Chapter Text

A FEW MONTHS LATER

“Hannah just called me!"

Magnus was standing in the bathroom and doing his hair, as Alec put his head through the door slit. A warm smile lay on Alec’s lips as he watched his boyfriend getting ready for the day. He would leave the house in a few minutes to go to school. Alec was still not allowed to travel with Isabelle again to protect people - but he was working again. From home. He took the calls and made the appointments for his sister. Although it was not the activity Alec was eager to do, he was involved in the business again. And he had missed it more than he could have ever imagined. His mother confided some things to him again and he could work independently in front of his computer.

And how much he had missed the feeling of being independent.

“And? What did she say?" Magnus leaned over the sink to apply his eyeliner. He could see Alec in the mirror behind him. How he was leaning against the door frame with a cheeky grin on his lips.

“The date is set. This Saturday, 3 PM.” Alec"s voice sounded slightly nervous.

“Are you nervous?" Magnus finished his line and turned to his boyfriend who was nervously playing with the doorknob. “Is Alec Lightwood nervous?”

“This is a big deal, babe.”

“And I will be with you.” Magnus smiled warmly at Alec who raised his eyes and looked at him. One could see that he fell in love with Magnus every time he looked at him. Magnus took a step towards Alec before he reached out his hand to Alec’s cheek and let his fingers ran gently over the soft skin, which was marked by a brief stubble.

“You need to shave again,” Magnus softly exclaimed before kissing him. Although he had to say that the tickle of Alec"s fine beard was more pleasant than he first assumed. Magnus gently separated from Alec and tilted his head. Alec smiled brightly at him.

“Or maybe not,” whispered Magnus as he stole another kiss from Alec’s soft lips. Alec immediately closed his eyes and leaned into the touch. He still couldn’t put into words what he felt when he was with Magnus. How his whole body filled itself when the front door opened and Magnus returned from work. Every time they were in their bed together and Magnus snuggled up to Alec. Alec was just happy. So incredibly happy with him.

“You"re gonna be late for work,”  Alec replied teasingly before kissing him again.

“Then you"ll have to tell your kids again that I distracted you - even though that"s not even the case.” Alec laughed softly before Magnus rolled his eyes and passed him.

“The kids always believe me anyway, no matter what I say. They just love me.” Magnus went into the kitchen and reached for his thermo mug, which was already filled with coffee.

“Should I be jealous?" Alec had followed him silently into the kitchen and stood behind him while Magnus packed his bag. A soft laugh crept gently over the teacher"s lips before he turned to Alec and pulled him into yet another kiss.

“We both know you own my heart,” Magnus replied softly against Alec’s lips. “See you this afternoon, angel.” He kissed him goodbye and released himself from the embrace as Alec had unconsciously put his arms around him.

“Don"t forget your umbrella!" Alec called after him when Magnus had already left the apartment and was about to close the door behind him. He stepped back into the apartment to reach for the umbrella before he finally left the house.

It was October already and autumn was spreading over New York slowly but surely. It became stormier, colder and it rained almost every other day. Even though Alec was in good condition by now and could leave the house more often to go shopping or just walk through Central Park with Magnus, he preferred his own four walls during the stormy days. Even if it wasn"t even his own four walls.

He still lived with Magnus at his parents and sister’s. They both felt more than comfortable in Alec"s apartment, but Alec had been thinking about moving out with Magnus for quite some time. Still the same neighborhood, close to his family, yet having their real home would be a nice feeling. For weeks he had been surfing the web and searching for the perfect penthouse, of course with enough space for guests and... well, future children.

Alec grabbed his coffee cup and filled it with his red-eye before he went into his room and began to work. In addition, he took his vitamins while he was going through the countless emails and orders from managers who wanted their people to be protected.

Alec sighed softly before sipping his coffee and answering the first emails. He remembered his last therapy sessions. Noah had already told him that he could return to work soon. Only a few more months and he could finally be on the road together with Isabelle, that"s what Noah had promised him. And Alec had worked his ass off to get there.

Time went by faster than expected and suddenly there was a knock at Alec"s door. The bodyguard spun around in his chair as he called out, “Come in!".

Maryse opened the door a few seconds later with a grin on her lips.

“Breakfast break?" She smiled warmly at Alec, who nodded at her and closed his laptop. He followed his mother into the kitchen, noticing that she had already set the table. He smiled at her before he sat down on one of the chairs.

“Any news on your tattoo?" Maryse served her son a croissant. Alec took it with a smile and nodded at her.

“Saturday is the day. Magnus is coming with me.” There was a smile on Alec"s lips whenever he said Magnus’ name out loud. “I"m nervous, but I"m also eagerly looking forward to finally putting this behind us.”

“I"m immensely proud of you, son. And I"m so glad you have Magnus. He’s incredibly good for you.” Alec looked up from his plate and smiled at his mother. She seemed happy. She had her hair open and let it fall over her shoulder. Alec hadn"t felt this comfortable around his mother for a long time. She had finally accepted him and supported him wherever she could. Robert and Isabelle were at work while she was in the house most of the time, still being there for Alec.

“Mom?" Alec raised his voice softly before clearing his throat. “Would you be okay with me moving out with Magnus? Not far from here, but… into our own penthouse?” Alec knew he didn"t have to ask his mother for permission. He was old enough to decide for himself. But he still wanted her encouragement.

Maryse"s lips pulled up gently before she closed her eyes and nodded. “Since you want to hear this from me, I think you’re ready, Alec. I will always support you.” Maryse reached for Alec"s hand, which was on the tabletop. Gently, she stroked the back of his hand to show her support.

“Have you spoken to Magnus about any specific penthouse?"

“No… not yet,” Alec smiled warmly. “I picked one that would fit. I was thinking of going there with him on Saturday after the tattoo appointment. As a surprise.” Alec looked over to his mother. “I don"t know if he wants to move again,” Alec explained, feeling slightly nervous, and looked back down.

“Alec…” Maryse laughed softly. “Magnus loves you. He"ll follow you anywhere. He promised you, didn"t he?" Maryse could see Alec chuckling. He raised his gaze again and nodded at her.

“More than once.”

Maryse tilted her head and watched her son"s face. She could see that his eyes shone with love. He was incredibly happy and in love. And Maryse was so relieved that Alec could finally live again.

“Are you ready?" Hannah put her foot on the pedal that made the tattoo machine run. Alec looked at his forearm and looked one last time at his scar, which was already covered by the blue outlines. In a few hours, a black phoenix would adorn his forearm. Alec took a deep breath and put his head against the soft fabric of the couch.

“Ready,” he replied before turning his head to Magnus, who was sitting right next to him. Alec smiled at him. Magnus’ eyes glowed with pride.

“If it hurts... just think of something else. It"ll be tough, but we"ll get there together, right?" A cheeky smile lay on Hannah’s lips before she looked at Magnus who nodded at her. At the same time, he put his eyes back on Alec, who was still looking at him. A gentle smile lay on Alec’s lips before he reached for Magnus" hand.

“I"m proud of you,” Magnus whispered to him. Alec"s smile widened before he nodded and looked at Hannah, who was highly focused with the firebird"s outlines. Alec took a deep breath and looked up at the ceiling. He closed his eyes and hardly concentrated on the pain anymore, but rather on Magnus" gentle touches. Magnus and Hannah started talking about their work, their specialization in scar tattoos, Magnus" work, and how he and Alec met each other. How they had hated each other before eventually falling for the other one. Alec just listened to them, biting his lower lip every now and then to suppress the pain and generally just trying to relax. Magnus" voice calmed him down immensely.

“You okay, Alec?" Hannah spoke directly to him when she noticed that he tensed his hand more frequently with time passing by. Hannah paused and wiped the tattoo again.

“We"re almost done. Just a few more shadows and highlights and you"re home free,” she explained quietly. She could see that Alec"s hand was shaking slightly. She could imagine the pain Alec was going through in order to finally forget the pain of the past.

“Can you make it?" Magnus"s voice was now also heard and Alec slowly opened his eyes before nodding to him. Alec smiled faintly.

“I"m a bodyguard, aren"t I? Is there anything that I can’t do?” Alec chuckled gently, which also made Magnus smile. Magnus nodded at him before stroking the back of his hand.

“We"ve made it through everything so far,” he whispered in reply. Magnus looked over at Hannah, who looked at them with a warm smile.

“I have to say, I have rarely seen two people being so in love. I hope to be invited to your wedding.” Hannah winked at them before changing color to set the final details.

Alec repeated Hannah"s words in his head for quite a while. Wedding. He had had the idea for several months, but he wanted to wait for the right moment. For the right day, when it would just fit.

Not that he wasn"t sure. No, he knew he wanted to be with Magnus for the rest of his life. He just wanted to... wait, to get better.

He wanted to have the most perfect wedding and this would only be possible if he was healthy. When he didn"t have to worry about his physical condition and Magnus could also just switch off. But deep inside Alec knew that every time Magnus came home from work and placed a kiss on Alec"s shoulder as a greeting, every time the two of them stood together in the shower and exchanged gentle kisses, every time they lay in bed in the morning and neither of them wanted to get up, that Magnus was the one. He was the one Alec wanted to marry.

Him, and no one else.

“And done!" Hannah took her foot off the pedal and wiped the fresh tattoo one last time. Alec opened his eyes slightly and turned his head before looking at his arm in silence, desperately searching for the scar that had haunted him for quite a while. He couldn"t find it anymore.

It was gone. His past was gone.

“Let me just put some lotion on it and then we"ll put a plastic wrap on it in a few minutes, okay?” Hannah explained, but Alec paid no attention to her at all. Not even when she slowly put lotion on his forearm. It burned a little, but Alec didn"t feel the pain. He couldn’t describe what he was feeling right now. But it was certainly not pain. It felt as if a huge weight was falling off him after years of suffering in silence. He turned his head to Magnus, who smiled warmly at him.

“Do you like it?" Magnus asked softly as Hannah left the room to get some cling film. Alec blinked several times before nodding silently. His lips opened slightly. He was gonna say something, anything. But he couldn"t. He was taken aback. His gaze glided back to his arm, which was now adorned by a black phoenix rising from its own ashes. Alec remembered too well the conversation with Magnus about the motive. Like it was yesterday. Alec looked at Magnus again.

Alec smiled at him before he sat up and was thus on a par with Magnus. Once he was with him, the world stopped for Alec. It was just him and Magnus.

“It"s perfect,” Alec replied quietly before pulling Magnus into a gentle kiss. “Thank you,” he breathed huskily against Magnus"s lips. Magnus chuckled gently.

“You don"t always have to thank me, Alexander.”

“Yes, I do. Thank you for coming into my life.” Alec replied immediately. He knew he wanted to grow old with Magnus. He wanted it, needed it. Needed him.

“Where are we going?" Magnus was a bit confused when they got out of the car and were in another block neighborhood. Magnus didn"t really know the area, but everything seemed more expensive and noble than the rest of New York.

“I want to show you something,” Alec explained with a grin as he closed his car door and threw on his jacket. It wasn"t raining that day, which meant that Alec could enjoy the day even more. He didn"t have to worry about his health or that Magnus was pushing him to have them both go back home.

Alec went to Magnus and reached out his hand to him. He smiled brightly at Magnus and pointed down the street. Magnus took Alec"s hand silently, but stared at him with a questioning look.

“What exactly is this?" Magnus finally asked as they walked a few steps hand in hand.

“Don"t be so nosy and just wait and see,” Alec replied with a gentle smile.

“You know I"m curious,” Magnus grinned and Alec nodded, not taking his eyes off the pavement in front of them.

“I know.” Alec’s smile grew wider as he suddenly stopped. Magnus looked around in confusion.

“What"s wrong?" he asked, sounding bewildered.

“We"re here,” Alec replied warmly. He looked at Magnus, who still had a big question mark on his face. Alec released his hand from Magnus’ and reached into his jacket pocket. He took out two keys that were attached to a small ring before taking a step towards the house in front of them.

“Alexander-" Magnus slowly realized what was happening before his eyes, yet he didn"t want to admit that Alec wanted to move. With him. Alec unlocked the front door and turned to Magnus before asking him in. He smiled boldly at him.

“How did... how did you keep this from me?”

“I, too, have breaks from work. Come in and let"s take a look at it together.” Alec declared warmly.

Magnus immediately followed him into the hall and Alec closed the door behind him. The corridor to the different apartments had a direct inviting effect. It was bright and quite tall. There was an elevator and stairs with golden details.

“Wow…” Magnus was amazed, but Alec pulled him right into the elevator with him. The penthouse was on the sixth floor and the higher the elevator went, the more nervous Magnus became.

“How are we gonna pay for this?" he asked Alec when they arrived on the floor. He stopped in the hallway as Alec headed straight for the door. Alec turned to Magnus and looked at him with a gentle, love-filled look.

“Magnus... I"m working again,” Alec started slowly.

“But I can never afford a place like this.” Magnus sounded slightly desperate. Although he loved Alec more than anything, he didn’t want to live at his expense.

“And you don"t need to. I just think it"s time… that we finally settle down somewhere. And I don"t mean at my parents" house. Please don"t worry about the money, okay? As long as I live here with you, I don"t care if I pay the rent. I want to live here with you, Magnus. With you and those who follow.” He put his hands around Magnus" face and smiled softly at him. Magnus finally nodded at him before he put his hands around Alec"s and smiled back at him.

“But only if I get my walk-in closet,” he replied with a cheeky grin. Alec rolled his eyes and laughed softly before giving Magnus a gentle peck.

“Let"s go inside first, huh?" he whispered against his lips and Magnus nodded at him.

They broke from each other after another kiss and Alec grabbed the keys out of his jacket once again to open the huge door in front of them. Magnus just followed his hands in awe. He really couldn’t believe any of this yet. Sure, he was a teacher, he made good money for his job and yet he couldn’t dream of a loft, not in a million years.

“Who even owns this place?” Magnus asked as he looked at Alec, who turned his head towards him with a cheeky smile as the door got unlocked.

“A friend of my family. But if you love the place… it will be ours. I talked to my mom and since I’m back at work - we can pay it off.”

Magnus raised his hand in disbelief. “Hold on - You wanna buy this place?” Magnus thought that they’d live here and pay the rent every month, but actually buying the loft seemed crazy. This was a lot of money and he wasn’t sure if Alec had thought this through.

But Alec nodded with a soft laugh. “You really are in awe, aren’t you? Come in.” Alec stepped aside for a moment and let Magnus step in first. The teacher hesitated for a bit but eventually gave in. He just couldn’t resist Alec’s warm smile. He loved it so much, loved him so much.

Magnus stepped in and Alec followed him silently while closing the door. The loft was still decorated with furniture and had huge windows, which let the light of New York flow into the whole room in front of them. It seemed like a living room. Magnus walked forward a bit and stopped in the living room. It was an open area, a large dining table stood in front of him, the kitchen was on his right. Everything seemed beautiful and peaceful at the same time. The living room had a modern fireplace and the TV hung right above it. To the left and right of the fireplace were bookshelves, large enough to fit all the books that the two of them have collected already.

Magnus didn’t even notice Alec standing next to him until he spoke up.

“You like it?”

Magnus turned his head towards him, blinking confused before nodding speechlessly.

“This place is amazing, Alexander,” Magnus answered quietly. He was shocked, truly at a loss for words while looking around the room and finding all the little details that were right in front of him. To his left was a door, which led into the first room for guests - or for kids.

Right beside that door seemed to be a hallway that led to a little bathroom and to the stairs. They went to all the rooms in the first floor before heading upwards. Magnus couldn’t even describe his excitement when Alec opened the door that led to the bedroom.

And the bedroom was huge. He’d never seen such a huge bedroom. There was enough space for a desk with all his and Alec’s work. And a door was beside the bed, leading to an extra room.

“Is this what I think it is?” Magnus turned around and looked at Alec, who smiled and nodded. Magnus walked over to the door and looked inside the extra room. It was a walk-in closet, just like he had wished for.

And Magnus knew this place would be the perfect one for him and Alec.

They went out of the bedroom again to explore the rooms that were left. There was another bedroom, for guests or for their children, and obviously the master bathroom, with a bathtub, a walk-in shower. Everything seemed beautiful, unreal.

“Alexander… this place is,” Magnus looked outside the large windows in the living room to look down at the New York. The ceiling was high, which was the reason for the large windows that let in so much daylight.

“It’s fascinating…” Magnus turned around to Alec.

“Could you imagine living here? With me?” Alec asked out of the blue. He kinda hoped that Magnus didn’t need another night to sleep on it. He finally wanted to move forward with his future, with Magnus. He was ready to take the next step and he hoped that Magnus felt the same.

Alec looked at Magnus, eyes filled with love, waiting for his answer. He didn’t care if Magnus needed a moment to think about the whole thing. Magnus whatsoever, looked around the living room again, imagined his life with Alec in this loft. His future with him, their kids.

“Yes,” he answered with a smile. “I’d love to.” Magnus smiled warmly at Alec, who stepped closer to him. Alec kissed him softly, without hesitation. Magnus leaned into the kiss, letting his hands wander around Alec’s waist and kissed him back softly.

“I’d love to as well,” Alec whispered against his lips before he rested his forehead against Magnus’. Both of them closed their eyes and just enjoyed each other’s presence. Magnus let his hand wander up Alec’s back until he reached his cheek. His thumb glided over Alec’s cheek before he kissed him again.

“I love you so much, Alexander Gideon Lightwood,” he whispered with his eyes closed. Alec hummed softly, before leaning into another kiss.

He couldn’t describe the love he felt for Magnus, never could. He’d rather let his emotions speak for themselves. Kissing him, touching him, being with him. All of his actions towards Magnus were nothing more but showing off how much he loved him.

How much he wanted to be with him for the rest of his life.

TWELVE MONTHS LATER

Alec was healed. And it was one of the best pieces of information Magnus had received in the past years. He couldn’t describe his feelings when Noah had told him that all of Alec’s therapy sessions had been successful and that he was officially healed from GBS. He was free.

Magnus remembered how Alec had started crying in front of Noah and him. But it was nothing but tears of joy. And Magnus had had to fight with himself that he wouldn’t have started crying as well. This was what he had wished for the last years and now that it turned out to be reality - Alec hadn’t been able to hold himself anymore.

He was free

It didn’t take long until he actually started to work on Isabelle’s side again. They kept training together at his old place, while Magnus was working as well at his school with Raphael.

When they had moved into their loft, Clary had come over to help them redesigning some of the walls. And they even threw an inauguration party, kind of a late birthday party for Alec. And Magnus had rarely seen Alec so relaxed and happy with himself. Everyone came around. Isabelle with Clary, Maia with Simon, and even Raphael came around. And Alec was happy, he didn’t have to worry about his condition anymore, he was able to hug everyone for as long as he wanted to. He didn’t need to be afraid of anything anymore.

And he was so grateful.

After the party was over and everyone left, they took a shower together and when they lied down in bed, Magnus just looked at him with a content smile.

“Do I have something in my face?” Alec asked with an exhausted look on his face.

Magnus chuckled quietly before shaking his head and raising his hand a bit to glide over Alec’s cheek softly.

“I’m just happy that you’re happy.”

“I’m happy ever since you stood in front of my door with that umbrella,” Alec answered with a smile.

Magnus rolled his eyes before pinching Alec’s cheek. “You know what I mean.”

Alec raised his eyebrow in confusion and supported himself on his elbow. “Do I?”

“I’m happy that my wish from last year came true,” Magnus said softly before pulling his hand back and turning on his back. He stared at the ceiling and remembered his birthday party. How he had danced with Alec to that one song, how Isabelle had interrupted their kiss, how he had got his mother’s necklace. What he had wished for when blowing out the candles. Alec’s soft and warm smile at him behind his friends. He hadn’t been more than a shadow back then, but he had been everything to Magnus already.

“Your wish? You never told me,” Alec said quietly while drawing little circles on Magnus’ hand, playing with his rings.

“I wished for you to get healed, Alexander.” Magnus turned his head towards his boyfriend and couldn’t tell what went through Alec’s head. He smiled warmly, yet didn’t say a word.

“Really?” Alec raised his head to look at him and Magnus nodded softly.

“Really.” Magnus turned his head to Alec and smiled at him.

“We weren’t even a thing back then, Magnus.”

“And yet you meant the world to me, Alexander.”

Alec’s smile grew bigger before he went up a bit to crawl above his boyfriend. Magnus looked at him and raised his hand slowly to cup his cheek. He let his thumb glide over the soft skin. Alec leaned into the touch without hesitation.

“What if we wouldn’t be together right now? You would’ve wasted the wish,” Alec stated quietly before leaning down to put a kiss on Magnus’ lips. Magnus hummed into the kiss and reciprocated passionately.

“I wouldn"t have wasted it. It’d be enough for me to know that you’re better know.”

“I wouldn’t be without you by my side.” Alec lied down on Magnus’ chest and closed his eyes. “I would be nothing without you. And probably in a wheelchair already.” He listened to the steady heartbeat of his boyfriend, which calmed him down every night.

“Alexander…” Magnus whispered with a smile, while drawing circles on Alec’s shoulders. “I’m so glad we met.”

“I’m so glad you listened to my sister,” Alec replied quietly while chuckling. He raised his head again to kiss Magnus passionately. “I love you,” he said after the kiss.

“I love you so much,” he continued before kissing him again. Magnus leaned into the kiss, letting his hands glide through Alec’s hair, making Alec moan quietly into the kiss.

Alec had no idea how much Magnus loved him. How much he needed him to breathe.

TWO MONTHS LATER

When Magnus woke up from his dream he felt the two warm arms being wrapped around him. Alec held him tight against his chest, making sure that no one would ever take him away from him. Alec would leave today. For two whole nights. And Magnus didn’t know if he would be able to fall asleep without his safety.

He would miss him like crazy, but at the same time, he was happy for Alec. He could finally do what he had always wished for. He could work again, protect people.

Though he would always die to save Magnus.

Magnus raised his head to look at the clock hanging at their bedroom wall. They still had some time left until Alec’s alarm would go off, which was why Magnus rested head back on Alec’s chest. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. It only took him a few minutes to almost fall asleep again but then he felt how Alec drew little circles over his shoulders. He was awake.

“Good morning,” Magnus mumbled against Alec’s skin. Alec’s chuckle was raspy before he put a kiss on Magnus’ hair.

“Good morning. Slept well?” he asked out of curiosity. Magnus raised his head slowly to look at Alec. He shook his head.

“Not really. It’s kinda hard knowing that I won’t have you for the next two nights. How am I supposed to fall asleep?”

“You will find a way, trust me,” Alec answered softly before kissing him. Magnus smiled into the kiss, before breaking off. He looked at his boyfriend, looked at all the details his face offered. All the different facades, emotions, stories that were written on Alec’s face. Magnus loved every detail of that face, the brief scar on Alec’s eyebrow, the huge, shining eyes, the long eyelashes, the faint stubble on his jaw, and the tiny little dimple on his nose whenever he was playing being mad at Magnus.

“What are you staring at, again?” Alec tilted his head a tiny bit. He loved to observe Magnus when he was lost in his thought. He loved how mysterious Magnus would get when he thought about something.

“Oh nothing, I just noticed your dimple getting bigger,” Magnus replied quietly. His smile widened.

Alec raised an eyebrow. “My dimple?” He tensed his forehead, which only got his dimple growing more prominent right on his nose tip. “Which dimple?”

“You never noticed? The one on your nose.” Magnus chuckled before reaching up to boop Alec’s nose with his index finger.

Alec followed his finger and huffed a laugh before shaking his head. “No, I’m sorry, I never get grumpy in front of my mirror to observe the dimple on my nose,” he replied with a smile before placing a kiss on Magnus’ finger.

“Aren’t you always grumpy when I’m not around?” Magnus smirked teasingly. He knew where he’d get Alec when he kept going.

Alec narrowed his eyebrows “Low blow, Bane.” He kissed him again, passionately. As he broke the kiss he looked Magnus in the eye. “God, I will miss this for the next three days.”

“You will miss everything of this,” Magnus exclaimed as he pointed down on himself. “And you’ll wish for the next two days that you’d have taken a job around here.” He whispered into Alec’s ear with a dark and husky voice, giving Alec goosebumps.

“What are you trying to do here, babe?” Alec loved this mood, but he wasn’t sure if Magnus really wanted to aim at the goal he was aiming at right now.

“I want you to remember what it feels like to feel loved, Alexander. Because you won’t feel that for the next three days.” Magnus got up to sit down on Alec’s lap. He smirked at him and leaned down to place kisses on his chest, making Alec hum in excitement.

“Why are you doing this?” Alec asked in a husky tone. “Why do you make me crave this so much?” Alec let his hand slide over Magnus’ arms and his sides. He loved his body, every part of it. And he would never want to miss any of this. Anything of him. Even if it was just for three days.

Magnus started kissing up his neck, kissing over the tattoo, along his jawline, and up his cheek to bite into his earlobe.

“I want you to crave it right now, Alexander. Crave me, Alexander,” he whispered into his ear slowly before leaning back to face him. Magnus could feel Alec’s breath against his lips. It had gotten unsteady, wild.

“Magnus- I need to get ready,” Alec tried to interrupt him and his idea of doing it right now.

But Magnus just put his finger on his lips and closed his eyes. “Shh… trust me, there’s enough time left for us time.” He kissed Alec deeply before carefully licking over his lip.

“Let me know for the next days that I’m yours,” he begged him darkly before slowly opening his eyes. Alec opened his eyes as well, his breath still unsteady and audible.

“You gonna regret this, Bane.” Alec cupped his face all of a sudden and kissed him deeply, pulling him closer towards him. Magnus let himself fall into the kiss, into Alec’s hands. He let Alec take over the control. The total amount of control.

Alec got up while kissing and pushed Magnus into the bedsheet underneath them. He continued kissing him, more deeply, more passionately. Magnus let out sounds of joy and excitement, letting his hands glide over Alec’s arms and shoulders while kissing him. He tugged his hair softly, making Alec moan into the kiss.

“Take me,” Magnus whispered huskily. It wasn’t the first time he gave control over to Alec, but it was the first time he wanted Alec to do whatever he wanted. He knew Alec was a dominant, leading person. And he knew Alec wanted to discover new territories with him and always held back to not hurt Magnus.

Alec broke the kiss to take a closer look at him. He tilted his head just a few inches to let his thumb glide over Magnus’ cheek, making him lean into the soft touch. Magnus had closed his eyes. Alec let his eyes fly over Magnus’ beautiful face. Over and over again.

“Babe…”

“I trust you,” Magnus said immediately as he opened his eyes. He smiled at Alec, which made Alec smirk lightly before he nodded.

“If you want to stop at any point… tell me.” Alec placed a kiss on his lips, one of the last soft gestures they shared before it got more passionate, rough. Alec placed his hands right beside Magnus’ head and started kissing him deeply, lowering his hips onto Magnus. Magnus started to moan into the kisses, reaching for Alec’s hair to crawl his fingers into it, tugging on his hair to bring him closer.

Alec smiled into the kiss before he lowered his hips again, letting Magnus moan against his lips. Alec felt that Magnus was definitely needy for everything that would come next. He moved to kiss down Magnus’ neck, sucking on the skin to leave marks on it.

Magnus closed his eyes in pleasure and threw his head back to reveal his neck even more. He needed more of Alec, more contact. He raised his legs to rest them around Alec’s hips, pushing him down to get the contact he needed so badly.

Alec broke the kiss and glanced over his shoulder to take a look at Magnus’ legs. He chuckled quietly before looking back at Magnus. “Someone is eager, huh?”

Alec leaned down, kissing Magnus’ chest when he didn’t answer him. He made him call out his name, which sounded like music to Alec. Magnus continued to tug on Alec’s hair, which led to Alec kissing him more passionately. But Alec changed the game, he grabbed Magnus’ hands and put them above his head. He exerted pressure on his hands to keep them there, while he kept kissing him roughly.

“I love you,” he whispered huskily against his lips. Magnus nodded between his kisses. He was out of breath already, not being able to answer him, but he tried to lift his hips to make contact with Alec. But Alec wasn’t giving in easily.

“Stop fighting.” Alec smirked against his lips before kissing him again, killing off his moaning. He still kept his hand around Magnus’ hands, while he let his free hand discover the body underneath him. He gently glided over Magnus’ belly, stopping at the waistband of his underwear. And Magnus tried everything to get him to continue moving his hand. But Alec didn’t. He continued to look at him with a dark smirk.

“Alexander-” Magnus moaned while trying to push his hips upwards, to get more friction, yet Alec exerted pressure on his groin to keep him down. Their eyes met in the light of the rising sun and Alec could tell that Magnus was about to melt due to his touches. Magnus licked the skin above his own lips while looking at Alec, making the bodyguard lose his mind, slowly but surely.

“I didn’t lie when I said you’re my weakness,” Alec stated roughly. Magnus was about to chuckle softly when he felt Alec’s hand around the centre of his body. He closed his eyes in pleasure and wanted to moan out loud but he only met Alec’s lips, who kissed him breathlessly.

“Shhh… you don’t want the neighbor to hear you, hmm?” Alec whispered against his lips in a husky voice. Magnus couldn’t say anything - he just nodded eagerly, flinching from Alec’s touches around his centre.

“Let me touch you-” Magnus begged him roughly, but Alec just shook his head while smiling. He continued kissing him, exerted pressure on both of his hands, making Magnus lose his mind. Magnus didn’t know where to focus on, but he felt like his whole body was on fire. He was ready for much more than just Alec’s hand, he wanted so much more of Alec, wanted to feel him. To feel the pleasure that Alec was able to give him. Every time they shared those intimate moments with each, Magnus felt like he was on top of the world, he felt high.

He felt so much at the same time that he couldn’t express his feelings.

“Alexander-” Magnus moaned into the next kiss. Alec was above him, kissing him wildly while moving in a steady rhythm with Magnus. He wanted to touch him since they started, but Alec told him to not move his hands until he’d tell him to.

They continued kissing, but Alec ignored Magnus’ pleasure spot. He wanted to hear Magnus begging for it.

“Let go of yourself.” Alec kissed him again, panting against his lips before sucking at him. Magnus lost track of time, just focused on all the things he felt with Alec, the kisses, the sucking on his skin, the pressure that Alec exerted on his hands, which were already besides his head, caging him in. Magnus had tried to touch Alec, but Alec noticed soon enough and dealt with the problem.

Magnus closed his eyes again, throwing his head back in pleasure and calling out Alec’s name. He begged for mercy, begged for Alec to let him free so that Magnus could touch him, his hair, his back, anything.

He needed to hold onto something.

Alec looked around the room. He wanted to try something new, and they had talked about it often enough for him to know that they both were open to try new things, new positions. He didn’t stop the rhythm and when he looked back at Magnus, he met eyes filled with pleasure and lust. Magnus’ body burned out of pleasure. A smirk rushed over Alec’s lips as he leaned down, making himself thrust deeper into Magnus.

“Do you trust me?” he whispered into his ear before kissing it. Magnus called out his name and nodded.

“Yes,” he moaned roughly. “Yes, I trust you.” His moans became louder with each thrust that Alec pushed inside of him.

“Hold on tight on me, babe,” Alec growled huskily against his mouth before sucking on his lips, feeling how Magnus wrapped his arms and legs around Alec’s body. He felt how he pushed his nails inside Alec’s skin, trying to grab onto something, to get the confirmation that it was real.

Alec put his hands behind Magnus back and got up slowly, making Magnus moan into the kiss. They didn’t break the kiss, both unwilling to break away from each other. They always stayed connected. Alec walked towards the wall in their bedroom and when Magnus’ back met the wall he wheezed in surprise, suddenly breaking the kiss and throwing his head back when he felt Alec pushing inside of him again.

“Alexander,” he kept moaning and calling out his name. His fingernails digged deeper into Alec’s skin, leaving traces of desire and passion, making Alec lose his mind. Each kiss blew up another firework inside their bodies. “More, give me more.” Magnus moaned when the next thrust got deeper than the one before. He didn’t want it to stop. He felt the connection between them growing bigger with each thrust, with each kiss they exchanged.

“You’re not the one giving orders right now,” Alec replied huskily before thrusting deeper into him once again. Magnus’ fingers tensed on Alec’s back and he moaned helplessly, throwing his head back, exposing his neck to Alec. And Alec used the chance to leave more marks on that beautiful neck. He really wished for Magnus to wear a scarf to work for the next days. Because he’d definitely need it.

He smirked at him when Magnus looked at him again. “I love you,” Alec said with a low tone before snapping at his lips.

“I love you, too.” Magnus seemed breathless. He wasn’t in the position to give any orders to Alec, so he enjoyed everything that Alec gave him in the moment. He closed his eyes again and tugged at Alec’s hair, crawling his fingers through it.

Alec continued with his work and felt how Magnus’ whole body began to tense up. He immediately stopped thrusting into him and looked into his face. Magnus took a shaky breath and opened his eyes desperately.

“I need more,” he begged quietly before facing Alec, who was smirking.

“I know,” Alec answered slowly. “I want you to tell me what you want.” He whispered while licking over Magnus’ neck, making Magnus gasp.

“I want you,” Magnus began shakily. “I want you to continue,” he eventually managed to say when he stopped concentrating on Alec’s tongue for a second. But just as he finished, Alec started thrusting into him again, shutting him off with a kiss when Magnus was about to call out his name. He had no mercy for Magnus, he wanted Magnus to let go of himself, to let himself fall into Alec’s arms. He knew it would take some time to make him let loose but Alec was ready to take the risk to give Magnus the full amount of pleasure that he deserved.

And more specifically; he wanted to test his boundaries.

“Now I’m gonna tell you what I want from you. ” Alec went up to his ear again. Goosebumps went over Magnus the second he heard him talking darkly.

“I want you to tell me when you’re about to come, okay?” He faced Magnus while he kept thrusting into him - but Magnus nodded. And Alec smiled proudly at him, before looking down in between them.

“Touch yourself,” he ordered huskily while kissing Magnus’ forearm. His thrusts got slower for the time being. Magnus looked at him for a moment before he opened his mouth.

“Alexander, I-”

“Do it, I got you,” Alec interrupted him kindly with a shaky voice. He knew that Magnus was close, but he wouldn’t let it happen too soon.

Magnus’ eyes watched him for a while until he let go of one hand that was wrapped around Alec and reached in between them. Magnus bit his lower lip when he touched himself and felt the pleasure rushing through his body. He moaned loudly in relief as he closed his eyes and Alec rested his hands underneath Magnus’ arms to support him.

Magnus started tensing, calling out Alec’s name more and more frequently. Alec knew he was close, but he wanted Magnus to say it.

“Alexander-” Magnus started moaning loudly. He changed the pace of his hand. “I’m,” Magnus moaned again. “I’m about to com-”

Alec stopped moving the second Magnus finished his sentence and a disappointed moan left Magnus’ lips. He opened his eyes to face Alec. Alec smiled at him, desire burning in his eyes. He leaned over to Magnus to pull him into a deep, loving kiss. He always made sure that Magnus still enjoyed what they did.

“Hold onto me,” he told him. And Magnus didn’t hesitate to do so. He wrapped his arms around his shoulders again as Alec brought him back to the bed. They broke their connection and Magnus felt empty all of a sudden. He turned on his back to face Alec again, who crawled above him to pull him into a kiss, while his hand wandered down in between them.

It didn’t take long until Magnus moaned against his lips, making Alec smirk again. He had him where he wanted him to be. Melting by his touches.

“Turn around,” he ordered quietly before kissing him one last time. Magnus nodded quickly before turning around and resting on his knees and elbows. He felt Alec approaching him and it didn’t take long until they were connected once again. Alec leaned above him, kissing his shoulders and his neck, reaching for his hands, which Magnus had digged into the bed sheet to find any kind of support. But when Alec reached for his hand and connected his with Magnus’, Magnus felt safe.

“I got you,” Alec whispered into his ear before kissing down his shoulder. He started thrusting into him again, making Magnus see stars. Magnus lost his sense of direction, he just exerted pressure on his hand to show Alec how much he enjoyed it. He started moving in Alec’s rhythm to feel, even more, to encourage Alec to go faster.

Magnus continued to call out his name, biting into his lower lip to make himself stop from making those loud noises, but he couldn"t. There wasn’t a single person before Alec that had brought this much pleasure out of him. There simply wasn’t.

And eventually, Alec’s free hand got send to Magnus’ centre, making him gasp in pleasure. He flinched his back, but Alec continued to kiss down his spine. He exerted pressure on his hand, changed the pace as soon as Magnus’ moan got unsteady.

“Alec-”

“I’m here,” Alec kissed his shoulder again, moving his hand faster, feeling how Magnus tensed around himself.

“Let me come-” Magnus begged in pleasure. Alec smiled at him while kissing down his spine again, feeling how much Magnus started to tense, how much pressure he put into his hand resting on the bed to show Alec that he was close. He started begging, and that’s what Alec wanted him to do.

To beg.

“Please, Alexander...”

“You think I would make you come without seeing your beautiful face?” Alec stopped his movements, bringing Magnus to moan and break down on the bed. He was shaking in pleasure, but he didn’t get to jump over the cliff yet. Alec pulled back carefully, making Magnus hum in brief pain.

“You okay?” Alec asked him quietly while kissing his shoulder blades. Magnus nodded in the bedsheet.

“Yeah,” he breathed out shakingly. “I feel perfect.” He smiled weakly at his boyfriend. He had never seen Alec being this rough and dominant before, but it turned him on in every way.

Alec reached out for Magnus’ cheek and let his thumb glide over the sweaty skin. He smiled at him, eyes filled with love and understanding. Magnus leaned into the touch and only a few seconds passed until they were kissing again. Alec passively rolled over Magnus and cupped his face, making him moan in pleasure again when he subtly reached for Magnus’ centre. At the same time, he reconnected himself with his boyfriend. He leaned down to kiss Magnus in the rhythm of his thrust. He also reached out for Magnus’ hand, which was lying next to him. He led the hand to Magnus’ centre and broke the kiss to look him into the eye as he nodded.

Magnus licked himself over his lips at the same time. He started moving his hand and threw his head back, his eyes closing with intense pleasure. He knew he wouldn’t last much longer and he had no idea how Alec was able to last that long. Everything felt so good, so right. There was nothing going on in Magnus’ mind, not even the thought of Alec being gone for the next three days. It was just him and Alec. In their bed, making love.

“More,” Magnus moaned loudly while moving his hand faster. Alec tilted his head when their eyes met. He reached out his hand to lay it down around Magnus’ neck. He didn’t exert pressure yet, just looked him into his eye. And Magnus nodded in consent. He knew what Alec wanted to try and he was down for it.

“Give me everything, Alexander.” Magnus smirked at him before he opened his mouth in pleasure as Alec’s thrusts got deeper and he started exerting pressure around Magnus’ neck. And Alec had never felt this kind of feeling before. This kind of lust and desire, hearing Magnus moan in such a tone that was exclusively for him all alone. He felt how fast Magnus started to tense around him.

And he knew it was the right time to make him jump over the cliff with him.

Alec leaned down to his mouth, licking over his lips while still applying pressure on his neck, making sure not to harm him at all. “Come for me,” he whispered against Magnus’ lips while his thrusts got unsteady, faster, quicker.

Magnus closed his eyes in pleasure, moaning his name shakingly because of Alec’s hand around his neck, but he felt that he was ready to jump over the cliff.

“Just let yourself fall, come for me,” Alec repeated before kissing him. And just at that moment, Magnus jumped over the cliff, feeling how the fireworks hit him again as he felt his climax hitting him and Alec at the same time. Alec let go of his neck immediately and focused on their climaxes, kissing him passionately through it, while holding his free hand. He pressed the hand into the bedsheet, making Magnus feel so many emotions at once.

As they broke the kiss, Magnus smiled at him while his whole body was shaking in the aftershocks. But he seemed happy, relaxed, satisfied.

“I love you so much,” he said breathlessly. He was still trying to catch his breath, taking deep, unsteady breaths. But his smile didn’t fade. And neither did Alec’s. He had a hard time holding up on top of Magnus and Magnus noticed soon enough to tell him to lean back a bit. And Alec did slowly, to make sure he didn’t hurt him.

“I love you, too,” Alec replied when lying down on Magnus’ chest, listening to the unsteady, fast pacing heartbeat. Their bodies were filled with adrenaline.

“I like seeing this side of you,” Magnus whispered against his hair, drawing small forms on his shoulder. “It’s hot.”

Alec raised his head slowly. “Is it?” He chuckled before kissing Magnus. “You won’t forget me in the next three days after this, right?”

“Never,” Magnus replied with a smile before giving into the kiss.

“An advent calendar?” Magnus looked at Alec, who was getting ready for work. They had just finished their shower after spending a few minutes in bed, but the second Magnus went back to the bedroom, Alec didn’t even hesitate to give him the advent calendar that he been preparing as a secret for months already.

“What about it?” Alec looked over to him while finishing his hair. He smiled cheekily at him, while Magnus stood in the door with the calendar in his hands.

“I’m turning 24 in a few days, my love.”

Alec finished his styling and washed his hands before walking past Magnus to give him a kiss on the cheek. “You’re never too old for an advent calendar,” he whispered into his ear before heading towards the kitchen.

He had already packed his suitcase a day ago, which was why he still had some time left to enjoy his breakfast with Magnus. It was the first time of leaving his home for more than a few hours. The first time of leaving Magnus behind for two nights.

“I’m gonna miss you.” Magnus entered the open kitchen and sat down on one of the bar stools as Alec served him his coffee.

“Trust me, you’re not alone in this,” he replied kindly before sitting down next to him. Magnus had placed the advent calendar next to them on the kitchen island.

“You have to promise me that you’ll open it tomorrow and the day after. It’s important.”

“For what?” Magnus turned his head towards his boyfriend, who just smirked at him before sipping on his coffee.

“Just promise me,” he said after putting down his mug.

Magnus blinked a few times before he took a deep breath and nodded. “I promise. But only because of the insanely good sex we had just half an hour ago. You gotta promise me something as well, though.”

Alec looked over to him and raised an eyebrow. “You also got me an advent calendar?”

“What? N-no, darling. You already have yours.” Magnus pointed over the kitchen island to counter where the tea advent calendar stood. Magnus smiled at Alec, who started to laugh quietly before nodding.

Alec raised his hand. “Okay, you got me, what’s the matter? What do I promise you besides my unending love?” He asked with a bright smile.

Magnus smiled back at him and lay his hand on Alec’s thigh to carefully stroke over it. “Promise me you’ll text me when you get there. And send me updates, okay? I’ve never been in Los Angeles.”

Alec’s smile grew bigger. “I will. I will call you, okay?”

“You’ll be three hours behind me, my love.” Magnus chuckled before leaning towards him to give him a soft kiss.

“And?” Alec said after the kiss. “I love it when you fall asleep next to me, it won’t make such a difference.” They kissed again after Magnus rolled his eyes.

Both of them enjoyed their breakfast before Isabelle knocked at the door.

“Seems like your sister is taking you away from me once again,” Magnus joked around before getting up and opening the door for her.

“It’s not like we’re not used to it.” Alec laughed warmly before finishing his coffee and getting up to get his stuff together. Isabelle talked to Magnus in the meantime. Alec took one last look at the advent calendar and took a deep breath. There was no going back from now on.

He walked over to the front door and greeted his sister, who was already making jokes with Magnus about his hickies.

“Damn, big bro! It’s only three days. It seemed like you really wanted to make sure, huh?”

“It’s not like I was the one asking for it,” Alec defended himself with a smirk in Magnus’ direction, which got the teacher blushing.

“Anyway, take care, my love,” Magnus said eventually and kissed Alec one last time. He let his hand ran through his hair, though Alec had just finished his styling a few moments before. “I love you,” he whispered against his lips. Alec nodded softly into the next kiss.

“I love you, too,” he replied quietly before breaking away from Magnus and taking his suitcase. He looked at his sister and took a step forward.

“Have fun!” Magnus said to them and both of them raised their hand to wave goodbye.

The next day, Magnus got up after a long night of facetiming with Alec. He was pretty tired but had to get up anyway since he had to work. He walked over in the bedroom and got ready relatively quickly before heading to the kitchen to prepare himself his cup of coffee. He looked over to the advent calendar and remembered the conversation he had had with Alec while Face-Timing. He had had to promise him again that he would open each day, without missing a single day and without throwing anything away that’s inside of it.

Magnus started to question what the hell Alec had got for him, but he was also curious about it. So he opened the first door when his coffee was slowly dripping into his mug.

It was a note, not very long, but Magnus could tell that it was handwritten by Alec himself.

W hen we first met, I never thought that one day I’d be the luckiest man on earth. I love you, Magnus.

A smile grew on Magnus’ lips. He felt how his stomach got filled with butterflies again. He remembered the first days after meeting Alec. It had been a nightmare and he had seriously been about to end this job many times, but he was glad that he had decided against it.

Magnus put the tiny note back into the calendar and took his mug while taking out his phone to text his boyfriend. Alec was probably still asleep but Magnus knew that he loved waking up to messages.

[I really thought you’d gift me a DIY tea advent calendar, but you continue to surprise me, Alexander. I hope you’ll have a great day, I love you.] 6:40 AM

The days until Christmas got shorter, especially after Alec came back from his trip and they went on a romantic date for Magnus’ birthday. Alec went for a walk with him afterwards and they walked over the Brooklyn Bridge. He had gifted Magnus a lock, which they put on the Brooklyn Bridge, to show their love to the whole world. Magnus couldn’t express his feelings for the bodyguard, especially with each day waking up and getting to read another cute and sappy note about himself or about their love. Sometimes, Alec had even drawn something on the note just to make him smile.

And eventually, December 24th came around and the last door of the calendar was yet to open. While Alec got up way earlier than usual to open his own door, Magnus spent some time in their bed, enjoying the spirit of Christmas and not needing to work, nor having to get up early because Alec had to leave the house.

But eventually, he got up and entered the kitchen.

“Good morning,” he yawned before kissing Alec slowly.

“Morning,” Alec mumbled against his lips with a smile. He seemed nervous, played with his cup the whole time, but Magnus didn’t seem to bother. At the end of the day, Alec was a sucker for Christmas.

“Coffee?” Alec got up and filled up another mug for Magnus.

“Sure,” Magnus said gratefully with a delighted smile before taking his mug and sipping on it.

Alec watched him nervously before turning around to the advent calendar.

“You still have all the notes, right?” Alec turned around to face him again. Magnus nodded at him. “Yeah, why?” Magnus was confused and curious at the same time. He saw Alec opening up all the doors again to get the notes out for him.

“You wanna admire your own work once again?” Magnus watched him taking out the notes and turning around to him, placing them down in front of him day by day.

“Not quite,” Alec answered with a gentle smile.

Magnus’ eyes flew over all the notes again, letting his heart jump around in his chest like he was a crazy teenager. “They were really beautiful, Alexander. Thank you so much.”

“It’s one door left,” Alec said with a smile before handing over the calendar. Magnus nodded and opened the last door, taking out the note and unfolding it without a word. In the meantime, Alec walked around the kitchen island and stood behind him, looking over his shoulder, watching him read the note.

E ventually, I decided that I wanna be with you for the rest of my life, Magnus Bane. I love you until the day I stop breathing.

Magnus read over the note once again, before he looked at Alec for a moment.

“What?”

“Put the notes together,” Alec said with a huge smile.

Magnus looked back at the notes and read through them again, noticing that the start letter of each note was not only a capital one but also written down way bigger than the rest of the note.

And so he connected the hints, given by Alec.

W I L L  Y O U  M A G N U S  B A N E  M A R R Y  M E

He blinked a few times, trying to find words that would describe how he felt. But he couldn’t. He turned around to Alec, who was already on his knee and had a box opened. The box showed two rings, they were black with rose-golden elements on the side of each ring.

Magnus felt tears rushing to his eyes, but he had promised himself that if he’d ever get proposed one day, he wouldn’t cry about it.

And yet here he was, trying not to break down in front of Alec.

Magnus opened his mouth, he couldn’t say a word. He glanced back at the notes before he was facing Alec again.

“Speechless?” Alec asked smiling.

Magnus nodded, feeling how a tear rolled down his cheek, but he smiled.

“Yes,” he finally said as an answer that Alec didn’t have to repeat.

Alec’s smile grew bigger before he took out a ring to put it on Magnus’ finger.

“How did you… how did you find out about the ring size?” Magnus asked confused when the ring fit perfectly. The teacher took the other ring out of the box and put it on Alec’s finger.

“Well that wasn’t really difficult given the amount of rings you have, hm?” Alec stood up again to pull Magnus into a kiss. A deep, filled with love and extremely long kiss.

“I love you… so much,” he whispered against Magnus’ lips, which Magnus gave back right afterwards.

“Let me show you something.” The bodyguard broke away from Magnus and showed him the ring. He touched the ring quickly and it glowed up. A thin, red line was visible for a short amount of time until Magnus felt a subtle vibration on his hand. He raised his hand as well and looked at Alec.

“Touch it,” Alec said warmly and Magnus followed his instruction, touching the ring carefully. Seconds later, Alec received the stimulation of Magnus’ heartbeat for a short amount of time.

“You seem… nervous,” Alec joked before laughing quietly. Magnus tilted his head.

He was confused, not being able to process what was happening in front of him. But Alec helped him out, he told Magnus to touch his own ring again, which Magnus did, while Alec also touched his ring again and now it was Magnus who received a beating stimulation.

It was a heartbeat. It was Alec’s heartbeat

“Alexander-”

“The ring reflects our heartbeat whenever one of us presses the ring and the other one does as well, it will send a signal to the one requesting, sending them a reflection of the heartbeat. No matter how far we are from each other.”

Magnus blinked in confusion, looking at his ring once again. The idea was brilliant.

Alec was brilliant, his fiance was brilliant.

He looked at Alec again before jumping into his arms to kiss him deeply. They’ll get married, he will marry the love of his life, the person that saved him, though he never wanted to be saved himself.

They continued kissing each other until they fell onto their bed to spend the rest of the day celebrating the proposal their way.

TWO YEARS LATER

“You ever think back?” Magnus asked him quietly. He had closed his eyes, leaning against his husband and enjoying the sounds of the waves in front of them. They were watching the sunset over Bali. It was so peaceful around them Magnus thought it was nothing more than a dream.

“To which time?”

“To the time where neither of us thought we’d end up together,” he said quietly before opening his eyes and looking into Alec’s. He smiled, the sunlight reflecting in his eyes.

“Sometimes, yeah. But then I remember how lucky I am to be here, with you.” Alec looked up to the water. “To have all of this.” His smile grew bigger. He looked back at Magnus, who reached out for his cheek to slowly glide over the skin with his fingers.

“Wanna go back to the cabin?” Alec whispered into the ear of his husband while stroking his back peacefully. Magnus hummed softly before getting up with Alec. He took his hand carefully before both of them turned around to the beach.

“Hope!” Alec called out kindly and the little girl turned around. She was smiling at her parents, taking her tiny shovel and the bucket before she ran over to them. Alec took her hand and smiled at her. “Did you see anything, sweetheart?” He asked her. Hope nodded enthusiastically.

“I saw a dolphin, Pa!” she looked behind Alec to meet the look of Magnus.

“A dolphin? Did you give them a name?” Magnus wanted to know, not realizing that she looked to the water once again.

“Snippey!” she yelled happily before letting go of Alec’s hand to run in front of them. Alec wanted to tell her to wait since she couldn’t swim yet, but Magnus held him back.

“Hold on, darling.” They stopped and their gaze followed Hope, who was running right next to the water. Alec looked at the ocean and saw a dolphin jumping out of the water over and over again, letting out sounds of joy.

“You gotta stop protecting her the whole time, angel,” Magnus whispered into his ear before placing a kiss on his cheek. Alec chuckled softly.

“I know, but you know I can’t help it.”

Magnus nodded and smiled quietly before he put his head on Alec’s shoulder. They watched Hope playing with the dolphin in the distance, watching the sun setting over their heads, enjoying the presence of each other while holding hands.

And somehow Magnus knew that this was what peace felt like. That he didn’t need to be famous to be happy. He only needed Alec by his side.

And he knew that he had found his family, his one and only, his mission for the rest of his life. He knew that he could stand wherever he wanted to be, as long as he was holding Alec’s hand.

As long as they made each other feel whole.
