Chapter Text
Hajime remembered the day he decided he’d propose to Samon one day. They were a month or two into their romantic relationship and Samon, as usual had initiated a random conversation brought forth by the imagination Hajime came to love.
“Hey Hajime,” he had started. Hajime remembered clearly that they were chilling on the couch, Samon’s head on his lap, watching tv. Samon only started a conversation because it was a commercial, he knew Hajime hated to talk unless it was a commercial.
“Hm?” Hajime had answered, unaware of the life changing question
“What do you think about marriage?”
Hajime had been completely puzzled by the question. At that time, they hadn’t been dating long, so surely Samon wasn’t hinting at a proposal. And looking back he knew Samon had seen his confusion
“Its just, when I was born, my mom took me to Japan. For five years I lived with only my mom. And once my grandpa took me back to China I lived without my mom.” Samon had paused to sigh, “needless to say I’m not entirely sure how a marriage works.” He looked up at him with adorable eyes, “I was wondering what you thought about it.”
It took Hajime a while to answer, in fact the only thing he said to him that day was that it was unimportant, just a contract on paper. But he remembered that later that very night he knew that a marriage to Samon would mean the world.
And here he was now, ring in pocket, nervous for the proposal he had planned for months. He already had Samon’s family’s blessings, now he needed Samon’s.
The date was the day they first met, memorable because they fought immediately after meeting. Despite how it sounded Hajime remembers it fondly, later in their relationship Samon admitted it was because he was terrible at flirting and Hajime had to agree.
“What’s wrong?” Samon asked bringing him back to the present. He gingerly placed his hand on his. Hajime smiled; most didn’t know when Hajime’s mind was occupied. Samon was an exception.
“Nothing, just happy.” Samon smiled his adorable smile that Hajime grew to love more and more and they enjoyed their dinner.
Then the surprise.
Rock came, per Hajime’s request, to give them their dessert, confusing and distracting Samon because of both Rock and the fact that Hajime wanted something sweet. He turned to Hajime questioning look replaced with shock.
There Hajime was, on one knee, beautiful wedding band in tow. Samon’s hands flew to his face in surprise and tears welled up.
“Samon, you have made me the happiest man on this planet, and I can’t picture life without you. You’re my best friend, my cat’s father, and my favorite person. Samon, love, will you marry me?” No words could leave Samon’s mouth, all he could do was nod and wrap his arms around Hajime. The restaurant applauded, but they didn’t care. They were in a world of their own.
It was the happiest day of their lives.
