For A Brief Moment

Chapter 4: "A stranger in strange lands, ugh this is so cliche."

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

It felt like you were falling through an endless loop.

Strange voices along with visions swarmed in your head. Yet, none of them were clear enough for you to understand.

A terrible ache spread throughout your body. When you awoke, rising in alarm.

The room was strange. The walls held parchments with what looked like Arabic texts. And along the room on the ground was a large rug along with multiple throw pillows. It looked like one of those rooms that would appear in movies about the crusades.

And in the air there was a heavy smell of incense. It wasn't unpleasant, quite the contrary. It felt calming, almost lulling you back to sleep. It reminded you of your moth-

'No, remember what the woman said' you shook your head in an attempt to get ahold of your thoughts.

But unfortunately, that was the last thing you could do at the time. If you stayed longer than necessary you would surely be caught. And that's the last thing you need.

Taking one last look at the enchanting room. A sigh manages to escape through your lips. Exhaustion was starting to catch up to you. You needed to find a way out and soon.

~~~
You swiftly ran through what felt like an never ending corridor. So far no one had spotted you.
You whispered a thankful prayer in the back of you head as you continued on your way.
You then spotted a door. Silently, you made your way towards it. Placing your palms carefully in front. It felt rough and slightly heavier than any other door you had ever felt or seen in your life. Intricate patterns decorated the sides. And along them were pillars with banners which held a symbol that was eerily similar to one you had seen before.
*Flashback*
Your mother had asked for your help in cleaning the attic. You had gladly accepted the task with joy. She had after all promised to treat you to some chocolate afterwards, and who could ever say no to chocolate. Definitely not you.
*time skip*
It had taken you a few hours, but the room was finally clean. Well, nearly clean. All that was left were some dusty looking boxes that were on top of the shelf and afterwards you could enjoy your sweet treats.
You tried to reach the top with no success. It appears that even with your tall height you couldn't reach. Your cheeks puffed up with annoyance. Before you finally stopped, taking a look a your surroundings.
Perhaps you could find something to put underneath and be able to prop your self and reach. Yet, no success. And you didn't want to get in trouble if you accidentally broke anything. And you also didn't want to go back down to the first floor and get a chair.
(You're on the 4 floor and there's too many damn stairs so there's absolutely no way in hell you would do that.)
"Screw it." You muttered underneath your breath. You could do it. All you had to do was jump and reach. Easy peasy.
You returned back to where you had been standing before taking a deep breath and jumping. Your right index finger hooked inside and you pulled. A wide grin appeared on your lips.
Which in an Instant turned into an 'oh crap' look. The box had been about fall to the ground. But before that had happened, your hands had quickly whipped out and you managed to save it and your self from a certain doom.
"Huh." Turning your gaze down to the box you couldn't help but stare at the some what strange symbol on top of it. Before you gave it a deep cleaning and placing with the other pile of things which had also been cleaned already. Oh well.
*End of flashback*
Okay, you admit it, you were really dumb back then. You really should given it more thought.
*a small time skip*
With great effort you were able to open the door. Weeell...turns out that it looked heavier than it actually is. You had expected for it to make loud creaking noises. But alas, none were made.
Two large staircases were aligned at...would you look at that, another hallway, just great. An array of books could be seen from top to bottom. And in the front, a large door. This one much bigger than the other.
(If anyone can guess which setting this is you get a plate of cookies.)
And where there are doors, an exit is sure to be close. Once a again you did a quick sweep of the room, still no one in sight.
'Alright, now all I've got to do is walk out of here and find out where I am.'
"And where exactly do you think it is you are going?" A voice cut through the oh so pleasant silence. It belonged to a man. His voice was calm, and yet, it sounded pissed at the same time. Which usually means deep trouble. (Can you guess who it is?)
Making you stop in your tracks. Before said voice spoke once more. "Turn around and give back what you have stolen and I might just let you go." It made shivers run down your spine. So you had no other choice than to do as the man commanded.
Slowly, you raised your hands in the air. Your gaze faced down to stare at the floor. 'Give back what I've stolen, What's this guy even talking about?"
You heard footsteps heading towards your way. 'Oh no.' Was all that kept repeating itself over and over in your head. Before you felt the man just few feet away from you. You panicked, and your right arm flew and in an instant the man backed away. Before a 'shrink' was heard.
And that's when you saw the sword the man held in his right hand. It made you panic even further and that's when you ran
Notes:
(I do in fact, tend to watch movies\documentaries that are about the crusades, I've always found them so interesting. So I'm using the bits I remember And if anyone's interested I highly recommend you watch 'Kingdom of Heaven.' The movie is 3 hours long (i watched the directors cut first and then the tv version) but I really enjoyed it.
I currently don't know how many parts this will have but I do know that it will lead to AC2, AC3 Rogue, and Unity up until when they m-.......dun dun duuuun. Technically, it's not spoilers since it's in the tags and what not.
I'm really gonna have to get the creative brain juices going once more to be able to pull this off. Fortunately, i had written this chapter before i stopped for a little while. But now that I'm writing again, it'll be fun. (for me I mean, cause i'm taking all the angst from every fic i've read and i'm gonna have a field day with it, Muahahaha......Just kidding. Theres already been enough suffering and our beloved characters deserve nothing but good ole happiness.)
Well, anyways that's it for now. i hope you guys enjoyed. Don't forget to comment, leave kudos. And until the next Chapter :)
