emerging from her eyes. This is it. She was going to be with the person she cherished and adored.

Glancing to her side, she saw her. Tendo Maya, the person she would call her rival back then, the person she admired and envied. She smiled, tears almost emerging from her eyes. She looked happy for her but also hurt.

Facing forward, she met the groom. The person whom she’d spent her years with, the person who she loved and held dear.

Tendo Maya couldn’t help but feel empty. She loved her, but she couldn’t say it. She wanted to be with her, but she was never close to her. Maya couldn’t do anything but smile, smile at the person whom she loved, regret the times she spent with her but couldn’t say it.

“I love you”

Claudine smiled as he took off her veil. The priest prayed, asking for blessings, asking both the groom and bride the question.

“Do you take Claudine as your lawfully wedded wife?”

That was what Maya expected to answer when she thought Claudine loved her. The crowd filled the church with claps, congratulating the wedded couple. Maya couldn’t feel anything, ‘This is it, she’s gone.’ she thought. ‘I lost you, to him’ She said smiling.

“I lose.”

Before walking down the altar, she looked behind to see Claudine one more time, happy to be with him. Tears finally emerged from Maya’s eyes.

“You finally beat me, ma Claudine.”
