Chapter Text
Hi everyone, it's Jade Samurai here.
Just wanted to let everyone know about what is going to happen moving forward with The Ghost of Yi Ti. As you all know, I recently lost most of my work on it (close to 800k words) which curb stomped, ran over and killed all motivation to continue writing it. I went to some people to see if they could recover the files, but unfortunately all files across all my saves had been corrupted and I was only able to get a small amount back. It wasn't what I was hoping for, but it was honestly better than nothing. It still sucked major ass as I was really proud of the huge amount of world-building I'd done for Yi Ti and how I'd progressed the story of Jon Targaryen and co.
That being said, I am pleased to announce that I will be continuing on with the story. But it won't be on this story, but it will be told in a brand-new sequel titled The Ghost of King's Landing. It will be a direct continuation of The Ghost of Yi Ti and will pick up right where our characters left off. Given that I felt the Ghost of Yi Ti had ended on a pretty good note all things considered and that it is close to 250k words, I thought here was a good time to put a stop on it there and go forward with a separate sequel. Many of you have asked in the comments questions such as "where is Arthur Dayne going?", "how will the rest of the Seven Kingdoms react to the return of the Targaryens?", "how will Jon convince Robb Stark to bend the knee?", and about a million "when will we get back to Westeros/when is Jon conquering the Seven Kingdoms?"
(Tbh I think about half of all the comments in Ghost are something along the lines of the last question).
But yes, we will see all this and more. We will see just what Jon has planned, how he conquers King's Landing and forces everyone to bend the knee, his and Chaeyoung's struggles with ruling a bunch of kingdoms that see them as little more than foreign invaders, how Arthur will convince Daenerys and Viserys to follow their nephew and how Jon in particular will have to deal with the impending return of the Others in Westeros. He's already dealt with the beginning of one Long Night, can he do it on another continent entirely?
I am not sure when the first chapter of The Ghost of King's Landing will be posted as this is going to take a long time before I am satisfied enough to do so. I'm the sort of person who likes to write well in advance so that I can remain on, and if I feel like it be ahead of schedule. Although I'm extremely pissed (still) that most of my work was destroyed, I'm glad for the opportunity to be able to do it all over again and maybe (hopefully) improve on what I've already done.
I will also be updating a couple of my other stories such as A Samurai in Hogwarts, Harry Potter and the Serpent Slayer and I Am the Night, though admittedly updates for all three will be slow as I work on Ghost 2 (lol). I do highly recommend reading them however as updates for those will likely happen before I post the first chapter of the Ghost sequel. To provide quick overviews of these three stories, A Samurai in Hogwarts is an AU where Harry was taken by Sirius following Voldemort's first defeat and raised by the magical samurai in Japan, and he is forced to return to Britain for the first time since his parents' death when his name comes out of the Goblet of Fire. It is an older story but after playing a lot of Ghost of Tsushima, Elden Ring and Sekiro I've been motivated to continue where I left off with it.
The second story, Harry Potter and the Serpent Slayer is another AU, this time a time-traveling story where an adult Harry has fought against Voldemort by himself and is killed, but he's sent back in time with no memories and all of his skills and powers to essentially fix everything without him even realising it. This story is heavily, heavily inspired by the Berserk manga and anime and if you love extreme violence and edginess, this will be the story for you.
The third fic, I Am the Night is a fic that asks the question, "what if Bruce Wayne was in Westeros?" That's... really all you need to know about it.
But yeah aaaaaannnnnnyyyyyywwwwwwaaaaaaayyyyyy, keep an eye out for The Ghost of King's Landing, I'm looking forward to sharing it with you all when I'm ready.
Thank you all so much for your patience and understanding, and I will see you all soon.
