Work Text:
He was so beautiful — from the porcelain skin outlining his sharp jawline to the pale rose resting on his high cheekbones. Everything about the man was stunning. Izuku couldn’t stop himself from running his fingers down along the closed lids, softly caressing the lashes and humming sweetly in the quiet.
“Kacchan, wake up,” Izuku murmured. “I have a gift for you.”
Izuku always had a gift for Katsuki when he came home from work. Sometimes, it was just a story about how his work shift went. Other times it was a warm bath or exercise. It really depended. Today was going to be a different type of gift, though. He was happy Katsuki was with him. It took him so long to get the other to finally move in. There were stacks of paperwork he needed to sort out but he was finally there.
Every night they shared a bed together. Sleeping simply wasn’t the same if he wasn’t wrapped up in the man’s large arms. Now it was no different. Izuku’s heat was coming and he needed his Alpha to help him through it. It wasn’t the first heat Izuku spent with his mate, but it was looking to be the first one with the Alpha still asleep.
Because Izuku couldn’t wait anymore. Nuzzling softly into the side of Katsuki’s neck, the Omega lowered himself down onto the cock he had been working to full staff. It had been ages since Izuku last felt so full. He held himself back for as long as he could, he really did. He was trying to be a good Omega, but with the man always sleeping so soundly, he couldn’t stop himself from getting a little needy from time to time.
“Ah! Yes, Alpha,” he mewled as his hips rocked back and forth. “P-Perfect, so big.”
Izuku could only stretch himself so wide to fit the Alpha’s massive girth, but the pain was worth it. Tears sprung to the corners of his eyes and drool began to slip over his lip. Heat scourged through his body, lighting him on fire from the inside out as his instincts started to take over.
Rocking himself up and down, using Katsuki’s firm chest to hold himself up, Izuku moaned loudly. There was no one else in their home to hear them, not that Katsuki was going to make a sound, anyway. He was sleeping after all — so, so peacefully.
Each downward roll of his hips sent a tremor racing along Izuku’s spine. He could feel the tip of Katsuki’s dick pounding mercilessly against the sweet bundle of muscles wound tightly within him and Izuku cried out desperately.
“M-More, Alpha,” he pleaded, searching for Katsuki’s usual rough growls or hints of his intoxicating scent. He wanted to feel the man’s fingers clawing into his back, down his sides, and digging into his thighs. He wanted Katsuki’s teeth to sink deep into his flesh, reminding the world once again of who Izuku belonged to.
The Omega missed his deep baritone voice, rumbling and growling with each thrust as he rammed into Izuku with no regard. The greenette wanted to be thrown down and taken from behind, sliding across a countertop or table, deep in a back alley on their way home from a party, or pressed up against some brick wall. He wanted to be marked in so many ways by the man he loved so deeply but knew that it would never come.
Izuku didn't know the next time he would get to spend wrapped up in Katsuki’s arms. He no longer knew when he would see the Alpha’s piercing crimson glare or hear his voice shouting out commands that demanded to be obeyed. He wouldn’t get to see the flash of cockiness behind every smirk tossed in his direction — Katsuki’s usual shit-eating grin in the face of danger.
Were the tears falling down his cheeks because of the dull pleasure he was experiencing — void of all real stimulus — or were they because he missed his mate so, so much? Izuku sobbed as he abated his heat on top of his mate’s cock. He could feel a knot bulging at the base of Katsuki’s erection and found his body choking down the wetted sounds of disbelief.
He felt sickened to know Katsuki’s body could still do everything even if Katsuki’s consciousness refused to surface. There he was, still growing to provide for his mate even if he couldn’t whisper sweet-nothings in Izuku’s ears anymore. He was still sinking deep and filling Izuku up with his seed, coating his walls and locking them together on his knot. But he couldn’t laugh anymore. Katsuki couldn’t walk. He couldn’t smile, or dance, and yell. He was by Izuku’s side, but he wasn’t by Izuku’s side.
As much as Izuku wanted to believe Katsuki was simply sleeping, he knew it wasn’t true. Deep down, behind all the layers he built up to protect himself, Izuku was well aware Katsuki was probably gone. It had been three months, after all. Izuku had no clue when his mate was going to come back into his life. He didn’t know how much longer he could hold on.
It was just easier to tell himself: Katsuki is sleeping. Katsuki will wake up. It made reality hurt a little less with each passing day and if it blurred the lines between the dreamland and his own consciousness, then Izuku wasn’t going to complain. Anything to keep him moving forward so he could be there the day Katsuki woke up.
Izuku shivered at the sensation of his own release plummeting through his body. His fingers squeezed Katsuki’s chest and his cock spurted cum between them. At one point, he would’ve been embarrassed by what he’d done. Katsuki would’ve teased him for the face he made or licked up the creamy substance with his fingers in the most provocative way. There were a lot of things Katsuki would’ve done had he been aware — had he not been in a coma.
Laying down, sprawled out across the Alpha’s chest, Izuku quietly cried himself to sleep to the sound of Katsuki’s heart monitor beeping steadily. He was surprised to find himself waking up slowly to the feeling of his heat subsiding. It shouldn’t have been the case, but then again, Izuku didn’t think about using protection with his comatose mate.
Hell, Izuku didn't even think about what he had done until it was after the fact. Peeling himself away from Katsuki’s unmoving body, Izuku wobbled into the nearest bathroom and fell to the floor in a heap. He spewed what he could into the toilet before climbing into the bath. All his movements were slow — methodical. He moved numbly through life, if that’s what he could even call it anymore.
If it wasn’t for Izuku and his mistakes, if he hadn’t gone back inside that crumbling building, maybe Katsuki would’ve been awake for the Omega’s heat. Katsuki would be able to hear Izuku’s words as he whispered into his ear that night.
“Wake up, Kacchan,” he cooed, running his finger through golden spikes. “Wake up so you can meet your pups.”
In nine months, Izuku would be bringing their babies into the world and he could only hope his Alpha would be there to see it.
