Work Text:
Taking a deep breath, Jean stopped writing and glanced at the librarian. The famous alumni of Sumeru Academy, Lisa, was sitting quietly with her gaze fixated on the leather bound book in her hands. Jean always found her beautiful. Heck, if she was being honest. She was the most beautiful woman she had ever seen. They were close, there was no denying that but Jean wanted to be more closer to Lisa, like a lover.
Probably her wife.
Jean shook the thought away. That was all to soon. Her face redden, she felt the heat rise to her cheeks. “Are you alright Jean?” Looking up from her book, Lisa stared at her with a worried expression. “I-I’m fine..” Jean quickly grabbed the pen and quickly began writing on the piece of paper on her desk. “It’s a bit hot don’t you think?” She had to change the subject, she didn’t want Lisa to be suspicious of her. “.....right...” Lisa raised an eyebrow as she stared at the acting grandmaster. “It is a bit hot.”
As soon as Lisa went back to reading her book, Jean released a quiet sigh of relief. Thank the Anemno Gods she believed her. Jean couldn’t help but take a couple of glances at Lisa. She hated herself for almost getting caught but she was a bit happy that Lisa was worried for her. Jean didn’t notice the smile on her face as she continued writing. After a few hours, the sound of a closing book and yawn stopped Jean from writing. “Jean I’m going to take a nap. Please wake me up.” Jean was used to this. Lisa loves to sleep and she would always tell Jean to wake her up. And of course, Jean would wake her up. “Sure Lisa.”Jean flashed her a smile before continuing with her work. After a few minutes, Soft snores filled the room, and Jean stopped writing. She stared at the sleeping Lisa and began to think. If I confess will she like me back?
Jean closed her eyes and imagined herself confessing to Lisa. She could imagine the look of disgust on Lisa’ face and how she would threat Jean after she found out. Jean didn’t want to lose Lisa, that was why she didn’t confess to her. She had planned to but the thought of Lisa being disgusted by her, haunted her dreams. She can only watch and admire her from afar. Kaeya and Amber has told her that she should confess and that everything will be okay.
But she couldn’t do it.
She couldn’t bring herself to do it.
Jean groaned as she covered her face with her hands. “I’m such an idiot.” She wanted to throw herself out of the window and glide out of Moonstadt. But she couldn’t do that, she was the acting grandmaster. What would the people think of her?
Forget the people, what would Lisa think of her? Jean silently cursed to herself. “Jean you’re the grand master of Moonstadt and a strong fighter, so why are you afraid of this????” Jean exhaled a deep sigh. She returned her gaze to Lisa and smiled. “I’m guess I’m afraid of you being disgusted by me and rejection.” She chuckled. “Silly me.”
“Why would I ever get disgusted by you Jean?”
Jean almost jumped out of her seat. She stared at Lisa with shock. “How long have you been awake?” Lisa rubbed her eyes and yawned, “About a few seconds ago.” Lisa answered her question before standing up and walking over to Jean’s desk.
You know, throwing herself out of the window and gliding away from Moonstadt wasn’t such a bad idea right now. Jean’s face flushed red and she looked away. “Y-up you must have heard it wrong” Jean slowly chuckled. “You just woke up, you just be hearing things.”
“I heard what you said and why would I ever reject you?” Lisa grabbed Jean’s face and spun Jean around to face her. “Jean if you have something to say spit it out. I won’t reject you or be disgusted by you.”
“You heard nothing Lisa.”
“I know what I heard Jean.”
“Just go back to sleep.”
“Not until you tell me first.”
Jean took a deep breath, “I like......” She avoided Lisa’s gaze and stared at the ceiling. “I like....” She swore she was gonna die just by how close they were. Lisa raised an eyebrow, a smirk forming on her face. She leaned in closer, their faces inches away from each other. “What’s the matter Jean? Just a while ago you were staring at me.”
Shit she’s been caught.
Jean released a nervous laugh,”You must be imagining things Lisa.” Damn she was close, too close. Jean’s heart was about to die. Her heart pounded in her chest, she needed a way to solve this. Well there was one option, but it was risky. She had to do it, it was now or never. “I like you.” Jean whispered, making it impossible for Lisa to hear. “What?” Lisa asked her. “Jean I can’t hear you.”
“I like you...” Lisa barely heard it and Jean’s looked like it was ready to explode. “I still can’t hear it Jean. Louder.”
“I LIKE YOU OKAY I LIKE YOU MORE THAN A FRIEND!” Jean told her. The two was silent for a moment. Jean realized what she said felt a wave of sadness wash over her. She couldn’t believe she had done that.
“Lisa I-“
Before she could finish her sentence, Lisa pressed her lips against hers. Jean was shocked for a moment but she kissed back. “Hey guys how you-“ Kaeya stared at his two friends, his jaw dropped. “Kaeya?!” Lisa pulled back and both their faces flushed red. Kaeya took a step back,”Sorry for bothering the both of you. Continue.” He slowly closed the door, leaving the two to stare at it.
Lisa turned to Jean and smirked, “So Jean do you want to go on a date tomorrow?” Jean shook her head, a smile plastered on her face. “I would love that.” The two couldn’t help but smile at each other knowing that it would be a great day tomorrow.
