Chapter Text
One day Kori woke up on a saturday and heard yelling from downstairs, she quickly put on a hoodie and bolted downstairs. What she saw was a laughing Roy and a man wrestling,
“Fuck you, Roy.” the black hair man said
“You wish, Todd!” Roy said and pinned him down again, “C’mon say that you missed me”
“Never” and ‘Todd’ pushed Roy and got up from under him, “I haven’t seen you for a month and this is my ‘hello’?”
They both started to laugh then the shorter man noticed Kori and glared at Roy, “Did you start bringing your girls home?”
Roy looked confused then laughed when he saw Kori on the middle of the stairs, “No that’s our nanny, Kori this is Jason.”
Kori waved, “Hello” and went at the bottom of the stairs and shook Jason’s hand
“Oh, you’re Kori, she’s more beautfiul in person” Jason shrugged
Kori blushed, “Oh..”
Roy sighed and looked at Kori, “I’m going to take Lian out with Jason today, would you like to join?”
Kori nodded, “When will we be leaving?”
“In about an hour or two I still have to wake up Lian and get her ready” Roy repiled and looked at the clock, “Which I should do right now” He said, and went upstairs.
Kori and Jason looked awarkardly at each other before Kori spoke up,
“I should proabably get ready, It’ll be nice to get to know you” she smiled
Jason nodded, “Roy told me a lot about you alreadly.”
Kori blushed, “He only mentioned you a few times”
“Really? What a dick.” Jason looked almost offended, “We’ve been friends for about a year, I used to babysit Lian and I do random housework for them as well”
“If you don’t mind me asking, how old are you?” Kori asked
“Oh, I just turned twenty. I don’t mind at all” he said
“Do you go to school?”
Jason laughed “I didn’t even finish Highschool.”
“Oh, I’m sorry” Kori frowned
Jason shrugged, “I’m not worried about it and neither should you. I can handle myself.”
Kori nodded and smiled at him.
“Get ready I’ll go check on Roy to make sure Lian didn’t give him puppy dog eyes.” Jason smirked to himself then went upstairs.
Kori laughed lightly then also went upstairs and started to get ready.
In the car Lian was in her booster chair in the middle seat with Kori next to her who was behind the passenger seat, Jason was sitting shotgun with Roy driving.
“So how do you know each other?” Kori asked, looking in Jason’s direction.
“Roy found me about a year ago, I was down on my luck and he helped me by giving me jobs and being a friend I didn’t know I needed.” Jason answered.
“I think you’re getting soft on me Todd.” Roy snickered.
“Okay, says the dad.” Jason rolled his eyes.
“Children, calm down.” Kori sighed.
“No I like to watch them fight!” Lian pouted.
Jason laughed, “I can see nothing has changed,”
Roy shook his head, “They rarely do.” he lightly smiled into the rear view mirror to look at Kori.
He might’ve starred a little too long because Jason shouted, “Dude!”
Roy looked up and swerved, “Shit! Sorry! Baby girl you good? Princess?”
“I’m okay, daddy.” Lian said, Kori was holding her protectively.
“Be more careful, please. She’s still little.” The red hair woman sighed.
Roy looked confused, “You didn’t answer me, are you okay?”
“When…. did you ask me that?” Kori asked, even more confused.
“Just now, I asked Lian and you.”
“No, you just asked Lian.”
“I call Lian Baby girl but I called you princess.”
“What?” Jason asked, shocked.
“We’re here!” Roy called out as he pulled into the parking lot and Lian started to cheer.
Roy happened to take them to a park, luckily no one else was there but another family. Kori got Lian out of her seat and got out and helped Lian.
The little girl jumped up and down,”C’mon Kori! Let’s go!” She exclaimed and dragged her by the hand to the slide.
Roy watched and started to laugh lightly but then looked at Jason who was glaring at him.
“Not you too, Jade has been on my ass too.” Roy sighed.
“You called her princess, why did you call her that?” Jason asked.
“I… I don’t know, it suits her… It isn’t like that Jason, you know that.”
“Do I? I love you dude but she’s really young and you can’t do this to Jade anymore, even if you don’t love her.”
“What if I Love someone else?” Roy said and got out of the car.
Jason got out as well, abruptly, “Hell no. Don’t do this to Lian, the other hookups didn’t even know you had a wife, this, this is dangerous.”
Roy was digging into his trunk, “Calm down Jason, it isn’t like that!” he sighed, “She’s amazing but I do know what’s on the line, I do know what will happen if I do try anything. You can stop now.”
Jason nodded his head, “Good, now, let me help.” he smiled and helped Roy set up a blanket on the grass nearby the playground.
Lian ran to them a little bit later, “Hide me!” She screeched.
Jason quickly put Lian behind him while she kept giggling.
Kori walked over, “Hey, I’m looking for a little girl, black hair, pink shirt with a butterfly with jeans, white sneakers?”
“Nope, what about you Jason?” Roy asked and looked over.
“I never even seen a child in my life” Jason shrugged.
Lian started to giggle and laugh and fell over and yelped as she shot up on her feet again and started to run.
“Found you!” Kori yelled and started to run after her.
After running all around the park Lian jumped into Roy’s lap, “Daddy! Help!”
Roy gave Lian to Jason and got up, “You’re the one terrorizing my daughter!” He said very dramatically as Kori approached, almost out of breath.
“What are you going to do about it?” Kori smirked, challenging him.
Roy started to tickle her and Kori started to laugh and beg him to stop while Lian cheered her father on and Jason laughed watching.
Kori ended up tripping because she lost her footing from being tickled so much and fell with Roy falling right on top of her.
Kori looked up at him with a tint of red on her cheeks, “uh… Hi.”
Roy looked down into Kori’s green eyes, “Hey… Wow, I love your eyes…” he smiled and she smiled right back.
Jason pulled Roy up, “looks like daddy won, Lian!” He cheered.
Lian laughed, “Yay! Daddy come play with me?”
“Of course baby girl” Roy smiled and picked her up and took her to play.
Kori got up and lied on the blanket, “ow” she whined as Jason laughed.
“Should’ve seen it coming.” Jason commented.
“Should’ve but at least Lian had fun.” Kori shrugged, “Are you having fun?”
“Loads, I haven’t seen Roy in a while because I’ve been working different jobs.”
“What kind of jobs?”
“The kinds you don’t need to worry about.”
Kori sighed but nodded, “This is very different from my hometown but I’m starting to fall in love with it.”
“That’s good, is that the only thing?”
“I’m not a homewrecker, I’m not into him like that.”
“Okay, I believe you. I’m just making sure.”
“Roy told me he can’t afford a divorce even if he needed to. I don’t want to be the cause and I don’t want that kind of relationship with him.”
“Sorry I’m very protective of the people I care about, I didn’t mean to assume.”
“I get it, trust me. I just want to finish school.”
“Is that going good for you?”
“Yeah. I do online mostly but I do also go into classes sometimes and it’s really fun.” Kori smiled lightly.
Jason nodded and looked over at Roy pushing Lian on the swing, “Roy didn’t make a mistake hiring you, I know you love Lian.”
“I do, she’s an amazing child.” she said as she also looked with a soft smile.
By the end of the night Roy was holding Lian after he got out of the car, “I’ll tuck her into bed then I’ll take Jason home.”
Kori nodded and watched Roy go inside and hugged Jason, “It was nice to meet you. I hope to see you again soon.”
Jason smiled and hugged her back, “I do too, goodnight Kori.”
“You too.” she said then walked into the house and waved at Jade, “Good evening”
“Did you know he took the day off?” Jade asked.
Kori shook her head, “I thought it was his regular day off.”
“Whatever, It wasn’t. I’ll deal with him later… D-Did Lian have a good day?” Jade asked.
“The best, she couldn’t stop smiling!” Kori smiled lightly, “goodnight.” she said and went upstairs in her room.
After Kori’s shower she could hear the faint whisper yells from the master bedroom, she wanted to hear what they were talking about but decided to just go in her room and mind her business. As she lied in bed she wondered if she did feel like that for Roy, but quickly shut herself down. She couldn’t even date guys at school because she was too busy, she only liked him because he’s right here. Yes, that’s what she was going to tell herself.
