The Traveller
Year 20XX, March 28.
Wednesday.
In my short time of arriving in Aaa, I've met with two royal beings. The prince of the candy kingdom, prince Gumball, and the prince of the newly established fire kingdom, flame prince. Both are equally kind, equally generous, and...
Equally handsome...
From my short time here, I've compared the two with my princesses back home. Here's what I was able to find so far:
Prince Gumball loves to bake, he's very intelligent but he prefers doing other such things. He's been seen knitting, crocheting, sewing, painting, and other cute things. He's calm and kind, rarely seems to lose his temper, a worrywart, and has the nicest violet eyes I've ever seen in all my years of dimension-hopping. Gumball is well-loved by his people, rules with a kind hand, and unlike princess bubblegum, he speaks Italian rather than German. But just like princess bubblegum, the prince tends to use the language when he's excited about a certain topic.
The other day he found out a new way of making fondant without a heavy taste and repeated "non ci posso credere" over and over again under his breath before passing out.
As for Flame Prince...
Flame prince loves his pride with all of his heart and is willing to die for them as they are to die for him. He rules the fire kingdom with a gentle yet stern fiery fist and makes sure all of his kittens and fire lions are accounted for. If one goes missing, he'll search day and night for them.
With his newly acquired ability to understand and speak proper English, to which I'm hoping wasn't a mistake according to the laws of dimension travel, he's been able to go around and communicate with others. A while back he was explaining to me about how he needed to use the restroom and thought that you needed to borrow a book at the library to do that.
So far, he seems to be adjusting quite well, especially at the royal meetings with all of the princes and kings.
My conclusion:
The princes are nothing like their female counterparts, except for one thing. They were both as good looking as Bubblegum and Flame princess.
Now that I write this I'm starting to see that I've only associated myself with the two, if this is anything like my home back in Ooo, then it's just as vast with just as many princes and kings. If that means what I think it means, I should start packing my bag and leave the safety of the candy kingdom, prince Gumball wouldn't mind I'm sure.
Ah, but I'll have to let them know...
End of Travel Log.
[Y/n] [L/n].
Age: 18.
Guest bedroom at Prince Gumball's Candy Kingdom.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
He was accustomed to this, grabbing what few items he had and placing them into his bottomless backpack, which he'd gotten on his 13th birthday by Finn, who punched an evil monkey wizard for being a donk and took it from him as a reward.
It was both the strangest and greatest gift he's ever gotten aside from his watch from uncle P.
Glancing around the room, [y/n] heaved a sigh. He was going to miss it; it was his temporary home since arrival, and everyone has been kind to him without an ounce of hesitation.
He was going to miss it; it was his temporary home since arrival, and everyone has been kind to him without an ounce of hesitation. So far, it's the longest he's stayed in the candy kingdom, his record is 2 months. But when the urge to travel became too much for him to bear, he had to gather his things and get ready to leave. Prince Gumball was already informed of his departure, and it seemed as though he was a tad bit disappointed, however, the prince aided in packing small meals for the young traveler to enjoy in his journey to find a permanent residence and granted him a lifetime room should he ever stop by the candy kingdom to visit.
It made [y/n]'s heart swell up with joy, knowing that he was welcomed back as though he weren't a stranger.
A bitter taste filled the corner of his mouth, as the very back of his mind tried to remind him of the current events happening in his old home of Ooo. He didn't want to think about it. With a shake of his head, the young traveler grabbed his backpack and placed it over his shoulder, inhaling a deep breath through his nose and making his way towards the door.
Today, he wanted to try traveling past the fire kingdom, in hopes of mapping out the place and pinpointing the differences and similarities between Ooo and Aaa, narrowing down on a plot of land in the middle of everything, and allowing him to be within the proper distance to all of the kingdoms he hopes to be knighted in. It was a strange plan, but he did hope to be knighted in as many as he could, if there was one person he aspired to be like, it was Finn. That one teen went from a boy adventuring for treasure, to a knight of all knights, not belonging to a single kingdom, and always arriving at the rescue on time.
Walking to his door, he gave the doorknob a swift twist and proceeded to take one foot out the doorway. It wasn't until he got a face full of another person's chest that he realized someone was there with their arm up, at the ready to knock. With the sweet scent of bubblegum filling his nostrils, [y/n] glanced up to meet with bright, heliotrope colored eyes gazing down at him in wonder.
"Oh, I see that you're awake!" Prince Gumball exclaimed with a bright smile upon his face. Ever since [y/n] arrived at his castle, the prince has become more lively than normal, oftentimes losing his composure. "Well, I was just going to invite you to a cup of tea in my garden. You know, before you go off on your wondrous adventure."
As much as the young traveler's mind screamed at him to get going, he agreed to the prince's invitation. "I'd love to, breakfast with you my prince is always a delight."
"Wonderful! I'll be sure to bring my famous cream-puffs!" Gumball exclaimed, clapping his as his eyes practically shined with excitement. As he turned to walk off, rambling about how he created the recipe for his famous cream-puffs, [y/n] followed behind with a giggle.
He really will miss the prince once he goes off on his adventure.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
There was something breathtaking about Aaa, the lush green forest and sweet singing winds brought a strong sense of nostalgia to all those who were there to witness it.
It made [y/n] want to tear up, especially after leaving Ooo behind. He doesn't know if he regretted leaving or not, but it was about time for him to find his home, yes Ooo was everything to him and he'll always treasure it within the deepest corners of his heart...
It just...
It didn't feel right being there, he felt like a puzzle piece being forced into a place that could easily be replaced by a piece that did belong there. But maybe it was him being sad again, he tended to do that and whenever Jake or Finn saw him being sad, they'd smack his forehead and tell him the same thing over and over again.
"Do you know how wanted you are? You're like, really really wanted. You're very wanted, more wanted than the most wanted guy in Ooo. So shut up because we love you man, have a bacon pancake, and play some Bemo."
Thinking back to that, it made [y/n] let out a soft giggle. He'll miss those days, but it didn't mean he could never return. Turning, the young teen began to make his way deeper into the forest, on his way to greet the flame prince before he went on his way. Breakfast with prince Gumball had been beautiful, the tales he'd tell, the silly songs about baking a cotton candy banana sky pie, and even his gastronomy knowledge.
He never knew it was possible to make a cotton candy banana sky pie, and yet the man did it.
"Hopefully I can try some again soon," he muttered to himself, walking deeper into the woods. "And while I'm eating it, maybe I can send a picture of it to Finn and Jake!"
Rustle!
[Y/n] wasn't deaf, he had known for a while that he had been followed.
But that still didn’t stop him from continuing on his way. He had been humming and talking to himself as though he didn’t know, but he was sharp enough to catch on. It had started not too long ago, the light footsteps trying to match his own, the shadowy figure that ran to hide from tree to tree, and the soft hums and sighs that followed his own.
[Y/n] wasn’t that worried, if they wanted to harm him, they would’ve.
It could’ve been a little water sprite, a bug, or any animal living in the forest that liked either the sound of his voice or the song he would hum.
“I can’t wait until I can start marking my map,” he spoke. “I can explore it all, and finally decide on where to settle down for the rest of my days.”
That was the end game at least, settling down and just enjoying the rest of time on his own. He’d love to get married and maybe start a family, but with his condition it’d be hard to, especially knowing that one day he’d outlive his family. The very thought of that was terrifying. The more he thought on it, the sadder he felt, causing him to stop midway and simply stare down at his feet.
Will he ever meet someone?
He had been in love before but knew it would go nowhere, not when the one he loved seemed to have others in mind.
“Finn is just that kind of guy…” [Y/n] whispered, lifting his hands and glancing at them hopelessly. “He prefers princesses, smart and sweet like Bubblegum, feisty like Flame princess, heck I wouldn’t be surprised if he felt something for Marcy at one point too…”
‘There I go again…’ he thought bitterly, his frown deepening. ‘Every time I think like this, I just feel more and more like a gooey mud slug…’
With a sigh, [y/n] fell to his knees, trying to stop himself from feeling even worse. This was something he tried to hide from the others once, trying to play out as though things were happy and he was fine. But it didn’t feel fine, it felt sad. The world felt dark, nothing was worth doing and all he wanted to do, was just sleep. He just wanted to sleep and think and be alone for a while.
He didn’t know how long a while was for, but he knew it was a pretty long time.
The one time Finn had found him like that, he wanted to be swallowed by the ground. He didn’t want anyone to know, he didn’t need them to. Although Finn seemed to think this was someone’s fault, a bully, or even the ice king, Jake knew better.
A quick trip to P.B and they knew what was wrong, even if it took P.Bubbles a while to explain it to everyone, including himself.
She just called it, [y/n]’s sad times.
It was a lot of support from friends, and a few ‘special gummies’ to help him get back on his feet. It was a lot of work, but it was something he had been so proud of to get rid of.
But everyone he knew was gone, and he was alone. Those special gummies were also gone, he hadn't brought any with him. He didn’t think he’d need them anymore. Just when he thought he would just lay there and maybe take a long nap, who knows, a hand was placed on his shoulder.
“Are you okay?”
The soft voice caught him off guard, causing him to turn his head and meet with the bright green eyes. Fear filled [y/n]’s body, causing him to let out a gasp and push himself away from this person. Gasping themselves, the other person fell on their butt and began to crawl away, feeling rather scared that they might be hurt. They just wanted to help.
[Y/n] had to take a moment to calm himself down, not expecting to meet someone but knowing that they had been the one that followed him deeper and deeper into the woods. Once his heart stopped racing, and he knew he wasn’t in any immediate danger, the young teen turned to the other and tried to smile.
“H-Hello… S-Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you,” he began gently, getting up slowly and dusting himself off. “Um, my name’s [y/n]… A-Are you okay?” They nodded, fixing her bangs out of her eyes but still sitting on the ground, guard fully up. “Um… W-What’s your name?”
They stay silent for a moment, as though thinking about whether or not they should respond, before nodding. “I’m… Flora…”
As much as [y/n] knew this wasn’t Fern, it still didn’t stop his body from having that flight or fight feeling.
Let’s just say he and Fern weren’t on the best of terms when he left…
“D-Do you need help?” [Y/n] reached out and offered his hand, at the ready to be rejected but surprised when Flora took it. Helping her up, they stood facing one another, both unsure of where to look or what to say. He knew things in Aaa were different from Ooo, but that still didn’t stop him from believing that Flora might end up like Fern…
But if he could stop it, he would and he’ll be sure to befriend her.
Opening his mouth to speak, he was surprised once more when she cleared her throat and turned to look him straight in the eyes. From that look alone, he knew that she was trying very hard to speak to him, to have a normal conversation with someone.
“I-I saw you earlier, and I wanted to know if…” She cut herself off, her right hand holding onto her left arm in a form of comfort. “I wanted to know if you were okay… You looked… As sad as I feel sometimes…”
“Eh?” If he wasn’t immortal, he knew he’d have died from the number of times he was caught off guard and surprised. He should stop it and just calm down. It was just a lot of emotions in one go for him, he wasn’t used to it.
“Um, you know what? I-I’m sorry, I’m probably just bothering you, so I-I’ll just go-” she began, getting ready to turn and run back into the woods and never be seen again, until [y/n] reached out and grabbed ahold of her arm.
“It’s okay… I’m just not used to… Being here…” Flora turned to face him once more, looking at him as though she sort of understood but wanted a little more information. Feeling a little calmer, [y/n] sent her a gentle smile, letting go of her arm and extending his hand to her for a shake.
“I’m not from around here but…” He began, a small blush growing on his cheeks. “I’d like it if we were friends…”
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
“I just don’t get it Cake, why has everyone met this ‘other human’ but I haven’t even seen him?” Fiona whined, pacing back and forth in her living room, swishing her sword gently from side to side. “I never get the chance to meet this ‘other human’ and Gumball hasn’t shut up about it.”
“Maybe he made it up sugar, we never know,” Cake responded, stirring a bowl of pancake mix for her sausage waffles. “He’s an eccentric one, that Gumball.” That last part she grumbled, feeling rather annoyed at the thought of the prince. Fiona had been proclaiming her love to him as of late but it seemed to fly over his head, it was taking everything in Cake’s being not to smack the pink right off of his body to make him understand.
He was hurting her baby girl and she hated not being able to do something about it.
“Well, Gumball hasn’t lied to us… We both know he can’t lie.” Fiona really wanted to meet this [y/n] fellow, he was not only the only other human in Aaa, but apparently he was from some alternate dimension, a hero, and someone who was just knighted by Flame Prince. And to make it worse, he’s the reason why Flame Prince can talk to people now! “He sounds a little… Too perfect, you know?”
“Oh sweetpea, no one’s that perfect,” Cake hummed, pouring her batter into her waffle iron, making sure it was even before adding the sausages. “Gumball’s probably just exaggerating it. And that Flame head is surprised by anything.”
Lifting her sword, Fiona gazed into her reflection on the blade. Gumball had been nothing but smile and praises these past two weeks, talking about nothing but this new traveler. He had even stopped sending Fiona on silly, mundane quests just to stay back at his castle with this ‘[y/n]’ character. She didn’t want to feel bitter about it, but she couldn’t help it when everyone seemed to suddenly think this traveler was the grand hero when he just arrived and she’s been there forever!
“Maybe he’s better than me…” Fiona muttered, slicing her sword through the air. Not realizing that BMO had walked into the room, she let out a gasp in surprise when she had accidentally sliced BMO’s flower. “Oh no, BMO I’m sorry!”
It took the little game a while to realize what had happened, but when the flower fell to the floor in that split second, BMO let out a high pitch screech. “What have you done!” BMO screeched, tears flowing from his eyes. “You’re a monster! Waaa!”
“BMO wait!” But he didn’t and he ran right out the door. Fiona didn’t mean to do it, she knew that BMO was very sensitive and his love of flowers was intense. She wasn’t really thinking about where she was swinging or how sharp her blade had been. Fiona fell to her knees and groaned, nothing seemed to be going right, and nothing has been going right since that stupid traveler arrived.
“What’s wrong babycakes?” Cake asked, walking up to kneel down next to Fiona. “You’ve been acting strange.”
“It’s just-” Fiona cut herself off to take in a deep breath. She didn’t really like to talk about her feelings, but she knew Cake wouldn’t let her live it down if she didn’t say anything. “I feel like everyone is talking about this traveler kid, and no one seems to really care about what we’ve done…”
Cake hummed in understanding, furrowing her eyebrows for a second before smiling.
“No need to be jealous sweetpea, you’re still my little hero.” Cake turned and started to give the blond teen sloppy love kisses on her cheek.
Fiona’s cheeks grew a bright red, as she gently pushed her away trying to stop the embarrassing scene. “Caaake, I’m too old for your kiss therapy.” Even though she puffed out her cheeks in annoyance, she let out soft giggles, feeling a little better.
“Oh sweetpea, you just need to remember that it doesn’t really matter how everyone sees you,” Cake encouraged, purring as she rubbed her cheek against Fiona’s. “All that matters is how you see yourself, who cares if Gumball is all about this kid, he’ll get over it.”
“Yeah,” Fiona mumbled lowly, before raising her head, beaming with more confidence. “Yeah! Who cares if Gumball is talking about this kid! I’m a hero too! And who knows, I’m probably better at adventuring than him!”
“Who is Gumball talking about?”
The sudden appearance of Marshall caused Cake and Fiona to let out a scream in fright, moving away from the Vampire King. He had appeared out of thin air, doing that stupid vanishing and appearing thing he did when he knew he was banned from doing that in their house.
“Marshall!” Fiona screamed, crossing her arms over her chest, as a hissing Cake hid behind her. She really hated Vampires, and as cool as Marshall was, he was still a jerk for doing that when he knew Cake hated it.
Marshall Lee would normally laugh at their reactions, float around and make a joke about how they looked horrified. But he couldn’t, not when all he could think about was their conversation.
“Again, who was Gumball talking about?” He asked, not really caring but also caring in a way. He didn’t care about what Gumball did, but he did care about who Gumball decided to let into his kingdom.
As smart as he was, he was a bad judge of character.
Fiona calmed herself down, waiting a second for Cake to unfluff her fur before turning to the Vampire with a deep frown in disapproval. “Just a traveler that apparently came to explore two weeks ago.” She explained, standing up and dusting herself off. “Why are you here anyway, you know you’re not allowed to just come in all invisible and then uninvisable yourself in front of us.”
Marshall laid back in the air and stretched his arms, letting out a yawn before tucking them under his head as a makeshift pillow. He just didn’t seem to care where he was, he liked to act like he owned the place.
“I was bored, PG didn’t want to hang out with me, so I came to bother you guys,” he admitted, frowning a little while turning his head to meet the two. “But then I hear your conversation about this new kid that Gumball is obsessed with and talking to and I dunno.”
“So you were eavesdropping?!” Cake hissed, her hair sticking on ends.
Marshall Lee knew that Cake hated rudeness and dirt, and he had broken both rules. They hadn’t noticed it at first but they will eventually, he had accidentally tracked some mud into the living room roof when he had entered through a window. Knowing he wouldn’t be able to service a Cat attack, Marshall turned himself invisible again.
“I didn’t mean to, just a little something something I heard on my way in!” He tried to explain himself, trying to fly out of their range. However he miscalculated, and he had forgotten that Cake had very sharp ears and nose. With a soft ‘hi-ya’ and a flick of her arm, she stretched and was able to slap him across the face.
“Ow! My cheek meat again!” He hissed, turning himself visible and cradling his cheek within his hands. His cheeks were sensitive, why was everyone hurting his poor cheeks? Within seconds, Cake has her arm stretched out and wrapped around his body, squeezing him tightly and pulling him down to the floor, where he landed with a soft ‘thud!’
Cake slowly walked up to him, a disappointed frown on her face, like that of a mother who caught her child with his hand in the cookie jar.
“Marshall Lee you are in so much trouble,” she scolded, teeth bared and at the ready to punish him with a lecture. “And don’t think I didn’t see that mud track on my ceiling.”
“Uh, Fiona?” Marshall called out, looking around for her only to see her walk away towards the stairs to their bedroom. “Hey, Fiona? A little help here?”
She stopped in her tracks and glanced back, thinking about it rather hard. On the one hand, Marshall didn’t really do anything too bad, but on the other hand, he had heard and seen something embarrassing and she was still mad at him for teasing her a while back, and almost telling Gumball how she felt about him.
With a bright smile, she waved and turned to continue on her way upstairs. She was in need of a nice bath, and a good nap to clear her mind off of things.
“Fiona? H-Hey, wait!” Marshall called out, kicking his legs a little as Cake cleared her and took in a deep breath. “You can’t just leave me here- FIONAAAA!”
