Josuke coughed again, making Rohan glance back at the living room couch to make sure the younger man was doing alright. He had never taken care of anyone before, so he wasn’t entirely sure what he was doing, but he knew he owed it to his boyfriend.
No, it was more than just that. Rohan actually wanted to take care of Josuke as weird as that was. They’d been together for a little less than a year, but… He’d really grown to care for the pompadoured brat during that time. They had already been friends before then, but it wasn’t until they started dating that Rohan truly realized how much he actually cared about Josuke.
He stirred the soup with a small frown on his face, glancing back at the cabinet where the medicine was located. If he remembered correctly from when the other man had taken care of him, all he had to do was get Josuke to take his medicine and make him rest.
“Babe,” Josuke whined from his spot on the couch. “Come back. I’m lonely… and in pain.” His voice sounded a tad more nasally than usual, and there was a slight raspy edge to it.
Rohan rolled his eyes, turning off the stove and grabbing a clean bowl to pour some of the soup on. “I’m making you some food, idiot.”
Josuke made a soft disgruntled noise, burying himself further into the blankets around him. “Jeez… don’t be mean to me, I’m dying here."
"There will be no dying," Rohan said, rummaging through his drawer to find a spoon before walking over to Josuke. He carefully set down the bowl on the table in front of Josuke, placing the spoon next to it. "Now eat, so that you can take your medicine."
After a few seconds, Josuke glanced up at him, then back at the bowl of soup. "Wait. You made me this? I thought you were kidding." His lips quirked up into a smile and his cheeks took on a pink shade. "Will you spoon feed me too? My arms hurt soooooo much."
"Don't be a baby, you can feed yourself, Josuke," Rohan said, walking back to the kitchen to pour Josuke a glass of water. He picked up the pills on his way back, not at all surprised to find that Josuke hadn't touched his soup at all, and instead was pouting at him. Rohan placed the water and pills down next to the bowl. "Eat."
With a heavy sigh, Josuke picked up his spoon and frowned down at his soup. Rohan sat down next to him, watching as he slowly put the spoon in his mouth. He groaned, swallowing his food before placing the spoon down on the table again. Rohan cocked an eyebrow at him, silently asking him what was wrong. "It's too hot," Josuke said, leaning back on the couch and wrapping the blankets around him tighter.
Despite being nearly twenty one years old, Josuke was acting like a baby. Rohan shook his head, carefully picking up the bowl and the spoon. Josuke peeked out from his ball of blankets, a tiny smile playing on his lips. Rohan pretended not to notice and got some of the soup on the spoon before gently blowing on it and bringing it up to Josuke's lips. "There. It's less warm. Eat."
Josuke quickly as he was told, slurping down the soup and making a small pleased sound. "Thank you, babe," he said with a smile. "You're the best."
Rohan could feel his face heat up, but he still scoffed, picking up more soup with the spoon. He blew on it before moving it towards Josuke. "You're such a big baby sometimes, Josuke."
"Hey, c'mon, I'm allowed to today," Josuke said after he'd swallowed the soup, looking at Rohan again. "I actually do feel like shit."
Instead of answering, Rohan sighed, feeding more soup to Josuke. He knew it was true. The boy had never gotten sick for as long as Rohan had known him, so he must be feeling terrible. That was the only reason why he'd agreed to actually spoon feed him.
As soon as Rohan finished feeding Josuke all of the soup, he placed the bowl and the spoon back on the table. Josuke had a goofy smile on his face and he had been staring at Rohan for longer than usual.
"It's time for your medicine, Josuke." Rohan picked up the pills, opening the bottle before pulling two and closing it back up. He handed them to Josuke before passing him the water.
Before taking his medicine, Josuke took Rohan's hand and pressed a small kiss on it. He didn't say anything, but he didn't let go of Rohan's hand either. Josuke's hand was sweaty and clammy, but Rohan still held onto it tightly. He watched as the younger drank his medicine then took the glass away from him to place it on the table.
"How are you feeling? Do you wanna go to sleep?" Josuke hummed softly before nodding. Okay, perfect. He needed some rest in order to properly recover. "You can have my bed, I'll work on the desk in the room so you can let me know if you need anything, alright?"
With some effort, Rohan managed to help Josuke (along with all of the blankets he refused to let go of) walk upstairs and into his room.
Josuke laid down on his side of the bed and groaned softly as he pulled the blankets closer to him. "It's colder here."
Only half ignoring his protest, Rohan wrapped an extra blanket around Josuke, tucking him in before glancing back up at his face. "Rohan… thank you for taking care of me. I like it when you're sweet like this."
Rohan felt his face heat up and he looked away from Josuke with a small smile playing on his lips. "Yeah, well. Don't get used to it, brat."
"I love you too, babe," Josuke said with a grin.
