Chapter Text
It was a beautiful day, the sun shining brightly with a cooling breeze that wasn’t noticed until you stepped into the shade. Tanya and Byeol were walking side by side through a school corridor, passing other students on their way to indulge in after-school club activities.
Tanya’s stride was graceful and full of passion to reach her destination, her braids bouncing with every step as she clasped her hands softly while she walked. The school’s girl uniform made her look radiant and the way the sun shone on her skin through the windows of the hall illuminated her with a heavenly glow.
At least, that"s how it looked in Byeol’s eyes.
The male realized he was staring at her as he walked and quickly turned straight ahead, clutching the basket he had in his hand.
As they grew closer to their destination the hall grew louder with squeals of delight and they came face to face with two large doors.
“Well…this will be your first day on the job. How do you think you’ll manage as a host?” Tanya asked, staring at the doors ahead.
Byeol made an uncertain face as he scratched at his hair nervously, “I don’t know, I’m a little nervous. I don’t know if I"m what the ladies want.” he grinned.
Tanya looked at him with a smile brightly and grabbed his hand, “You’ll be fine, my star. Just be yourself and have fun. Besides, now that Reine is gone, we have no one to hang out with, so this will be fun!” she giggled, running her thumb across his hand reassuringly.
The male went red and nodded softly, turning away a bit, “Uh-Yes. You’re right, I"ll be okay.” he grinned shyly before slipping his hand out her hold softly and grabbing the door handle.
She grabbed a door handle as well, and together, they entered the host club.
A warm welcome was all they heard as they were blinded by the flurry of rose petals that appeared out of nowhere.
When their vision returned, they were met with the same seven boys they’d seen before, but something was different this time. It seemed a little weird to see them in host mode for the first time.
Byeol stepped forward with the basket and handed it to Tamaki, “Here you are Senpai, it’s for the club. The sweets are also an apology for the first time we met.” He spoke softly, with an air of shyness around him.
To Tamaki, this was seen as goodwill, so he stood with a bright smile and wrapped an arm around Byeol to pull him close, “Thank you sincerely! And don’t worry about that little mishap; it’s water under the bridge now,” he laughed heartily.
“W-Wow, Senpai, I’m so glad you accepted my gift! That makes me so happy…” Byeol spoke in a soft tone; His smirk was hidden before he slowly looked up at Tamaki, revealing a blushed face with big, teary eyes.
Before Tamaki could react, there were squeals coming from left and right as Tanya was herding girls to come to witness the scene.
Tamaki was left sputtering as he pulled away, clutching the basket in hand. The scene slightly amused Haruhi as it seemed like Tanya and Byeol were already putting Tamaki through the wringer just for fun.
The twins were howling, leaning on one another as they clutched their stomachs. Meanwhile, Takashi and Mitsukuni (Mori and Honey respectively) were just sitting on one of the couches, watching the scene unfold while waiting for their guests to return.
Kyoya approached Tanya in the midst of the chaos, writing on his clipboard with a slight smile, “Well,
Miss Moyo, you two have seemed to stir things up quite a bit on Byeol’s first day, now haven’t you?” he stopped writing as he reached her and pushed his glasses up.
Tanya shrugged and flipped her braids, “A great mind never stops working, Senpai. Besides, you’re the one who agreed that if Byeol joined the host club, I could be his manager. I’m merely promoting my client.” She smiled, giving Kyoya a cheeky wink before walking off. Leaving the male to just stare after her.
____________
When things settled down, Byeol was introduced as the newest host and given his first clients. The two girls were blushing lightly, gushing over the scene that had played out a few minutes prior.
“So do you like Tamaki Senpai? I saw you brought him a gift.” The brunette girl gushed.
Byeol took a breath before getting into character, “Well, Tamaki Senpai is so nice, so I do like him…A-As my Senpai, of course!” he mumbled, giving off a nervous air.
The girls burst into a fit of fangirlish giggles before the blonde spoke, “I remember you’re kissing booth! Tamaki kissed your hand that day, and you blushed as bright as a tomato”
The male blushed lightly and smiled, “I was just so shocked; no one had ever kissed me so tenderly before,” he spoke, running his hand over the arm Tamaki had kissed, “I admire Tamaki senpai. Ever since that day he’s all that’s been running through my mind” she smiled shyly, glancing at the two girls before awkwardly fumbling, “H-He’s just a really cool senpai!” He yelped, pretending to try and brush his love-sick musings off as nothing but boyish admiration.
In reality, it was all a lie. All except the kiss part.
It was true that no one had ever kissed him so tenderly. Tamaki truly was like a prince and if Byeol’s heart weren’t taken by another, he probably would have a crush on his Senpai.
This little act that he was playing seemed to be well received, but he wondered how the ladies would act if they found out he was truly bisexual.
He shrugged off the thought and continued to entertain, eventually falling into his character.
The pathetic lovesick boy!
_____________
On the other side of the room, Tanya and a few other ladies were being entertained by the Hitachiin brothers.
“This is your first time here, right Miss?” Kaoru asked sweetly, pouring her a glass of tea. Tanya smiled and nodded, “Yes…I’m a first year and had just heard of this club recently”
Hikaru grinned and leaned forward, “Kaoru, Haruhi, Byeol, and I are also first years. You and Byeol are even in the same class, right?” He questioned curiously.
Tanya looked over at Byeol from across the room and then back at the twins with a nod. One of the other girls on the couch said, “Oh yes! I’m also in their class, 1-B to be exact.” Hikaru looked at the girl,
“Tell me, how is Byeol?”
“He’s new, so we don’t know much about him,” Kaoru finished.
The girl gushed at the newfound attention while Tanya just finished her tea,
“Well,” the girl began, “He seems like a fun guy, though he’s quick to temper sometimes, but it’s so cute because he always apologizes after his outburst with that red face of his! He hangs around Tanya a lot, actually, speaking of which, is he your childhood friend? Are you two engaged?” She asked, turning from the twins to Tanya.
Hikaru and Kaoru also turn to her curiously, as they know something’s going on between them.
“I wouldn’t say we’re childhood friends; we met through our parent"s fashion collab. His grandmother is the CEO of Honest+Star bags, and his father is the head designer. My parents own the largest African fragrance company in the world, known for their highly rich scents. You know Mansa, right?”
She spoke, not looking at any of them while she explained. She got a little awkward when talking about her family background, it felt like she was just throwing her family"s weight around to intimidate people.
Hikaru perked up, “Hey, our mother had a collab with Honest+Star a couple of years ago”
“And Sugar Cane has been my favorite Mansa scent since it came out. I love their sweeter releases,” Kaoru gushed, the both of them nodding as if to commend Tanya and Byeol for their family"s hard work.
Tanya’s face became hot, and her cheeks flushed. a rich walnut color, “Um, thank you…Tea, anyone?” she mumbled as she took a sip, trying to disappear behind her tea glass.
Hikaru and Kaoru looked at each other, sharing a silent conversation that was for making mischievous plans.
______________
As everyone continued their entertaining, the school day ended, and the club was shut down for the day. All the guests had left, but Tanya had stayed to help the hosts clean up.
She was carrying a tray of leftover confections, the dark chocolates having gone untouched. “Oh, those are my favorites,” she pouted, feeling a bit slighted at the thought that the previous guest hadn’t wanted them.
She picked one out of the porcelain dish and was about to eat it when, out of nowhere, the Twins came throwing their arms over her shoulders and squeezing her between them. “Hey, I love dark chocolate!” Hikaru grinned, eating the chocolate out of her hands.
He made sure to trap her finger in his mouth as well, maintaining sly eye contact. Then Kaoru leaned close and licked her cheek softly, “This is the sweetest chocolate ever, huh Hikaru?” The male cooed loud enough for everyone to hear.
Tanya’s face was practically steaming as she tried to keep her composure, but her cheeks were darkening to a deep Maroon.
Before she could say anything, Byeol came aggressively shooing the two pests away, “Stop that, you bastards! Just who do you think you are!” he growled, pulling out a handkerchief and furiously scrubbing at Tanya’s fingers and cheek.
Tanya was knocked out of her stupor and began giggling, lightly pushing Byeol’s Hanky away, “You’re so Jealous, Byeol~You were flirting with girls all day, and you whine when I get just a bit of attention,” she smirked, leaning in close to the males" face.
Byeol turned a deep shade of red, stuttering and stammering while he stood as still as a plank.
Tanya places a quick peck on his nose before turning away to put the tray up.
That little kiss left Byeol prone, and he nearly fainted if Mori hadn"t caught him.
The twins were left laughing like two mischievous Hyenas, and Tamaki snickers while Haruhi scolded them. Meanwhile, Honey brought a wet towel to place on Byeol’s face, “Lay him down, Takashi; I don’t want the towels to just slide off his face,” He instructed while Mori just nodded and took Byeol over to one of the couches.
__________
While everyone else was caught in the commotion, Tanya placed the tray on a counter in the back room, took chocolate for herself, and ate it.
She sighed wistfully, enjoying this little moment, before she heard a chair scoot from the other side of the room.
She startled before whipping her head over to look, visibly relaxing as she saw it was Kyoya, “Oh goodness, Senpai, you scared me,” She pouted, crossing her arms.
Kyoya just gave a huff that could possibly be a small chuckle in response before standing from his chair and walking over.
“Your little stunt today was all the ladies could talk about. I see Byeol being very popular in the future.” he hummed in amusement. Tanya smiled softly as she looked back at the chocolates, “Yes, he will be. I know it.” she spoke in a manner that could only be to herself.
“I wonder. Are you two dating?” He asked in a way that suggested he knew the answer.
Tanya turned to him, crossing her arms, “I don’t see how that’s anyone’s business.”
Kyoya smiled and stopped a few feet away from her, “You know, it’s funny. I was doing some research, and I ran into something quite confusing.” He said in a calculated tone. Tanya had never been intimidated by Kyoya before, but the way he spoke now put her on edge.
“I did some research about you and Byeol, and you seem clear, but something is interesting about Byeol’s background.”
Tanya gasped lightly. Kyoya couldn’t possibly know.
“The Kim baby was hidden away from the public eye for quite a long time, being homeschooled until entering high school. But you know, I happen to get my hands on some interesting information. Turns out the Kim child was a girl.” He hummed passively, grabbing a piece of chocolate.
“So, is Byeol a cross-dresser? I don’t know why she’s going through so much trouble just to cosplay as a man. Many people accept lesbians nowadays. Unless she’s a transvestite?” He spoke nonchalantly, popping the chocolate into his mouth before…
-Slap-
Tanya was heaving, her heart beating fast as her hand was still suspended in the air. She was panicking, his words having sent her into a cold sweat.
Kyoya was astonished; his glasses on the floor cracked, and his cheek beet red. He slowly turned to her, raising his hand to cup his cheek, eyebrows high in shock.
Tanya lowered her hand cautiously and bent down to grab his glasses and placed them on the counter next to the chocolate tray, “Byeol is a man.” she spoke, not looking at the male in front of her, “Don’t you ever fix your mouth to call him otherwise.”
Kyoya stared at her for a moment with an unknown look in his eyes before grabbing his glasses and putting them on. He gently grabbed her chin and made her look at him, staring down at her through cracked glasses, his eyes piercing. “I will keep his secret as an apology for my callousness and will do my best to have his personal information scrubbed off the internet. But, you still struck me, and I cannot let that slide.”
Tanya whimpered. She was intimidated, his larger stature and sharp eyes having her fearful up in fear of what he could do to her, “P-Please…” she tried to beg, but Kyoya placed a finger over her full lips.
“Ah, ah,” he hissed in a patronizing tone, “I think you deserve a punishment.” he chuckled as he began advancing into her space, causing her to back into the counter, knocking the tray down with a loud clank, the chocolate dish shattering in the process.
“You now work for me. You can still be Byeol’s manager, but you will be my secretary from now on, do you understand?” he grinned lightly, removing his finger from her lips. She nodded lightly, chin still in his hold.
They were locked in a stare for a moment, Kyoya’s eyes having a sense of accomplishment in them in seeing Tanya’s frightened and panicked state. Since they met, she’d been a graceful young lady who had a calculating side, but now she was reduced to his secretary, all thanks to Byeol.
He’d found her weakness.
Just then, the backroom’s doors opened, “Hey, everything okay? We heard a noi-” Byeol spoke before freezing, the rest of the host’s behind him.
There stood Tanya and Kyoya in this room. By themselves. In a VERY compromising position.
Tanya’s entire face flushed and she began stuttering while she looked over at Byeol in the doorway. Kyoya just removed himself from her and walked over, patting Byeol on the shoulder, “Your first day as a host was good, congrats” he said with a chipper smile before walking away.
Byeol was still stuck in shock.
Tanya quickly regained herself and began walking towards Byeol, but before she could say anything, the male"s face went from ghostly pale to an angered red. The other hosts all looked at each other before taking a few steps back, and with that, Byeol was chasing after Kyoya, barking obscenities, much to the twins" amusement.
Tanya was chasing after him, trying to explain herself and stop him from hurting Kyoya.
Haruhi scratched her head awkwardly before going to pick up the glass in the back room, Honey and Mori joining her while Tamaki went to go chase after the twins, who were instigating Byeol while he was trapped in Tanya’s hold, a uninterested Kyoya still lazily walking away from the two.
Honey shooed Haruhi off to just go help Tamaki, leaving him and Mori to stay.
“Hey Takashi,” Honey spoke, placing another shard of glass in his hand.
Mori hummed curiously.
“I think things are going to get a little more lively around here,” he grinned.
