Chapter Text
Saturday. Sweet, sweet Saturday. Usually sweet just because it's the beginning of the weekend. No last minute Monday worries that you always leave until Sunday – just Saturday in its unadulterated carefree glory.
Midoriya woke up, his eyes instantly wide and glistening with a wacky grin on his face. He'd organised to meet up with Todoroki a few days ago. They were just going to meet up at the park then go to a small pub for a while, then go to Todoroki's house to play a few games. It would be a relaxing and casual day but Midoriya was still slightly nervous above all the excitement.
Though Todoroki had told him not to worry about Endeavour, Midoriya was still terrified. Meeting Endeavour, the number two hero, would be one of the coolest things ever but he didn't have a reputation for being pleasant.
As Todoroki said, Endeavour wouldn't care that they were dating.
So, with a sigh, Midoriya went back to smiling as he jumped out of bed, quickly showered, dressed, ate.
“Well, you look excited today Izuku.”
“Yeah, I'm just meeting with Todoroki on our first date-” Midoriya put his hand over his mouth, turning red, but the damage was done when his mother started grinning.
“N-not a d-date, it's just a friendly meet up okay? Just meeting up, a-and-”
“Oh Izuku calm down, I already know you're dating, unless Todoroki was joking?”
“N... No, he wasn't joking.”
Of course, Midoriya set off early to make sure he'd arrive early. Very early.
Unsurprisingly, the park was empty when Midoriya arrived. He was almost an hour early though. He plopped down on a table with his hands by his side, legs swinging and looked up into the sky.
A few minutes later he realised he'd got up a little early, and hadn't exactly slept well the night before. It was his first date! For the longest time, he'd been terrified of even being near a girl, then suddenly, bam, Todoroki.
He laid his face down on the table in front of him, leaning on his arms. Maybe he'd just rest his eyes for a moment.
In the time Todoroki had known Midoriya, the boy had humiliated himself more than anyone else had in their whole life. Despite this, Todoroki was still slightly surprised when Midoriya had fallen asleep where they were supposed to meet up. For a short while, he stood leaning against a nearby tree wondering if it was worth doing something horrible to wake Midoriya up.
But he couldn't find it in his heart: Midoriya was too much of a fluffy bean to further humiliate – he did enough of that to himself.
Instead, he decided to sit beside Midoriya on the table. Midoriya was leaning his head on his arms and facing to his right, so Todoroki mirrored him such that their faces were inches apart. Todoroki smirked, resisting the urge to maybe freeze something and instead started tapping Midoriya.
Maybe just a tiny bit of ice – Todoroki's thoughts were interrupted when he found out that Midoriya was not a very light sleeper. After the second tap, his eyes darted wide open and he gasped, seeing Todoroki so close to himself and instantly sat bolt upright and fell off the bench backwards, once again finding Todoroki catch him.
Midoriya glanced up and Todoroki, one eye open and disoriented. Midoriya was red again though, despite how normal this had become. He'd humiliated himself twice today and he hadn't even talked to Todoroki yet.
Todoroki chuckled.
“Been here for a while?”
“W-well, I arrived slightly early, just in case I was late.”
“How early? You'd fallen asleep while waiting for me and I was more than a quarter of an hour early.” Todoroki continued with a chuckle.
When Midoriya looked down to the ground after sitting up, Todoroki looked around them.
“This park is actually a really nice place. It's really cool they have places like this in a middle of the city, and it's survived all the villain attacks.”
“Y-yeah...”
“Yo Midoriya, don't get me wrong, it's adorable when you blush,” Todoroki began and laughed when that alone made the bean child start to blush again. “But are you actually blushed 100% of your time? Isn't it bad for your health?”
“I guess that happens a lot huh... Sorry-”
“Nah, it's adorable. Hey, are you too hot or something?”
“No, if anything it's a bit chilly-”
Midoriya was cut off as Todoroki moved a bit closer and put his arm over the boy's shoulder.
“We don't have to stay in the park if you're cold,” Todoroki said before he was taken aback as Midoriya leaned into him, moving to sit on his lap.
Todoroki actually started blushing.
Desperate for Midoriya not to notice, Todoroki thought back to when he'd messed Midoriya round on his first day with the lemon water. Thinking about being sat down casually, Midoriya in the adorable restaurant uniform with his shoulders hunched and his arms in front of his chest all blushing, why Todoroki had spent so much time talking to the guy. Thinking about how his composed expression had broken down into hideous blushing that his siblings bullied him for whenever Midoriya wasn't around – not helping!
Truth be told, Todoroki definitely liked Midoriya a lot. It was a mystery how he'd managed to not break out into a blushy mess like Midoriya. With Midoriya shuffling to press himself further into Todoroki's lap and a cold wind started to pick up, he tensed his jaw and looked to the horizon, filled with determination, as he leaned over the boy and wrapped him up in his arms.
As Midoriya didn't say a word, helplessly blushing himself and fortunately not noticing Todoroki doing the same, Todoroki eventually spoke.
“We just gonna stay here?”
“Midoriya, y-you alive in there?”
“Yeah.” He said simply before burying the side of his head in Todoroki's chest and wrapping his arms around his torso.
He breathed out, feeling Midoriya's warmth and starting to blush more intensely.
Todoroki's eyes thinned, still trying to maintain his composure. Surely not. Surely Midoriya didn't know... Maybe, just maybe...
Todoroki's eyes widened, noticing Midoriya's grin.
This... This was Midoriya's revenge for all the times Todoroki had messed him around in the restaurant. For all the times Todoroki had made his work so much more fun but embarrassing him at the same time, Midoriya was doing the exact same to Todoroki.
“Midoriya literally one minute ago you were a helpless blushing mess, h-how did you uncover my own weakness...”
“Hmm? What could you possibly mean?” Midoriya asked, looking up to Todoroki's eyes, their faces almost touching.
Todoroki leaned back with a start, almost falling off the bench. What a dramatic role-reversal.
“I literally just hugged you,” Midoriya began, “and the moment I saw you blush I knew you were human too so I pressed my attack,” he said with an innocent grin.
Todoroki sighed, responding only by bopping Midoriya on the head as he didn't know what else to do and the two stayed like they were, hugging each other tighter in another gust of wind.
“I wouldn't mind just staying here,” Midoriya whispered. Todoroki chuckled.
“But my family will be so eager to meet you, I've told them so much about y-”
“What?!” Midoriya shouted, jolting.
“That was a joke.”
Midoriya sighed and started blushing again.
“There we go, just because you saw me blush doesn't mean you're not the one who's constantly blushing.”
“My mum's going to riddle me with questions when I get home,” Midoriya began. “She'll ask how was it, what did you do? And I'll say I went to the park... And just kinda sat there...”
“Is that a problem?”
“Not really, I'd just like to see your place sometime.”
“Sure, let's go.” Todoroki began to readjust his body to stand up but couldn't move. He looked down to find Midoriya holding onto him and the table, still not wanting to move from their comfortable position.
“Midoriya we're not going to be able to move if you're attaching me to the table.”
“Mph~” The boy vaguely grunted in response, burying himself in Todoroki's chest again.
“Dear diary,” Midoriya heard Todoroki begin. “This is where I die. I am stuck to this table in the middle of a park. The average human cannot survive for more than three days without water but if I'm lucky it will rain and I can drink that. If it consistently rains I will die of malnutrition... Unless... Unless I become a cannibal and eat the body anchoring me to this table-”
Midoriya raised his head to look up at Todoroki, looking dazed and half asleep with his hair a mess.
“You wouldn't do that would you?” He asked innocently. Todoroki chuckled.
“I don't know about eating you but you might eat me-”
“W-What?!” Midoriya stuttered, losing his focus and letting go and Todoroki took the opportunity to stand up.
“Dang,” Midoriya muttered, admitting to defeat as he stood up.
“Look we can hug more when we get home okay?” Todoroki suggested with a laugh.
“Promise?” Midoriya looked up to him with puppy-dog eyes.
Todoroki sighed, trying not to blush again.
“Y-yeah, promise.”
“Well, let's go!” Midoriya continued, taking Todoroki's hand energetically.
“What's got you excited? Was it when I suggested you eat me-”
“N-no! It's just that I... Wanna keep... Hugging...” Midoriya muttered, facing the ground with a blush.
“As good a reason as any.” Todoroki answered, making his way towards his house, holding Midoriya's hand.
“Who's this? A friend from school?” A young woman asked when the two entered Todoroki's house.
“Boyfriend.” Todoroki answered casually, walking past her, still holding Midoriya's hand. Both she and Midoriya were left wide-eyed in surprise as they both awkwardly waved to one another.
“That's my sister Fuyumi.”
“My father is usually somewhere in that part of the house so steer clear of there,” Todoroki muttered, while gesturing towards a corridor. “And that's pretty much the whole house.”
“But you only told me one thing-”
“That's all you need to know.”
“Oh...” Midoriya stared at the ground, puzzled.
“So,” Todoroki began, “how do you get to my room from here?”
“Wha – you didn't – you just told me that – I...” Midoriya stuttered, clueless.
“Why are you so fun to mess around?”
“S-sorry?”
“Na, it's really not the same unless you're in your uniform. Y'know, you're pretty much the only reason I keep coming back to that place.” Todoroki said as the two sat down on his bed.
“Yeah, I figured, since all you ever order is water and lemons. The people in the kitchens are calling you the citrus slayer.”
“The cit – what?” Todoroki asked with a laugh.
“Because you only order lemons, and... Because... Well you keep turning up and... Talking to me and...”
“I get it.” Todoroki said with a smirk. “My reputation proceeds me. Do they not mind that so much of your time gets wasted by me?”
“Oh, it's not a waste! I love it, despite how terrified I feel during it-”
“Really?” Todoroki asked after Midoriya stopped himself with a blush. “Well doesn't management see it as a waste of time? You're not serving anyone else. Not that you can serve anyone apart from me.” He finished with a wink.
“Wha – To – I – c-can you let me answer the question please?” Midoriya mumbled.
“Sorry, I just get carried away.”
“You're usually only around for a small part of my shift, and during that time there are other people doing my job, so it's okay.”
“No one else can replace you.” Todoroki whispered, snaking behind Midoriya and grabbing onto him.
“Th-thanks...” Midoriya whispered, desperately red. “S-so, I noticed that you and your sister are predominantly white with red decals, and you mentioned having an ice quirk but nothing to do with fire... Is that your mother's quirk? Did Endeavour's fire not get passed on as dominantly as hers?”
Todoroki sighed.
“No, we just reject it. He's an awful dad and I hate his quirk. I don't want it to be a part of me,” he spat, raising his right hand as a set of intricate ice spiral patterns formed around it. “So I practise using my ice quirk.”
“You have two quirks?”
“I don't know, I just inherited something from my parents that lets me do two things. Not that I ever use one of them. So, what about you? Do you have a quirk?”
“Ehm, no... But I've come to terms with that.”
“And that makes you even more adorable,” Todoroki said, ruffling Midoriya's hair.
After hours of video games, snacking and awkward affection and contact, the two were interrupted.
“Hey Todoroki, can I-” A man with white spiky hair asked, poking his head through the door before stopping dead in his tracks seeing Midoriya.
“Can you?” Todoroki prompted him.
“Eh, I see you're busy-”
“Don't mind us. This is my boyfriend. Midoriya, that's my brother Natsuo.”
As he said that, Natsuo's eyes widened too, just like his sister.
“I never knew-”
“Never mentioned it.” Todoroki monotoned, Midoriya awkwardly smiling and waving through his blush.
“Uh, good for you bro.” He said with confusion, disappearing.
“Is that how you're going to introduce me to everyone?” Midoriya asked.
“Might as well,” Todoroki said with a yawn. “Darn, it's getting late. Want a lift home?”
“Oh eh, I don't want to trouble anyone, especially someone who doesn't even know-”
“It's nothing.” Todoroki said, standing up. “You can ride my bike with me,” he said, resisting the temptation to fluster Midoriya by replacing the word bike with something else.
“R-ride your bike with you?” Midoriya asked, stepping outside.
“Yeah,” Todoroki said, sitting on the center bar of his bike. “Get on,” his said, gesturing to the seat.
After a long day, the sky was beginning to darken. Todoroki had dropped Midoriya off and dropped the Love you bomb, to which Midoriya had, needless to say, turned red, before repeating it back to Todoroki with much hesitation. After Todoroki left, Midoriya was stood staring at where he'd gone awkwardly in the dark where it had started to rain, when his mum had turned up, calling him such a romantic. Of course, he only turned redder at that.
Midoriya's mum instantly riddled him with questions, asking what he did. He ended up saying he went to the park... And just kinda sat there, before going into more detail about Todoroki and his house and family.
After school on Monday, Midoriya was buzzing with excitement. He couldn't wait to go back to work.
