Work Text:

Kurono Hari was an observant man; it was a trait that earned him his CFO position at the Shie Hassaikai Medical Agency. So when he spotted his precious little mou-  secretary—  sitting at their desk, looking at the computer screen before them with such a soulless stare, Hari decided that you deserved- no,  needed - a vacation. What kind of boss (read: boyfriend) would he be if he let his dutiful little secretary wither away into nothingness before his very eyes?

'This is only to help them be at their peak performance, not because our 3rd anniversary is this weekend and they've been begging to go to an authentic Japanese onsen for a month now. Definitely not the second reason at all.'  Hari smirked to himself as he sauntered his way over to your unresponsive form and stood over you, his beautiful silver-grey locks framing his sharp cheekbones. "Did you enjoy your nap, little mouse?" Hari teases, bending down to give you a peck on the cheek. You jumped, snapped out of your mental nap.

"Wha- oh it's just you Sir. Sorry, didn't mean to fall asleep. I'm just swamped and stressed and--" Your soon-to-be ramble was cut off by Hari interrupting you. "I know that you've been put under a lot of unnecessary stress lately," He pauses, thinking back to when he may or may not have pushed an entire quarter's worth of budget calculations off onto you that were needed in the next three days. Hari shakes his head before continuing. "-and that you deserve a day off. So, being the kind and generous boss I am, I convinced Kai to allow me to take this Friday off." He then smirks, holding up a brochure to the very hot spring you have been asking to go to for weeks.

You were absolutely floored. You knew damn well that Kurono Hari is a man that does not know what a vacation is, and over time you adopted that mentality as well. Then it hit you.  Your third anniversary.  How could you so stupid as to forget? You were never the one to forget important dates, you were a secretary for fucks' sake! You dropped the professionalism for a bit, looking at Hari with the most adoring eyes he's ever seen, and his heart simultaneously melted and leaped out of his chest. "Oh, little mouse..." Hari trails off as he embraces you tightly. Gods, you loved this man so much.

The two of you arrived at the onsen at 8AM, just as Hari planned. As he checked in, you wandered off to explore the resort grounds to get yourself acquainted with the layout of the place. While exploring, you stumbled across the most beautiful Japanese style garden. The first thing you lay your eyes on is the rich cherry wood bridge which gave way to a small clearing that was secluded from the rest of the garden by a ring of perfectly manicured camellia bushes. The sounds of running water soon becomes background noise as you enter the camellia clearing. There was a blossoming sakura tree, casting a cool shadow on the soft grass. Your dreams of finally being able to relax under a blooming cherry blossom tree were shattered when you heard Hari's silky smooth voice ring in your ears.

"Little mouse, where are you-- Oh there you... are..." Hari's words died in his throat as his eyes drank in your form. The way the sunlight made your skin glow, how your eyes shone at the sight of the beautiful flora that surrounded you. In his eyes, you looked like a little piece of the heavens came down to Earth, took a human form, and became this gorgeous being he has the privilege of dating. He clutched the item in his hand tighter, before slipping it in his pocket. 'Right now is the perfect time, Hari. What are you waiting for? I'll bring them back here after we enjoy the actual hot spring then.' He thought to himself before hugging you from behind. "Guess who." Hari purred in your ear, sending chills up your spine.

"Let me guess. A tall dark skinned man, with silver dreadlocks and beautifully sculpted features?" You say sarcastically as you turn to face him, still wrapped up in his embrace. "Ding ding ding, my stardust. Fuck, you look amazing like that stardust. That faraway gleam in your eyes, like you're trying to hang on to a dream that's already leaving your memory. And the way your skin is absolutely glowing in the sunlight... Stardust, you look heavenly." Hari showers you with praises, leaving kisses on your cheeks and ears before kissing your lips passionately. Your lips moved against his instinctively, kissing him for what felt like an amazing eternity. You only pulled away for air, and you could feel the heat rising to your cheeks. "Well, it's already almost noon. And yes, before you ask, you've been wandering around the resort for four hours. I should have figured that you would naturally be drawn to the garden, huh?" Hari said nonchalantly, as if he was completely unfazed by the mini makeout session the two you just had. You stuttered and flailed your hands around in an unsuccessful attempt to form a coherent sentence. 'Kurono Hari, you will be the death of me.'

The two of you spent the day exploring the local tourist spots near the hot springs, which included visiting many local shrines and temples. You and Hari were currently sitting on the futon, scrolling through the many photos you took, deciding which ones to keep. You then remembered the reason you were here in the first place -- the hot springs. "Hari, why don't we relax in the hot springs together? I read that they were best enjoyed at night!" You exclaimed, your face lighting up like a kid in a candy store. "Sure thing stardust. I can't say no to you, especially when you're so damn adorable." Hari pecked you on the cheek, grabbing your hand and leading you down to the hot spring.

You were sitting next to the spring, still wrapped in your towel as you waited for Hari to join you. You weren't impatient, you knew how long it took for him to put all of his hair into a neat bun; he could not afford for his dreads to get matted. "Have you been waiting long, little mouse? I hope not..." At the sound of his voice, you turned to see him, and you were positively dumbfounded. The way his beautiful mocha skin shone in the moonlight made you feel things. Good things. "Hari you look absolutely breathtaking." You blurt out as you him remove his towel as he sank into the hot spring. The groan of absolute relaxation that fell from his lips should have been fucking illegal. You slipped the towel off and sank into the spring as well, and all the stress left your body almost instantly. You snuggled into Hari's left side, feeling so at ease that you started to drift off.

What felt like only a second later, you were woken up by the feeling of a warm and fluffy towel drying you off. You blink the drowsiness from your eyes, realizing that Hari was drying you off. You smiled at how sweet this man truly is. He wouldn't dare let anyone else see this side of him, but in his eyes, you deserved that and so much more. "Lion, I wanna go back to the camellias, can we go back to the garden?" You asked in that sleepy voice that made Hari give into anything you wanted. Little did you know, that's exactly what he was hoping you'd want to do. 'Oh little mouse, you just made this so much easier for me.' Hari smirked before responding. "Of course, stardust. This vacation is about what you want, and I'll be damned if I made you upset or something simple like going to a garden. But you are going to have to close your eyes." He said before he once again led the way to the moonlit camellias.

Hari's heart felt like it was actually trying to escape his rib cage, and he wasn't really opposed to the feeling. In all honesty, it was taking everything in him to restrain himself from absolutely rearranging your spinal cord when he finally arrived at the garden. "Open your eyes, my little mouse." You followed his instructions, and you were blown away. Hari had somehow arranged the camellia clearing to be decorated with paper lanterns and streamers, like a festival. All while staying by your side all day. "Hari, what's all this for-" You stopped mid-sentence as you realized that he was down on one knee before you, smiling like a fucking dork.

"Little mouse, my personal piece of the heavens, my stardust. For the past five years you've been my assistant, and more importantly, for the past three years my lover. I have always been able to trust you with my everything; my heart, my insecurities, my fears, my everything. You have such a beautiful spirit, you're kind, loyal, understanding, and loving. Your body is everything I could ever want or need. I know you don't believe that you're gorgeous, but you are. You have brought so much love and light to my life, and I can't imagine having anyone else by my side. What I'm trying to say is," Hari pauses, pulling the ring box from his bun and opening it to reveal a golden wedding band. You feel the tears rolling down your cheeks already, and he hasn't even finished proposing. "-little mouse, will you marry me?"

The tears were streaming down your face and you were, once again, unable to form a coherent sentence. Instead of a verbal response, you nodded aggressively, as he slid the wedding band onto your ring finger. "Oh thank the stars you said yes, little mo-" You cut him off with a passionate kiss, your arms lazily wrapped around his neck, and Hari snakes his arm around you, pulling you closer to his body until there was no way for the two of you to be any closer. When neither of you could breathe anymore, you broke the kiss, a small string of saliva connecting your lips. "Hari, I love you so damn much. Please don't you ever change, okay?" The words fell from your lips before you realized what you said. Hari didn't respond, instead deciding to sit under the sakura tree, gesturing for you to join him. You made your way over to him, looking at the wedding band on your left hand over and over again, still in disbelief. You sat down in his lap, snuggling into his body. "Stardust, you have really changed my life. Don't you dare think about saying anything bad about yourself, being you are literally the most perfect person on the Earth and I will fight anyone who disagrees, including you, little mouse."

Your eyes were already shining from the tears, but now they were shining with something else: pure adoration. You adored this man, your fiance so much that it physically hurt you sometimes. Yeah, he was a workaholic, and sometimes a bit cold, but he genuinely cared about you and your wellbeing in every sense of the word. "Hari, I know that it won't happen overnight. That would be stupid of me to think that. But I think that I could really love myself. Because you love me so much. You give me so much confidence that with you, I feel I could do anything. As long as you stay by my side, I don't think you'll have to worry about fighting me. I love you, don't you forget it." You paused for a second, thinking. "Did you plan this entire trip just to propose? I would've said yes no matter where you did it, you know." Hari's entire body stiffened, realizing that he may have been a bit paranoid.

"No... maybe... yes..." Hari muttered under his breath. You just chuckled, looking at the moonlit camellias.
