Work Text:
It has been two years since the bridge incident.
One year since Daisuke first asked Haru out for a dinner.
Three months since they officially started dating each other.
Haru couldn’t refuse but to admit that the two years have been a roller coaster of emotions for him. But he is happy. Daisuke is a great boyfriend. The guy is handsome, smart, most of the time clingy, and totally amazing in bed. He is rich too. A fucking billionaire. It’s not really a problem to Haru that Daisuke has a lot of money, it’s just the way rich people think sometimes annoys him.
Recently, Daisuke has been asking him weird questions.
“Babe, diamonds or no diamonds?”
“Hmm, what are you talking about?”
“A ring. With diamonds or no diamonds?”
“I don’t know? Without diamonds I guess?”
“Hmm, with diamonds.”
“Why are you asking me then?”
Ignoring Haru's bickering, Daisuke continues to focus on the report he is working on, like the conversation before never happened.
At another time, when they are on a mission.
“Haru, where in the world would you wanna go?”
“Are you seriously asking me this now?”
“Yeah, why not?”
Haru knows Daisuke is really stubborn about trivial things like this. Normally, he would definitely debate with him. But now, it’s not the time. They are on a mission!
“Thailand then! They have good food! Traveling there is cheap too.”
Haru doesn’t really think hard on this one. He has been wanting to visit Thailand but got no decent time to travel. Well, he actually has no money to go there as well. Daisuke stares at him, then smirks.
“My poor baby. You could have picked anywhere else. Your boyfriend is me, you know that?”
“Oh shut up! Can we focus on the mission now?”
And when they are at Daisuke’s place.
“A yacht would be nice, hmm?”
“What are you talking about again?”
Haru is preparing for their dinner, and there is Daisuke sitting at the table doing nothing. Daisuke has never learned to cook or anything. The only time he tried to use the kitchen was when they had their first night together, Daisuke made Haru breakfast and it turned out to be absolutely horrible. Since then, they have decided that Haru would be the one cooking or they would eat out.
“I don’t know. A party?”
“You want to throw a party? For what? Your birthday was already last month.”
“Not my birthday! Something else!”
“Not your birthday then what?” Haru has already done with their meal and begins placing the food on the table.
“Umm, a wedding?”
“A wedding?”
Haru looks at Daisuke with confusion. Daisuke has been weird recently. He asked Haru about really random stuff that has nothing to do with their conversation. Haru has never thought over why Daisuke behaves that way. He just knows his boyfriend sometimes is really awkward. Haru catches a glimpse of redness on Daisuke’s ears. Daisuke averts his eyes. Now, having thought it over, Haru thinks he has connected the dots.
“Our wedding?”
“Whose else could it be?”
Daisuke frowns. But the blush has crept up his cheeks. Haru couldn’t help but admire how cute his boyfriend is.
“Isn’t it too early to talk about this?” Haru smirks as he suddenly has the urge to tease Daisuke.
“What do you mean by too early? It’s been a year.”
“Daisuke, we just started dating for three months.”
“Three months are enough, don’t you think? You and I are not kids anymore.”
“But we need to have more time to know each other better. Rushing is no good since I don’t want to regret anything.”
“We literally spend our days 24/7 together. I think we understand each other well enough,” Daisuke said as he finally looks at Haru in the eyes, “also, I don’t think we are going to regret it.”
“You are very confident huh?”
“Of course,” then Daisuke suddenly freeze, “Damn, don’t tell me you don’t want to marry me.”
“I’m not sure,” Haru chuckles, “I got no proposal so I don’t know.”
That’s right. This Kambe Daisuke didn’t propose him or anything. He just blurted out the ring, the wedding, then traveling shit.
Daisuke looks like he is realizing something, then he suddenly got his devilish smile on his face.
“So my little puppy, who said a man doesn’t need romantic shit, now wants me to get on my knee to propose with a ring right?”
“What? I don’t need you to do that shit,” Haru quickly denies then his voice gets smaller, “But hey, if you ask me, it… would be nice, you know.”
Haru is definitely not into romantic love or anything. But he is a pure type, thinking that a confession, a saying “I love you” or something, a proposal would make the relationship more real, more official.
Daisuke couldn’t hold in his smile. His boyfriend is damn cute! How can he not want to get married as soon as possible? Then he stands up, reaches out to lift Haru’s face.
“Sorry, I do want to propose you but, man, you got me!” Who wouldn’t after his awkward way of asking things around? “Anyway, will you marry me?”
Haru couldn’t help but feel butterflies in his stomach. He probably cries soon as his eyes are getting a little bit red. He is damn happy. Hearing the real deal is always much better. As Daisuke looks at him with hope, Haru nods.
“Well, I mean… I don’t really have other choices.”
Daisuke lets out a relieved smile, then proceeds to hug Haru.
The next day, both of them go to work a ring on their hands, with lots of diamonds of course.
One month later, they get married at a church, as Haru’s request. Then the damn-billionaire throws a party on a yacht for three days straight. After that, the couple goes on a honeymoon to seven destinations in two weeks, starting with Bangkok.
“It’s the rich people shit”, Hoshino said as his colleagues asked him about Haru and Daisuke.
Well, it’s truly Daisuke’s shit of spending money lavishly. Haru does complain about how his husband overspending on unnecessary things. But once in a while, he lets himself enjoy things Daisuke spends for both of them. After all, that is his way of conveying love.
