Chapter Text
Hey y'all! Sorry for the radio silence! Just wanted to give you a quick update.
As you might have guessed, I've been taking a hiatus from Shatter while I dealt with some life stuff (new job in particular). Things have started to settle thankfully, so I'd love to get back to this story in the next while. I've appreciated your continued interest in the story; I assure you it doesn't go unnoticed, and I thank you.
That said, a major reason I've been away from Shatter is that I've been working to get a side project across the finish line! It's called Summer Rains, a short story set in (a separate) PMD-verse. I'm pretty proud of this one, even if it takes a different tack from Shatter. The story is complete and starts publication today.
What else has been going on... Spring is here? That's nice. Love seeing the sun. And the sky. Remember the sky? I don't.
...Yeah I don't have any other updates. I can't give a deadline on when I'll get back to Shatter; I'll need to build a buffer back up and all that. But I hope it'll be soon! Until then, I hope 2023 is treating you well, and hasta luego! 👋
PS Here's a bit of Shatter trivia for ya:
If you handed Vidri an open bottle of hot sauce, what would he do with it?
That's right, he'd drink it straight!
PSPS You can ignore that bit of trivia; hot sauce doesn't exist in the Shatter universe.
PSPSPS To help tide you over until more Shatter, have you read these stories? AG-approved! ;D
- Mare Marginis is a great one, if you haven't checked it out yet. The PMD:Sky protagonist gets flung into the world of Legends: Arceus! An “isekai-isekai,” if you will. In particular I enjoyed the solid, subtle characterization, and fun allusions to the Explorers games.
- From the Vast I just recently found, and I read all the way to the latest chapter basically in one sitting! It's got a great depiction of a Pokémon-only society, one that's well-thought out and even cozy at times. And the central conflict (a human in their midst) is compelling and interesting throughout. Well worth your time.
- I'd be remiss not to highlight Big Shoes to Fill, especially since I directly reference the main character in my new short story! It's about a latias trying to build a new life after someone moves into the house her old trainer left behind. The real and nuanced depiction of relationships and boundaries really resonated with me. One of my all-time favorites.
- Borne of Desire is basically a big bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and I don't care. It's fun and has heart and it's anime as heck. Despite all that the author has serious writing chops. It's a bit slice-of-life-y at times, but really you can't go wrong with this one.
And then there's A solitary tree, an adaptation of Samuel Beckett's absurdist masterpiece Waiting for Godot that's won the hearts of PMD fans and tragicomedy lovers alike, even being nominated for two awards, including Best Ridiculous Adaptat—*shot*
