Chapter Text
The U.A staff stood together on the left side of the stage, a podium with a microphone in the middle of it, as well as two microphones on either side of it for short commentary by the guests. You and All Might were front and center in the group, next to Aizawa and Nezu, who was on Aizawa’s shoulder. On the right side of the podium, members of the Hero Safety Committee stood in suits, accompanied by Endeavor – the soon-to-be number one. You clutched your father’s hand tightly as Principal Nezu took the stand.
“On behalf of all staff at U.A and the Hero Safety Committee, I want to thank everyone for coming to today’s press conference – as well as your patience while we waited for everybody involved in the incident in Kamino to recover. We are happy to say now that all students are out of the hospital and have made full recoveries. All heroes involved are making great progress in their recoveries as well – but Best Jeanist is still unfortunately in a medically induced coma until further notice. His team of doctors are working diligently to heal him so he can wake up and make a full recovery as well.” He said, cheery and happy as always, despite what was going on.
“It was decided with the Hero Safety Committee that students will stay on the U.A campus permanently for the rest of the summer holidays. We understand that this will be tough for the families of our students, and have sent notices out to every family that they are welcome to come to visit their children at any time, as long as they have a visitor’s pass. This is to ensure the safety of the students until we are confident that there will be no further attacks on anyone at U.A. Students with licenses are able to leave campus, due to their ability to be able to legally protect themselves, but must now sign in and out to ensure their safety. All other students must stay on the U.A campus until further notice unless excused by a faculty member.” Aizawa said to the room. Immediately, a million reporters started shouting questions to the panel. Your father gave your hand a squeeze of reassurance, seeing you start to become overwhelmed.
“Please – hold all questions until the end! We know that there must be a lot of them, and we will answer them in due time.” Nezu said, turning around to face the professor’s side, looking to All Might. “Now, I believe All Might wanted to say a few words.” He said. Your heart started to race as your father walked to the podium, dragging him behind you. He let your hand go as he approached the microphone, cameras flashing like crazy in your eyes, nearly blinding you.
“I will start off by saying, that I am incredibly relieved that all injured students are okay – and that Katsuki Bakugo was rescued, completely unharmed by the League of Villains. I am also relieved that everyone involved is okay as well and hope that Best Jeanist recovers quickly, so he can return to active duty soon.” He said, looking up to the crowd and taking a big breath. “I was incredibly lucky to make it out of that fight with All For One. This was not my first fight with him – years ago, there was another fight, in which I took a big hit. Ever since then, my ability to fight and be a hero has been steadily declining. Unfortunately, due to my last fight, I will be unable to continue my duties as a hero any longer and am formally announcing my retirement as a hero.” The room exploded with flashes of cameras and shouts of questions once more, some people yelling in disbelief.
“Please hold all questions!” Present Mic shouted over the room. The room quieted down once more, as the flashes continued. Your heart felt like it was going to beat out of your chest, your father looking back at you. You gave him a small smile and a nod as he continued.
“I know that this will be a challenging new time for us all. I strived to be a Symbol of Peace for all of Japan – and anyone else who needed it. I devoted my life to being a hero – working my way up to the number one spot. I am confidently leaving the position of Number One in the hands of Endeavor.” he said, reaching over and taking your hand in his. “My new devotion is to my position here at U.A – to train the new generation of heroes. Students like my daughter are our future – and I am more than happy to help make them be the best that they can be.” Once more, the room exploded with shouts and questions, lights flashing in your eyes as the truth came to light.
“All Might has a daughter?!”
“All Might – All Might – why didn’t you ever say anything about having a daughter?! Is she your only child?!”
“Nothing was ever said publicly about her being my daughter solely for her safety. As a parent, your biggest worry is keeping your child safe from any sort of harm – you never want them to get hurt under your watch. Being the Symbol of Peace, I never wanted her to be in any more danger or the target of any villainous attacks in order to get to me.” He said, looking over to you. “But, she’s grown-up now. I can’t protect her anymore, but she also doesn’t need me to protect her either. Heck, she’s smarter than I ever was and ever will be.” He said with a chuckle. You tried to force out a fake laugh, but your nerves were getting the best of you as the next question was asked.
“Will there be any consequences to the U.A students who were in Kamino?”
“All Might, how do you feel knowing your child was one of the students both injured and involved in the rescue?”
“Since the students that were in Kamino on the night of the battle did not engage in any form of fighting with their quirks, there will be no consequences to any of them. No laws were broken.” The head of the Hero Safety Committee said into the microphone. You sighed in relief at that statement.
“My first instinct was to be incredibly worried, as I’m sure all the other parents were about their children – when I got to the hospital, she had barely survived due to the amount of blood loss. I owe Katsuki Bakugo all of my thanks for his quick thinking to try to cover the wound and stop the bleeding, because without him doing that, I don’t think she would be here today with me.” Your father responded, taking a breath in and wiping his face. You inched closer to him and held onto his arm in comfort. “When I had gotten to the hospital to check on her later that night and found that she had checked herself out, I was incredibly furious. Even though the nurses and Recovery Girl had both gotten her to a healthy, stable point, she was still incredibly weak and hurt. I knew that she had to be up to something with the rest of the students, but also knew that asking her to tell me was not going to happen – she knew I would try to stop her. By this point, I knew she was going after Katsuki Bakugo – to rescue him from the league. When I saw her in the air in Kamino, I was worried again – as any parent would be. But as her mentor, and the mentor to the other students, I could not be prouder of them.”
“Proud?! They could have been killed!” A journalist shouted in disbelief.
“Yes, they could have. But all of these students want to be heroes, and this was just a showcase of them in action doing what they want to do. While it was risky, they planned it out so no one else would get hurt and their quirks would only be used to rescue and not to fight. All of their quick thinking combined is what saved Katsuki Bakugo – none of us heroes can take the credit for that, it was all the students. Yes, I am proud of my daughter, of Izuku Midoriya, Shoto Todoroki, Tenya Ida, Ejirio Kirishima, and Momo Yaoyarozu. They acted as responsible heroes.” All Might said to the group.
“All Might – is the success of your daughter due to you being a number one hero?!”
“No – absolutely not. I have trained her and helped her grow – but she is a hero all on her own. She won the Sports Festival due to her own skill, going up against her best friends and her own boyfriend and still winning. In her practical final exam, she even beat me – and I did not go easy on her and her teammate.” He said, looking to you with a smile. You opened your mouth, but then shut it. “You can speak, sweetheart. Say what you have to say.” He said. Nervously, you walked up to the podium as your father stood behind you, hand on your shoulder.
“The past two days have been a lot to handle. First I almost died in the forest, then I had to watch my boyfriend get kidnapped by the League while I couldn’t do anything about it. Then, when I thought we had him and everything was fine, I almost watched my last parent die on television. In two days, I went from having 4 people know about my relationship with All Might, to having to tell my entire class in the hospital, and now the whole world knowing. And honestly, I’m just barely holding it together.” You said with a light sniffle. “But the one thing, I have never done and will never do is use my father’s spot as All Might to succeed. It was the biggest reason why I never wanted anyone to know, because I didn’t want people to assume that I got to where I am because of All Might. Sure, he recommended me to get into U.A. – but I’ve worked tirelessly with the rest of my classmates and all on my own to train to become a hero here. I will never accept anything just because I’m All Might’s daughter – if people can’t see me as a hero for my own abilities – then that’s on them.” You finished, stepping back. All Might led you back to the teachers as Nezu concluded the press conference, everybody leading off the stage and into the back room, where you immediately slid back against the wall and let out a sigh of relief.
“You did really well, I’m very proud of you.” Your father said to you, standing above you.
“Battling the League of fucking Villains was less stressful than that.” You said to him, Principal Nezu coming up next to you and taking your hand.
“You did do really well. You and all your classmates should be very proud of everything you have all achieved so far here at U.A. Come with us, your classmates are waiting in the reception with their families!” he said to you. You nodded as you stood. The Hero Safety Committee left as Lunch Rush provided food and refreshments for the press conference, the families of some of your classmates attending. Endeavor had found Todoroki within seconds and now your friend was having to act like he cared about his father. You scanned the room for any of your friends or Bakugo, eyes landing on some of your classmates coming up to you and your father.
“All Might!” Midoriya said happily as Ochaco, Ida and Tsu came up with him.
“We’re all so happy you’re okay!” Ochaco said to him.
“I should have mentioned everyone’s been worried.” You said to him, face flushing red. Kirishima came up to you and slung an arm around your shoulder.
“Of course we were all worried! And you did great, by the way! You really shut down that reporter!” he said to you with a smile. You let out a nervous laugh as Midoriya’s mother came up to meet All Might and you walked away with Kirishima to get something to eat.
“Have you seen Katsu yet?” you asked him.
“Oh yeah – he’s over in the corner there with his parents. Man, his mom’s hilarious!” he said to you as the two of you ate. “She was actually looking for you.” He mentioned. You were about to respond back when you heard your name being called.
“There she is! God, you can’t even see your own girlfriend in a crowd?!” Mitsuki said as she approached you.
“Shut up, woman! You’re the loudest one in the fucking room!” Bakugo growled as Kirishima laughed. Mitsuki embraced you in a hug as she reached you, hugging you tightly. “Don’t fuckin squeeze her too hard - ”
“Shut up, shit head!” she barked to her son. Kirishima let out another roar of laughter as Bakugo punched him in the arm. “I’m so happy your okay! I know you’ve been through a lot – and I’m very happy you’re still in one piece! No one can put up with him quite like you do.” She said to you. Masaru nodded in agreement behind her as he tried to calm his son down.
“Yeah – it’s been a tough few days - ” you said to her, stumbling over your words and eyes going wide as your father approached. “Oh no.” you let slip. Mitsuki turned around as your face went red, smile on her face for the Number One. You walked away from her and tried to intercept him.
“What’s the look for?” he asked.
“Please – just don’t – don’t be embarrassing - ” you pleaded as he walked by you.
“Embarrassing? I would never.” He said offended, Kirishima laughing behind you.
“Yes you would.” You mumbled. All Might turned his attention to Bakugo’s family, Kirishima coming up next to you and chuckling. Bakugo’s face went pale as he realized that now he’d had to interact differently with who he thought was just All Might and realizing that now his parents were meeting the hero he idolized.
“He looks like he’s about to shit himself.” Kirishima whispered to you.
“I think he might.” You said back quietly as your red-haired friend laughed.
“Bakugo – I wanted to talk to you and thank you. I said it in the conference, but if it wasn’t for you thinking to wrap up her chest, she probably wouldn’t have made it. I owe you many thanks for saving her life.” He said to your boyfriend. Bakugo turned red as Kirishima held in his giggles, glaring at his friend quickly before turning back to your father.
“I – I didn’t have to think twice about it.” He stammered as his mother started to lightly giggle. She introduced herself and Masaru to your father and they started talking as Bakugo stomped over to you. “Shut your face, shitty hair.” He cursed to him.
“You looked like you were gonna pass out!” Kirishima laughed to his friend, tears in his eyes from laughing so hard. You couldn’t help but laugh as well as your boyfriend started to grow angry.
“I told you to shut your god damn face!” he yelled as you wrapped your arms around his waist.
“You’d already met him, Katsu. What’s the big deal?” you asked.
“The deal is now I know your father is fucking All Might!” he hissed back as Kirishima kept laughing. “I’m gonna punch you in the mouth if you don’t shut the fuck up soon - ”
Soon after, everyone started to leave. Your classmates walked their families to the front entrance to say goodbye before everyone walked back to the 1-A dorms. Your classmates went their separate ways for the most part, Bakugo following you back to your room to help you change once more. You laid down in your bed under your blankets and looked up at him, causing him to sigh back to you.
“You want me to stay?” he asked.
“… yes.” You said quietly. He let out a laugh as he rolled his eyes, getting into bed next to you. Pressing a kiss to your forehead and wrapping his arms around you, you managed to fall asleep in Bakugo’s arms.
