jungkook could never put into words how much these little moments meant to him – yoongi and namjoon liked having these little gatherings, especially after a whole week of work. namjoon was also a professor, so his routine and jimin’s were very similar unless they had extra work. the couple already lived together when they got married, and friday night with beer and chicken was almost a weekly thing now. they also counted with seokjin and hoseok, two betas and friends of the couple. they had twins who were always running around and playing on their mat close to their daddies, looking at the grown ups with round eyes, sticking very close to koo and yoongi because their maternal, sweet scent made them feel safe.
it was like he made himself a part of jimin’s life a little bit more every day.
he loved when jimin’s friends – now his friends, too – would tease both of them, especially the alpha, and ask koo for backup because they said his omega knew him better than everyone. it was nice to be acknowledged like that, and he felt his chest puff up a bit with pride because yes, he was jimin's wife, who lived with him and did his laundry and knew each one of his bad mannerisms and habits because jungkook was the one fixing them around the house. and he was so, so very much in love , just like he always had been.
he actually liked to see the alpha’s dirty clothes thrown messily around the laundry basket, or his damp towel on the bed. koo didn’t mind at all picking it up and putting it in the right place, it was a nice reminder of his husband – like he was always there and jungkook was, too. taking care of him in little ways, especially now that he could scent and nuzzle jimin's clothes or jokingly nag at the alpha because he would get it and make up for leaving things messy peppering his wife’s face with kisses, or just picking jungkook up and swirling the younger in the air as if they were in a romantic movie.
he was a fool in love.
jungkook would usually leave their house a few hours before jimin left work, going to the kim’s to help yoongi with snacks and anything he needed. they usually enjoyed baking something together for the pups, cooing when they would always squeal excitedly when being told the big news that there were cookies, cupcakes and any kind of pastries for them. but overall it was just a really nice feeling to have a friend like yoongi – they talked a lot about omega stuff, he liked listening and giving advice especially because koo was younger and to him, especially with his big, doe eyes, he looked like a cute pup, the other always pouting and insisting that "am not, hyung! got married first!".
jungkook had always been shy, he didn’t especially consider it an omega thing even if most omegas were – most of them could be shy at first and open up sweetly after a few minutes. he was just painfully awkward, all his life his only friends were jimin, who was the love of his life and an alpha, and taehyung, the only other omega he could talk to but never too much because he was also the source of some of his problems. and even if tae had been an awful omega to jimin, he was a good friend – but an awful one to jungkook. he was free spirited, never one to get too attached or upset over feelings. but koo was sensitive, very, very sensitive. and their personalities just crashed when the younger would vent and open up about his feelings only to get told that he was overdoing it, that things weren’t that serious. finding someone with a quieter soul, a little more like him made the omega feel validated.
koo also found out that jimin could handle his alcohol, he drank it really well. for all the times he saw his alpha passed out drunk – back when he wasn’t actually his yet, but koo didn’t like taking that into account –, taking care of him in the mornings he woke up feeling like a piece of concrete had replaced his brain and could not stop throwing up, sweating cold from how much he drank, he always thought jimin was the kind of alpha who started drinking and only stopped when he needed help getting back to his own place.
he was not.
jimin actually handled his liquor much better than any other of his friends, and he was totally a cuddly drunk when he was having a few beers. maybe it was just because they were all couples and everyone got a little more touchy and romantic when the alcohol hit; it made the omega giggle, being the only one who didn’t really like beer or much alcohol at all, but jimin’s arms always found a way to get wrapped around his waist, pulling jungkook to cuddle against his side, nuzzling the top of his head and leaving sweet kisses against his temple and forehead. to say it made him almost turn into goo was an understatement – the omega could feel his heart beating so fast , if someone looked really closely, they would be able to see his pupils widening every time he looked at jimin. would he ever get used to this ?
jimin wanted him. jimin was his and was pulling him closer and kissing him and he didn’t have to beg for it.
he really wanted koo.
“what're you thinking about, baby?” the alpha chuckled bopping his nose, sitting next to him and handing seokjin the beer bottle, petting the little girl’s blonde head when she mumbled something behind her paci that sounded awfully like ‘uncle jimin’. jungkook looked up at him, smiling shyly because the answer was already out there when their friends started cooing at both of them, asking if he missed something on jungkook’s heart eyes which made the younger one flush a deep red.
“okay, in jimin’s defense it could have been about the end of the year university party, but he was doing that thing he does when it’s about alpha” yoongi snarked, lifting one of his eyebrows at koo who shook his head, eyes widening and lips pursing at his words. he avoided his husband’s eyes when jimin stared at him, a playful “is that so?” leaving his lips, and the traitor confirmed. jimin was not supposed to know he was insecure about it! “yeah, he’s been talking about it all the time, but i’ve already told him it’s not scary to be up there and pretty fun to celebrate with the students who graduated.” he ran his bony fingers through his hair – it was almost white now, smirking at koo and laughing quietly at the big pout on the other lips.
okay that jungkook wasn’t petty enough to fight with his best friend over something like this, but he actually didn’t want jimin to know. because it was silly and he felt a little dumb and stupid to worry about it – all these years taehyung attended the end of the year party without a problem, he could do it too, right? he wasn’t going to embarrass jimin. koo hoped not. but jimin had been engaged to an artist – a big one, taehyung did really well for himself, he had a name -, and that was a perfect match for the educated, hardworking man he was, a PhD in molecular sciences himself. jungkook used to be a kindergarten teacher, maybe people would look at him and ask his alpha what he had in mind to choose him as an omega. he hoped not, until now every one of his husband’s coworkers had been nice or at least civil with him.
they had to go back home not much later, the twins had been sleepy and cranky and jimin thought that was also a perfect excuse to steal jungkook all for himself and have the perfect night in, just cuddling him and watching something together, maybe ordering food if they felt like it. the alpha liked to think spending so much time with koo was rubbing off on him, he was never one to be this clingy . sure, the professor enjoyed spending time together and displays of affection, but he never thought he would find himself craving for those, especially after only a few hours apart. jimin would grunt when he got home and koo’d be too busy making dinner for them, giggling because his husband was so cute, back hugging him and placing his chin on the crook of his neck, trying to tug him to the couch, grumbling that dinner could wait and he needed to scent his omega now.
the professor would find himself wishing his classes ended a bit earlier so he could go home, looking at the back of his notebook now filled with post-its from several days where his wife would stick them on top of his lunch boxes, cute notes making him smile especially when jungkook sent little reminders like “don’t forget to take the antibiotic at 2pm!! or i’ll be angry!!” , “buying the ingredients koo (me) is going to need to prepare jimin (you!) pho because u asked” . he was so thoughtful in every little thing he did it made the alpha’s heart ache a bit, couldn’t believe he hadn’t noticed how much effort he put into making jimin happy – maybe it was the way jungkook just made it seem natural, like the loving and nurturing person he was.
he felt perfectly happy to plop himself down on the bed, feeling jungkook snuggle against his chest just on his lacy panties after taking off his vintage dress, trying to control himself before he started pressing his hard cock against his omega’s delicate thighs. he was so pretty, smooth all over, peachy ass looking even perkier under the lacy fabric. jimin could eat him whole. but for now, he was happy to nuzzle his hair, letting out a deep purr at the scent of strawberry, fresh laundry, feeling a wet kiss being pressed on his chest, his mate rubbing his nose on his skin like a little kitten. it was bliss.
the whole room smelled happy, content, safe, their scents perfectly mixed – no longer like the days where he would curl up in one of the sides of the bed, back tuned to jungkook. he'd sometimes felt the other adjusting his blanket, or kissing his cheek when he woke up, but his mind only saw that as a slight inconvenience back then. how stupid. so, so fucking stupid when he could bask in so much love and adoration coming from someone, being the one in the receiving end, not one always endlessly giving. it was tiring. and of course, jungkook deserved all of it back, it was just nice to know it was mutual. that they felt the same about it.
he always felt a little softer when his mate started to purr – an alpha’s purr wasn’t all that cute, chest rumbling low, almost like a growl. but omegas were used when they were feeling their happiest, safest, more comfortable state, sometimes used to calm their pups down if they ever had one. it really sounded like a small kitten, purring against his chest cutely, making jimin hold himself back from cooing.
there was a framed picture of him and taehyung staring at them from one of the shelves, and if he wasn’t so comfortable and with jungkook draped all over him, almost dozing off, he would get up just to flip it until it was backwards. it felt – wrong. having something like that looking at them on a very personal moment, when jungkook was so vulnerable – when he was vulnerable enough to admit that he was falling for the omega, that maybe he couldn’t ever match how much jungkook loved him but he could try spending the rest of his days making him feel like the most cherished wife on earth.
their house still had some traces of his previous relationship, it was not like he still wanted anything to do with taehyung, not anymore at least. he thought about him once in a while, it was more not than often now. he supplied his time with his work, research and relationship, which was doing great – being with tae before gave him also the chance to see what he could do better with jungkook. because he was going to own up and act like a husband did not mean he had to make the same mistakes. but the framed pictures were still there – he didn’t have the heart to throw these out, not yet. because it didn’t feel like that was the taehyung he had broken up with, the one who left him, but his boyfriend who used to be his best friend too. the one who was by his side in all of his stupid and best moments. so, they stayed at home – jungkook never really said anything, he didn’t seem to have a problem with them when he'd dust the house, just put them back in place like they meant nothing - if he ever asked, jimin would take them away. the beach picture was still tucked inside his drawer, but he never really took it out again.

meeting taehyung during his work hours was honestly the worst option jimin could think of, there was no fucking way out of his own work and now he had to deal with tae right there. it was definitely hard juggling his past feelings, being honest with himself and still reassuring jungkook that he was the only one for jimin at the same time. but taehyung was one of the best artists they had living close to the campus, and having him working in the art studio, helping the students getting hands on with the mediums they were going to work with was definitely a great addition.
needless to say, jungkook was not happy to see his husband talking to the other man, who seemed a little too friendly, placing a hand on his shoulder and throwing his head back while laughing brightly at his words. it made his blood boil, cheeks flushing up in anger – making the omega walk up to both of them in firm steps, which weren’t that firm, but the best he could do with wobbly knees, playing with the hem of his dress trying not to upset jimin with his silly jealousy, but those brows pulled into a frown and lips jutting out made his feelings clear as a day.
“so, uhm, welcome tae! you can always ask for help at the front desk if you need anything or the responsible for the studio and they’ll request the supplies for you, my office hours are a bit crazy for now, so… we’ll see each other around.” he gave the other omega an awkward smile, rubbing the nape of his neck before turning to jungkook with a sweet smile, pecking his lips slowly and looking at how cute he looked. it was definitely one of his favorite dresses, the ones he only got to see in super special occasions – like the dinner date they were going to.
“it’s okay, min. thank you for everything, have you and guk been well?” he smiled, shuffling on his feet and glancing at the younger one, biting his lip when his eyes settled on the pretty wedding band around his finger. it was a pretty golden band – the golden band that was meant to be his, and for the first time that made the artist swallow dryly maybe wishing it had been, just thinking slightly how things could have gone differently. taehyung was happy – he was, it was just- jungkook was glowing. he held back from asking if he was expecting, knew that was his biggest dream since they were growing up.
“we’re doing great, taehyung-ssi. just about to leave for dinner, so, i hope you don't mind me stealing jimin now.” jungkook answered, trying to keep his tone even – it did sound a bit clipped, but he couldn't care less when jimin himself assured him that they were done, intertwining their hands together before bidding the artist goodbye, walking down the aisle nuzzling the side of jungkook’s face and pressing kisses on his cheeks, saying how much he had missed him.
it was weird, to say at least, seeing him like that. jimin almost felt like a different person, maintaining a good distance while talking to him and keeping his answers short, restricted to whatever he asked, no more eyes oozing love – the same way he did even after they broke up, when they bumped into each other, jungkook in picture or not. it didn’t look like he was stopping himself from wrapping his arms around taehyung and begging him to come back, and even then, back when they were dating jimin was never clingy like this – being all over him and saying he missed the omega after hours apart. maybe because he never gave him space enough, he wasn’t one to be so open about his feelings, probably would feel awkward if the alpha did – but now it just felt like too much, weight setting into his chest as he saw jimin doing all of it to jungkook. him, of all people, who was always by their side and taehyung bluntly ignored because the omega knew he could have jimin back from him whenever he wanted. koo was just the smaller, childhood friend, pinning after the alpha he couldn’t have.
big mistake to think that - because now he couldn't anymore, and it made him feel helpless.
jungkook had been, one day, the gangly child with chubby cheeks, following them around like a puppy, picking flowers and handing them to jimin like the lovesick baby he was. but things started to change when he hit fifteen – even if he was in love with jimin much earlier than that, his hips got wider and koo got plumper like omegas were meant to. and so did jimin’s interest. he was already dating taehyung, but as a teenager full of hormones, he could see how hot jungkook looked now. it made his alpha go crazy, and that was the exact reason they started all that mess, hooking up whenever the alpha and taehyung broke up. maybe it was meant to be all along.
but it also brought some sort of comfort to the artist thinking how people used to say he and jimin would end up getting married one day, calling them soulmates – maybe they were meant to be instead, and jungkook was just getting in the way. taking something that was his, and that’s why it didn’t settle well now. taehyung made a bad decision like every person did at some point, he deeply believed those were part of growing up – but he could make up for it, show jimin they could be happy as they were and put that as an incident behind them if he realized that was what he really wanted this time, he just had to sort those weird, uncomfortable feelings first, making him walk to the opposite side the couple had with a uneasy feeling settling into his stomach – it felt a lot like regret and fear.

after a week just watching jimin from afar, taehyung decided that a few months away from the man he loved had been for the best – it felt like discovering jimin all over again, the same thrilling sensation he always got when facing a challenge running through his body.
his eyes still had the same sparkle when he talked about home, even talking about pups in the future but taehyung was no longer in the picture - that was the difference now, how indifferent he seemed every time the omega tried to start a conversation when they met, making him admit deep down that he missed being look at like he was jimin's whole world, the love of his life.
he had to change that.
spending his lunch break at jimin’s office despite the other’s protests looked like a perfect way to get close again, dismissing his cranky remarks with a laugh before taehyung made his way inside and plopped himself down in the chair in front of him, taking a bite from his kebab while making himself comfortable to make a point that he was not leaving before jimin sighed in defeat, dropping his head back with a groan, making his way back to his chair.
“what do you want, tae? it’s lunchtime” he snapped, picking up his lunchbox left on top of the wooden table, feeling a little calmer at the sight of his wife’s cute calligraphy, taking off the post it and sticking it to the closest notebook. he wanted to enjoy the food in silence, thinking about jungkook with him just a few minutes ago, right there inside his office giving him kisses until he had to pry the alpha off, shy laugh escaping him when the older man’s hands got a little too naughty, pushing his skirt up, grabbing his ass and taking his lips in a possessive kiss. koo was so pretty, jimin felt like he had to mark him up, tell everyone this omega was his.
“i feel awkward having lunch with the other teachers, i don’t know any of them. c’mon man, we were best friends. have lunch with me, okay?” he pushed his fringe to the side, looking very small inside the big sweater and for once jimin slumped on the comfortable chair, answering a clipped “fine” , skin itching to see him sitting where his omega had been previously - covering his scent - tie suddenly feeling tighter around his neck making him swallow dryly, the feeling that he had just did jungkook wrong creeping up.
the alpha hoped it was going to be a one-time thing, taehyung had always been a social butterfly and for sure he would make friends soon - he did, the whole art department loved the new tutor - but he never really stopped showing up. jimin started to worry, skin itching every time his ex-fiancée showed up not ten minutes after jungkook left - it felt bad, wrong, dirty. there was no option left but confront him about it when his orders to leave and stop doing it seemed to fall on deaf ears, the harmless lunches always having a heavier tone - a bit more flirty, asking about his relationship and things he didn't feel comfortable sharing with someone he had previously been in a relationship with. it was just painfully obvious taehyung didn't take him seriously when he denied his advances, he took all of it as a fun game when it wasn't.
every time the older omega showed up, jimin felt like he was putting all the trust and work he put into his relationship at risk. it made his stomach churn, remembering how jungkook still thought so lowly of himself - so tiny and vulnerable, crying for him like he had to all those months ago, the slow-going process of making him feel valued, important, loved. god, jimin loved his wife so much, and he would confront taehyung about it if that's what it took to keep koo safe and happy, that felt like the right thing.
"taehyung, i don't mean to be rude but- what's all of" he made a vague gesture to the omega in front of him and his discarded lunch, making sure to expose the gold wedding band on his finger in case the other didn't notice, feeling his head throb painfully at his playful smirk. "this? because it has to stop."
"does it, though? we're not doing anything" the omega mused, playing with the chopsticks in his hand with a side smile - and for once it infuriated him how taehyung could never take feelings seriously. the alpha bit down a growl, squaring his shoulders and leaning forward.
"yeah, it does. and it will stop, i don't care what you want out of this because if it's just a friendly lunch-"
"it's not." the omega cut the professor off before he could finish, pulling himself to his feet and leaving just a few centimeters between them - close enough to feel jimin's breath against his face. "you know it's not, jimin. i miss this- just us being together and talking, you do too! jungkook is nice, god, i feel bad but you never loved him, what the fuck are you trying to play here? just stop and we can go back-" the alpha pulled back so hard his back hit the shelves of books behind him, shaking his head while he let out a disbelieving scoff, making his way to the door as the smell lf tangerines started to make him sick. not this again.
"i don't think i need to remind you that i am married, taehyung-ssi, and that you're still strictly my coworker. you're crossing every line here, and you're making me uncomfortable so i'll make this very clear to you: if you keep showing up at my office or looking for me without a work-related reason, i'll report it as harassment because i already asked you not to. and if you fuck anything up with jungkook? that's not the only thing you're going to worry about" jimin seethed, nostrils flaring in anger as he lightly pushed the omega out of the room, locking it door behind him, feeling disgusting with himself; his alpha was curling up in shame for hiding something from his mate, making the professor rub his face with both hands and run his fingers through his hair until it looked like a mess, sending an email to his students notifying the afternoon class would be cancelled before making his way to the car, eager to finally get home and take his sweetheart into his arms. anything else could wait for now.
-x-
jimin had worried like crazy jungkook would catch on taehyung's scent after the first visits to his office, but after the omega didn't say anything, he assumed jungkook never noticed the older omega's scent. maybe he didn't brush anywhere where tae had been, or putting enough distance between them had finally been enough.
(it had not. )
instead of talking to his wife when it happened for the first - or second - time, explaining what happened like he should, the alpha just tried forgetting about it and pretending his ex-fiancée didn't keep showing up at random hours on his office door for the most stupid reasons for almost two weeks, each day trying to keep their relationship a little more casual and friendly - a little too friendly - until he felt like he should put a foot down, demand him to stop that and respect the relationship he was in. but this time jimin was determined to talk to jungkook as soon as he got home, finally coming clean about it and put that past them since it was finally over.
he realized how bad of a fuck up that was when jungkook hugged and kissed him welcome like he did every day, but when he looked up there were no grabby hands and lips jutting out asking for more kisses, no clingy omega trying to scent him - there was his baby looking at him with that expression again, just like he had the first time they slept together and jimin had asked him to leave because taehyung could barge in at any moment. those wide, teary eyes looking up at him with broken trust, lips trembling and nose already tinting pink while the omega swallowed dryly, trying to make himself smaller under his gaze.
"you were with him. again." his voice was cold, tone acid - it made a shiver run down the alpha's spine. that was the first time he heard his baby sound like that. if he wasn't such a sensitive person, holding his hands against his chest as he took a teary breath, it would be easy to think he was angrier than hurt.
"yeah- yeah, baby, but it's nothing like that- why does it matter?" you're my wife, we didn't do anything, jimin wanted to say. wanted to wrap his arms around jungkook's waist, pull him closer and kiss all those insecurities away, be the one to make him feel loved the same way he did him feel like a replacement before.
"it matters because you always choose him over me! and i'm stupid enough to stay by your side even when you-" jungkook's voice wavered, hiding his face behind his hands when a sob broke through his words, finally letting the tears flow when the scent of tangerines coming from jimin hit his nose - the clothes he always scented after doing laundry, nuzzling and covering them in his scent so people knew that he belonged to jungkook and jungkook alone. he was stupid, stupid, stupid, but he loved jimin so much, why wasn't that ever enough?
it stung. kοο hated that fucking scent.
"no, i don't." he answered, walking to the omega and finally pulling him to his chest like he waited for all day, nuzzling the top of his head while his skinny shoulders shook with the force of his sobs. "i used to, and i can't change that but baby- you're my wife, there's nothing above that. he was coming to my office to have lunch and talk but i told him to leave , okay? that's choosing you. and i'd do it again and again, and i will until you understand there's no one else for me" the omega whined, feeling his body go lax against the other’s hold – he was so weak for jimin, but that was fine as long as the alpha kept holding him like this, leaving kisses repeatedly over their mating bite - it calmed him down almost instantly, reminded that yes, he was jimin's omega, the only one to have him like this.
the older soothed him, wiping away the fat tears tracking down his cheeks - his baby was so sensitive, it broke his heart seeing him cry like that again. but his smell wasn't bitter anymore, he just seemed a little upset at everything, fisting the older one's trench coat into his tiny fists and rubbing his forehead all over his chest and neck, scent marking him again. jungkook was adorable, it made his heart hurt.
"hmmh, i'm all yours, aren't i?" he teased, lifting the omega with one hand on the back of his thighs, very careful not to bother him during a special moment, taking jungkook to one of the chaise they liked to cuddle in the living room while he tucked one strand of the omega's hair behind his ear affectionately, bleached tips falling in front of his eyes while the younger one tried calming down his pitiful sniffles.
"a-all mine" jungkook answered, digging his nails a bit too strongly on his alpha's neck when jimin grabbed his hips, pulling him closer until they were completely pressed together, basking in each other's warmth - he wanted people to see the scratch, wanted tae to see he did that -, rubbing their lips together lazily, just enjoying the way his mate's petrichor scent slowly mixed with fresh laundry and strawberries and his lips got wet with his saliva, nipping at the sensitive skin and sucking it like he was the one claiming jimin this time. "mine, mine, you're mine."
the alpha couldn't agree more, thoughts already growing fuzzy while jungkook pushed his chest back, making him lean against the seat, taking his cock out of his slacks - kiss growing sloppy, wet sounds filling the room along with the omega's needy whines, rutting the alpha's cock over his panties making them all dirty with slick and precum before growing too desperate, pushing them down to sink himself on his mate - his husband's cock - showing him who truly owned it, who was the one to make him feel good and to satisfy every one of his needs.
koo felt claimed when the other's knot was fit snugly inside his pussy, feeling the alpha pick his fucked out body and feel the alpha's fingers pushing the cum back inside his cunt, growling "keep it inside baby, don't waste alpha's seed like that", to which he could only whine and clench around the digits, purring as he felt the hands gently massaging his body, whispering the sweetest words against his ears - i love you, jungkook.
that's all he could hear, everything that happened during the day feeling like a mindless buzz behind jimin's voice saying i love you, i love you over and over, plump lips brushing against his ear - before leaving it and finally pressing kisses on top of his head, nuzzling him and keeping jungkook safe in his hold.
it felt like his heart was about to burst when he found himself with jungkook laying on top of him - his favorite position, head laying on his husband's shoulder lazily, trailing his fingers all over jimin's chest with a dazed smile on his face; for the first time the alpha felt safe, confident enough to be open about his feelings - koo deserved to know exactly what happened, how scared he felt thinking about losing him and feeling like he failed the younger one more time. jimin felt sure enough to tip his head up with a finger under his chin, pressing a slow kiss against his lips and assuring the omega he was the love of his life.
he felt like he could finally thank jungkook for all the years the omega loved him unconditionally when he was a dick in return.
but nothing of that mattered now, because koo was the happiest he had ever been - and he made sure to tell jimin that, because they belonged to each other, like every other couple, and his alpha finally looked at him like he wouldn't trade what they had for anything else in the world - like his wife was the only thing that mattered.
the next day, the alpha made sure to go out and get some pictures developed - the special ones. the framed pictures inside their house were slowly replaced, and the framed beach picture didn't stay tucked inside his office drawer anymore - it was long gone.
