“YOU GUYS ARE WHAT?” Tony shouted.
“Now Mr. Stark sir..” Peter started. “Let us explain a bit-“ the billionaire cut him off.
“I don’t want to hear it.” He said while turning away. Peter and MJ both felt their stomachs drop, worried they really mess up.
Tony cleared his throat and said as dramatically as he could, “I’ve been BETRAYED by my own children! The audacity!” He said while pretending the faint in the direction of his fiancé.
The doctor however stepped back to let Tony fall. “Hey! What happened to love!” He glared at strange. He only got a sweet smile in response.
Tony rolled his eyes. “Whatever. Children?” He asked.
At this point there was amusement in his voice and the children were hoping he wasn’t actually upset.
“Yes my most favorite billionaire?” MJ tried.
He looked at them and asked, “Care to explain why you hid such a thing?”
Peter rushed to explain. “It was my idea! Me and Wade thought it would be interesting to see who could figure it out on their own and who wouldn’t manage to.. at one point we thought it had been too long and that we should just tell you but we didn’t wanna make you feel stupid since you were the only one who couldn’t see it and we all know you have a fragile ego and-“
“A fragile ego?!??” Tong gawked. “I do not!” Everyone blinked at him and refused to weigh in.
“I knew! The whole time! I was just.. waiting for you to tell me!!”
Tony, in fact, did not know. Nor did he have any idea. But he couldn’t let them know that now.
Meanwhile, the rest of the avengers snickered and hid smirks at Starks inability to lie in this moment.
He turned to a god for help. “I knew! Cmon Loki! Tell them I knew about it kid!”
“As the god of lies… I don’t believe I can defend such a poor attempt.” Loki replied calmly. Sure Stark had helped him a bit, but he caved too quickly for Loki’s taste.
At that, most the avengers burst out laughing, and Stephen patted Tony on the shoulder.
“They’re there darling. It’s alright, no one can be good at everything.” He tried to comfort.
Tony grumbled and said something about putting up with “mean, coldhearted people.” Everyone knew he didn’t mean it, and found it quite funny.
“Well since we’re sharing. Any other secrets I should know my beloved children.”
“No!! None!” Peter yelped, wanting to make sure the man knew he hadn’t hid anything else.
“I’m hiding cats in my closet.” MJ told both parents, secretly hoping she could keep them because she got attached.
Stephen laughed a bit before informing his daughter, “Yeah. Friday told us when you brought them in. You can let them out you know.”
MJ got red, embarrassed she had been caught but happy she could keep them. However she did have something else she wanted to asked them for.. but not sure what they would say.
She wanted to call them by “parent” names. Dad for Tony and father for Stephen. But how does someone start that conversation? What was she supposed to say? And besides with how many people were in this room it would humiliating if they told her no.
But then MJ noticed that the room had been cleared aside from Tony, Stephen, Peter, Shuri, Wade, and her. She looked confused until she saw the encouraging smile Shuri was giving her. Her girlfriend knew he too well. Shuri had quietly kicked everyone out.
MJ fidgeted with her answer and tried to start the question. This immediately caught the adults attention, as it was out of character for her.
“Well… it’s less of a secret and more of a request.. obviously you don’t have to say yes but… could I call you guys like parent names or something? I mean if not forget about it.” She stared hard at the ground waiting for them to respond.
When the took longer than she would have liked to hear an answer she looked up anxiously, only to find the both wearing bright smiles.
“You can call us whatever you want sweetheart.” Tony said. “Both of you can, if that’s what you want.” He added while glancing at a nervous Peter.
“Of course you guys can. Me and Anthony would be delighted.” Stephen smiled.
MJ nodded, still not being able to look at them. And if that wasn’t the perfect time for Tony to mess with her, he didn’t know when was.
“Besides, if I recall correctly, you already called me dad that one night.” He smirked, watching his daughter get embarrassed.
She half shouted back, “Dude! Not cool!”
“Hey now. That’s dad to you.”
MJ rolled her eyes but smiled nonetheless. “Whatever dad.”
Tony smiled in a way that was reserved only for his family, and the smiled only widened we he heard Peter whisper, “Thanks dads.” Which caused Stephen to demand a group hug.
Shuri and Wade remained silent, not sure if they should be speaking or not. But they were pleased that Tony seemed to approve.
However Wade came to a realization in that moment. Peter did still have a secret his parents didn’t know about. A big one. He waited till the family broke the hug and started discussing dinner.
