Chapter Text
"Argh, fuck-"
Kirishima chuckled as he watched Bakugou set things up in his kitchen. He had announced on Twitter, Instagram, and also YouTube that he would be doing a very important livestream. The most convenient time for everyone would be during the late morning for any who lived in Japan. Kirishima was one of the first on the stream, as usual, and so was one of the few who experienced seeing Bakugou stub his toe on his kitchen table's foot.
"Stop fucking laughing," growled Bakugou as he noticed the ones present posting a bunch of laughing emojis.
To be fair, Kirishima also sent one so he is guilty. He didn't know why Bakugou had wanted a lot of people to be present on this stream, but he guessed that maybe the fact that Bakugou had asked him to not miss it, not that he would, meant it really was important. He would be there for anything Bakugou needs support from, so maybe he was going to announce something important.
'I hope he doesn't publicly break up with me- ah, no. We are away from this topic, he likes me, I love him,' he smiled lightly, watching Bakugou push the table away with frustration. He then went to find his ingredients for whatever he was going to cook.
"Hello to everyone who is present now," he said, startling Kirishima. It had been silent and calm until he spoke loudly. "I will be announcing something important, so we'll wait until about a million people come up or something," he shrugged. "I'll just be prepping ingredients for what I was going to cook this afternoon. I'll save me some time, I guess," he said.
Kirishima shrugged. It makes sense.
He waited for a few responses, looking at the chat. "Uh, yeah. My uploads have been slow because I've been up in family stuff. I'll talk about that too during the announcement. And no, I am not baking a cake this time. I am planning another recipe book for you guys, and since the last one was a cake one, I thought about making this one a more salty or main dish recipe book. Actually, what I'm cooking is going to be in that book," he stated, looking into his fridge. He took out a few vegetables, then began slicing them on a cutting board he was reaching for when he stubbed his toe.
Kirishima reached for his keyboard, smiling brightly. 'Gotta have to learn to cook quick,' he wrote, posting it with a small sigh. He has been eating more than just instant ramen cups recently. He is now cooking steak correctly, and that is an improvements. He is getting better, and Bakugou does always remind him.
"Hm, almost at a million," said Bakugou with a small grin. "Only in fifteen minutes too," he chuckled. "And... we're at a million. Thank you everyone for joining, and don't fucking click out just now," he growled.
Kirishima adjusted his headphones, gave him a small text of encouragement, even though he has no idea what he'll say, then got comfortable in his chair, his eyes fixed on Bakugou checking his phone. He smiled lightly at Bakugou small amused huff, then continued smiling as Bakugou got to the point.
"My dad died."
His jaw dropped, his hand slapping over his mouth to cover a loud gasp. Kirishima didn't expect it, and he did not expect Bakugou to let out a small sad smile, then a quiet cough to cover it.
"He didn't really just die out of nowhere, like an accident or a heart attack," he said, stopping anyone from making assumptions. "He had breathing problems ever since he was a child, his lungs not automatically breathing and stuff like that. He went to the hospital a lot, and while his breathing got better when he went into high school and became an adult, he didn't really ever get cured, so it came back to haunt him," he shrugged. "And so, all recently, ever since I started making streams that had me more quiet and stuff, it was because he had to stay in the hospital for longer than a few weeks to have his breathing get stable. I was fucking frustrated," he sighed, pausing his movements of cutting vegetables.
He had a scowl on his face, and clearly he wasn't looking back at those time happily. It's hard to look at the past happily. Mostly everyone on the chat was silent, respectfully giving him the time to explain everything that has been going on his life that he's been keeping everyone away from. A few people were posting comments such as 'I hope you feel better,' or just crying emojis.
"I was so fucking mad that I couldn't just make him feel better physically," he sighed, clenching his fist. "When he began staying at the hospital, my mom and I have visited him whenever we could, and I still did as much as I could while my mom stopped. She became distant, she seemed to stop caring about him, and I was so fucking mad at the world. He slowly became distant as well, feeling like he lost the love of his life, and automatically... I was distant too. I didn't know what to do, and it was shittiest I've ever felt about it. So I did was I felt was right, and ask for help, I guess," he shrugged. "I was given advice, and then I need advice again. I got my dad to talk to his old friends again, and we all came back together slowly. Then he couldn't stay in the same hospital because they couldn't support him anymore, so they pleaded him to change hospitals. He refused though, and decided it was the end for him," he explained, sighing loudly, his eyes wrinkling to not let out tears. "It was his choice, and turns out he planned much more than just that. His funeral was soon after, and then I stayed with my mother. I haven't been as active since I was staying with family, and family friends, and then we had to do stuff so I couldn't really record videos. That's why I've been slightly inactive, and that's my reason and my explanation," he said, opening his eyes, showing everyone he wasn't going to cry. He had moved on, even if it still hurts.
Kirishima pouted, then smiled. He sent Bakugou an 'x' on the chat, hoping he'll guess what he meant. He would have wrote ':*' but he felt like an 'x' would be better. Less forward, more meaningful if the meaning has gotten through.
Bakugou's eyes widened slightly at all the comments, then smiled as he caught Kirishima's. "Red Riots," he called, to make sure no one misunderstands. He placed his finger on the chat he could see, then placed it on his lips, pushing them forward a bit, as if he was kissing Kirishima's kiss. 'Thanks,' he mouthed, with a small grin. "Well, that's the announcement," he shrugged. "If you have any questions, I'll answer them, I guess," he said. "I'll just be cooking so yeah," he chuckled.
Kirishima smiled, knowing he could relax. He sent Bakugou an 'ily' on text, then continued watching the stream, scrolling through his phone at the same time.
"'Do I have plans for the future?' Of course I do. I'm still young, and I want to have a stable job as a recipe writer. I want my books sold world wide, and I want to have a bigger product range than what I currently have. Unlike what you believe, I actually do YouTube to get more exposure," he snickered. "It as turned out to be more than that, but I'm still not making my career YouTube. That's too restricting, I believe," he said. "For all I know, YouTube will make swear words not allowed at all, and then I am out of business," he shrugged. "Get a job. YouTube shouldn't be it."
Kirishima couldn't help but smile that. YouTube had been his inspirations a lot. He knew it would help him reach parts of the world he can't as he is, but he is glad that he does have a real job.
A real job that he'll need to get to very soon. He checked his clock, then sighed. He'll just had whatever the vending machine offers him.
Sending Bakugou a text that he left the stream because of work, he quickly made his way to his front door. He grabbed his work bag, slipped his shoes on, not bothering with the laces, then he was off.
Bakugou : alright. have a good day at work
He smiled brightly, immediately replying, not even caring if he tripped down the stairs.
Kirishima : thanks! i hope your cooking goes well :D
Bakugou : of course it will
He got to work easily, since it was close, then greeted everyone at the reception. Well, it is only his two colleagues, but they aren't the most popular company around, so they don't really need anymore people around. Plus, if they hired someone else, they wouldn't have a living room at work so... they aren't in any rush.
"Hey, you weren't in this morning? I was beginning to think you told everyone you are supposed to be with today that you weren't going to be there," chuckled Fatgum.
"Ah, yeah, about that... No one could make it to the morning appointments, so I had the morning free," smiled Kirishima. "They all told me they had stuff to do, and since most of them actually know each other or something, they probably have family stuff to do," he shrugged. "I have higher expectations about their improvement next week though," he said.
Fatgum nodded with a grin. "That does sound reasonable. How many appointments do you have for this afternoon?" he asked.
"Uh... four I think. There's an appointment in between where she won't make it so five turned into four," he said. "I need to greet Amajiki, then I'll go get ready," he said, waving at his manager, then going inside Amajiki's office, interrupting the session he was having. The two stared up at him silently, until he broke the silence with a hesitant grin.
"Kirishima, I thought you weren't going to be in," sighed Amajiki. "How was your morning?" he asked as he typed a few things on his computer.
"Fine," he smiled. "Bakugou streamed so it was relaxing to see him," he chuckled. "Hey," he smiled, greeting the small girl in front of Amajiki, staring up at him with wide curious eyes.
"H-hello," she bowed lightly. "Are you Tamaki's friend?" she asked.
"Hum, he's just a co-worker-"
"Of course!" grinned Kirishima. "Has he been nice to you?" he asked, crouching in front of her.
"Y-yes!"
"He's nice to everyone," he nodded, confirming it. "I hope you have a fun time talking with him," he grinned. "See you during break, dude," he smiled. "I gotta go because I arrived a bit late," he chuckled.
"A bit?" asked Amajiki, shaking his head. "You go on, I know the woman you have first can get angry easily," he chuckled.
"Yep! I'll go on! I hope you have a nice day, miss," he grinned, patting the girl's head, then going to his office. He smiled when he heard Amajiki tell the girl he was just very 'talkative,' which isn't false. He does like to talk.
He entered his office, and crashed down on his chair immediately. He let out a big sigh of relief, then logged on to his desktop. He immediately went to files, and to something close to diary entries. He did do things professionally, but those 'diary' entries helped him put everything in a normal character development, which helps him continue on with his sessions and helping his customers with their need.
A knock caught his attention.
"Come in," he said, instinctively. He smiled brightly as he saw one of his most motivated customers. "Hello, how has your week been?" he asked.
"Hum... fine..." she murmured, sitting down on the cushioned chair in front of Kirishima's desk.
"Really?" he asked, with a small frown. He kept his smile though. "What happened?" he asked.
"Well uh... I got in a fight with my husband, and you know how those end up," she sighed. "I threw a book at his head, and he's in the hospital right now," she said, biting her lip. "I was trying to get better, but I guess I forgot all your advice and went back to violence," she sighed.
Kirishima stayed quiet for a while, typing on his computer. "Is that all?" he asked.
"He... he woke up from a two day sleep, and when I came to visit him, I apologised, like you told me I should do, and it feels right to do it. But... I thought he wouldn't forgive me, or be angry, but he forgave me with no hesitance. He even offered me a very sweet smile... I... I don't know how I should feel," she said, lost in her mind.
"Simple. You make it up to him," he smiled. "Sure, you apologized, but that won't always be enough. He might feel overwhelmed if you do make it up to him, but at least it will show you care," he said.
"I... What should I do, though? I really love him, and he doesn't deserve this domestic abuse I give him," she said, her voice cracking.
'Please don't cry,' he begged internally. "Something which means a lot to the both of you. It could be going to a festival, or going to a garden somewhere," he said. "Don't let your problems go in between your love with him. Make it stronger, and have him make your problems smaller," he smiled.
"Huh... he did propose to me in a garden... I- I might do that then," she smiled. "Now, I just hope he doesn't just accept it like that," she chuckled.
"He will be happy, and you won't feel as much as guilt as before. Trust me," he chuckled. "So, what caused the argument?" he asked.
The session went smoothly, and then it was time for another session to start. He had about ten minutes to prepare, and to organize the messy notes he took for the previous session. He quickly put up the 'diary' entries for the customer he was going to have, then smiled lightly at the last week's entry. She was doing better.
"Come on in!" he called when he heard a very faint knock. A shy girl poked the head inside, peeking at him curiously. He motioned her for her to sit on the chair in front of him, and with a small smile, she closed the door behind her, and sat down.
"You seem happy," she noted, fidgeting her fingers. She looked up at him, and her smile got bigger as she watched Kirishima's blinding grin.
"Of course! I have you today so of course I'm happy," he laughed. "How has your week been? School hasn't been too harsh?" he asked.
"N-No," she stammered. "I haven't receive a lot of homework, just math homework this week," she said.
"Ah... math. I hate math," he chuckled.
"I like it," she smiled. "It is relaxing when you know what to do," she said.
"I guess," he chuckled. "I cannot get my head around fractions, so I failed quite a big part of my exams when I had them," he said. "But anyway, this isn't about me. How have your classmates been treating you?" he asked.
"Better," she said. "I talked to my parents about it, since I had only told my siblings."
"Your sibling did sign you up for counselling," he chuckled lightly. "He is a very nice brother."
"Yes, he is," she nodded. "He was there when I told my mom and dad," she said. "My brother told them about the counselling sessions, and my parents told me they'll take matters into their own hands since I didn't have much power to do anything, and my siblings are very busy," she said. "I... I believe my parents are talking to the principal right now," she added.
"That's good," he nodded. "You need a break from all this fighting," he sighed. "I'm happy you got the courage to tell them."
The girl shuffled in her seat, smiling happily. "Me too!"
The session went nicely, and then eventually her big brother came to pick her up. He gave him the notes about the session, telling him that they'll have to contact the parents of whoever was bullying her so they could help bring some sense in their child's head. The brother nodded, giving Kirishima a big pat on the back as encouragement, then left with his little sister.
His third session of the day couldn't come, so he only had one until he could leave for the day. He wanted to relax in his couch and watch game shows in all honesty. The week has been long.
"Come in," he sighed, watching as a man entered his office. "Take a seat," he grinned tiredly.
"You look tired," chuckled the man, getting comfortable in his seat. "Has your day been long?" he asked.
"Nah, I'm alright," he chuckled. "I just got hit by a tiredness wave, it'll pass eventually," he smiled. "How was your week? What happened?" he asked.
"Things were... better, in a way I guess," he shrugged. "He still doesn't like talking to me, and he constantly goes to his friends' houses, but he's been eating dinner with me so I'm not complaining," he smiled. "I feel like it is an improvement," he said.
"It is," he grinned. "Did you get in an argument with him, or things were smooth?" he asked.
"We did argue on a morning of a school day. I was offering a ride to school, but he said he was embarrassed of being with me in public, so I had to let him take the bus again. He was a bit aggressive too," he sighed.
"Don't worry too much about that," chuckled Kirishima. "Children can be embarrassed of being brought to school by an adult, so I wouldn't take it so personally. He'll get over it, and would then want to have someone bring him to school. Maybe not soon, but eventually he'll warm him to you," he smiled.
"I suppose so..."
"What has he been saying about you taking counselling sessions?" he asked.
"He's been very silent about it. Whenever I leave the house to get here though, he does ask if I'm going to the counselling sessions. He doesn't have the usual glare he gives me when he asks, which I do find to be a bit better, but maybe it is just pity," he sighed. "I wished maybe he had a mother with him, maybe things would be easier," he stated.
"Things will get better with your son, I promise! Being a single dad must be hard, I can imagine, but you must understand that things don't get better if we don't do anything about them. Honestly, all we need is your son cooperating and everything would be better already," he chuckled. "Let's see what we can do then."
The man nodded with a small smile, and they went into details of what to do to help.
The day ended smoothly, and Kirishima got home with a fresh feeling. All his customers left happily, and he knows things will get better next week. He knows the best outcome would either be the woman or the little bullied girl, but he would love to meet that man's son so he can understand why he's so distant from his father from his point of view.
He sat down on his couch, turned on a random game show, and then checked his phone for texts. He chuckled as he saw a text from Bakugou for around an hour ago.
Bakugou : are you home right now?
Kirishima : now I am xDD
He smiled, then changed into more comfortable clothes. He wore more formal clothes to work, but at home he wanted comfort, so he changed in shorts and a t-shirt. He put on one of his horrible loose t-shirts, and his knee length shorts. Of course, he added crocs to the look.
He walked over to his kitchen, checking the time on the microwave. He sighed. 'Not time for dinner... nor is it time for a sweet snack,' he thought, looking through his cupboards. He found an opened pack of crisps, and decided it would be enough to fill his small hunger. He shoved a few in his mouth, checking over the many texts he hadn't answered yet.
He let out a small chuckle at the photos Mitsuki sent him. Bakugou was scowling in most of them, but in one photo he was laughing uncontrollably as Midoriya was trying to catch a deck of cards that he probably exploded while trying to shuffle it. He saved the picture, and all the ones of Bakugou scowling, and then wondered if he should change on of them to his background. He decided not to, already liking his current one with both him and Bakugou.
He then checked his friends' texts, smiling brightly as Ashido gave them a preview of her next video.
Mina : so... what do you think of this?
Mina : [inserted video]
Kaminari : bruh. that looks like high school you
Mina : cuz its my first tutorial remade
Sero : lol. i remember when you showed up to school with your horrible makeup, and everyone thought you really were an alien
Mina : thats cool tho, i was proud
Kaminari : it looks like crap tho
Mina : stfu
Kirishima : :D I'm proud of you Mina! It looks great!
Mina : thank you kiri. finally someone nice
Sero : you expected us to compliment you?
Ashido was taking long to type, so he just checked any other messages that he hasn't read yet. He wanted Bakugou to say something, or to say how his day went, but the man wasn't even online.
He took the bag of crisps with him, and laid down on his couch, putting his feet up on the cushions. He laid there for a while, staring at the ceiling with his thoughts lazily flowing through his mind, until he decided to continue watching television. The game shows were actually fun to watch. He likes trying to answer the questions to see if he'll get it right. When he does, he always gets very happy, even if it a bit of a stupid reason to get happy.
He spent most of his time looking through Twitter, looking at art, at joke tweets, and eventually at replies. He had a lot he hadn't read because he had taken a small break from that app. He posted an unnecessary tweet, just to let people know he's back from any hiatus they believed he was taking.
'game shows always test my knowledge xD i get surprised sometimes :D' he had written. "I wonder if many people relate?" he wondered to himself. Shrugging, he went through some of the lovely tweets he's been mentioned in.
'@RedRiots! I know you guys haven't been public for long, but I wanted to show my support!' Under the tweet were two pictures, both seeming to be like in a comic. He identified himself with the red gelled hair, and then Bakugou with the puffy blond hair. They were cuddling, and in the second image, 'Kirishima' was kissing 'Bakugou's' cheek which made 'Bakugou's' ears explode smoke, probably a blush. He liked it, and retweeted it, smiling fondly at the picture. He knows that this picture definitely has happened.
'@RedRiots @ExplosionMurder_Cooks i dont know, but this reminded me of you two.' The picture below was a long haired cat hissing at a large dog next to it smiling down at the cat. It did kinda seem like them. Bakugou would cuddle up to him, and while he's denying that he's giving affection, Kirishima would just smile through it all, just happy with being able to hold him.He liked it, retweeted it, and adding a bit. 'i can see it!' he had added.
He went through more tweets, liking all the support he could look through, until his eye caught what time it currently was. 'Food time,' he declared, standing up to go to his kitchen, taking the empty crisps bag to throw away.
He was going to reach for a ramen cup when he got startled by the sound of his doorbell ringing. He closed the cupboard and fridge, then went over to his door. He opened it without checking who was waiting, gasping as he was surprised by a sudden weight pushing him backwards a few steps.
Tight arms hugged his neck, and a hard bag crashed against his back. He brought a hand up to the head on his shoulder, his fingers finding the familiar texture of a certain someone's puffy blond hair. He smiled widely, and wrapped his arms around the the man's back, kicking the door closed as he laughed lightly. He buried his face in the mass of hair on his shoulder, letting his laugh get felt by Bakugou through his chest.
He moved his head slightly, pressing a small kiss on Bakugou's skull. "I missed you," he said, his voice so quiet, yet so soothing.
In response, Bakugou tightened his hold on him, gripping at Kirishima's waist with shaking fingers.
'So cute,' he thought, moving them backwards a bit, away from the entrance. He watched as Bakugou took his shoes off without moving from the hug.
"Hey," he huffed out, leaning away from Kirishima, but not quite breaking their tight hug yet.
"Hey, hey," chuckled Kirishima. "How are you?" he asked, directing them to the dining table, sitting down on one of the chairs, while Bakugou sat another. They sat close though, their arms never really leaving the other's side.
"Happy," he stated, hiding his smile by turning the other way to set his bag down on the floor.
"That's good to hear," nodded Kirishima. "I'm happy you are happy," he said. "So, what's up?" he asked, rubbing his thumb over the back of Bakugou's hand.
"Nothing much now," he shrugged. "I've finished all my family business, that's why I could finally visit you today," he explained. "Sorry to keep you waiting," he whispered.
"It's alright," he said, smiling fondly. "I would have waited an eternity for you," he chuckled.
"Shut up," growled Bakugou, jokingly. "We were setting up small home shrines for dad, so we set one up in my mom's house, and then one in my house. We were also dealing with the stuff our dad left behind, so everything is back to place. His memory is everywhere, but now we just feel it as a presence instead of a haunting," he shrugged. He picked up the bag he had set on the floor, setting it on the table.
"I'm glad you figured things out," smiled Kirishima. "Makes things easier now, doesn't it?" he asked.
Bakugou nodded, and they held each other in a comfortable silence.
Kirishima was glad that Bakugou could do things with a smile now. He was worried that he would drown in sorrow, unable to smile again, but as he had said... he wasn't going to stay sad forever. Now that Bakugou had set up a home shrine for Masaru in his house, he kinda wanted to visit to talk to Masaru a bit, even if he wouldn't be able to answer.
He squeezed Bakugou's hand, and instead of squeezing back, Bakugou grinned brightly. It took him by surprise, and he raised an eyebrow, questioning it slightly.
"Look what I got," he said, his voice cracking in excitement. He pulled out a book from his bag, making Kirishima remember the gift he got him, and placed it in Kirishima's hand. His legs were shaking in anticipation while Kirishima looked over it.
"Was it a gift from your mom?" he asked, his eyes not focusing, just looking at the cover's color scheme.
"Nope. Look at the author."
And so Kirishima did. He checked, and didn't react for a few seconds, until he exclaimed in shock. "Bakugou Masaru!" he almost shouted, letting go of Bakugou's hand to cover his mouth, surprised by his own volume.
"Exactly!" he grinned, his legs calming down. "My mom gave it to me when we finished setting up all the shrines, and I couldn't wait any longer to see you. I really wanted to show it you."
"I... oh wow," he breathed out, looking at the back cover. "Fiction as a journal?" he read, chuckling.
"Yeah. All of it is true, except the cheesy metaphors and personification," he said. "The stories all start from when he was kid, when he kept a diary," he added. "It's all in first person, so we get to be him in the story."
"That's so cool!" he laughed, looking over the pages inside. There were small illustrations that represented important moments in his life, like his birth, meeting Mitsuki, getting married, meeting Bakugou, getting into the hospital, as well as all of their favorite stories of his adventures illustrated. It was a beautiful book. "It's amazing... when did he even have the time to write it?" he asked.
"When he was in the hospital, I think? Mom said he always wrote, apparently, and when he saw his death coming closer, he just wrote and wrote until the editors thought it was perfect, which it is," he said, proudly. "After writing everything, they contacted an illustrator, who was one of his friends in high school, and they made the drawing together. Dad drew out how the scene would be with stick figures, and the illustrator drew it properly," he smiled.
"It's absolutely amazing!" he exclaimed, looking at the cover again. His smile widened as he finally focused on the cover image. It was unmistakably Masaru, grinning with his eyes full of tears. "The name is 'I Ain't Scared of Living'?" he asked, reading the title properly.
"Yeah."
"He really wasn't scared of living," nodded Kirishima. "Especially if he had breathing problems during all that hiking, yet he never gave up on it."
Bakugou nodded. "He lived to his fullest, and I'm so fucking proud that he's my dad," he grinned.
"Is it going to be sold in bookstores?" he asked. "I seriously want a copy," he said, his voice jumping lightly in a laugh.
"Of course it fucking is," shrugged Bakugou. "I'm lucky to be the first person to own a copy to themselves," he said. "It'll be out in the bookstore next week, and I'm planning on selling copies in my own online shop. You'll find it everywhere, hopefully," he said.
"I'll buy it as soon as I find it," he nodded, smiling.
"Good," he nodded. "While a percent of it will go to the cost of making the copies, the rest of it will be going for an environmental preservation charity, because most of his stories come from nature," he said, catching Kirishima's hand in his own again. "I guess he wasn't scared of dying either," he sighed.
"No, but he'll always be alive with us with this," grinned Kirishima, placing the book on the table, then looking into his boyfriend's eyes. "He's always going to be with you, to support you, to guide you, to stop you, to calm you," he smiled. "He's still there for you, don't forget that," he said.
Bakugou shuffled in his seat, then shook his head. "I won't," he confirmed, then turned to the big bag. "I got another surprise for you," he said, opening it. He took out one big plastic bowl with the lid on, and when Kirishima looked inside it, he gasped.
"Dude, no way!"
"Don't call me that, but yes," he said. "You wanted to eat some, so I made you some," he shrugged, dragging Kirishima up, and walking them to the kitchen, taking out a big ceramic bowl. He put the meal he prepared for Kirishima in it, and then placed it in the microwave. It isn't going to be the best meal, especially since they microwaved it after cooking it properly, but they'll still enjoy it. It doesn't matter what you eat, because it'll always taste better when you eat it with someone you like.
Kirishima took out two plates, placing them on the dining table. He put knives and forks to eat it like it is supposed to be eaten, and then filled up two big glasses with water.
When the food was hot, and placed in the plates, they began eating. It was dinner time, and both of them were hungry, so the meal was finished pretty quickly. That didn't mean that Kirishima didn't savor it though. It tasted like he managed it would. Pasta, grilled vegetables, a cream sauce, he tasted all of it, but there was something he couldn't quite get. It burned his tongue softly, yet added to the perfect flavor. It was delicious, even if he didn't really get the burn. He understood it when he finished gulped down his glass of water.
"Was there chili in it?" he asked, raising a curious eyebrow.
"There was spice in it," he nodded. "I added a few things to make it have more flavor than the one my mom cooked. I personally think I did it better than her," he grinned, smugly.
"I wouldn't know, but this tasted delicious. I can't thank you enough," he sighed, patting his full stomach. "I was seriously going to eat instant ramen for dinner before you showed up," he chuckled.
"Good thing you didn't have time to then," he said. "I worked hard on it, you know?" he sighed. "Fucking practiced every live stream," he added. "Your dumbass didn't even realize," he snickered.
"Hey! I was busy focusing on your voice," he chuckled.
"What about when I wasn't speaking?" he asked.
"I was looking at the chat..."
"Guess I need to be more interesting next time," he shrugged.
Kirishima chuckled, then jumped out of his seat. "I got something for you too, actually!" he exclaimed, running to his room, grabbing one wrapped gift, then running back to his chair, scooting closer to his boyfriend. He placed the gift in Bakugou's hands, waiting impatiently for his reaction.
He ripped the wrapping paper away, placing it on the table carefully, then stared at the gift in his hand, the book Kirishima had bought him. He didn't say anything, neither did his face move any muscle. He just stared at the book, then checked the back cover.
"Hum... do you like it?" he asked, becoming more nervous the more quiet Bakugou stayed. "I really liked that book... so I kinda wanted to share it with you? If you don't like it, that's fine, you know-"
He stared with an opened mouth as Bakugou stood up quickly, knocking his chair back with the force of his knees. In reflex, Kirishima stood up too, his chair not moving as he bumped the back of his knees against it. He watched Bakugou place the book calmly on the table, then tried to catch Bakugou's gaze, hoping he could read a bit of what was going on in his mind. He couldn't even see if Bakugou's eyes were open, his bangs covering them. His eyes widened when Bakugou looked up at him, the softest smile he's ever seen on his lips, and the happiest gaze he's ever seen in Bakugou's eyes.
"Actually..." he breathed out. "It's my favorite book in that genre," he murmured, smiling back.
Without answering, Bakugou stepped closer, then grabbed Kirishima's forearms. He pulled them towards him, catching him off guard. He crashed into Bakugou, wrapping his arms around him in reflex, then chuckling as he saw Bakugou bury his face in his chest.
The hug was much nicer than the one they had seeing each other again, surprisingly, but Kirishima could feel Bakugou's extreme happiness rub off on him. He embraced it, welcoming all of Bakugou's emotions.
He smiled down at him when he leaned back slightly, and wondered what was going on inside his mind. It was cute. Way too cute, but Kirishima couldn't look away to calm his jumping heart. Bakugou stood a bit straight, adjusting his grip on Kirishima, wrapping his arms around his neck, and pulling him down slightly. Kirishima gave him a questioning gaze, but it fell blank as he noticed how close Bakugou's eyes were. They always seemed to be such a dark crimson color, but now they seemed so bright. They shone in the light, and showed such a soft red, yet a bright red. It was full of life, so full of emotion that Kirishima could get lost in them as if they were an endless sea of moving life. He couldn't look away, he couldn't.
He especially couldn't when those eyes softened, and closed. Without waiting a second, the closed eyes got closer, and Kirishima could feel a very soft and light pressure on his lips. He closed his eyes sharply, relaxing as he fell into the pleasure of being so close to Bakugou. He pressed his lips against Bakugou's, and couldn't help the upward turn of the corner of his own lips. They smiled, making Bakugou smile too. They broke away after a few seconds, to get their breath back, and their minds back.
Lost in the pleasure, Kirishima kissed him again, a few short times, pecking them, then pulled away to bury his face in Bakugou's hair. He felt a laugh bubble its way up his throat, and when he let it out, Bakugou joined him. Calming their laughter, Kirishima pressed small kisses all over Bakugou's cheeks, forehead, and nose, silently expressing all the feelings he couldn't express until now.
He had wanted to kiss him for so long, but he never got the nerve to actually do it. He wanted nothing but to hold and kiss him for the rest of his life now.
Tickling Bakugou's nose with a light kiss from his lips, he broke into chuckles. "I..." he began, his smile still present, his eyes searching around. "I... I lo-" He laughed when Kirishima kissed his nose again, purposely tickling him. "Stop," he chuckled.
"I love you," declared Kirishima, pulling back, and gazing right into Bakugou's eyes. "I love you," he repeating.
Bakugou wrapping his hand around each of Kirishima's, then nodded, blinking away any tear of happiness that was begging to be let out. "I love you too," he said. He said it so seriously, not allowing Kirishima to mistake it for anything that isn't a fact. "I fucking love you too," he said, more aggressively.
"I love you too," he added, kissing Bakugou's lips once more, then hugging him tightly. "I love you so much," he sighed, happily melting in their embrace.
They exchanged 'I love you's and hugs for the rest of the night, maybe crying once or twice in their euphoria.
They've been through so much, yet they would never allow it to get in between their love for each other. Their hearts belonged with each other, and no one could ever say they were wrong in their feelings, because now they shared them, and now doubt was away.
And all of this happened just because Kirishima wanted to help Bakugou. Kirishima would have never known he needed Bakugou to be the happiest man on earth. He really loves helping people after all.
