Nico woke up with a start. Even though his bed’s curtains were drawn, he could still feel the warm light from the windows radiating into his bed. Scowling, Nico tried to get up, but he couldn’t. Will Solace, the insufferable Gryffindor that Nico couldn’t possibly grow more annoyed with, had a tight hold on him. Will’s hands pulled Nico closer to himself, as Will mumbled incoherent babbles of nothingness in his sleep. Nico tried to push the Gryffindor off, but no luck.
”Will, get up!” Nico hissed, remembering the silencing charm he had placed last night. “Aren’t you supposed to be a morning person?”
Will stirred, untangling himself from Nico. He rubbed his eyes, squinting to see Nico through the un-alarmingly bright light. His hair was a mess, he was shirtless, and even after last night, Nico still wasn’t used to it. Nico felt his face grow hot and looked away from the Gryffindor.
“Morning, love,” Will said groggily, sitting up and kissing Nico on the lips with what began as a short and chaste peck but turned into a more heated and passionate kiss when Nico refused to let him go. Will’s lips were as soft as ever, and Nico didn’t even care that Will’s hair looked like a bird’s nest — he still had the same effect on Nico. Nico’s knees and legs turned into jelly as Will trailed his hands down Nico’s waist to curving around to Nico’s thighs, pulled Nico into his lap. Nico pushed Will back into the bed, still straddling him, as Will held a tight grip on Nico and peppering him with kisses from his lips to the square of his jaw, down his neck and ending at his exposed collarbone.
“If you leave hickeys, I’ll kill you,” Nico warned. Will laughed, moving a strand of Nico’s hair that fell on Nico’s face.
“Did your roommates leave?” Will asked, noticing the silence and lack of movement outside of the drawn bed curtains.
“Yeah. They’re all morning people who get up at the crack of dawn. That’s why they’re always there at breakfast, no matter what time you arrive,” Nico hummed.
The two stayed in bed a while longer, finding solace in the shared company, and enjoying being in the arms of one another. It wasn’t until the unreasonably annoying alarm clock Will gifted Nico after Nico showed up at breakfast late for the fifth consecutive time back in third year started blaring, signaling a ten minute warning before breakfast.
“We’d better get dressed,” Will said.
“Or we can stay here and pretend we never heard the alarm,” Nico suggested.
“So everyone can find out we’re dating when we both happen to absent on the same day with no warning whatsoever?” Nico paled at the thought.
“Last one to breakfast is paying when we go to Hogsmeade,” Nico challenged, grabbing his discarded robes from the edge of the bed, putting on the first shirt and tie he could find.
“It’s cheating if you get a head start!” Will said, racing to catch up with Nico, clumsily throwing his robes, shirt, and tie on, and running a hand threw his hair to try to make it even and not like he just made out with his boyfriend. Before Will could put his shoes on, Nico grabbed the collar of his shirt and actually gave him a peck this time.
“Hope you’ve been saving up, Solace,” Nico grinned, leaving the otherwise empty dormitory.
“Nico!” Will hissed.
—
Nico sat down next to the seven and Reyna at the Hufflepuff table with a smug look, knowing that he had outrun Will Solace. No one really paid him much attention, too caught up trying to establish the superior breakfast food.
Everyday Nico, Reyna, Calypso, Will, and the seven switched seats between the four Hogwarts houses in attempts to sit together despite all having different houses but still represent their individual houses. Today was in honor of Hufflepuff, or more specifically, Hazel, Frank, and Nico. Yesterday was for the Slytherins, Percy and Piper. Tomorrow was for the Gryffindors, Jason, Reyna, Calypso, and Will. And the next was for the Ravenclaws, Annabeth and Leo.
“Pancakes are definitely better than waffles,” Hazel said. Frank frowned.
“I’d like to bring your attention to french toast,” Leo said.
“No, no, pancakes are the superior breakfast food,” Percy argued, adding maple syrup to his pancake.
“Let’s not forget cereal,” Jason and Piper said in unison.
“Waffles are better,” Frank said.
“Would you stop drowning your pancakes in maple syrup? I’m getting diabetes just from looking at it,” Annabeth said, giving Percy a pointed glare. He smiled sheepishly and set down the maple syrup dispenser, but that didn’t stop the Ravenclaw from pushing him playfully. Nico quietly took a bite of his own maple syrup drowned pancake.
“I think there’s one thing we can all agree on,” Reyna said.
“Which is?” Jason asked.
“We can agree to disagree,” Reyna said in a ‘duh’ tone. Annabeth, Hazel, and Piper hummed in agreement. Percy, Leo, Frank, and Jason frowned
“Or we can vote,” said Leo. The girls groaned.
“Nico, what do you is better?” Reyna asked, acknowledging Nico’s presence. The seven glanced at Nico, but their glance soon turned into more of a gawking stare than a glance. Percy looked at him with an odd and puzzling look, lips slightly parted, and his eyes wide.
“What? Something on my face?” Nico blinked. Now, a few onlookers were looking at him too, with the same look, but before Nico could demand an answer, he noticed Will walk into the Great Hall. Something about the Gryffindor looked different, but Nico couldn’t quite place it. Will strode over to the Hufflepuff table, sitting next to Piper.
“It’s just—“ Hazel began.
“Woah, woah! What’s with you too?” Percy jumped up to his feet, his eyes darting between Nico and Will, who both shared a confused look.
“What?” they asked in unison.
“Your ties!” Hazel said. Slowly, Nico looked at his own tie and then at Will’s. He frowned. What was wrong with— oh.
He was wearing Will’s stupid red and gold tie and Will was sporting Nico’s yellow and black tie, and it looked so hot.
“Fuck,” Nico cursed, taking his head into his hands as his face swelled with heat. Annabeth and Piper shared a knowing look.
Similarly, Will groaned, running a hand through his hair.
“Someone’s got a lot of explaining to do,” Jason said.
“Messy hair, swelled lips, switched ties? I think it’s obvious,” Piper said. Will looked away, touching his lips.
“It’s like Annabeth and Percy all over again!” Leo said. Nico shoved him. Hard.
“So... Will’s your type, huh?” Percy asked, grinning. Jason nudged him. “What? I’m allowed to ask!”
“Fuck off,” Nico scowled.
“Give them a break, Seaweed Brain,” Annabeth said, pulling Percy down next to her.
“If you wanted to keep your relationship a secret, you should’ve wore the right tie,” Reyna rolled her eyes. Jason nodded.
“Maybe if someone hadn’t suggested we race down, loser having to pay for our next date,” Will said nonchalantly, shrugging.
“It’s not my fault you left you tie and robes mixed up with mine,” Nico countered, his face hot, and his hands sweaty.
“It’s not? But I distinctly remember you telling me to just throw them anywhere. Remember? When you were straddling me and—“ Percy and Leo snickered.
“Will!” Nico sputtered. “You’re the worst boyfriend ever!”
“That’s not what you were saying last—“
“Finish that sentence and I’m breaking up with you,” Nico threatened. Will laughed, resting his head on Nico’s shoulder, as Reyna and the others watched them like hawks.
“You guys bicker a lot,” Annabeth said.
“It’s not my fault he’s annoying,” Nico defended.
“No one told you to date him!” Percy pointed out. Nico scowled.
“Shut up,” Nico said, heading out of the Great Hall, still wearing Will’s Gryffindor tie.
“Coward!” Will huffed. The table erupted in laughter.
“I’ll see you at Hogsmeade. At the shrieking shack. Then we’ll see who’s the coward, Solace!”
