Chapter 110: 106 Growing Friendships

Chapter Text

Red pov.

My phone buzzes as I start to clean up in the sink, the cooking club was supposed to have ended a few minutes ago. But the cake we were making for the math club’s championship took longer to get in the oven than it should have, and then we had to wait for it to cool down to ice it. Those who aren’t working on the icing, which we made the mistake of trying to make it look nice when no one was going to care, are cleaning the dishes and counters.

It’s probably just Vaati asking me why I’m late and to hurry up if at all possible. He normally finishes up his homework and studies a few minutes before all the clubs let out, and if I’m done with my activities we leave a little early to avoid the second wave of people leaving.

Once I get all the cups washed I quickly get out of the way of the sink with them, grabbing a towel to dry them off, closer to where I need to put them away, carrying them in a plastic basket. I’ll apologize to Vaati for being late once these are dried off and I have a second to actually respond without being inconsiderate to my other club members. He’ll be a pinch annoyed that he wasn’t warned ahead of time, but he’ll understand.

I glance back to the sink to see if there’s anything I could help with, but while there are all the decorating supplies starting to stack up needing a wash, there’s no room for me to help wash them. And there’s nothing needing drying that hasn’t already been claimed. With a sigh, I pull out my phone and check my notifications, one text from Vaati, and another from Green, I don’t think I’ve talked with him a lot all things considered.

I start with Vaati’s message first;

“Just found out you’re going to be late, I’ll be in the GSA club room, whenever you get out, so go there, not by the bike racks,”

I quickly type back, after checking that there’s still nothing for me to do, “Sorry about that, we’re just cleaning up, at least we’ll have missed the basketball team getting out,”

Moving onto Green’s note I blink a bit in surprise reading it;

“Want to form a study group?”

I type back “I could join one” I’m mostly surprised that it’s Green asking me this, his grades are decent, the range you expect from someone who doesn’t have reason to join a study group. I could see him joining one if someone asked him, but the fact that he’s forming one and asking me is what’s really surprising. Honestly, I can’t really picture any of my friends forming a study group, I imagine those tend to be started by the smart kids, and sometimes recommended by teachers. But while both Vaati and Vio are smart enough to form one, they’re both introverts, so maybe Vio is with Green on starting a group.

“Great, Vio’s texting your brother about joining us, and we were wondering if you could ask Blue if he wanted to join too?” He texts back after a moment. So I was right about Green not starting this on his own. I can see him leading this thing once it’s formed, he always seems to be a natural leader in class.

“Alright, I can do that. What made you want to start a study group, I assume Shadow’s already a part of this?” I ask debating on if I should text Blue and ask him for Green now or if I should wait for us to see each other tomorrow. I need to meet up with Vaati, and I’m still texting Green, I’ll wait to ask him tomorrow when I hopefully have more information.

“We haven’t asked Shadow yet, Vio and I want to do it together. And as long as Shadow’s in it Vio can get out of the house more often and hang out with the rest of us more,” Green texts back as I knock on the GSA club room. Vaati and a teacher I don’t have any classes with are the only ones in the room. Vaati gets up giving a slight wave to them heading out the door not saying anything, so he’s probably not in a talking mood.

As we head to the stairs I notice something moving in the corner of my eye. Looking behind us I see another student leaving the room, I didn’t see them when I looked into the room but maybe they were just out of my line of sight.
