If the Helmet Fits...

Summary:

You"re a Pantoran Junior Representative, your Senator is nowhere to be found, and you need help to track him down. You weave through various adversities with the 501st crew, including having to pose as Captain Rex"s lover. As your journey progresses, you realize the feelings might not all be pretend.

Notes:

I am SO SCARED to post this. During quarantine I decided to try writing, so why not combine that with my current infatuation of Captain Rex? I have never written before this, so please bare with me. I apologize for this chapter being dry (trying to give some...backstory?) Feel free to critique and help me improve!

Work Text:

Breathing heavily, you wiped your forehead, you hadn"t sweat like this in force knows how long. The com on your arm hissed as you continued pacing the room. You stopped dead in your tracks and closed your eyes, pleading he would answer. The other end of the line left nothing but silence, you took a deep breath and tried to reach what little composure you had left.

"Hello Senator Kiyamo, it’s representative (y / n) again, I know you’re in a private negotiation but the Senate has called an urgent meeting and I’m being asked where you are. I don"t know how to answer, as you must have ... forgotten to inform me.” You let out an annoyed sigh. "I"ve been contacting you since I landed this morning, hopefully you’re on your way, as I am not allowed to take your place in this conference."

As soon as you sent the message and took a deep breath, the door flew open. One of your servants stepped in. "H-hello miss (y/n) ..." she bowed. "The Chancellor asking if our senator will be in attendance?" Her eyes nervously avoided contact with yours. You pressed a hand to your forehead, trying to calm your stress-induced headache. "Tell him..." you scanned your brain for any sort of decent answer "...that he is hopefully.. on his way." Cringing at your awful words, you waved her away. She curtsied and took a long, judgmental look at your appearance.

After her footsteps faded, you looked at your reflection in the giant mirror embedded in the wall. You were wearing some disgusting, stained, smock with your unkept hair dangling out of a clip. Thank gods you were able to find this empty briefing room, isolated from contact with the other officials. Pulling at your face and dark circles, you let a out a loud groan. You didn"t look like a coherent person, let alone a representative!

Too stressed by the senator"s absence to change, you sat in a dull office chair and tugged at your hair in a mixture of anger and defeat. It felt like you had to continually clean up each mess your Senator left. Letting your head slide from your hands and hit the table. You felt there was nothing to do but wait for any further information.

<>"Who is she?" Echo asked, grimacing. Fives shook his head and laughed, "I feel bad- she"s gotta be some loony janitor or something, but you have to admit, it"s hilarious to watch her episode unfold." Kix sighed, "I wonder when she"s gonna figure out that the mirror is double-sided glass."
