Summary:

A domestic day in the Bakugou-Kirishima household.

My pinch hitter gift for Mishie! Not my best work, but I hope you liked how it turned out! This was made for the BNHA Secret Santa 2019!

Work Text:

"We should take Hādo out with us, you know. It's been forever since we've gotten time alone with her."

Bakugou stirred at what he registered as a faint mumble, pulling Kirishima further into his chest with the movement. The giggle that came from his husband only served to further his awareness of the world, when really, all he wanted to do was further lodge himself into the plush sheets and not wake up. Stupid Deku could take his patrols from now on, anyway.

"I'm serious! I mean, there's this new cat cafe down Osaka— and Hādo rivals even Shinsou in her love of cats. It'll be just like a date before we got all this extra workload dumped onto us." Kirishima looked at Bakugou, frowning. "Are you even listening to me?" He began to sound exasperated.

Bakugou scoffed. "First of all, nobody can rival Mind Freak's little cat obsession. Second of all, no. Hādo's out of school for the rest of the week, we're out of duty for the next two days, and I wanna fucking sleep. And you probably do, too."

"Fine." Kirishima threw himself out of his bed, stretching out his limbs. "I'll tell Hādo her papa chickened out off taking her out on the town with her dad..."

Bakugou took about five seconds after Kirishima spoke up to rush out off bed and begin getting ready in unison with his husband. "Like hell you will, shitty hair."

"That nickname still sticks, even though I stopped using that hairstyle years ago, huh?" Kirishima said, chuckling breathily as he cycled through his clothing, gathering his garment of choice piece by piece.

These were the moments Bakugou lived for. When all they heard was the sound of their own voices, no interviewers asking incessant questions about their private life or battles. Just them.

"Hādo, wake up!" A yell came from Hādo's bedroom, and Bakugou could hear the eight-year-old lightly shift, the bed creaking lightly. Bakugou walked into the girl's bedroom to see her looking at Kirishima with an irritated expression.

"I thought we didn't have school. Lemme sleep." She grumbled, before pressing her face further into her pillow.

"C'mon! Me and papa were gonna take you to that new cat cafe-" At that, Hādo shot up, her irritated expression disappearing in less than a second. "I'll get dressed!" She shot over to her closet, leaving Kirishima and Bakugou to walk out of her room and into the kitchen.

"What d'you want to eat?" Kirishima asked, head laying lazily on Bakugou's shoulder.

"Like Hell I'm ever gonna let you cook again. You burnt the fucking water trying to make Mac n' Cheese. Besides, we're already going out to eat, dumbass." Bakugou said.

Ignoring Bakugou's last sentence, Kirishima lightly scoffed. "I didn't burn the water. It just sat there for so long it evaporated."

"So, you burnt it," Bakugou said, mouth set in a stiff line.

"Fuck off-" Kirishima startled, stopping in the middle of his sentence when Hādo entered the room.

"I'm ready!"

"You trying to become Spongebob? Because I hate that yel-"

"You look great!" Kirishima interrupted, glaring daggers at Bakugou as he corrected him. "Now, let's go. The cafe closes at one, and it's eleven o'clock already." He glanced at Bakugou. "No thanks to you shattering your alarm clock yesterday."

"I don't control time, bastard!" Hādo sensed the oncoming argument and tugged at both her parent's arms. "Let's just go!"

Hādo had already busied herself petting a cat by the time Kirishima and Bakugou had gotten within ten feet of the restaurant.

They decided to walk and talk— only to devolve into the 'you burnt the water' discussion again— before they decided to just admire the scenery of Osaka.

"Wait for us!" Kirishima said, jogging up to his and Katsuki's daughter. He panted a bit.

"You fight villains for a living, and chasing after an eight-year-old is what tires you out? Seriously?" Bakugou said, crossing his arms.

"You underestimate how fast an excited eight year old can be. They're agile." Kirishima said, wiping a sheen of dust from his winter coat.

"Let's just go inside, get Hādo her sh-" Kirishima glared at Bakugou when Hādo looked up, "stuff, and leave. Been wantin' to book it home since we started walking."

Kirishima sighed but chuckled. "You love spending time with us. Don't be a liar, dude. That's unheroic."

Bakugou snickered. "Well, I definitely like spending time with Hādo."

"Lies and slander!" Kirishima yelled.

After their quite short visit to the cafe (only Kirishima and Bakugou even ate anything, Hādo just pet the cats), the group of three were walking home, only for Hādo to tread off the trail they were walking.  Kirishima turned around, to see the girl looking through a window. Kirishima sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Hādo!" He called out.

"Dad! Look at her!" Bakugou noticed Hādo's gaze was trained on a puppy, a clear sable, by the looks of it. It was small, and Bakugou felt a pang of- something.

"Let's just take a look at it, okay?" Bakugou said, walking in, Hādo and Kirishima following behind.

"Hello! What do you need today?" The intern at the desk said.

Not trusting Bakugou to speak (he'd grown exponentially in not insulting people, but he was still a bit apprehensive to people with to much pep), Kirishima did instead. "Can we have a look at her, please?"

"Of course!" The girl at the desk walked towards the cage and unlocked it. "You might wanna be careful with her. She was abused; not used to people being near her and not doing something."

The clerk sounded downhearted. Kirishima and Bakugou left Hādo to play with the dog for about ten minutes before it seemed the girl finally came to a conclusion. "I want her." She said, her voice sounding serious as the dog sat restfully in her lap.

"She likes you a lot." The intern said, getting the papers.

They named the dog Mina. Its amount of energy was a bit concerning.
