Chapter Text
After about a year and a half of planning, it was time for the biggest event in Midoriya's life. Even larger than his first comic release by All Might's side, and even larger than his own comic release where he proposed to Todoroki. There were many hours put into organizing, sending out invitations, picking out suits, and deciding on a venue and finally, the time for his wedding has come.
At this current moment, Midoriya and Todoroki had grown so much from the people that they used to be, especially in these last few months. For the first time since he was thirteen, Midoriya got to a point where he could be off of his medication. It was a very long, tumultuous process with tons of horrible withdrawal symptoms; but with Todoroki and his therapist being by his side it made everything easier to deal with no matter how bad it got. Todoroki spent a week with his sister upstate, where he met her husband and saw life outside the city for the first time. Todoroki, his siblings, and Midoriya were all planning on a place to go together, someplace they've never been before. It would be nice to take a vacation so they could all escape their daily lives just for a little bit.
Life at the company couldn't be better. Everyone at the company was overjoyed to hear about the wedding, every single one of them planning to attend. They were, after all, him and Todoroki's second family. Midoriya was currently making progress on his next release, something that he entirely wanted to dedicate to All Might. It is all thanks to him that he is where he is today, after all. All Might was the catalyst to what seemed to be a better him, and a better life. Izuku had so much to thank him for. The time spent in the company building sometimes exceeded the times they were at the apartment, but Izuku wouldn't trade that life for the world. He felt so lucky to be able to be in the position he was in with so many people around that support him, and accepts who he is.
The thought of All Might left a small pain in Midoriya's heart. Even though it had been a while the wound of losing him was still very, very fresh. He really wished that All Might could be there, a wide grin on his face, as he watched Midoriya walk down the aisle. Not only that, but Midoriya also wished that he could see how happy he has become. The person he is now is so much different from when they met. At that time, Izuku was just a lost boy. Now it's like he has been found.
Standing in front of a mirror, Izuku fidgeted with his bowtie. Usually that was something Todoroki would do for him, but they both agreed that the next time they would meet today would be at the altar. They had gone out for their suits separately after all, so it would be a surprise on the wedding day; but Midoriya knew that Todoroki would always be beautiful in his eyes, no matter what he was wearing. Wedding or no wedding, he completely adored this person. He couldn't wait to see him once again.
"Are you ready Midoriya?" Kirishima's voice came out of nowhere as he peeked his head into the door. In the weeks prior, Midoriya had asked him to be his best man. He of course accepted.
"Yeah Kirishima, I think I am." Midoriya gave him a wide grin.
Once he exited his room, his mom came into view. When planning, he knew that she was the only one that he wanted to guide him down the aisle. This week was the first time in a while that he was able to spend so much time with her, which was well needed. Not to mention, it was always nice to take time and catch up. It made him miss having her around all the time. After all, she was always his biggest support. Whenever he needed her, she was there. Even on his lowest days, she stood by him. His mom kept him going despite how horrible he may have been feeling and she was there when nobody else was. That's something that Midoriya will never forget. There was nothing that he could possibly do to repay her for how much she had already done for him.
"Hey, mom." Midoriya mentioned softly. His mom was standing at the door to the sanctuary, and if you didn't know it was his wedding it would seem like she was the one who was getting married. But this was his typical mom, always nervous, always emotional. He never thought his wedding day would come in general but this is how he knew she would be, ever since he told her about the engagement. Izuku loves his mom, quirks and all. It means the world to him that she agreed to walk him to the altar on this special day.
"My little boy." His mom breathed out, fresh tears in her eyes as he approached her in his suit. Once he reached her, she stood on her toes as she straightened his bowtie. "I guess I can't call you my little boy anymore, huh? Look at you, you're all grown up."
Midoriya chuckled, pulling her into a hug, tears welling up in his own eyes. "No, no that's not true, remember? You said it yourself. I'll always be your little boy."
With a laugh Inko pulled away, looking him in the eyes with her typical ear to ear grin. "Are you ready Izuku? You don't want to keep him waiting."
"As ready as I'll ever be."
Useless. Miserable. Worthless. Hopeless.
For years this is all Midoriya convinced himself that he was. But now as he's walking down the aisle he feels something different.
Useful. Content. Valuable. Hopeful.
Whether the other knew it or not, this whole journey started with Todoroki. This beautiful stranger who he once noticed in a coffee shop; the same one who he was convinced would never turn his way, the same one who had Midoriya thinking that he could never ever make an impact in this stranger's life. It seemed like forever ago they were practically alone in their lives, and now, Midoriya couldn't imagine his life without Todoroki in it. They were two halves of a whole, and one was rarely seen without the other. When they were apart, things just didn't quite feel the same. Years ago Midoriya would not be able to tell you what love feels like, but this might be it.
He glanced around the sanctuary. They decided on a small, traditional wedding, so there wasn't an excessive amount of people there due to their lack of socializing outside of their comfort zone. In the pews sat his friends and coworkers, all of them beaming with pride. Thirteen, Nezu, Aizawa and Mic were the only four that was able to come from the company, which seemed appropriate to Midoriya because they were the people that he was first introduced to at the beginning of this journey. They also stayed with him through everything, giving him a promotion, supporting him during hard times, and Midoriya couldn't be happier to have them here.
In the pew ahead of the company members were his friends. There were even some tears in Kirishima's eyes even though the ceremony hasn't truly started yet. Tsuyu, Iida, Uraraka, and even Bakugou were seated beside him. It meant the world to Midoriya that they were all here and accepted him for who he was. Even Bakugou really came around, and though Midoriya still has a bit of residue trauma he was able to see him now for the person who he became. Izuku had to admit, it's not easy to work on your flaws, and he was very proud of Kacchan for being able to overcome them. After all, no one is perfect. Midoriya knows that very well.
Toya, Fuyumi, and Natsuo were present as well, their eyes straight ahead to the altar. Of course, all of their attention was on their little brother. By getting in contact with the hospital, they were able to organize for Rei to come out and join them. She was not as emotional as Midoriya's mom, but she was looking at her son with such admiration. Midoriya was going to have to give all of his thanks to the hospital for letting her be there for this special moment. When they found out that she would be able to come, Todoroki cried with all the joy in the world. Since she wasn't able to be there when they got engaged, it was very important that she could be present today.
He followed their gaze to the altar. Standing there, Todoroki looked like an ethereal being; if Midoriya hadn't been living with him for months, he would probably have a hard time believing that he was even real; sometimes Midoriya was convinced that he was an angel in disguise. In his white suit, Todoroki was glowing. The more steps Midoriya was taking, the more he just wanted to run up there into his arms and to feel his warm embrace. But that can happen after the ceremony. Now, they were standing there, face to face at the altar.
"You look stunning." Todoroki breathed out, his face in complete awe. Moments like this are what Midoriya treasures, as the other doesn't often show such large amounts of emotion.
"I could say the same to you." Midoriya responded, grinning from ear to ear, reaching out to clasp his fiancé's hands with his own. Once their hands were joined, the priest gave some opening statements and thanked everyone for coming.
Anything after the opening statements just kind of sped by. If he was to be honest, most of the time Midoriya was completely lost in Todoroki's eyes. From the looks of it, the same could be said for Todoroki as well. Even when it was their turn to speak, both of them would not take their eyes off of each other. This was the start of their life together, and they were going to savor every glance that they could get. The moment they were living right now, this memory, will be engraved in their minds forever.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
Everything in that bible verse has rung true in this life that they had lived together. There was patience, compromise, and when conflict arose they always made sure to work it out together. Time and time again, they have protected each other. No matter how hard the struggles may have been there was always a light at the end of the tunnel because they were able to work it out. Neither of them stood alone, Todoroki and Midoriya both knew that. As they stood there, hands clasped, warmth spreading throughout their bodies, it just reaffirmed that fact. In the midst of all the comfort the two of them were feeling, it was finally time for them to give their vows.
"Izuku, do you take Shoto to be your wedded husband to live together in marriage? Do you promise to love him, comfort him, honor and keep him for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and health and forsaking all others, be faithful only to him so long as you both shall live?"
Midoriya glanced into Todoroki's eyes. For better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and health, to love and comfort until the day he dies. Shoto Todoroki. His rock, his confidant, his best friend. The love of his life. He didn't even have to think twice before giving his answer. "I do."
Holding the rings in their hands, Todoroki and Midoriya were desperate to get this ceremony over with to be officially united together for the rest of their lives.
"On this day, I marry my best friend. The one who shares my life, my love and my dreams. Izuku, I give you this ring, as a symbol of my love and devotion. I offer you my heart, my hand, and my love. I join my life with yours, to cherish and protect you as my husband. With all that I am… With all that I have… I honor you as my partner forevermore." Todoroki's hands gently grabbed lifted Midoriya's, slipping the ring onto his ring finger.
"On this day, I marry my best friend. The one who shares my life, my love and my dreams. Shoto, I give you this ring, as a symbol of my love and devotion. I offer you my heart, my hand, and my love. I join my life with yours, to cherish and protect you as my husband. With all that I am… With all that I have… I honor you as my partner forevermore."
He didn't even have to wait for the priest to tell him. Midoriya was waiting for this moment since the whole wedding began.
Izuku leaned up to press his lips passionately against Todoroki's.
At that moment their lips touched, he felt like the luckiest man on the Earth.
