Be As You Are

Chapter 25: Chapter 26

Summary:

There's one thing I will always agree with Chuck on..."Endings are hard. Any chapped-ass monkey with a keyboard can poop out a beginning, but endings are impossible."

This took forever to write. Mostly because I was worried I couldn't do them justice. It's short, but really, what more is there to say? Their story had come to an end.

I hope you all have enjoyed my fic as much as I have enjoyed writing it (even if it did take forever haha). I'm excited to work on my other one, Sting like a Bee, though I may take down the first chapter and restart it as I've been planning a different route for it. Either way, I'm sure that one will take quite some time as well ;) we all know I'm not known for my speediness in writing.

Thank you all for baring with me, and sticking around to the end. I love my fandom ❤

Consider this my new year's gift to you all. I hope 2020 treats you all with love and kindness, I know you all deserve it. Happy New Year everyone!

Chapter Text

The following weeks went by with ease, albeit slowly for Dean as he continued his bed rest. With his little family whole once again, stress was a nonissue, and the pup inside him continued to grow with no further problems. He had tried to talk Jody into allowing him to get up again, but she and Cas had both ganged up on him with reasons why it would be better for him to stick with his bed rest.

To appease his bored mate, Castiel carried him bridal style to the back gardens once a day for some fresh air. Some days Anna visited with her children as well as Kevin. Dean enjoyed those days most. Lounging in the thick grass, a flower crown upon his head that Hael had made him, and Cas at his side as they watched the children tumbling through the greenery. Surrounded by friends and family, Dean couldn't imagine anything more heavenly.

At thirty seven weeks and three days pregnant, Dean woke to a soaked mattress and familiar searing pain across his abdomen. Castiel was already out of bed and down the hall to fetch the doctor before Dean had a chance to ask.

Everyone in Eden Estate lined the hallways with baited breath and hushed whispers until the wail of a newborn pup echoed through the walls, strong and healthy. Only moments later a second cry rang out.

"Twins!" Charlie squealed, throwing her arms around Jo. "I can't believe it!"

Inside the room, the new parents sat in their bed, each holding a squirming pup in their arms. "Hello little ones," Cas spoke softly, "What will we call you?"

"I'd l-like to call her M-Mary, if that's all right with y-you." Dean said, his exhaustion making it harder to fight his stutter.

Cas hummed in assent, "Mary suits her well."

Dean brushed his fingers across his new daughter's dusting of blond hair, all ready so in love with her. He turned to the pup in his mate's arms and smiled fondly, "What s-should we name him?"

"I believe he looks like a Jack to me." Cas announced, smoothing a thumb across the pup's flushed cheek. "Mary and Jack Winchester-Novak."

Dean sighed and let his head drop to his mate's shoulder. "I l-like it, s-sounds st-strong."

"Strong names for strong pups. Just like their daddy." Castiel placed a kiss upon the omega's forehead. "You should get some rest. When the pups are ready to feed we'll wake you."

"E-everyone's  p-prob'ly d-dying to see t-the pups-"

"They can wait a while longer. You've just been through a tough ordeal, you must be exhausted. Besides, the pups need their daddy healthy and well-rested." Castiel said sternly.

Jody appeared at the side of the bed to swoop in and pluck Mary out of Dean's arms before he could protest, "Your Alpha is right, you need to rest. These pups aren't going anywhere and those folks out there could learn a thing or two about having patience anyway." She heaved an annoyed breath, "Popping in here every other minute during your contractions to see if the pup was here yet. Impatient children, all of them!"

Dean chuckled as he sunk down into the fresh sheets. He wanted nothing more than to take both pups into his arms and never let them go but even he had to admit he was drained. Besides, he knew Castiel would be there to keep an eye on the twins while he slept. And after that...they'd have a lifetime together.

5 years later

"Mary, you cheated!"

"Did not! You're just slow!"

"Am not, I'm older and better. You're just a cheater!"

"Papa, why are they always fighting?" Jack sighed, flopping his little body down on the grass next to his parents.

"Sibling rivalry," Castiel answered simply, his eyes never leaving his book though he wore a small smirk.

Claire and Mary were both headstrong and fierce in their own rights, never willing to be the one to back down when they found themselves butting heads- which was far too often. Dean and Cas had given up playing referee to their arguments long ago. Though the arguments would sometimes end in tears when one hurt the other's feelings, they were quick to console one another. They may have been each other's biggest rival, they were also best friends.

Dean often used to worry that Jack may feel left out when it came to how close his sisters were, but that worry was put to rest when Castiel helped him see just how much they loved their brother. He could see it in the way they ganged up on Lucifer when he would try to pick on his young cousin, or how they coddled him when he fell off the swing Bobby had set up for them last summer. Being the quiet, sweet boy that he was, it was easy to forget he wasn't truly the 'baby' brother they treated him as.

Jack huffed as he snuggled into his Papa's side. "I never fight, though."

"That's because you're our little angel." Dean cooed, reaching over to pinch the boy's cheek, sending him into a fit of giggles.

"Daddy! Stop it!" The boy's laughing drew the attention of the other children, quickly resulting in a dog pile of squealing pups. Anna and Kevin laughed at their antics, moving to lift the older children off of the others before anyone could get hurt.

"When's Uncle Gabe and Sammich gonna get here?" Claire asked as she helped Jack up and fixed his shorts from where they had ridden up. To Sam's never ending pain, the kids had taken to calling him Sammich as Gabriel always lovingly referred to him. Dean had a feeling his little brother secretly loved the little nickname when it came to his little nieces and nephew saying it.

"Seems like they've been on their honeybee for forever." Mary lamented from where she still lay in the grass.

Castiel chuckled and pulled the young girl into his lap, plucking stray bits of grass from her curls. "Honeymoon. It's only been two weeks, darling. They should be arriving any time now, I believe."

As if on cue, everyone turned their heads as they heard the sound of a carriage pulling up to the front of the house. All of the children shouted with excitement and took off to greet the new arrivals.

Cas was on his feet just as quickly, already reaching down to help Dean to his feet. The omega huffed as he was pulled up, his freehand on his aching back. "Wasn't sure I was ever gonna get up off the ground. I swear I'm bigger this time around. Better not be triplets in here, Alpha, or I ain't gonna spend one more heat with you."

The alpha rubbed his mate's large belly and leaned in so he wouldn't be overhead. "As if you could resist. We both know how much you love to be bred, my Omega."

Dean flushed, partially with embarrassment but mostly with arousal. "Yeah, yeah. Our brothers just got back, probably better give it a few hours before we scare them away with you mounting me in the garden, Cas."

"Gabriel certainly wouldn't mind," Cas smirked.

"What wouldn't I mind?" Gabriel asked, strolling towards them with Sam and the kids in tow.

"If Cas mated with Dean in the garden." Kevin piped up.

"Dean, gross!" Sam made a face.

Dean waddled forward to pull his brother into as much of a hug as his belly allowed. "Miss you, Sammy."

"It's Sam!"

"No, it's Sammich!" Claire corrected both brothers, resulting in the rest of the kids shouting "Sammich!" Repeatedly. The noise drew out Charlie, as well as Jo and her mother who were more than happy to join in on the chanting, sending everyone into fits of laughter.

Castiel wrapped his arm around Dean's shoulders, his scent warm and happy. "Its good to have everyone home."

Dean looked around at everyone around him, friends and family alike. Some days he imagined himself back at the institute, a broken omega with barely anyone in the world who cared about him. Now, surrounded by so much love, he was a whole as he could have ever hoped to be.

Notes:

My keyboard kept crashing as I was writing this, so please let me know if there are any major errors and I will fix them asap :)

Updated Note 9/3/22:

There have been a lot of speculations and accusations of me outright copying TorValen. If there was a lot of overlap, I promise it was not intentional. I had been going through a lot during the time that I wrote this (I later removed a lot of that info from my notes from embarrassment) and TorValen was a comfort read for me during this time. It's entirely possible that it was too fresh on my mind when I wrote this, and that became apparent in my own story. But it truly was not intended, and I'm torn between deleting this out of respect for TorValen's author, and leaving it for the people that enjoyed this and bookmarked it because I know how sad it is to have a work that I've bookmarked deleted.

If I continue to get especially abrasive comments (like one that I did deleted today, though I wish I had left because now I feel like that was a kind of cowardly thing to do) I will most likely end up deleting this fic. I do not handle confrontation well, and dwell on people's words too much.

I know, and I promise you, I did not intentionally copy anyone else's fic. I understand being protective of other writers and wanting to make sure the integrity of their work remains in tact. But I would never set out to rip anyone off and steal their work, and I'm sorry that it appears as if I did. This situation as honestly taken my love for my fic and made it difficult to come back to it. I have another fic that I've been fighting with myself about posting, but I think this has made the decision for me and I will not post any fics again just to be sure since I cannot trust my brain to not write anything too similar to anything else I've read on here. (I swear I'm not being sarcastic, I'm genuinely worried about this) I just don't want this situation to happen again.

Thank you to everyone for understanding. Despite any of this, I'm glad I've given some of you some entertainment with my fic. I truly do appreciate everyone here.
