Chapter Text
I walked up the beat-up front steps of the house. I turned around and looked around me. The small patch of grass around the house was dead. The paint on the house was chipping off. Beer cans littered the little slab of concrete we called the front porch. Kuroo put his hand around my waist to lead me inside.
When we got inside, I walked immediately to the kitchen. I heard Kuroo sit down on the couch. I quickly grabbed a beer from the fridge and brought it to him. He looked up at me with what seemed like empathy.
“What’s wrong love?” He asked. I looked down at the floor.
“I’m just really tired today. That was a lot of walking today.”
He grabbed my hand and gave it a small kiss. I looked at him.
“Why don’t you go lay down? I won’t be upset. I promise.”
I gave him a small smile and kissed his cheek. I nodded my head. I walked to my door without looking back. I got hit with a cold breeze when I opened the door. Going down my set of stairs seemed to drain most of the energy from me. I paced around a little bit when I got to the bottom, my mind racing. Shouyou was there. I saw Shouyou. He seemed so sad.
“I don’t love you, Shouyou. I never have.”
Those words ran on repeat. I kept shaking my head, trying to end the thoughts. I fell down onto the bed, hands covering my ears. I crawled into as tight of a ball as I could. I don't love you, Shouyou. I started to cry. What the fuck was wrong with me. I never have. I shot up and threw a pillow at the wall. Tears were falling down hard now but I realised I had to be quiet. Kuroo wouldn’t like all the excessive noise.
I stood up and started pacing again. He was so close. I could have been with him again. No. He didn’t love me anymore. He was with Tobio now. Kuroo showed me the proof. Shouyou said they were not together though. Who do I believe?
I went to the bed and threw myself under the blankets. I was hopeful that the blankets would block out the thoughts. That did not happen. I ran over the whole interaction multiple times.
I don’t love you, Shouyou.
I kept crying. Why did I say that?
I stood in a simple field. I looked around, starting to panic. How did I get here? Kuroo was going to actually kill me. I felt a hand grab mine and I immediately felt calm. I looked towards the person, only to see Shouyou standing there. He was smiling at me. I smiled back. We started walking.
“Why do you always look so scared my love?” Shouyou looked at me closely.
“I.. I’m not too sure. I just feel like I need to be scared. But I am not sure of what.”
“That’s okay. You do not need to be scared though. I am right here with you. Just hold onto my hand and everything will be okay.”
I stopped where I was at. The wind started throwing around my dark hair. Shouyou faced me, head tilting as if he was trying to think but was having a hard time.
“Do you love me?” I asked. I felt his hands reach up to my face and hold my cheeks.
“More than life itself. I would die for you Kenma. You mean everything to me.”
“I love you Shouyou. I am sorry.” I said. He sighed and his smile dropped a bit.
“You do not need to be sorry. You said what you said because you had to,” Shouyou said softly. I frowned.
“What did I say to you? Why am I sorry?”
He let out a small laugh. He grinned at me. His cute little smile was my reason for living.
“You’ll remember. Once you wake up.”
“Wake up?” I questioned. I looked at him and he frowned. “What do you mean wake up?”
“You better go now. Sounds like you have company.” He let go of my hand and started walking away.
“Shouyou! Don’t leave me!” I reached out for his hand.
I woke up in a sweat. I shot up and reached my hand out. I was reaching for something in my dream. What was it?
I heard footsteps moving around upstairs. Multiple people talking. I headed over to the bottom of the stairs. There was a loud thud that scared me back. The room above me flooded with laughter. I pressed my back against the wall on the opposite side of the room. My door opened and I could hear all the voices of Kuroo’s friends.
“Let’s take you to your boyfriend you little slut!” Kuroo yelled out. I watched as a ginger-haired man fell down the stairs. The door slammed shut and I ran over. Shouyou laid at the bottom of the stairs, hands behind his back. I lifted him up and held him. His head was bleeding. He looked at me and spoke weakly.
“I’m sorry Kenma. I followed you home. I came by this morning and was going to try to sneak you out. I didn’t know he would be here. I-”
“Shh. Shouyou, I told you to leave me alone. Now you got yourself involved. He’s going to hurt you.”
He let out a small smile. “I wasn’t giving up on you.” His arm tugged from behind his back. Handcuffs. Where the fuck did Kuroo get handcuffs from. I helped Shouyou up and led him to the bed. He could barely walk. I got him to lay down on the bed. Anger ran through my veins and I marched myself up the stairs. The door was locked so I started banging as hard as I could.
“Kuroo what the fuck is this?! You promised to leave him alone! Let him go!” I was screaming. I was crying. My emotions got the best of me. “You fucking bitch!”
I slammed my fist down as the door opened roughly. My fist went through the air. Kuroo threw a beer bottle at my head. My feet slipped and I felt myself start to tumble down the stairs. My arm landed wrong and I let out a scream as I felt something snap. Kuroo started running down the stairs. His hand reached my neck. He lifted me into the air with his hand. His face was bright red as he threw me to the side. I heard a shuffle. Looking up, I watched as Shouyou ran to Kuroo and kicked him in the groin.
“You motherfucker!” Kuroo screamed as he charged at Shouyou. I watched the boys run down the stairs. “Someone grab Kenma!” I felt someone pick me up and hold my arms behind my back. I couldn’t move. Kuroo pulled a gun from his waistband and pointed it at Shouyou. Then, he stopped and smirked.
He looked at me. “Let’s have some fun Kenma baby.” He broke eye contact and looked at the man holding me. “Don’t let go.”
Kuroo picked Shouyou up by the hair and threw him against the bed. Kuroo’s hand started unbuckling his own belt. I realised what was going to happen. Tears blurred my vision. I tried to turn my head but one of the guys held my face in place.
“Please! Kuroo stop! Don’t do this!”
He laughed as he pulled down Shouyou’s pants. All I could do was close my eyes and listen to the horrors happening. It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
