Chapter Text
It wasn't uncommon nowadays to find Jirou in Kaminari's room and laying on his bed. Even the whole class knew that you were more likely to find Jirou casually chilling in Kaminari's room than her own. Sometimes even he didn’t know she was in his room until he’d get interrupted by a cough from an unexpected Jirou while he was halfway through undressing. Of course, this worked the other way around too. If you couldn't find Kaminari, chances are you'd find him lazing about in Jirou's room. Though on days where his room just seemed cooler, she'd hang around maybe work on homework, play her guitar, scroll through her phone, or even just lay there comfortably on her boyfriend's bed listening to music. Meanwhile Kaminari would be doing whatever he managed to occupy himself with, and sometimes that meant joining her… sometimes.
He'd been busy yet again with his game night with the guys, talking to the Bakusquad through his headset while letting Jirou do whatever she pleased. Kaminari sat on the edge of his bed, leaned over and focused more than ever on his free-for-all FPS match with the squad. Serving as his back rest, Jirou leaned against him with guitar in arms strumming along song after song, quietly going down a playlist in her head. Her playing was therapeutic and even the squad enjoyed hearing it despite the occasional scream from each of them about getting headshot or meleed to death by a friend. She had tried to sing while she played, but singing only proved to work without interruption while they were in the game lobby, so it wasn’t worth it. After a while she got bored of playing her guitar and gotten up to set it down safely on the other side of the room.
Jirou stood looking at the clock on Kaminari's wall, '11pm. They've been playing for almost three whole hours.' She thought to herself. Taking a moment to stretch her arms out she stole a glance at her boyfriend, focused as ever on the match and ready to win this round.
"It's best of 20, right? I'm sitting at 18 kills you all need to get good and start killing the master of this map before I win!" Kaminari begins taunting his friends, earning arguments from each member of the squad.
Sitting back down with arms wrapped lightly under his arms, Jirou watched his TV from over his shoulder. Bearing witness to Bakugou quickly rounding a corner to send a single shotgun shot into Kaminari's screen, Jirou laughed at her boyfriend as he turned oh so slightly to pout at her. The scoreboard that was visible during the death timer showed that Kaminari was absolutely wiping the floor with their friends, a single death was nothing in the long run. However, there was something though that could definitely prevent the boy from achieving his victory.
"You may have killed me this time Bakugou, but I'm still ten kills ahead of you!” Kaminari announced on respawn, voice full of pride and determination.
“I got this game in the ba- K-Kyoka, what are you doing?" Earjacks from behind had gently begun to snake up his shoulder blades and slip into the front collar of his shirt. Kaminari's focus began to waver. A bright pink character had jumped down from above and hit him square in the face with a sticky grenade, earning Mina a practically free kill.
"Um, Kyouka? Babe? Love? Are you-Ack!" Firmly wrapped around his upper torso, earphone jacks yanked Kaminari backwards onto his bed. With his head now on her thighs, she cheekily grinned down at his flustered face. The sound effect of Kaminari's character dying once again played through his headset along with squad members telling them to 'get a room' or 'use protection'.
"Babeee, I was winning!" He muted his headset and slid it down the blankets and onto the floor with the controller attached.
Smirking, Jirou gently moved one of his bangs out of his face and stuck a tongue out at him. "It's late, and you win all the time. Almost more than Kirishima, who has been playing this game since release."
"You're just doing this so I lose, I know it!" He began to pout, poking his laughing girlfriend in the cheeks and stomach as he did so.
Laughter dying down from the multiple light jabs, Jirou finally scoffed, “No duh, Jammingwhey. But, maybe- just maybe, what if I said all I wanted was to do this?" and with that she leaned down and gave him a quick kiss. Kaminari had complaints for it being upside down, but was too shocked to voice them at the moment.
Kaminari laid there in her lap, soft amber eyes locked on hers and body completely lifeless as earphone jacks began to unravel around him going back to where they belong. He smiled as he searched her eyes for the reason he deserved such an amazing girlfriend. She had ruined his match with their friends just because she wanted to kiss him, but he couldnt stay angry with her. For all he knew that could have been a lie, maybe all she did was want him to lose. Even then a game meant nothing when it came to her.
As soon as he was free from her grip, he moved to kneel in front of her on the bed to take her face into his hands, kissing her the way he would have preferred to begin with. Her arms began to rest on his shoulders, eventually bending to pull him even closer. Kaminari took this as a sign to pull his arms from the arch in her back closer to him as well. Losing the strength she had to keep her sitting upright, what started as a distracting kiss ended up turning into a full blown make out session.
After what seemed like more than five or even ten whole minutes, they finally break. Both gasping for much needed air. Kaminari lets his arms give in and falls on top of Jirou, who grunts annoyingly at his immediate decision to drop all of his weight on her. He turns his head to her and breathes her in before hiding his face in her neck.
"You know what? I always thought upside down kisses are overrated.” His voice vibrating from the lack of distance between them.
With a sigh of content, she begins to run her fingers through his hair, "I always thought so too."
Jirou hears Kaminari’s headset faintly notify the game was over, followed by the horribly familiar sound of the squad kicking him out of the party once again. "So does this count as a loss then? You can go back to your game if you want. Rejoin, kick the squads' ass, and win like you planned to?" she asks, using a soft tone reserved for Kaminari only.
His chest abruptly jumps with his chuckle, moving Jirou along with it. Her gaze that was absent mindedly on the ceiling moved to stare into the mess of blonde hair she was combing through.
Arms find their way around her waist as he turns onto his side and clings to her, "Nah, forget the game. Whoever won that match doesn't know the real feeling of winning tonight."
Jirou’s face heats up quick from the meaning behind his cheesy words, and is quick to hide her face from him by staring off to the opposite side of the room, eyes locked on her guitar.
‘I had to pick the cheesy adorable idiot…’
It took her a moment to breathe but once she could finally smile, she looked back over to him only to find he had finally looked up to meet her gaze. Jirou stifled a small laugh, he had the same love struck look on his face that she’d catch him wearing her way in class.
Moving her head forward to bump him, she tried to snap him out of it. “Hey Jammingwhey, come back to me. You’re starring off into space.”
“Nope, I’m staring at you, beautiful.” He shook his head a little to refocus himself then grinned as her cheeks became dusted in pink yet again, “and last I checked you’re the brightest star.”
After a minute of flustered Jirou died down, he brought a hand from her hip to her face, rubbing over her cheek lightly, “I’ve been trying to find out what I did to deserve someone like you.”
His question was sincere this time, it wasn’t some kind of ‘let’s make Jirou blush for fun’ jab, and she could tell. Jirou had sworn that they had talked about this topic before during a night where insecurities and doubts about their relationship plagued them both. But if he needed a reminder it didn’t cost her anything to reassure him, in fact she was actually secretly overjoyed to tell her boyfriend once again why exactly she fell for him.
“You’re stupidly cute, your pick-up lines and jokes actually work sometimes, you’re going to be an amazing hero with a pretty badass quirk, and you’re just the best best friend turned boyfriend I could ever ask for.” Her heartbeat picked up, “You listen to me when I have any kind of problem, and I promise you I will always listen to you when you have anything that eats at you. If anything, I’m the one who should be asking why you picked me of all people, but anyway.”
“Kyouka…” Kaminari began to silently smile wider and hold her closer as she began to speak again.
“You spent time to impress me for hell knows why, and your effort actually paid off because your guitar skills and your singing has improved, Denki.” A sudden memory had crossed her mind and was hesitantly added, “You thought of me as the most important person to you even before we started dating. Seriously, if you had told me that sooner we would have probably been a thing months before, Denki.”
“I know, I know, man, and that’s one of the biggest regrets of my life! I’m sorry!” He groaned and threw his head and arms back in stress as he recalled the many times he chickened out before confessing to Jirou.
She laughed at his dramatics before continuing, “Now that you made me confess all of that, you better not have any more doubts on why I chose your dumbass to love. I don’t know if I have the patience to list more reasons off.” An earphone jack lightly tapped itself against Kaminari’s forehead.
A cheeky grin grew on the blond’s face as he took the earphone jack poking at him and put it to his lips, “I don’t know, Kyouka. You may have to remind me even more.” An arm smoothly made its way back around and down her back.
“N-nope. N-nevermind, I don’t have anything else to say.” The earphone jack was gently yanked from his grasp as Jirou tried to worm her way up and out of his increasing grip.
“Wait- no, Babe. Don’t leave meee. I’m kidding! I love you, Kyoukaaa!!!”
She sighed and stopped moving, her efforts were futile anyway, efforts in the past to escape from Kaminari had proven just as successful.
“I know, I love you too, Denki.” Both her hands ruffled his hair before kissing the top of his head.
