I'm back with more Sanders Sides One Shots! I have done tons of drafts of ideas that seem to pop into my head but never get finished so I’ll try to finish some and get it them posted!

TW: Some Slightly Heated Kissing (not that bad though)

Chapter Text

The day started just like the rest of the days in the Mindscape, but even in the silence, you could tell something wasn’t quite right. Roman eyed the others curiously, checking to see if they were doing anything out of the ordinary. He was frustrating himself as though he could feel something was off, he couldn’t identify where it was coming from.

That was before Virgil came out of his room. Virgil was on a phone call with Nico’s anxious side. Roman failed to realize Remus looking at him and seeing his expression drop at the thought of Virgil talking to another side. For once, Remus felt bad for his brother and let’s be honest, he owes him a favor. Yanking the fanciful side into his room, Roman looked up at his brother, his breathing shaky and uneven. He sat down and gestured for Roman to tell him as he shut the door.

“Remus. I know that look all too well. Virgil is in love with Nico’s anxiety. I’m now heartbroken but will have to sit and watch my dreams go down the drain because I need to be a good friend to him, even if I can’t have him.”Remus looked at Virgil talking to him, studying his expression. Roman flopped on the bed, covering his face with a pillow.

“Well, guess I’m living an eternity of hell! Nico’s anxiety isn't awful looking either….who am I to challenge that?”

“Hm. Well, there is only one thing left to do. Tell him everything you feel. Write it down. Do you want him? Fight for it.” Roman sighed and nodded. Remus shrugged and gave a sympathetic smile. Little did Roman know, Virgil saw his expression falter and was now trying to decipher what that meant.

Roman knocked on Virgil’s door and had to hold back from crying.

“Hey. Can we talk for a minute?” Virgil nodded slowly and watched Roman sit down lightly on his bed. Virgil followed and gave Roman all of his attention as he spoke.

“So….Nico’s anxiety. You fell for him.” Virgil knew that Roman was trying to get answers but there was something underneath his words that were a lot more bitter. Virgil nodded and there it was again. The falter in his expression.

“I have something I need to confess but I need your approval to do so. Just so I feel like less of a selfish prick when I tell you.” Virgil sat speechless but was curious as to what he had to confess to him at midnight. Nodding, Roman mustered up the last bits of courage he had.

“Okay. I may have had a crush on you throughout the entirety of your existence but was never brave enough to tell you for fear that you would reject me, and even though I know you still can, I needed to get it off my chest. So, if you ever thought I was hiding something, I was. It was that.” Virgil sat in disbelief, staring at Roman. What did he even see in him?

“I would sit here and lament about my feelings, but then we would be here for hours. So, the choice is yours if you want to date Nico’s anxiety but I ask one thing before you make up your mind. Let me kiss you. Then you can make your choice.” Virgil went pink at the thought of it, but Roman made a good point. At least if they do kiss, he’ll be able to choose without wondering if he made the right choice. So, locking eyes with Roman, he nodded and sat up straighter. Roman nodded and leaned forward, Virgil feeling Roman set his hand against his neck. The two boys slowly but surely closed the gap between them. Roman kissed Virgil softly, feeling the joy of what he had wanted to do for years.

Virgil was confused as he felt oddly safe. He felt protected. Not anxious and scared like he normally does. The more he kissed Roman, the more everything seemed to fade away. His worries, fears, doubts? They all seemed to have disappeared. Both had agreed on one kiss, but both no longer cared. It was more than one kiss and the kiss got increasingly more passionate and intense the longer it went on for. It was like they finally figured out what they were missing out on.

The only way Virgil could describe it? Right. It felt right. Virgil didn’t even fight when Roman slipped his tongue in while they kissed. He simply let it happen.

It only stopped when Virgil’s shirt was rolled up, both of their hair was disheveled, and both looked drunk. Roman went as red as his sash, and covered his face.

“Oh, dear god. Has it really been that long? Sorry!” Virgil sat up and smiled at Roman.

“Well, I have decided. I choose you because of that. I don’t have to kiss him to know that it won’t be the same and it never will be because he isn’t you, and he never will be.” Roman smiled and let his tears flow freely this time as their lips collided again.

He had one last shot and he took it. The risk he took to get Virgil back worked and Roman now was able to call Virgil “his”.
