“Are you… are you sure ‘bout this bro?” Okuyasu asked, staring straight at the phone in his hands. Josuke couldn’t really tell what his friend was feeling, his face was blank, devoid of any of it’s usual expressions, as he stared at the -rather embarrassing- picture.
Josuke scratched the back of his head, taking his phone back from his friend. He could feel his face heat up at the sight of him in the sailor uniform with the short skirt. It was white with green and a big pink bow in the middle of his chest. The only thing he was missing so far was the red wig.
He definitely didn’t look bad, but… wearing this in front of thousands of people was going to be absolutely terrifying.
Still, he had agreed to do this with his boyfriend. And, despite popular belief, Josuke was a man of his word.
Rohan had told him about this anime convention months ago, dropping not-so-subtle hints that he wanted to go together. Josuke had agreed, of course. Manga and anime were literally Rohan’s life… not only because writing manga was what he did for a living, but because the man was a big fan of certain shows. He couldn’t not indulge his boyfriend. Unfortunately, he didn’t know that, in the process of saying yes to going to the convention, he had also agreed to cosplay characters from Rohan’s favorite anime.
The anime that Rohan loved the most was none other than Sailor Moon.
Josuke knew how much Rohan adored Sailor Moon; the man had two copies of every manga volume and figures of every single character. The mangaka had even made Josuke sit with him and watch the first few episodes. After that, they’d ended up watching the whole thing. It wasn’t bad; Josuke had actually really enjoyed watching it.
When it came time to decide which characters they would cosplay, they got into a short argument about who would be Sailor Moon and who would be Tuxedo Mask. In order to settle things, they each decided to just cosplay their favorite scout. That had been how Josuke ended up in Sailor Jupiter’s outfit. Rohan was going to be cosplaying Sailor Mars, but Josuke wasn’t allowed to look at his cosplay until the convention day (which wasn’t really fair considering Rohan had seen his own, but whatever).
“Yeah, man. I’m sure,” Josuke finally replied, glancing over at the picture again. He looked… kind of hot, if he was being honest with himself. The convention would be in Tokyo, so it’s not like anyone from there would recognize him. He smiled to himself, looking back at Okuyasu, who now had a grin spread across his lips.
Okuyasu wrapped an arm around his shoulder, shaking his head. “You guys are too cute together, y’know?” He chuckled. “I’m sure it’ll be fine. Everyone’ll think ya look hot, dude.”
Josuke couldn’t help but laugh at that, finally putting his phone away. “I sure hope so. I’m kinda excited.”
