Work Text:
Jungkook hated it when Taehyung was angry.
Jungkook hated it even more when he knew he was the asshole that had upsetted his boyfriend.
The whole afternoon, since the moment they came back from their walk through Rio's downtown yelling at each other, Taehyung had been avoiding him completely, from almost not talking to him (he only talked when it was totally necessary 'cause there were cameras around) to straight up dodging him if he tried to touch his shoulder/leg/waist/hair and he had even freaking flinched when Jungkook touched his hand not-so-accidentally, so it's safe to say that Jungkook didn't have a great time all those hours. He tried to talk, but with every try came Taehyung's death glare (and he knows it damn well - it's the definition of deathly), he tried to get his boyfriend alone while the others did their stuff around the house but obviously Jimin did his best at his job of being Taehyung's tiny bodyguard, so he couldn't get to him.
It'd been a pretty much frustrating afternoon, really: since before they started dating, even better, since before they even started being a thing, messing with each other and stuff, Jungkook had gotten used to having Taehyung being around him, quite literally hanging off him, clinging to his arms or his shoulders, it sometimes even felt as if Taehyung was an extension of his own body, so it was really uncomfortable for him to walk around for more than four hours without having that added weight (that he didn't mind at all - most of the times, at least) on him. Not to mention the fact that he spent all day without Taehyung touching his chin not even once... he didn't even remember the last time he went a whole day like that and he didn't want to be reminded of how it felt, so he really wished to fix things up once and for all before the day ended, so they could call it a night cuddling close together with Taehyung caressing his hair and him holding Tae's hand - because yes, he was soft this late at night with Taehyung, he loved being like that now that he could, now that he didn't have to pretend that he was bothered by Tae sneaking into his bed at the ass crack of down.
But oh well, this time it'd have to be different since he was the one sneaking into the other's room.
Well, more than sneaking there, he ran into the room, trying to not be caught by Jimin, hearing the older boy warning him in whispers about how Tae didn't want to talk to him and how he should leave him alone and all shit like that that Jungkook frankly didn't care, he just wanted to say sorry and kiss his boyfriend goodnight, so the next day they would be ok again and Tae would be touching his chin and clinging to him all day, just like usual.
Also, he hated they fought because it woke up this strange feeling in his chest, like something could go terribly wrong if they kept it like that; he'd mentioned it lots of times to Tae and the older's answer was always the same "it's life telling you we belong together", "it's fate, my friend", "it means you should stop being pissed at me 'cause your liver could explode" and other stuff like that... Jungkook, even if he refused to admit it out loud, had actually started to believe Taehyung was kinda right, and that that sick feeling he had whenever they fought was his mind telling him that they weren't meant to be like that.
So, yes, Jungkook believed they were meant to be together and not angry at each other -even if he couldn't quite remember if he heard bells or not when he met Taehyung, he decided to ignore that, just because he loved Tae enough for that to not matter-, and he wasn't sure why he thought about it while he went to open the door, but he guessed it had something to do with his undying fear of losing his hyung... maybe. Just maybe.
He knew he shouldn't be afraid though since nothing extremely bad had happened, they just had a tiny argument over the same things they always fought about (him being jealous and Tae being careless), but still, it was never good to go to bed without solving their shit.
Jungkook shook his head to get all those annoying thoughts out of his mind and finally entered the room, trying not to make a lot of noise, but since he was running away from Jimin, in a complete rush, he opened the door with a loud slam. To make it better, though, he closed it behind himself with a little, soundless click.
He stood there in front of the door, looking at Taehyung's bed, waiting to see if he was gonna turn around to yell at him or something, but the older boy didn't move not even a little bit and didn't talk either. Jungkook would've guessed he was asleep then, but Jimin had told him just a minute ago that Tae was still awake, so he threw that option away and walked over to the bed.
Maybe he thought he was Jimin since the logic would say that, 'cause it was his room and he had just gotten out to get some water.
"Hey," he said shyly, almost in a whisper, standing next to the bed. He saw how Taehyung's body barely moved when he breathed, but his hyung was still turning his back to him "It's me" he spoke again, as sweetly as he could. Since Taehyung still refused to face him, he walked over to the other side of the bed.
Then he could finally see the elder's frustrated expression, his brown eyes shining with hostility - was that even possible? could eyes actually shine with hostility? Maybe Taehyung's eyes were always shining, he didn't know and didn't have time to think about that at the moment, he had more important stuff to solve. Taehyung rolled those shiny eyes so far back in his head that Jungkook was sure he could see his own brain; then he turned around to be facing the door and turning his back to the maknae... again.
"I know it's you," the elder said like it was obvious, his deep voice reflecting his annoyed state "your breathing is so loud, it sounds like you have something trapped in your lungs everytime" he stated.
Jungkook knew he should feel offended, but at least Taehyung was talking to him now, something that had barely happened since they fought and, like said before, the few times Tae spoke to him happened because they were being filmed and Bang PD had made them do a pact way back then when they were still figuring things out, a pact about not making it too obvious for the cameras when they weren't in good terms (a pact that, even though they tried hard, was usually broken, 'cause it happened to not be that easy to hide their feelings sometimes). So he kind of felt like it'd been ages since their last communication that didn't involve arguing, so he was more relieved than annoyed at the comment, at the fact that Tae was finally speaking.
He chuckled and lifted the dark blanket that was covering Taehyung, ready to get in the bed with him.
"I was running" he explained, clearing his throat, trying not to breathe too loudly.
Taehyung didn't answer to that, didn't ask why he was running or anything, so Jungkook hesitated about his actions for a second; so he stood there with the end of the blanket in his hand and doubts about if Tae would want him to join or not, 'cause if there was one thing (in the middle of a million other things) that he knew about Kim Taehyung was that if the guy was truly pissed (like, ready to chop your dick off kinda pissed) then he wouldn't talk, look or even breath in your direction; but if he was only upset (the kind of upset that could be solved with cuddles and pillow-talk) then he'd at least give a little signal, like not telling him to put the blanket down.
It was a tiny tiny signal and he was trying to read it.
"What are you doing here?" Taehyung asked him, still sounding irritated but soft at the same time, while Jungkook still considered what he should do.
"Jimin asked me to switch rooms because he wanted to have a moment with Yoongi hyung or something like that..." Jungkook lied, knowing that Tae knew that that wasn't true at all, since all poor Jimin wanted was a glass of water but ended up being kicked out of his own room, exiled to the only room where he didn't want to be in - though Jungkook was sure he was gonna thank him for it later, 'cause what could possibly go wrong?
Taehyung didn't deny what he said, so Jungkook thought it was his opportunity and finally got in the bed, sitting under the blanket and arranging it so he wouldn't be stealing much of it away from Tae.
He felt the elder shifting next to him.
"And what are you doing in my bed?" he asked, more irritated than before, sitting up, rearranging the blanket so it only covered him, which was a really unnecessary move, since it was a really hot night in Brazil and in the room in general, he didn't need to cover himself at all "There's another one right there, go use it" the singer suggested, pointing at Jimin's bed that was all made up since Jimin hadn't even lied there probably.
Jungkook swallowed the tiny tiny tiny bit of jealousy that he got in his stomach when he thought that Tae and Jimin were surely cuddling just minutes ago on that bed, talking about their problems while right now Taehyung didn't even want to look at him - he was way past that, he knew there was nothing to be jealous about, obviously, but it still got to him sometimes, mostly when he and Tae were fighting.
He slapped himself mentally and talked again:
"Sorry, force of habit"
"Ok"
Still, he didn't make a move to leave the bed, as Taehyung shifted back to his former position, looking at the door and not facing him. Jungkook was still sitting next to him, his back against the bed's headboard, looking down at his upset boyfriend.
"You're still on the bed" he heard Taehyung complaining, pulling at the blanket even more, probably hugging it against his chest.
"I know," Jungkook said, lowering himself in the bed to be lying next to the boy, doing his best not to touch him, just in case Tae kicked him out of the bed or something of that kind.
They went silent for a couple of minutes, Jungkook contemplating how to excuse himself for his shitty behavior of that afternoon, meanwhile, Taehyung kept pulling from the blanket until it was completely off of the younger's reach and moved around to be folded in it like a burrito. I get it, Jungkook thought, not gonna touch you.
It was so weird because ever since they were two fetuses they'd been sharing a bed, be it leaving a big space between them at first (like, the very first seconds before Taehyung tangled his whole body with Jungkook's while the younger just tried to sleep), or staring at each other for what felt like hours once they started to really realize what kinda feelings they had for the other; or simply cuddling and whispering dumb words to one another until they fell asleep (what most of their nights -after doing other stuff, obviously- consisted of). So, again, it was weird and stupid to be silent together in a bed, not touching each other and also being mad. Jungkook didn't like it and he hoped Taehyung didn't like it either.
It wasn't like it was their first fight, clearly, they had lots of fights, some much bigger than this one, but Jungkook couldn't help but worry if Taehyung didn't even want to face him or have him close.
Jungkook wasn't about to let it keep on being awkward, so he did what he felt like doing at the moment, and it was placing his chin on Tae's shoulder and back-hugging him as Taehyung would usually do if he wasn't mad. Jungkook didn't know how Tae was gonna react, he could easily bite his ear in a not sexy at all way or shove him aside, but, to his delight, Taehyung just sighed and buried his head in the pillow, like trying not to give in to the closeness.
"Jimin didn't want to switch rooms, did he?" Taehyung asked him, voice even deeper than before because that's how he sounded when he was being serious.
"Kinda" Jungkook answered, trying to match Taehyung's serious tone but not being able to do it because a creeping on his lips - he was just happy 'cause, even if Tae wasn't responding to his cuddles (like trying to hold his hand in his chest or unfolding himself off the blanket), he wasn't pushing him away either. That was good news.
"What you mean 'kinda'?" Taehyung shifted just a little under Jungkook's embrace.
"Well, I was the one who wanted to switch rooms," he said and, to he's surprise, Taehyung actually turned his head around a little to give him a disaproving look. Their faces were close for a second before the elder looked back at the door "But I asked him first... and he didn't say no" that was a lie too, but Taehyung didn't need to know that for now, just that he was there to talk and make up, maybe kiss a little, maybe a little more, whatever Taehyung wanted, he was there for it, so it shouldn't matter what happened outside of the room, it was totally off the subject. But Taehyung was giving him that disaproving look again and shit, he couldn't lie to that, it'd just be cruel "Ok, he asked me not to do it but I ran and locked the door"
He confessed, putting on an innocent smile at the end, trying to buy Taehyung into not getting angry at him for that too. It obviously didn't work, like it hadn't worked all day.
"But I can swear he didn't chase me" he continued apologizing, as if this was the important matter - it was not, dammit, Jungkook wanted to talk the real talk already and be happy together again ('cause if he had choose a nice thing about their fights, he'd definitely pick their make ups "and if he really cared, he would've tackled me to the ground or something right?" he asked, not really expecting Taehyung to answer, but being surprised again by an actual response:
"He should've done that, though" he said, and Jungkook could swear he saw the tiniest bit of a smile on the corner of his boyfriend's pretty lips.
Silence again.
Great.
Putting a lot of thought on the matter, Jungkook could recognize that he was an idiot for getting mad in the first place: all Taehyung had done was being friendly with people, like he always was, it's a feature of Taehyung's beautiful personality to be a social butterfly, to get people to love him almost immediately and to have everyone staring after him when he does whatever he wants to do, because he's precious and a guy to love - at least that's what Jungkook's been thinking of his hyung since they met; with the years Jungkook had learnt that he'd always have to kind of share his best friend with everyone because people had the tendency of falling in love with him, at least for a few moments, and ok, he learnt to live with it 'cause he matured and also fell in love with him, in the realest way possible, but it still got to him sometimes.
But it got to him even more when he knew that Taehyung did it on purpose -and yes, he could differentiate when it was on purpose from when he was just being nice with people. When Taehyung did it on purpose like that same day some hour ago in the downtown.
Taehyung didn't make him jealous on purpose often, because that would be the unhealthiest relationship possible and they weren't like that (not anymore, at least, but that's a story for another time), but when he did, like that day, it was because Jungkook had just been a jerk to him and he felt like giving him payback.
This especific time, Jungkook knew in what he had been a jerk and could admit that he deserved that Taehyung tried to make him mad, and that's why he was angry at himself for actually getting pissed off about the matter; he knew Taehyung didn't mean anything of what he was doing, the singer was just asking for a directions to a girl, moving his eyes a lot and being maybe too close to her, but Jungkook should've known at the moment that it was just a wake up call for himself to not be an asshole.
What had happened before that? Well, to put it simply, Jungkook was talking to Hoseok and Namjoon about his fear for microwaves when he felt Taehyung trying to aproach his sides, to put his arm around Jungkook's waist or one of those many things Taehyung did all day everyday since they met; but at the moment Jungkook was feeling too hot ('cause Rio is hot as fuck) and also he was in the middle of a conversation, so he just touched Tae's hand a little and whispered to him that there was a camera (he didn't even realized that maybe Taehyung just wanted to tell him something important, he just turned him down); he didn't even looked back to see if Taehyung was pouting, 'cause he knew he was, and kept walking and talking.
Then came the girl, looking all pretty, followed by a bunch of other pretty girls; they were talking and giggling and, even though they had noticed the five of them standing there, they didn't scream 'it's BTS!' or anything like that, so they all guessed they didn't know who they were. Hoseok was talking about that when suddenly, Jungkook saw Taehyung aproaching the girl, giving her one of his famous smirks and then breaking into a not so bad english that Jungkook didn't even know where it came from. Taehyung was just asking her how to get to one point in the map he had in his hands, but the girl was grinning like he had just find El Dorado or something, and it made Jungkook nervous - she got closer to Tae, held his hand and moved it across the map to indicate. At that point, the maknae could already admit that what he felt was jealousy (he spent four damn years being jealous so he knew how it was), but he knew there was nothing to fear, Tae didn't know the girl and they were about to walk off and forget about her completely... but then, the bitch girl started to actually talk to Taehyung and Jungkook felt his own hands turning into fists as Hobi whispered to him.
"My bets are that she'll give him her number," the dancer told Jungkook in that moment, like Jungkook needed more reasons to hate the unknown girl.
Why was he hating on an unknown girl? Yes, maybe she was still holding Tae's hand on the map and giving him puppy eyes, but she was still a no one and Taehyung was still Tae, he wasn't gonna do anything more than indirectly flirting and gifting to many smiles. There was no reason for him to be pissed at anyone, he was being an idiot.
"Haha, so funny" he answered Hoseok, trying to loosen up a little.
But then, the girl did wrote her number in Taehyung's map and damn he was not ready to feel that angry at that moment. Hoseok patted his back and Jungkook did his best not to shove him off, because he was his hyung and that would be disrespectful. He bit his lip and shared a quick look with Taehyung, expecting the older to give him an apologetic look or something, like he always did when things like that happened to him (again, people falling for Tae was part of their daily life), but Tae just smirked and looked back to the girl, gave her the biggest (and fake as hell - Jungkook could tell) smile ever and said something to her in a volume so low that none of them could hear them. That worried Jungkook, obviously. But he didn't do anything, just moved closer to Seokjin so he wouldn't hear if Hobi did another one of his "funny" comments.
That's how, when a few moments later they were walking again and Tae tried to aproach him, again, putting an arm around Jungkook's shoulder, the younger shoved him off in the meanest way possible.
And it only took a few moments for the maknae to realize that he was an idiot. And that Taehyung was an idiot too.
His boyfriend wasn't pouting but frowning, looking at him in disbelief.
"What, now you're angry?" Taehyung had asked him then, not caring about the others and stopping on his tracks.
"Are you surpised?"
"Unbelievable"
And that's how they ended up arguing in the middle of the street, whisper-yelling loud enough for the others to try to calm them down and send them back to the house. They went silent all their way back, Taehyung sighing louder and louder everytime, until they reached the front door of the house, where Taehyung suddenly decided to talk again:
"If it's about the girl, I'm not gonna call her, Jungkook" he said, serious expression and deep voice on display, scaring Jungkook a little since he always forgot Tae was the hyung until he spoke like that "why are you always reacting like this?"
Jungkook was offended as he tried to unlock the door.
"Well, what do you expect me to do when someone gets their hands on you and then gives you their number?" he asked, raising an eyebrow and realizing that the door wasn't even locked. He was about to open it but decided to keep the talk out there "not to mention that then you went all in secretive with her, obviously I'm g-"
"You're an idiot, you don't even know what I said"
"And I don't wanna know, hyung" the use of that word was more sarcastic in this case, since when they were alone he didn't call him hyung that often, only when they were -just like in that moment- fighting.
"Listen to me for a second" Taehyung said, notably trying not to laugh. That pissed Jungkook even more, because he didn't thought it was a laughable situation, they were arguing, dammit "I told her I had a boyfriend, but whatever, if you wanna be mad, be mad" Taehyung continued, even if Jungkook didn't want to hear him.
"Yeah, so why were you all up on her?" he asked, trying to save himself.
"'All up on her?' What the hell are you talking about?" Taehyung asked him, a little louder, opening the door himself "She showed me which way we needed to go, didn't know that bothered you that much!"
"But you did it on purpose!" at that point Jungkook already knew he'd lost the whole argument, he was just trowing in words because he was still pissed because he knew that Taehyung had let the girl do as she pleased while they talked, even if at the end he said he had a boyfriend and all, he'd done that on purpose because Jungkook wasn't giving him attention. The point was that he was still angry and didn't have much to say more than 'it's your fault'.
"I'm sorry but the only one doing things on purpose was you, Mr. Jeon 'I can't hear you know, Tae because I'm talking about microwaves and being all cool with the hyungs'" Taehyung immitated the way Jungkook had turned him down half an hour ago on the street in a much more exagerated way.
"You're being childish" came Jungkook's answer, slamming the door completely open after Taehyung entered the house and then closed it behind him.
"No" Taehyung told him, turning around to give him an angry look, his voice sounding a pitch higher than normal "you're the only child here"
Jungkook knew it was a stupid fight the moment Taehyung started to walk away from him, towards his and Jimin's room.
"I'm not the one throwing myself at strangers on the street!"
"And I'm not the one still getting angry over the same shit from when I was 19!"
They reached Tae's bedroom door still screming, neither of them caring the fact that Yoongi and Jimin were right there on the living room, probably listening to them argue and judging them because absolutely everyone was used to them snapping at each other everytime they had a chance (again, if you were to ask Jungkook, they mostly did it because they liked to make up, not because they enjoyed fighting or being mad at the other).
"I didn't get angry"
"No, you just casually shoved me off when I tried to give you a hug"
Jungkook face palmed himself because of how unbelievable his boyfriend was being right there. Taehyung was leaning against the frame of his door with an annoyed expression and his arms crossed, like waiting for Jungkook to say something that would solve the matter immediately, like that was even possible - well, thinking back on it now, Jungkook thought that anything he said could've calmed the singer down, since he was indeed a softie; aything but what he ended up saying:
"There was a camera..." he tried to excuse himself, thinking that Taehyung would understand since, well, that was the usual reason why they weren't as close as they'd like.
But apparently not, apparently it had the completely opposite effect on his hyung, because sighed loudly and walked in on the room, saying that he was saying that a lot lately and following it by slamming his door close.
And well, the rest is history: Jungkook walked to the living room, Jimin gave him a disaproving look, Yoongi tried to talk to him but he turned him down; the usual from when they fought. Then they barely spoke and guilt kicked in on Jungkook's gut, he tried to apologize but Taehyung ignored him. And then he crossed paths with Jimin in the kitchen at night, saw his opportunity and sneaked into Taehyung's room.
So, back to right now, Jungkook was still with his arms around Taehyung, resting his chin on the elder's shoulder, while Tae was folded in the blanket like the insides of a burrito, buring his face in the pillow and shifting under Jungkook's embrace. They should've already made up by now, they should've already be sleeping on each other, but all they were doing was being silent and uncomfortable and Jungkook didn't like it at all.
Luckily enough, Taehyung wasn't one to stay quiet for too long, not even when mad.
"Why are you here anyways?" he asked, as if it wasn't obvious in Jungkook's apologetic eyes the fact that he was there to make peace "I'm guessing you had a good reason to throw Jiminie into the wild..."
Jungkook rolled his eyes and pressed his chin a little bit more on Taehyung's shoulder, since he wasn't shoving him off yet. It was too hot to be doing something like this, he could feel himself getting sweatier by the moment, but he didn't care, at least Taehyung's blanket felt a little cold.
"I wanted to apologize" he said, using what his hyung's would call 'cute voice', a voice he didn't need to use with Taehyung often since the elder saw him as a baby almost all of the time. He looked down to see if his boyfriend reacted in some way, but the guy was just looking at the door with a frown, like fighting against an idea in his mind "for today"
"Ah, don't worry about that" Taehyung answered almost immediately, sounding unbothered. He shifted on the blanket again, this time actually trying to get Jungkook off of his shoulder, turning around a little bit more - and that obviously backfired, since now the maknae had even more body to hug "it's ok, I don't care" Tae continued, his body straightening up just a bit when Jungkook's hands found his hip to brought him closer again "I just wanna sleep" he declared, breathing against the pillow.
"Are you still mad?" Jungkook hated his own voice sometimes because of how child-like it would come out at the worst moments possible.
"No, Jungkook, I just said I don't care"
That was such a lie and they both knew it: if Taehyung were to not care about this, he'd already be turned around, probably with a leg across Jungkook's body, leaving kisses on the younger's ear and showing his award winning smile. Since he was still turning his back to Jungkook, barely talking and sighing every two seconds, the only explanation possible was that he was still mad. And the younger could totally understand it, since they hadn't talked it out just yet.
"But you look mad right now" Jungkook said again, always persistent when he needed it. He leaned in a little bit more to get his body to be completely pressed against Taehyung.
"I'm not mad, shut up" Taehyung answered, turnig around in a so sudden movement that Jungkook had to catch himself from falling face first against him; he was now lifting himself to the side by his elbow, trying to give Taehyung that little space so he could talk... well, not exactly - that's what he tried to do up until he remembered that they were in a relationship and he loved Tae's body and he knew that skinship was one of the many ways to his hyung's heart, so he simply moved his elbow and fell against the elder, who complained pretty quickly, trying to get Jungkook off of himself, but failing terribly since Jungkook was as heavy as a rock and Taehyung didn't have enough strenght to do it "Get off of me right now, it's too hot for this" Taehyung whined, slapping Jungkook's thights and shifting under him; it was funny he said that, since he was still wrapped up in the blanket.
Tae was trying to hide it, but there was a playful tone on his voice, an almost smile on his lips.
"Are you calling me hot?" Jungkook asked him; if he wasn't gonna get Tae to forgive him by speaking normally, then he'd get him by cuddling the shit out of him and saying dumb things, like always. Being dumb together was just their thing.
"No, I'm calling you annoying" Tae insisted, shifting even more but only managing to move up a little against the bed's headboard, but not enough to get Jungkook to move, so they were in the most uncomfortable possition ever, with the younger acting like a fool and the elder doing his best not to fall for his charms and bunny teeth "Get off" he insisted, now going for something both Jungkook and him knew that could work to win against the muscle pig that the maknae was: he started tickling the younger.
Before Jungkook could do anything about it, he had Taehyung's hands running to his sides, pinching him, then in his armpits and on his neck, making him lose his shit because he wasn't just a ticklish guy, he was also sensible to anything Taehyung did to his body (sue him but that guy had that kinda power over him, ok?). So now, instead of pining Taehyung against the bed and hugging him until he forgave him, he was falling to the side, trying not to scream and aching on his stomach because of how much he was laughing.
"Ok, ok, I'll stop" he said in a plead, trying to swap Tae's hands away from him.
Once he was settled beside Taehyung, the elder stopped and got back to laying in the bed and not looking at him, this time directing his attention to the ceiling. Jungkook decided to do the same and look at the "constellations" that formed up there with the paitings. The only light iluminating the room at the moment was the one on Taehyung's bedside table, and it gave the room a slightly orange look. Jungkook liked it.
The younger side-looked at the older, from his dark hair down to his hands that were curled together on his chest; he wanted to hold them in his and kiss him, but Tae was playing hard to get.
"What are you looking at?" Taehyung asked then, turning his head a little so their eyes could meet again; Jungkook held his stare for as long as he could, but he gave up after a few seconds, to look back down to Tae's hands again. Then he decided fuck it, I wanna hold his hand, and so he did, reaching out and not finding any fight from the elder. He turned around so he could hold both of Tae's hands in his, and smiled when Taehyung shivered at the touch "Ok, what were you saying about an apology?"
Yes, finally. That's what Jungkook wanted to hear: Taehyung softening.
"I wanted to say I was an idiot today, I'm really sorry" he said, moving his and Taehyung's hands closer to his lips so he could kiss his boyfriends knuckles "I don't know why I was ignoring you, I just- I don't know..."
"It's ok, I was an idiot too" Taehyung admited, doing the same thing Jungkook had done, kissing his knuckles like he hadn't been acting all angry up until then. There was literally not a trace of that former anger neither in his face or in his voice, he was smiling fondly and honestly and Jungkook didn't know what he had done to change his boyfriend's mind so quickly, but he was glad he did "I overreacted, didn't need to upset you"
"Yeah, but I shouldn't get pissed so easily either" Jungkook insisted, squeezing Taehyung's hand and getting closer to the other.
"I know, you gotta work on that, it's starting to worry me" Taehyung joked, turning around completely to be facing Jungkook. Their fingers were still intertwined between them and they were inches apart; the warm air between them felt just right and nice and Jungkook wouldn't change it for anything - or maybe he'd change it for being even closer, but only for that "But besides that, I'm really sorry"
Wait, wasn't Taehyung the one angry and Jungkook the one who should be asking for forgiveness? Why was Taehyung all of a sudden being soft and saying sorry as if he hadn't been ignoring Jungkook all afternoon? Jungkook, at least, wasn't angry at him, not anymore; he was just sorry because he'd given Tae a bad time that day; yes, he'd been angry at first (he'd felt like screaming into a pillow) but that was over. He didn't need Tae to apologize for anythig... but then again, he was always weak and he was probably ignoring something else.
"What are you saying? I'm the one who-"
"Shh" Taehyung cut him by giving him a little and unexpected peck on the lips "Let me talk"
"I'll let you talk, but I find it funny that you were just giving me a hard time when you felt you did something wrong" Jungkook said, smiling brightly since the kiss had really taken him by surprise "that's a mean thing to do, I was worried"
"Shut up or I'll bite your lip" Taehyung warned him.
"Do it" the younger said quickly, puckering his lower lip in a funny way. It's not like he didn't take Taehyung's attempts at apologizing seriously, it was just that he was happy Tae wasn't mad at him and he really wanted to kiss him again now.
Taehyung's answer was freeing one of his hands and using one of his fingers to pull from Jungkook's lower lip and saying "just shh" again, laughing.
"Ok" Jungkook said, his voice sounding funny since Tae was still pulling at his lip "Apologize. I hear you" he said in a demandant tone, as Tae finally let go of his lip and pinched his cheek; Jungkook shifted at the touch.
"You're cute"
"That's not an apology"
The elder poked his nose: "I know, but you are" Taehyung said and moved forward just a bit, to tangle their legs and put an arm on Jungkook's waist.
This, this felt more normal. Jungkook smiled at the thought.
"Still waiting" he said sarcastically, closing his eyes.
"Still willing to bite your lips" Taehyung answered in the same tone.
"Still don't know why you're not doing that"
The younger felt Taehyung's arm squeezing him tight, like asking him to stop being an idiot while the singer himself giggled. Jungkook was breathing in his laughs and smiling a lot, like they didn't do that at least eight days a week.
He guessed that was the point of why his relationship with Tae still worked, even after years of pining and wondering and messing around with each other: it still felt a lot like if they were at the beggining of their journey, but with a whole lot of more experience with them, of more confidence that told them that it was ok they loved each other and that they were going to be ok even if their relationship was the worst thing they could've chosen to have ('cause like, Korea's really conservatively homophobic still and their fame could tragically fall if anyone knew about it). It all still felt new and surprising, every little thing; maybe 'cause they were always finding out new stuff about themselves, about what they liked and all that, or maybe it was because they had been best friends first and that just made it a lot easier to have a relationship like theirs, in which they had to pretend they weren't together for 90% of the time.
Whatever it was, that feeling was what made their relationship so good.
Jungkook still felt butterflies and he knew Taehyung did too (let's say Tae wasn't silent about it, sometimes they were just sitting on their couch, playing overwatch like any other day and Taehyung would suddenly cup Jungkook's face and tell him something as cheesy as "I think I like you a lot" or "I have a zoo in my belly because of you" and in those moments, Jungkook would laugh it off and kiss him if they were alone). He just really adored what they had.
And moments like this, when they were super close and sorted their problems out made him realize of how lucky he was for having it.
"Ok, look" Taehyung continued talking, as Jungkook looked at him in the eyes, expecting "All I wanna say is that I feel like an idiot 'cause I truly overreacted in the worst way possiible" he said, pouting - Jungkook couldn't fight his needs at the moment and quickly gave him a little peck on his pout, making Taehyung smile a little before he was pushing him back again "Hey" he complained "I'm serious, you were right: I was being childish" he admited, blinking a lot and not looking back at the younger for a few moments.
"You were just talking with the hyungs and doing your stuff and- I don't know, I just wanted to tell you you looked cute" so that's what was so important for Taehyung to tell him that he was trying to climb on his back back in the downtown? Ugh, made sense, actually "but then you ignored me completely and- well, you know how I am, I need physical contact to survive..."
Jungkook chuckled. Yes, he knew that damn well: ever since they were younger and awkward (well, he was the one who was awkward), Taehyung was always climbing to his back, clinging to his arms and sometimes even kissing his cheek as if it was the normal thing to do (it maybe was for Taehyung, but up until then, Jungkook wasn't used to so much contact with someone -let alone a guy). With the years he got used to it (well, except for when he actually catched feelings for the hyung and was awkward about it again, but like three times worst that when he was first hugged by Tae, but things got back to normal after they slept together for the first time, thank God) and also got used to seeing Tae do that with everyone, especially their members. So, yes, he knew Tae needed cuddles and hugs and overall love to keep his smily face on, so he himself should feel ashamed for not giving Tae that when he was supposed to be the first one doing it.
"It's ok, I was the asshole" he hurried to answer, caressing Taehyung's cheek with his hand, the elder leaning in at the soft touch "I was just distracted and with the cameras there..."
At that, Taehyung's expression changed slightly, it almost went unnoticed, but Jungkook knew him enough to differenciate Tae's million faces, and the one he was pulling right now could only mean that he didn't like what he heard.
"Again with that" came the frustrated confirmation by the elder, who hid his face on Jungkook's palm, sighing.
Ah, yes, Jungkook had forgotten that part; it was something he really wanted to discuss, since it happened to be that Tae lately really hated it when him -or anybody- reminded him that they were being filmed and that they shouldn't do whatever they were doing.
"I'm sorry but I can't change that" he said, feeling really sorry about the matter.
It's true it was easier for Jungkook to hide what they had because he was a closed kinda person, he always kept things to himself and, although his eyes and expressions betrayed him sometimes, he was just better at keeping things on the low. Taehyung on the other hand found it harder not because he couldn't act it out (of course not, he was a hell of an actor and could act out an arc in which he hated Jungkook if he wanted or needed to), but because he was a hype beast that always wanted to show the world when he was happy and what was making him happy, and if Jungkookie was what made him happy then he just wanted to let ARMYs know, but he knew he should keep his mouth shut and his proper distance. It sucked but it was the life they chose.
"I know, it's not that"
"I don't want to get scolded anymore"
"I know, and I'm not saying I want the crew to hate us more than they do now" Taehyung looked up from Jungkook's palm and pouted again "it's just- ok, I'll say it" yes, please, you're killing me here "It's just that you're so distant lately that it feels like you're not my baby anymore when we're filming... and I really don't like that"
Taehyung spoke so fast and so low that if he had said anything else, Jungkook wouldn't have catched it probably, but what he said concerned the maknae so much that he actually understood every single word, and they hit him like a truck. He didn't realize Tae felt that way... why hadn't he told him? Why hadn't he himself figured out before?
"It feels like crap actually-"
"What do you mean...?" was all the younger managed to say, tripping on his own words at the sight of Taehyung's sad look.
The elder was biting the inside of his cheek and looking around, like trying to dodge answering to the question, like what he said first was enough when it clearly wasn't. Jungkook moved his hand down to Taehyung's hip and started taping there, waiting for an answer so they could start looking for a solution.
Tae coughed.
"You barely talk to me now when there's a camera, and rarely look at me... look, if I'm not aproaching you, you're never even close to me-"
"That's not tr-"
"It is, trust me"
Jungkook rolled his eyes because it was still a little hard for him to accept when the stuff he did was wrong, but he had learnt over the years that if he wanted to make things work he'd have to listen to what Tae had to say and respond to that. They were a mature enough couple to talk most of the things that bothered them out, so it was great Tae was telling him this now; better sooner than later.
"I'm sorry" he said, stroking the older's waist.
"You don't have to be sorry, it's just weird" Taehyung said quickly, giving him yet another unexpected and extremely welcomed peck on the lips "and it wouldn't be weird if I wasn't a needy bitch so..."
"You're not a needy bitch, Tae, you're just clingy and cute" Jungkook assured him, smiling fondly "and I love that"
"Of course you do" Tae said in a cocky way, suddenly rolling completely to his side, unfolding himself from the blanket, to end up on top of Jungkook, pining him against the matress like he had been just a few moments ago. As Jungkook chuckled at the sudden weight lying on him, Taehyung rested his elbows on each side of the younger's shoulders, and his chin on his own hands; he obviously looked cute "but that's not the point, Jungkookie" he continued, looking down at Jungkook's lips carelessly "the point is that I shouldn't be needing you to assure me that we're together when there's cameras, it shouldn't be like that"
"And I shouldn't get 'jealous' over the same old stuff but I still do, what's new?" Jungkook asked, wrapping his arms around Taehyung, to keep him against himself, as if Tae wasn't already on him.
"What's new is that I don't want to feel that thing in my chest anymore" Tae answered, lowering his head so they could finally kiss properly. Lips moving on lips for a full 3 seconds until the older moved back up again "I don't want to feel bad everytime I see you straight up flirting with Jiminie or I don't know, saying your married to Jin hyung..."
Taehyung tried to kiss him again but Jungkook moved his head, so Tae ended up kissing his jawline.
"Wait" he said "what you're trying to tell me is that you're... jealous?" Jungkook couldn't believe it. All those years thinking he was the psycho when Taehyung actually felt like that too? Whoa, great news. Well, not great, because Tae seem to not like the feeling, but still, it was good to know he wasn't the only one jealous of their own bandmates when they knew they would never do anything against their relationship. He almost bursted out laughing when he saw Taehyung blushing on him "OH MY GOD, you're jealous"
"No, I'm not, shut up" Tae said, doing what he said he was gonna do earlier and bitting Jungkook's lower lip to shut him up. Tae looked down at him to make sure he wasn't mocking him anymore so he could keep talking "I'm just annoyed at how you do that with everyone except with me, that's all..."
"Ok, first of all, do that again" Jungkook said wiggling his eyebrows and pointing at Taehyung's lips with one of his fingers "Second, you know I love you, Tae, what I do for the cameras is something else and you know it" he assured him, pulling him back down for another kiss, this one a little longer than the other, long enough for Jungkook to have time to actually run his hands through Taehyung's back and smile into the kiss.
"Ok, ok, I know that and I love you too, by the way" Taehyung said, separating himself from Jungkook again, having the younger chasing his lips for a brief second with his eyes closed "but I would really like to know why you're doing that to me, like, are you trying to get me to be frustrated at you so when I sneak into your room I'm more ready or you're just a saddist that likes to see his boyfriend in pain?"
Well, since Jungkook didn't realize he was doing that, he didn't have a real excuse for his actions, the only thing he knew for sure was that it was easier for him to be loosen up around the other hyungs on camera because Taehyung... Taehyung...
"Youstillmakemenervous" he said it like it was a single and long word, hiding himself from Taehyung's gaze with his hand; through his fingers, he could see his boyfriend smiling widely, sparks in his eyes and happiness written all over his beautiful face.
"Sorry, didn't quite catch it, what?" Taehyung, the bastard, asked him, shoving Jungkook's hand off of his face so he was forced to stare back at him. Jungkook stared at him for a few seconds, admiring his boyfriend's feaures like he hadn't memorized them ages ago, taking in all the beauty before shoving him to the side, making Taehyung fall off of him into the matress again, bouncing and giggling "Could you repeat what you just said, Jungkookie, baby?" he insisted.
Jungkook just rolled his eyes at that and moved to be hovering over Taehyung's body, being against suspended by his own elbow, close enough to Taehyung's face to tease.
"You still make me nervous" he repeated, separating the words this time, making them roll in his tongue. The older singer was literally squealing beneath him, clenching his fists together as his body shivered "just sometimes, though, don't get too excited, hyung" Jungkook joked.
Before he could laugh at his own joke, he had Taehyung's arms around his neck pulling him down against him, and his hyung's lips kissing him so deeply and passionately that for a few long seconds he forgot what was happening, the only thing in his mind being Tae's lips on his, his hands travelling up to his cheeks and then his own hands reaching for Taehyung's face. They usually didn't kiss like that, it was too movie-like for their liking, but in that moment, it felt nice to do it like that: just a very sweet and lasting kiss, them holding each other and their chests moving up and down with every breath they took.
Jungkook always liked how Tae's lips felt on his, always so warm and pleasing, smiling, always smiling (Jungkook couldn't remember a time they kissed that Taehyung didn't smile against him, and that always made him smile too, it was contagious); he also liked how Tae left little touches across his jawline, drawing it, and absolutely loved how their bodies just fitted, how there was not a single way in which he could not be enjoying that.
Sometimes he felt like he needed Taehyung to be even closer.
"I like your skin" Tae spoke against his lips, moving his hands to Jungkook's hair, to run his fingers through it, trying to brush it, since apparently, it was a mess because of their little kisses "and your hair, it's fluffy..."
"You're fluffy" Jungkook sounded drunk in his mind. He was probably drunk on Taehyung's cuteness at that point. No shame about it.
"You're cheesy"
"Weren't you asking for that like two seconds ago?" he leaned down to press kisses on Taehyung's moles (you know all the fuzz: eyes, nose, lips; he just loved them).
"No, I was asking for you to be just like you are now, but when there are people around too" Taehyung said with the biggest boxy smile ever "Ok, that doesn't sound right, though"
Jungkook chuckled as Taehyung's fingers played with his earlobes "You're asking for more PDA, then?" he asked, trying to move from where he was but finding it impossible because he was too comfortable basically sitting on Taehyung - the other wasn't complaining so he didn't do anything else "You know that's gonna be hard, right?"
"No, I don't actually know what I'm asking for..." Taehyung explained, using his fingers to move Jungkook's fringe from one side to the other, deciding which side he liked better, biting his lip and pocking out his tongue "Just wanted you to know how I felt so you could feel awful with yourself next time you do something like that" he let out an evilish smile as he pushed the younger's fringe all the way back, leaving Jungkook's forehead on full display.
"Ok, in that case, I just wanna say that I'm really doing my best not to be a jealous jerk, 'cause I know you don't like it"
"I mean, sometimes it's hot-"
"'Cause it's not healthy" healthy... Jungkook didn't know why he was thinking about that word so much lately, but all he wanted was for what they had to be that: healthy and good (and hot and passionate and everything) "And I don't like it when you try to make me jealous on purpose-"
"I wouldn't say I-"
"C'mon, you weren't sneaky" Jungkook cut Taehyung off before he could try to excuse himself. Then he finally rolled to the side so they could be laying next to each other, facing the other, more relaxed now than ever "I mean, I know why you did it but please, for the sake of my heart, don't do that again"
Taehyung wetted his lips and kissed him again, quickly, before he started to play with his hair again, relaxing Jungkook from head to toe, like letting him know whatever he was gonna say next was a promise:
"I'm sorry, I won't do it again" he whispered, voice deep "not on purpose, at least"
"Ok, I can live with that" Jungkook answered with a smile, not being able to keep his eyes open because of Taehyung's slow petting "as long as you can live with me being a nervous wreck around you when there's more people" he reached out his hand to try and do the same Tae was doing, but he failed, since his hand found Taehyung's other hand in its way and held it tightly, close to his heart (or Taehyung's heart? there was so little space between them and he had his eyes closed, so he couldn't quite tell which one it was).
"We'll work on both things, ok?" Tae asked him and Jungkook could feel him getting closer and closer until they were pressed against each other again, a mess of limbs under the sheets he was putting on top of them (again, needlessly, since it was a hot night, but Jungkook would never complain), his fingers still working magic on the younger singer's hair. Jungkook nodded barely, trying to bury his face on the space between Tae's shoulder and neck, a place that was always more comfortable than any pillow, if that made sense "Are you sleepy?"
"Kinda" he breathed out, letting go of Tae's hand to fully hug him.
"Me too" the older answered, kissing the top of his head.
That was nice. Jungkook loved the feeling his body had everytime he was about to fall asleep on/next to/underneath Taehyung, falling asleep on his arms was like falling asleep in his bed in Busan - like sleeping back at home again after a long time, when actually he slept on wrapped on those arms almost everyday.
Home. Taehyung's arms were home and he felt terrible for making him had a bad time that day, even if it lead to this now, them cuddling, leaving little kisses and enjoying themselves.
"I'm sorry, again" he said for like the 9th time that night.
"I'm sorry too" Taehyung answered for the 9th time too.
"I'm glad we're still together after all that" that was him sleep-talking already.
"Well, it's not like I was gonna break up with you for a little fig-"
"No, I mean I'm glad we're together even though we're kinda fucked up on some ways"
"We're not fucked up, dummie, we're just too much into each other... I think"
"Well, I like being this much into you"
"I like it too" Taehyung said; Jungkook could feel him smiling against his hair. Their voices were sleepy and if they weren't so close together they'd probably couldn't hear each other "but don't say it too loud because they'll hear"
Jungkook didn't have time to think. He was falling asleep and Taehyung was too.
"Who'll hear?"
"Them"
"And what will they hear?"
"That I'm in love with you" Taehyung's words fell quieter and quieter as he spoke, letting them out almost like a last breath before he fell asleep.
"Someday they'll have to hear" Jungkook said against Tae's chest. He wasn't even sure if his hyung was even listening to him anymore "and I'll be the one to tell'em"
That's what he hoped.
That's what he wanted.
Jungkook hated it when Taehyung was angry.
Jungkook hated it even more when he knew he was the asshole that had upsetted his boyfriend. But he loved so much the fact that no matter what happened to them during the day, they would still fall asleep holding each other close to their bodies, with the biggest smiles on their lips.
