Work Text:
Tony let a sigh leave him as he leaned back against the elevator wall, it had been a long day filled with arguing and boring board meetings so all Tony wanted to do at that moment as get something to eat and go down to his lap to work on his newest invention.
For a moment Tony wondered if he should skip the food and just go to the lab but the thought of worrying Pepper made him wince. He knew he had to eat something and he knew that he should get some sleep but he guessed that at least doing one of those was better than doing nothing.
As the elevator went up each floor Tony felt himself relax a little more and was even comfortable enough to let his guard down slightly. He never fully let his guard down until he was in the safety of the four floors that he and Pepper called their home the first floor of that group especially.
"Boss," Friday called out making Tony jump slightly as he looked up at the ceiling of the elevator with a small smile.
"Yeah, Fri," Tony called back letting his eyes close for a moment as he listened to his Middle child AI talk.
"You have a visitor in the main housing floor," Friday said in her usual kind voice that sounded just like Pepper's when she was telling him about her day.
"Ah, I wonder who it could be," Tony said with a smile already having an idea since Pepper was still working and both Rhodey and Happy weren't at the tower at that moment. Which only left one person that was in Tony's small circle who Friday wouldn't call security on not even if she was ordered too.
As the elevator doors opened Tony could have sworn that he heard Friday laugh even though he knew that that couldn't be possible, he didn't dwell on it too long though as he saw exactly what he expected to see when walking onto the floor.
Laying there on the high class, expensive sofa on his stomach with his feet in the air was none other than Peter Parker.
His backpack was placed on the floor beside him where he could easily grab what he needed from the bag and his shoes were placed next to the bag. In front of him were a few textbooks and a notebook, showing signs of him either working on a project or working on homework. From how many textbooks there were in front of him Tony guessed that he was working on the latter.
Tony couldn't help but roll his eyes as he saw The Empire Strikes Back playing as he worked.
"Hello, Spiderling," Tony called out as he walked out of the elevator finally letting the doors close as he took off his sunglasses.
"Hi, Mr. Stark," Peter said with a bright smile at seeing his mentor walk into the room already having heard him coming thanks to his elevated hearing.
"What are you doing here might I ask?" Tony said as he walked past Peter so he could head towards the kitchen to fix himself something to eat, as Tony walked past the young hero he barely stopped walking as he ruffled Peter's hair causing the young man to laugh.
"Aunt May had to work a little longer today so i thought I'd come here," Peter said as he looked down at his notebook once more and began to write down an answer he had figured out.
"And you came here without her knowing?" Tony asked as he began to pull things out for the sandwich he was craving. He tried to hide the worry he felt at the thought of May not knowing where Peter was, he knew that she worried about her Nephew which she had every right to do but after finding out he was Spider-Man her worry had only grown.
"Oh no, she knows where I am," Peter assured him with a smile before going back to working on his homework problems. "She was actually the one that said I could either stay home by myself or come here to you," He said not taking his eyes off of his textbook this time as he spoke.
"So you chose me?" Tony asked with a smile on his face he felt honored that the young spiderling had decided to come and see him, though he decided not to show it in favor of keeping the slight teasing air that was between them going. "You know I gave you the key card to my place for emergencies," He said as he began to cut the tomatoes he had pulled out of the fridge.
"It was an emergency," Peter defended himself as he pulled his gaze away from his homework once more but this time pushing himself up to sit on the sofa.
"Which is?" Tony asked knowing that Peter wasn't hurt or in danger. How he would have known this because Peter's AI Karen would have told Friday and Friday would have told him which would lead to Peter being wrapped up in bandages and bubble wrap.
"I missed you," Peter said with bright eyes which caused Tony to blink in slight surprise at the genuine and innocent nature of the Spiderling before him.
After hearing, Peter says this Tony couldn't help but smile and even though he wouldn't admit it he felt a few tears blur his vision.
"Do you want a sandwich?" Tony asked as he looked down and reached for the bag of bread that he hadn't opened yet.
"Sure, Mr. Stark!" Peter said happily as he stood up and walked over to where Tony was standing making their food.
They talked as they ate about Peter's homework, Tony's newest invention, and other things both enjoying one another's company.
Pepper closed her eyes and leaned her head back against the elevator much like her fiancé had done hours earlier. It had been a long day for both her and Tony which led Pepper to want nothing more than to relax.
"Friday, where is Tony?" Pepper asked as the thought of her future husband crossed her mind. She didn't know why she was asking Friday about where he was since she was sure that he would be in his lab working away.
"He is currently in the living room, Boss Lady," Friday responded right away as the elevator arrived on the main living floor.
"He is?" Pepper asked more to herself than to the AI she was speaking with. "Thank you for letting me now, Friday," She said with a smile as the elevator doors opened for the CEO of Stark Industries.
"You're welcome, Ma'am," Friday responded to her like she always did when Pepper thanked her.
Pepper stopped though as she walked into the living room surprised to see that no one was in there. Pepper blinked confused as she looked around and for a moment thought that maybe Tony had to Friday not to tell her where he was she pushed that thought aside though since Friday was just as concerned about Tony as everyone else meaning she would never lie about his whereabouts at least not the small circle of people that Tony trusted.
As Pepper walked farther into the living room wondering what was going on she suddenly stopped at hearing the slight sound of snoring coming from the sofa. She turned her head to look at the expensive furniture that she was now beside and her heart instantly melted.
Laying on the sofa was Tony but he wasn't the only one since laying across his chest was Peter both snuggled up and sleeping happily.
Pepper forced herself not to coo at the sight before her scared that she might wake the two up but that fear didn't stop her from carefully pulling out her phone to take pictures nor did it stop her from planning to send the photos she took Rhodey, Happy, and May.
Pepper smiled as she carefully walked away to fix herself something to eat as quietly as she could as planned to call May and ask her if Peter could spend the night.
