Trucy ran her hands through her newly short cropped hair. She admired the elegant pixie cut and the thin veil that had rested on the top of it. She also loved the light blue eyeshadow Pearl had delicately and carefully used and blended. She opened her locket and looked at the two pictures inside. The first one was from when she was twelve, and in London with her Dad and Papa. They had their picture taken in front of Big Ben; Trucy and her Dad tried to put ‘bunny ears’ behind her Papa. They all grinned proudly at the camera, and she didn’t mind that she blinked, it was one of her favorite pictures she had with her fathers.
The second one was later, when she was eighteen, with Apollo and their Mom. She remembered that it was taken the day that she found out she had an older brother. Trucy smiled at it, glad to know that she was right; she had her own suspicions when she saw her brother’s bracelet for the first time, but it was a good feeling to have it confirmed. She closed the locket and kissed the top before putting it back on.
“Heya Truce,” someone called her name as they opened the door. “How’re you feeling?”
Trucy turned around and beamed, “Polly! Klav!”
She ran over as best she could in her white wedding dress to give them both hugs. Their eight month old, Thalia, beamed and made grabby hands toward her auntie.
“You look wunderbar, Fräulein!” Klavier said. “Just like a princess, ja?”
Trucy grinned and pressed her hands against the soft silk of her ballroom skirt. “Aw, Klav! You really think so?”
“You look really pretty, Trucy, I mean it,” Apollo said while hugging her. “And really happy, too…!”
Trucy nodded, “I am… I really really am,” She replied quietly. “I love Jinxie so much…”
“I’m really glad, Truce!”
Thalia babbled and tried to reach even more while Klavier held her, her downy brown hair was held up with a soft yellow bow matching her sundress.
“Uh oh, I think Vati’s not sparkly enough for her now,” Klavier chuckled. “Would you like to hold her…?”
Trucy squealed and took the baby into her own arms while tickling her tummy, “Oh my god, of course !” Trucy replied quickly. “I love my niece? I will never say no to huggies and cuddlies and tickly-wicklies?”
Thalia giggled in her agreement, her big blue eyes were shining with excitement. She reached up for Trucy’s locket with her tiny little hands. Trucy unhooked it and opened it so the baby could see what was inside.
“Oh…? You like seeing the picture of Auntie and Daddy with Grandmommy?” Trucy babbled. “Or of Auntie with Grandaddy and Grandpapa?”
Klavier chuckled and kissed Apollo’s temple, “I think she just really likes looking at you, Herr Forehead,” He said. “Not that I blame her, I like to as well…”
Apollo turned red and squawked, “Klavier!”
Trucy smiled at her brother and brother in law. She loved that Klavier never passed up an opportunity to flirt with Apollo, even ten years after they first met and five years of marriage. Trucy hoped that she and Jinxie would have that too.
“We’re really happy for you, Truce,” Apollo hugged her as best as he could without squishing Thalia. “The both of you, really, you deserve this .”
“Oh… Polly…!” Trucy sniffled while hugging back. “You’re the best big brother I could have ever asked for, I mean it!”
She gave Thalia one last kiss on her forehead before handing her back to Apollo and putting her locket back on.
“You be good to your Vati and Daddy, okay, Babygirl…?” Trucy pinched her cheek. “Then, at the reception, Auntie Jinxie and I will dance with you!”
Thalia’s eyes widened as much as her grin did, showing off her two bottom teeth, before giving her a sloppy kiss on the cheek.
“Aww, Hasechen!” Klavier murmured. “Who is the cutest and sweetest and most perfect baby in the world?”
Apollo kissed her little nose and bounced her up, “Thalia is!”
Thalia giggled in her agreement and waved at Trucy while her fathers carried her out into the general congregation area. The blushing bride smiled at her hopeful future with her own beloved, and the prospects of her own ragtag family like that of her own. She turned to fix her earrings when she heard yet another knock at the door.
Trucy turned around and smiled gleefully at her two most important guests. They were both in black suits wearing red and blue waistcoats respectively, alongside the characteristic cravat and blue bowtie. Her fathers smiled at her proudly, even though they both were on the verge of tears.
“You look beautiful, Truce,” her Dad said.
“Truly mesmerizing,” her Papa added.
She hugged the both of them and sniffled, “Daddy! Papa!”
Her dad rubbed her back while her Papa carefully dabbed at her eyes.
“Be careful, Trucy dear, you wouldn’t want Pearls’ hard work to be smudged now…” He chuckled, despite his own tears forming. “It’s your big day…”
Trucy giggled and pushed up his horn rimmed frames, “And I don’t want your glasses to fog up either, Papa!”
“Oh my god, my baby girl is getting married !” Her Dad sniffled. “It still feels like yesterday you were showing me a new card trick, and now you’re all grown up!”
“Oh, Daddy!” she hugged him. “I’ll always be your little girl, don’t worry!”
“We’re both so proud of you, Trucy,” Her Papa said. “We truly couldn’t be even happier for you than we already are…
“That precocious little girl I met all those years ago,” He reminisced. “Well… she grew up into the clever and confident young woman I see today.”
“Papa…”
“I truly hope your life with Jinxie is going to be fulfilling and happy,” He continued. “And I can truly say this with the utmost confidence that you are the most beautiful bride the world has ever seen…”
She hugged him once again, trying her best not to cry. He held her close and kissed the crown of her forehead. He handed her Dad a handkerchief as he was already starting to cry.
“My goodness, Phoenix,” he chuckled. “You haven’t changed, even after thirty years…”
“I’m about to walk my little girl down the aisle!” He protested. “Of course I’m going to cry!”
“Daddy! Don’t cry before it starts!”
“Don’t mind him, Trucy dear,” Her Papa tutted. “You must remember, your Father is sentimental to a fault, and proud of it…”
“You know, I’ve been told that it’s actually one of my best traits!”
“When did I imply that it wasn’t…?”
“Miles…!”
Trucy giggled and kissed her Dad’s cheek, “I agree! That’s just the kind of person you are…!”
“Trucy…” He smiled. “God, you both are too sweet…”
Her Papa kissed his other cheek and straightened his bowtie. “Only because you deserve the best, Love.”
Trucy snaked her arm into her Dad’s and beamed, “I’m gonna have the best Daddy in the world walk me down the aisle, yeah…?”
He nodded and kissed her temple, “And I’m gonna walk the best daughter in the world down the aisle…”
Her Papa handed Trucy her daisy filled bouquet and straightened her veil. Together, the three of them headed for the grand hall where she was to wait. Miles Edgeworth and Phoenix Wright both grinned proudly at their daughter, barely able to contain their own tears as they walked her to her own future and happiness.
They all remember thinking one thing along the same lines in that moment: It is truly a wonderful day for a bright and beautiful future.
