Chapter 1: Lambert's
Now that Jaskier had gone upstairs to the shared room and it wasn’t exactly closing time anywhere, he looked to the manticore Alpha.
“Will you help me get him a gift? For that whole courting shit?”
“Well, if you think it’s shit maybe you shouldn’t do it.” Xefinia points out.
“And miss out on him? I think it’s just a waste of resources but if he wants it, I’ll get it. I’m a gentleman after all.”
“Yeah right.” Xefinia snorts but follows him and to her great amusement and… a bit of fear, they head to the blacksmith’s. Looks like both had the same idea, and she wondered what exactly Lambert planned to get the Omega who surely didn’t listen and is singing in the tavern- she knows. She hears his song.
“I told him not to do that.” Lambert grumbles.
“No you didn’t, you told him to go upstairs. And he did.” Xefinia reminds and snorts when Lambert looks back with a withering glare. “So what do you want to get him?”
“A dagger, he needs to be able to defend himself. It’s practical.” Lambert argues.
“Never said it wasn’t.” Xefinia counters as they step in, when the blacksmith turns she puts a finger to her lips in a ‘shh’ manner with a wink. The smithy wisely keeps shut and welcomes Lambert into his shop.
“Looking for a dagger. Something functional, preferably with something like a blue jewel on it. Sapphire.” Lambert huffs, trying not to look at the smith as his neck turns red.
“I’ve got a couple options, sir.” The smith has a small smile. “Let me get them.”
Lambert looked around as he waited, as did Xefinia. She didn’t get much of a chance before but now she could see the craftsmanship. They all were truly beautiful, and she made note to come down and purchase more often. She looked back over at the man when he came back, and Lambert moved over to the daggers he was currently placing on the counter for him to inspect.
She moved closer and the hilt of each blade is objectively beautiful. Each has various blue gemstones on them. The one Lambert picked up first is a black leather hilt, a nice oval sapphire just below where the blade ends with silver swirled around and a flower at the butt of it. He held it firmly, to make sure it would be good for Jaskier to hold.
“This have a sheath?” Lambert asked.
“Yessir.” The smith nodded, showing the black sheath, lined with similar silver swirls. Sleek and elegant. Lambert’s lips pressed together and he looked to Xefinia.
“I think it suits him, it’s nice and elegant. Something he no doubt would appreciate. The gem very nearly matches his eyes. Get him a proper strap, perhaps, so he can keep it in better reach but otherwise I think you’ve chosen well, wolf.” Xenia smiled kindly.
“Good, good…. I’ll have her pick it up in the morning before we go.” He placed the coin on the counter.
“Of course, sir.” The blacksmith nodded. He calls after the retreating witchers. "Have a good day."
“Well, now where to?” Xefinia asked, once outside the smith’s, and Lambert looked at her .
Chapter 2: Geralt
When Jaskier and Lambert left with Xefinia, an urgent message came through and both Geralt and Eskel had to travel via portal to the location. Geralt doesn’t remember much of why they’re going. Just that it involves a portal, a fact that made him frown heavily.
“I know you don’t like it, but it’s a must.” Eskel plactates, touching Geralt’s shoulder. The warlord grunted, he knows this. Doesn’t mean he has to like the nauseous feeling he gets every time he steps through a portal. The only saving grace, in his opinion, is that Eskel is going with him.
It made him feel better, especially since they won’t be back when Lambert and Jaskier return. He knows that it’ll worry his Beta and Omega, but he also knows Lambert will keep Jaskier safe. Eskel seems to share the sentiment as they cross the portal standing so close they could probably be inside each other. That was fine, it helped him get through the unpleasant experience.
“You keep frowning like that, your face will get stuck.” Eskel leans to tease in his ear. Geralt glanced at his mate with a non committal hum. A staple in Geralt language, and it made Eskel laugh.
Chapter 3: Eskel
Eskel figured out what he'd like to get their courting Omega. Some white rabbit gloves, soft and comfortable but practical for their harsh living environment. Besides, it seemed Jaskier liked to wear gloves when he could.
