Summary
Growing up, Shulk struggles with health problems, trouble focusing and socializing at school, and a foster father who doesn’t always listen. But he makes fast friends with Fiora and Reyn, and Dunban, his idol since he was a young child, promises to train him if he makes it into the Colony 9 Defence Force. As he spends more time with Dunban, Shulk soon becomes uncomfortably aware that his mentor’s alcohol addiction is destroying him from the inside, hurting not just Fiora, but himself. Shulk seeks the courage to help his mentor, because underneath and in spite of it all, he still sees the man whose strength he admired as a child.
