Chapter Text
It was two years later when Taehyung found himself being carefully placed on the bed of their shared hut, the omega fuming in annoyance.
“Okay, okay, Tae. Chill. We got this.”
Taehyung wanted to smack his mate, hopefully the force would knock some sense into him. The slight smell of burnt petals was making his nose scrunch up.
“Guk.” Taehyung deadpanned, glaring daggers at the alpha who was combing through his black hair with his fingers anxiously.
“Yeah, babe? Do you need water? Do you want me to go and steal Yoongi’s pillow? It’s always been comfier than what we use-”
“Guk.”
Jeongguk’s eyes widened, reminding Taehyung of large saucers. If Taehyung wasn’t so annoyed, he would have found his mate adorable. “Oh gosh. Shit. I’m speaking too loud right? Don’t we need to sing lullabies and whisper and stuff?” The alpha dropped the volume of his voice to a hushed whisper, his frantic actions becoming nearly comical.
Taehyung closed his eyes, taking in a deep breath, praying for patience.
It was all Hoseok’s fault, really.
That bastard had to stare at Taehyung’s flat stomach more intensely than normal, throwing Jeongguk into panic mode after the two of them had realised what Hoseok was staring at.
“I’m barely two weeks in, Guk.”
Jeongguk nodded his head determinedly, “right, right. Eight months and two weeks to go, I’m counting, don’t worry, I gotchu babe.” Jeongguk was sounding pumped up, bouncing on his heels as if he were preparing for a boxing match.
Taehyung shook his head in disbelief, letting out a sigh. Jeongguk stumbled at the sound, arriving right next to the omega within a second. He brought a hand up, gently caressing Taehyung’s cheek. “Does it hurt?”
Taehyung finally smiled, getting over his annoyance because of how concerned his mate was. “I don’t think you’re even giving me a chance to hurt. You literally carried me all the way from the beach.”
Jeongguk smiled, his white bunny-teeth appearing. His smile was so bright, Taehyung could do nothing but grin in response. Jeongguk enveloped him into a big hug, careful of the omega’s stomach, making Taehyung playfully roll his eyes.
“I’m so happy, hyungie.”
“Me too, Gukkie,” Taehyung responded, nuzzling his nose into Jeongguk’s neck.
Jeongguk sat back up, nervously tapping his foot onto the ground. “I’ll tell Yoongi, a-and we can go to Seoul tomorrow to get everything we need for the pup.”
Taehyung looked at his mate in disbelief once again, taking hold of Jeongguk’s hands, thumbs rubbing soothing circles into Jeongguk’s sun-kissed skin. “Gukkie, baby. Darling. My true mate. The most handsomest alpha there ever is,” Taehyung began, smiling as he saw the blush on Jeongguk’s face, the alpha ducking his head down shyly. “We have all the time in the world okay? No need to spring into action the very next day when you don’t even know what we might need.”
Jeongguk nodded hesitantly, lifting his gaze back up to the elder. “I don’t know if I’m ready, Tae.”
Taehyung gave him a fond smile, squeezing the alpha’s hands, “well, you have eight months and two weeks to prepare yourself, right?” he asked cheekily. Jeongguk nodded, his shoulders relaxing slightly as he calmed down. Taehyung made space on the bed, patting the mattress as he wanted Jeongguk to come lay next to him.
The alpha laid down, placing a gentle hand over Taehyung’s stomach, caressing it lightly, tracing a finger over the smooth skin. “Eight months and two weeks,” Jeongguk mumbled before letting out a tired sigh, wrapping his arm around Taehyung’s body, the elder chuckling a few minutes later as he heard the quiet snores by his ear.
**
It was seven months later as Taehyung had drifted off into sleep, but woke up as he heard the quiet murmurs of his mate. He kept his eyes closed, not wanting to disrupt whatever Jeongguk was up to.
“Can you hear me, babies?” He heard Jeongguk gently ask the omega’s stomach, the alpha’s head laying on Taehyung’s thighs, his hand on top of the bump on Taehyung’s tummy. His heart clenched, hearing the quiet and careful voice of his mate.
“Well, it’s one of your daddies speaking,”Jeongguk continued quietly. “Tae Tae’s asleep, so I have to talk quietly, I hope that’s okay with the two of you.”
Taehyung tried to hide the hint of a smile on his face, listening to the black-haired alpha’s words.
“The two of you haven’t been easy on him now have you? I think the three of us will be repaying him for the rest of our lives.” Jeongguk was quiet for a few moments, his hand firmly placed on Taehyung’s stomach as he felt a small kick. “I know it’s probably uncomfortable in there with such little space, but you two need to stop kicking so much for Tae Tae’s sake, or you won’t hear the end of it for years from me.”
It was dark enough that Taehyung hoped Jeongguk wouldn’t be able to see him biting down on his lower lip. The alpha cared so much for him and the pain he was going through. It felt like a miracle as the kicking had subsided, he could sense the smile gracing Jeongguk’s handsome features.
“Thank you, babies,” the alpha murmured. “I can’t promise to always be the best parent there is, I'm sure I’ll make a lot of mistakes on the way, but I’ll try my best okay? And if I make mistakes, papa will always be there to fix them. I’m sure the two of you will like him more anyway.”
Taehyung wanted to chuckle. Jeongguk had no idea how special he was.
“And that’s okay. You two need to shower him with love after what he’s gone through.” There was a small pause before the younger spoke up again. “I need to go sleep now so that I can wake up at the same time as him. You two behave, okay?”
Taehyung felt his bottom lip quiver as Jeongguk placed a feather-light kiss on his stomach, sitting up from his position and gently laying down next to Taehyung, a warm hand instantly placed around the omega’s chest. Taehyung felt another kiss being placed, the alpha’s soft lips caressing his temple.
“Love you, Tae Tae.”
**
It was a year and a half later when Taehyung sobbed out, waking up to two voices crying due to the heat and not being able to fall asleep. Their pain was his pain, and adding in the exhaustion from all of the sleepless nights, Taehyung felt like he was drowning in sorrow. Jeongguk sighed next to him, letting out a tired groan as he sat up on their double bed. Jeongguk stood up, walking over to the bamboo crib and crouching down. Taehyung heard his mate speak in hushed whispers, trying his best to calm the little pups down. The hut was dark, Taehyung guessing it was around two in the morning by the time they had been woken up.
“Give me one,” Taehyung whispered, scooting up so he was sitting on the bed. He gave a tired smile as Jeongguk handed their male pup over, rocking Hyejin in his own arms.
“It’s okay, Jiwon baby. No need to cry, okay?” Jiwon didn’t stop crying, his brown eyes shut closed as his small face was contorted in frustration from the heat, black hair spread all around his face, strands of it plastered to his forehead. Taehyung felt like his heart was breaking any time one of the twins would cry, quiet tears escaping from his own eyes. “I know, I know baby. I don’t like the heat either.” Taehyung crooned, trying his best to comfort the child in his arms. Jeongguk placed Hyejin back into the crib, sitting down next to Taehyung as he rubbed soothingly into the elder’s back, wiping away a tear from his cheek with his other hand.
“Let me,” Jeongguk said gently, taking the young pup into his arms as he started whispering into his ear. Slowly, the crying faded down, Taehyung watching in awe at how Jeongguk always managed to calm the male pup down so well. Jeongguk stood up, placing the young pup next to his sister in the crib, watching them for a moment before turning around, laying down and pulling Taehyung with him.
Jeongguk nuzzled his face into Taehyung’s neck, scenting him to calm the elder down. “You’re doing so well, Tae Tae.” Jeongguk murmured, placing tired kisses onto Taehyung’s lips, the elder happily reciprocating the touches.
“All you, Gukkie,” Taehyung responded, feeling the raven-haired alpha’s smile against his lips. He felt Jeongguk's finger gently caress the long scar on Taehyung's stomach, something he did most nights before they fell asleep.
“Both of us, babe.”
**
It was three years after that when Taehyung squeaked, hearing the familiar voice by the door, the pup confused by the compromising position he and Jeongguk were in.
“D-Daddy? Papa?” Hyejin’s quiet voice asked from the door.
Taehyung looked up at his daughter, face flushed red as he scrambled to make sure he and his mate were fully covered.
“Hey, sweetheart,” Taehyung said, coughing as his throat was hoarse as his mouth had been previously in use. “W-What are you doing here, baby? Where’s Jimin?”
Hyejin looked down guiltily, swaying one foot in the air, “I ran away from Jimin-oppa.”
On cue, the scent of lilac and lemon wafted through the air.
“Hyejin! What have I told you about- Oh GOD-” Jimin yelled as he slapped a hand to his eyes as he walked into the hut, seeing the flustered state of the pair inside. “What the hell- there's kids here- guys-”
Jeongguk scoffed, smoothing out the sweaty hair from his face, pulling the quilt a bit higher as he willed the redness away from his face. “ You were supposed to take care of them, Jimin. We were supposed to have alone time and you can’t even keep an eye on our pups.”
“Yeah yeah yeah” Jimin mumbled, grabbing hold of Hyejin’s small hand as he started dragging her away from the hut, complaining something about needing to buy locks under his breath.
Taehyung giggled as the others had left, burying his face into Jeongguk’s bare chest from pure mortification. Jeongguk let out a breathy chuckle, scratching at Taehyung’s scalp, “guess that ruined the mood?”
Taehyung hummed, giving the younger a mischievous grin as he started inching his hand down the alpha’s toned chest, Jeongguk cocking a questioning brow in return. Taehyung bit his lip as Jeongguk snaked a hand around his waist, pulling the omega closer. The alpha dipped his head down, kissing his lips while bringing his other hand to caress Taehyung’s cheek before moving it to his silver hair, giving it small tugs that made the elder moan out from the sensation.
Jeongguk’s hold on him tightened, fingers digging into Taehyung’s skin as the omega started hungrily grinding down onto Jeongguk’s thigh, making the younger smirk. “Eager, babe?”
They froze as they heard giggling outside their hut again, a few seconds later small footsteps stumbling inside, burning lilac not far behind.
“PARK JIMIN.”
**
Three years later, Taehyung was on his daily visit to see the mermaid by the sea. “Hoseok,” Taehyung said sternly, daring to move further in to the ocean, towards the being who was watching him uninterestedly.
“Absolutely not. Stop it, Taehyung.”
Taehyung pursed his lips, taking hold of the mermaid’s shimmering hand, deciding that he would need to try another method rather than intimidation. He fluttered his long lashes, mouth forming into a pout that always worked on Jeongguk. “What rank will they be, Hobi?”
“I’m not telling you, Tae Tae. You and Jeongguk are somehow going to make it into a competition, and I’m not having your poor pups dragged into it.”
Taehyung scoffed at him in disbelief. “You think I’m that bad of a parent.”
Hoseok raised a brow in amusement, “no, I know you’re a great parent. But the two of you are annoyingly competitive and I won’t have anything tarnish the experience for the twins.”
“You know what ranks they’ll present though, right?”
Hoseok rolled his eyes, as if it were the most obvious thing, chipping away at one of his long nails. “Of course.”
Taehyung grumbled, “sometimes I wish I wouldn’t have taught you to speak so fluently.”
Hoseok dipped underwater, filling his cheeks with water that he spurted out onto the omega for old times sake, causing Taehyung to gasp out in shock. “I swear I’ll drag you on to the sand, let’s see how bratty you’ll be then.”
“Jokes on you,” Hoseok responded, “are your muscles even able to pull me anymore?”
Taehyung narrowed his eyes at the mermaid who was trying his best to hide his smile. It wasn’t Taehyung’s fault that he aged like a normal person, while Hoseok became older thrice as slow. “I’m not even old-”
Hoseok narrowed his eyes, staring intensely at Taehyung’s hair. “Is that a grey strand I see?”
Taehyung’s eyes widened in horror, quickly bringing his hands up to his hair.
The mermaid burst into laughter, a shocked yell leaving his mouth a few seconds later as Taehyung tackled him underwater.
“Uhh, Tae?” A voice asked hesitantly from behind him.
Taehyung turned around innocently, as if he hadn’t been threatening to cut off the mermaid’s tail a mere second ago. His face split into a grin as he saw Jeongguk walking towards him, Hyejin and Jiwon tugging at both of his hands to walk faster. Taehyung pouted as the twins didn’t even look at him, not when Hoseok was there. The mermaid swam closer as the pups started treading into the water, greeting the two of them warmly.
Jeongguk walked past the three, splashing Taehyung with water instead. The omega let out a huff, his eyes squeezed shut as he blindly tried to reach out for his mate. A warm hand pulled him closer, placing Taehyung firmly against Jeongguk’s toned chest.
“Hoseok’s saying I’m becoming old,” Taehyung grumbled, an airy chuckle coming from Jeongguk in response.
“I’ll help you cut off his tail, babe.”
Taehyung grinned, having threatened the mermaid with exactly the same thing.
“Papa!” Jiwon exclaimed, trying to move deeper into the water before Jeongguk stopped him. Taehyung swam closer to the shore to the twins and Hoseok, letting the young pup climb on to his shoulders. “My little koala,” Taehyung murmured fondly as Jiwon started playing with the omega’s hair, pulling the strands into ridiculous directions, causing Jeongguk and Hyejin to burst into laughter. Taehyung smiled at the identical smiles, Hyejin's teeth reminding him of a young bunny as they poked past her mouth.
“Papa looks so silly!” Hyejin giggled.
“Oh yeah?” Jeongguk said in his omega’s defence, Taehyung grinning as he saw the playful glint in Jeongguk’s eyes. The alpha swooped down, lifting the young girl into the air before catching her again. Hyejin squealed as she was in the air, firm hands catching her not a second after. Jeongguk let her down, splashing her with water before ruffling her dark hair, Taehyung and Jiwon’s turn to start laughing.
“Now the two of you can be silly together.” Jeongguk grinned, watching the young pup pout, an expression she had clearly learned from Taehyung. He smiled
“Hoseok oppa,” Hyejin complained, walking into the mermaid’s waiting arms, away from her teasing parents and brother.
**
“Where’s Yunnie?” Taehyung questioned, stealing a slice of fruit from the dish Seokjin was preparing. The elder omega glared at him, hand hovering protectively over the decorative food.
“Running around with that Yeonjun kid.” Seokjin grumbled.
Taehyung snorted in response. “She’s fourteen, let her talk to a boy if she wants to, hyung.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Seokjin responded, a small frown marring his face. Taehyung walked around the counter, wrapping the omega into a tight hug.
“Your wrinkles are showing, Jinnie,” Taehyung whispered.
“And still I’m the most handsome wolf here, how does that feel?” Seokjin responded, ignoring the younger’s teasing. Taehyung giggled, burying his head into the elder omega’s shoulder blades.
“Tae?”
Taehyung grinned as he turned around to an expectant Jeongguk. His features were still as sharp as what they were when Taehyung had first met the young alpha at the age of twenty. The alpha’s hair had changed though, not staying as the wild mane flowing across this forehead, a more tamed version nowadays where it quiffed to the side, exposing his forehead, his strong dark brows still prominent on his face. Taehyung hummed, still leaning his head on Seokjin’s back.
“Hunting? Jimin and Yoongi hyung are taking care of the twins.”
Taehyung’s face formed into his box-shaped grin as he nodded his head, unlatching himself from the elder omega and walking into Jeongguk’s warm embrace. They walked out of the main building hand in hand, the alpha shifting first without warning. Taehyung followed quickly, feeling his silver paws hit the grass beneath him.
Jeongguk walked next to him, licking the omega’s face as he always did before they headed off. They trotted to the edge of the jungle, Jeongguk giving him one final lick before breaking into a run.
Taehyung was fast now. He was stronger now. Of course, it was physically impossible for him to fully catch up to the alpha, but he was by far the fastest omega in their pack. The alpha had spent years teaching him how to take full advantage of his smaller size, all the ways he could position his paws to increase his speed. Taehyung trailed a few meters behind his mate, trying to focus on the scent’s around him instead of the ever-intoxicating elderflower.
Jeongguk let out a light howl, Taehyung grinning in response as the alpha must have spotted the prey. The alpha slowed down, allowing Taehyung to take the lead, the omega sprinting past him at a fast speed, eyes trained on the jaguar in the distance. He wasn’t scared of hunting anymore, especially since Jeongguk was with him every step of the way.
He felt the adrenaline thrumming through his veins as he pounced, latching his jaw into the mammal’s neck.
**
It was just a day later when Taehyung was sitting by the beach, waiting for Hoseok to arrive as he heard shuffling of bushes from behind, a teary-eyed Seoyun breaking through the shrubs a moment later. Taehyung felt panic bubble within, he hadn’t seen the girl cry since she was young and had scraped her knee.
“Taehyungie-oppa,” she said as she approached him quickly, voice cracking.
Taehyung opened his arms wide, the teenager crashing into his lap a second later. Taehyung brought a hand up, soothingly petting the girl’s brown hair. “What’s wrong, sweetheart?”
Seoyun looked up, her long lashes wet from the tears that threatened to fall. Taehyung gave her an encouraging smile, watching the girl’s features. He knew she would grow into a beautiful girl, having Namjoon and Seokjin as parents, it was inevitable.
“He kissed me,” Seoyun stated, burying her face into Taehyung’s chest, her peppermint scent filled with anxiety.
Taehyung smiled in understanding, his heartbeat slowing down as he understood she wasn’t in any sort of harm. “And is that a bad thing, honey?”
“He smells different to me.”
Taehyung’s hand froze, an array of emotions and memories flooding through him. Memories from when he was younger, fighting against the feelings he had towards Jeongguk. Taehyung willed himself not to cry, but he couldn’t stop the stray tear that fell down his cheek, knowing that Seoyun had found something so rare, her true mate. He was taken back to the time when he was on the boat to Seoul, speaking with Namjoon.
“You take all the time you need to figure it out, okay?” He said, using the same words that had calmed him down all those years ago. He felt Seoyun nod against his chest, her scent calming down.
“Maybe I’ll just go to Seoul, escape it all,” She murmured into Taehyung’s shirt, hands tightly wrapped around his waist.
“You listen to me, Yunnie,” Taehyung said sternly, not wanting the girl to go through the same emotional turmoil that he had gone through when he was younger. Seoyun lifted her head, staring at Taehyung with wide-eyes, not having expected the strict tone he had been using.
“I don’t want you to realise it too late, Seoyun.”
“Realise what, oppa?” She asked wearily, not used to Taehyung calling her by her full name.
“That someday, you’ll meet someone who shakes you down to the very core. The way they speak, the way they act, everything they do will change your whole perspective of the world. They’ll start doing things, or saying things, and it just looks so mesmerising coming from them that you can’t stop replicating the words or actions yourself. You'll fall under their spell, and that’s okay. You'll see them try their best to control their instincts with whatever rank they are, and they might make mistakes on the way, but the two of you will learn together.”
Taehyung wiped the tear that fell from Seoyun’s cheek, placing a light kiss on her forehead before continuing to speak, his chocked voice articulating the best he can.
“And like you said, it’s so scary, right? And you’re going to want to run, run far away, escape whatever you’re feeling. But don’t you dare. Don’t you dare do that, Seoyun. Even if every nerve in your system goes haywire because of their scent, you pull them close and you keep them there. Even if their smile burns so freaking bright that you want to look away because it shakes you to the very bone, you keep looking at them, because that special smile is directed right at you. They'll make you feel vulnerable, open, and losing control of yourself will probably nearly scare you to death. But they’ll hold your hand. They'll stick with you through it all. And for as long as you physically can, you should love them, because trust me, otherwise you will regret it.”
Seoyun watched him with a pained expression, realising that Taehyung was speaking to both her and himself. “Okay, oppa. I won’t run away from him.”
Taehyung nodded, not being able to speak anymore. He pulled the girl close, the two of them cuddling on the beach quietly, both of them in their own thoughts.
Seoyun eventually left with a kiss on the cheek, Taehyung still waiting patiently for the mermaid to arrive, a small smile gracing his features as he saw the familiar red hair approach him from the distance.
Taehyung waddled into the water, sitting down so that it reached his chest as Hoseok circled him in greeting. Hoseok ended up sitting in Taehyung’s lap, the mermaid still void of understanding personal space.
“Two alpha’s. They’ll make quite a couple.”
Taehyung frowned, “What? How do you know all of this, Hobi? It’s getting quite creepy.”
Hoseok hummed, “it’s knowledge only granted upon the leader of the mermen.”
Taehyung stared blankly at the beautiful red-head, his brain slowly processing the mermaid’s words. “Y-You’re the leader of mermaids?” Taehyung whispered, “and you spend your days with a dumb wolf like me?”
Hoseok nodded, as if in full agreement. “Yes, my life is quite bland indeed.”
“Were you ever planning on telling me?”
Hoseok shrugged, giving Taehyung a small grin, wrapping his arm around Taehyung’s nape. “Doesn’t really make a difference, does it? You’ll still be a brat towards me.”
Taehyung chuckled, squeezing his hands tighter around the mermaid’s shimmering torso, feeling the comfortable warmth radiating through the water as Hoseok’s body stayed close.
**
Seoyun had just turned eighteen when Taehyung was watching, teary-eyed, as the young wolf became a head alpha of their pack. The young girl had grown into a strong woman, capable of taking care of the pack, letting the older head alpha’s step down. Namjoon and Seokjin were with her, initiating her, as Taehyung was standing with Jeongguk, Jimin and Yoongi close by, all watching the beautiful moment occur. Seoyun grabbed for Yeonjun’s hand, pulling him next to her, the latter already one of their new head alpha’s.
Namjoon and Seokjin were stepping down from their duties, planning on moving to Seoul just like Namjoon’s parents had.
Taehyung rested his head on Jeongguk’s shoulder, their twins sitting by their feet, watching Seoyun proudly, quietly bickering if they might become alpha’s when they present.
The ceremony was beautiful, the whole pack cheering for her, everyone in full agreement that she is perfect for the position. Jimin walked past the raven-haired alpha, taking hold of Taehyung’s hand and giving him a gentle smile. Yoongi wrapped his arm around Jeongguk’s shoulder, pulling the younger alpha into his chest as Jeongguk was also tearing up.
After Seoyun had fully been initiated as head alpha, Taehyung and Jeongguk walked back to their hut hand in hand, leaving their twins to train with Yoongi.
“Babe?” Jeongguk asked, his voice a bit deeper, like it usually was when he spoke to Taehyung.
“Hmm?” Taehyung hummed, looking over at his alpha mate. Jeongguk was still handsome, no matter if he was already hitting his thirties, he still kept his youthful features, eyes filled with stars every time he looked at his omega mate.
“Should we think about Seoul too?”
Taehyung stayed quiet, thoughtful, thinking about the youngers question. “Maybe yeah.”
“It’s up to you. As long as I’m with you, hyung, I'm happy, no matter where we go.”
**
Taehyung and Jeongguk found themselves in front of their Seoul apartment five years later. Both of them were buzzing with excitement, Taehyung especially as the apartment would have air conditioning, the male saying goodbye to the heated nights. Jeongguk twisted the silver key in the lock, the click making Taehyung bounce on his heels.
The apartment was small, comfy, close to where Namjoon and Seokjin lived. They couldn’t afford to get a bigger place in the city, not really wanting to either. The place was already furnished, a polite beta lady as their landlord had handed them their keys as they had arrived to the port of Seoul just the previous morning. Jimin, Yoongi and the twins had brought them over, both sides promising to visit each week, Jimin and Yoongi promising to keep an eye on the twins even though the alpha and omega had already presented and nearly reaching eighteen.
They walked in, dragging their luggage that they threw onto the ground as they looked around the cozy apartment, a smile on both of their faces as Taehyung closed the door behind them.
He let out a squeak as Jeongguk pushed him against the wooden door behind him, a pair of lips hungrily at his throat.
“Gukkie,” Taehyung breathed out, hands automatically wrapping around Jeongguk’s nape.
“No more of anyone walking in,” Jeongguk growled, lifting Taehyung up from his thighs, stumbling as his foot got caught in one of the handles on the cotton bags on the floor. Cursing into Taehyung’s mouth, he walked forward, pushing the door open into their bedroom, throwing the omega onto the bed, red eyes piercing into Taehyung’s blue ones.
“Welcome home, baby,” Jeongguk murmured as he straddled the omega beneath him, leaning down to kiss him.
**
Taehyung woke up from his nap as he heard fumbling and muffled curses outside their front door a year later. Jeongguk barged in, panting, Taehyung watching him with an amused expression from their red couch as the alpha stormed in with a red face, pulling the small Pomeranian behind him.
“Last time,” huff “I’m taking him out.” Jeongguk breathed out.
Taehyung couldn’t help but laugh. “You’re the one who got Tannie for me, baby.”
“And I regret it every day,” Jeongguk huffed, crouching down to take the leash off the barking dog. The alpha walked over to Taehyung, falling on top of the omega’s lap, Taehyung instantly starting to brush the sweaty dark locks from his mate’s forehead. “I promised ages ago I’d get you something special. Who knew it would be so difficult to take care of a small dog.”
Taehyung gave a fond smile as Yeontan jumped on top of Jeongguk’s stomach, the alpha starting to pet through the thick fur. No matter how much the younger might complain about their dog, he still secretly showered him with affection.
**
It was moments like these that Taehyung loved the most. They had just come back from visiting the island for the weekend, both of them tiredly laying on the couch from their travels. Jeongguk was lazily threading through Taehyung’s hair, Yeontan nestled on the omega’s stomach as they watched whatever was on the colour tv.
Taehyung craned his head up, watching the alpha with a smile on his face. Jeongguk started having faint lines by the corners of his mouth, a few shallow creases marring his forehead. “Just as handsome as the first day we met.”
Jeongguk looked down in surprise, mouth forming into a smile as he looked at his omega. His eyes were still youthful, no matter how much his face would age. “You’re one to talk.”
Taehyung grinned, turning back and pushing his cheek deeper into the younger’s chest.
Happiness.
Jeongguk. His pups. His pack. Jimin. That’s what happiness truly was. The flame he felt inside when his mate smiled at him. How he felt his heart burst when Jiwon and Hyejin spoke their first words. The security he had around him for his whole life, because of the pack that had stood by his side. His wingless angel best friend, both of them being each other’s anchor, each other’s support.
“You’re going to have twins?”
The words were stuck on an endless loop in his head, one which brought him ever-lasting happiness, remembering his mate’s face when the news was broken to him. He knew he would have the moment forever ingrained in his brain, the unfiltered happiness that Jeongguk had shown as Hoseok had spoken the words.
Taehyung stayed laying down on his mate’s chest, just letting the happiness soak right into his bones. He brought his hand down, fiddling with the red string bracelet he had on his wrist, knowing Jeongguk still had the blue one tied around his own hand.
All these years. And he wished for an infinite amount more, if he had Jeongguk by his side through it all.
Jimin was right. It had been quite an adventure indeed.
