When Wei Wuxian finally stepped out of the Jingshi, the day was already bright and sunny. As usual it was closer to wu shi when he woke than Han-guang Jun’s wake up time of mao shi. His husband had already bathed him, brushed his hair and fed him. Smiling Wei Wuxian stretched and looked around for Lan Wangji.
“Wei Ying.”
Wei Wuxian whipped his head around, grinning instantly and ran towards his husband.
“Lan Zhan!” Wei Wuxian laughed. “Aren’t we supposed to be going into Caiyi town with our son today? Where’s A-Yuan?”
“Waiting,” Lan Wangji said, as they made their way towards the barrier to Cloud Recesses.
“Ahh, what a filial son we have,” Wei Wuxian snickered, “Is Jingyi coming today?”
Lan Wangji shook his head and said, “Punishment.”
“Ahahaha,” Wei Wuxian said, “Lan-Laoshi caught him at a prank again? I really must teach him some acting skills!”
Lan Wangji listened to Wei Wuxian as he talked about this and that, walking down towards the barrier where Lan Sizhui was waiting for them.
As Lan Wangji said, their son was waiting at the gate. He smiled the instant he saw his parents. As they were alone, he called to them, “A-die. A-niang.”
“Ahhh, when will I be able to get you to stop calling me a-niang?” Wei Wuxian whined. But all three of them knew that he was not being serious and was secretly thrilled with Lan Sizhui calling him a-niang.
Lan Sizhui only smiled mischievously. The young man - he was an adult now! - Wei Wuxian was still amazed and happy every time he thought of the fact that A-Yuan was alive, he really had a little of both Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji in him.
“A-niang, what do you want to do when we get to Caiyi town?”
“What do you want to do?” Wei Wuxian instantly countered.
Lan Sizhui thought for a bit and grinned. “Don’t you want to find a teahouse and let’s have some tea and wine. And maybe lunch. By the time we get there, it’ll be time to eat. And then after that, we can look around see what all the stalls are selling. There must be some stuff we can buy!”
“A-Yuan, you have the best ideas!” Wei Wuxian said, grinning. “Maybe I can ask and see if they’ll make some good spicy food. The both of you need to build up some tolerance to spicy food, or the next time we go to Yunmeng to see Jiang Cheng, you’ll be dying!”
As they walked on, Lan Wangji continued on smiling and listening to the two most important people chattering and planning what to do when they get to Caiyi.
