Chapter Text
The new girl had started a week prior. She was very confident, perhaps overly confident, and all the other writers refused to work with her.
Andy had to agree that she came on a little headstrong, which wasn’t always a bad thing. But she wasn’t doing well to fit in with the team, and if she continued that way she wouldn’t last long. Andy being Andy, she felt bad and she wanted to help this girl.
She crossed the bullpen towards the new girl’s desk.
“Hey Teiran, I was just wondering how you’re settling in?”
The girl turned to her and gave a half shrug.
“Greg won’t give me anything solid to write about, and Tasha was supposed to show me the ropes, but she hates me because she knows I’m better than her.”
Teiran ran her fingers through her blonde hair and sighed.
Andy bit her lip.
“Right… well if you ever have any questions or need someone to bounce ideas off of, just let me know.”
Teiran nodded slowly, clearly disinterested.
Andy turned back towards her desk, but paused before turning back to Teiran.
“I was just about to go out for a coffee, did you want to come?”
The younger girl's face lit up as she nodded.
“Let me just grab my coat.”
It was a blustering fall day, the streets were busy as ever. The two women walked down the sidewalk, side by side, starbucks in hand.
“- he insists on only giving me these absolute nothing puff pieces. How am I supposed to work with this kittens rescued from trees nonsense?!”
Andy nodded sympathetically, her mittened hand tightening on her coffee cup.
“I know it all seems so pointless now, but trust me. Everyone starts out with fluff writing. It’s what you do with the nothing that proves to Greg that you’re ready for something meatier.”
Teiran took a long sip from her cup, her lipstick leaving pink coloured stains on the lid.
“It’s just hard roughing it, when you’re used to having more.”
Andy nodded, wondering briefly exactly what she meant by “roughing it”. A particularly strong gust of wind blew past them. Andy shivered, reaching to clasp the lapels of her jacket tighter around her neck.
“Gosh, winter seems to be coming in fast.”
Teiran’s eyes widened as she unwrapped her own scarf from around her neck.
“Here, take this. I’m feeling pretty warm anyways.”
Andy paused briefly as Teiran wrapped the scarf around her neck.
“Right… thanks.”
Teiran grinned.
“It’s no problem really. You can keep it. It looks better on you anyway.”
Andy sped up her walking pace, and briskly took a long swig of her coffee.
“We should get back.”
-
Later that night Andy trudged up the steps of the townhouse, and as soon as she stepped foot inside, she dropped all of her things unceremoniously on the floor with a sigh.
She glanced towards the staircase to see Miranda sitting on the steps in her bathrobe, a soft smirk on her face.
“You would not believe how happy I am to see your beautiful face right now.” Andy said with a smile, arms outstretched towards her lover.
Miranda stood up to meet her, gently dragging her fingers up Andy’s sides.
“Mmm, tell me more.”
Miranda leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to Andy’s lips.
Suddenly she paused, her eyebrows furrowed as she took a step back. Andy glanced to the side then back at Miranda.
“What?”
Miranda scrunched her nose distastefully.
“What is that?”
Andy stared at her questioningly.
“What’s what?”
Miranda frowned, and leaned in closer again, gently sniffing at the air around Andy.
“You smell different.”
She stepped back again and narrowed her eyes.
“Explain yourself.”
Andy laughed.
“Oh come one Miranda, I’m sure it’s nothing. Maybe I’m a little sweaty.”
Andy reached out to Miranda again, but Miranda stepped back and narrowed her eyes further.
“Andrea Sachs, I know what you smell like when you are a little sweaty, and I know what you smell like when you’re very sweaty. I know your perfumes, and your shampoo. All of your lotions. You do not smell like you. ”
Andy smiled softly.
“You know what I smell like?”
Miranda immediately blushed, from her chest to her cheeks.
“That’s not the point, Andrea.”
Her voice was hoarse.
“Of course, the point is that I smell wrong… Wait! I know what it is, Teiran lent me her scarf.”
Miranda frowned.
“Teiran?”
Andy laughed and rolled her eyes.
“She’s just a coworker Miranda, nothing to worry about. She just started and was having trouble fitting in.”
“Mmhmmm, I’m sure. And my knight in shining armor had to swoop in to save the day!”
“Aw come on Miranda.”
Andy reached for her again but Miranda shook her head.
“I refuse to come anywhere near you, while that stench is on you.” Miranda said firmly, waving her hand loosely in Andrea’s direction.
“Mirandaa! Seriously?!”
Miranda pursed her lips before turning back, and heading up the stairs.
“This is non-negotiable.”
Andrea groaned, before following Miranda up the stairs and then heading towards the shower.
Tossing all her clothes on the floor, Andy stepped under the hot water, praying it would wash away her transgressions, as it were.
As she turned off the water, she had barely just left the bathroom, hadn’t even grabbed her towel when Miranda was on her. She was completely nude, pressed up against Andy.
She dragged her lips, leaving half-hazard kisses across Andy’s slick shoulders.
“Hmmmmmm, much better.” Miranda sighed, her hands wandering.
Andy’s chuckle developed into a moan as Miranda’s hands and mouth became more insistent.
“Oh, now someone is feeling naughty.”
Miranda purred in admission as she dragged Andy to the bed and pulled her down on top of her.
“Aren’t you insistent.”
Miranda’s head fell back with a sigh as Andy’s mouth trailed across her jaw and down her neck, then across her collarbone.
Miranda shivered, and dragged her fingers up Andy’s back and into her hair, tugging gently.
Andy chuckled as her lips wrapped around a pert pink nipple and sucked.
“Ooooh yes.” Miranda breathed.
Andy paused and sat up briefly.
“I think I can still smell that perfume, maybe I should go shower again-”
Miranda pulled her back down, pressing her breasts into Andy’s face.
“Don’t you dare.” She growled deep in her throat.
Andy laughed again, but gave in to Miranda quickly. It was her fault after all, that she’d made such a rookie mistake, wearing another woman’s scarf.
“Don’t you worry darling, you know I take such good care of you, don’t I?” Andy said with a smirk, slipping her fingers between them to the apex of Miranda’s thighs.
Miranda nodded forcefully as her eyes closed.
“Oh god yes.”
Andy pushed two fingers past Miranda’s entrance. Miranda spread her legs wider in response, arching her pelvis and rolling her hips in tandem with Andy’s movements.
Miranda was groaning enthusiastically, as Andy connected her lips to the side of Miranda’s neck and began to suck and bite and kiss.
Miranda dug her nails into the tops of Andy’s shoulders, and dragged them slowly across her bare back.
Andy hissed, and added a finger to Miranda’s centre. She quickened her pace and pushed her further.
Every muscle in Miranda’s body tensed as she began to reach her peak.
“Andrea, oh god, Andrea.”
Miranda was whispering, just loud enough for Andy to hear over the sounds of their bodies meeting.
Andy smirked and kissed her thoroughly.
“You’re being such a good girl, aren’t you kitten?”
Miranda clutched Andy’s back, pressing them flush together as she came with a silent cry.
Andy wiped her hand on the sheets, and began peppering Miranda’s face, neck and chest with kisses.
“You were such a good girl for me, a very good girl.”
Miranda whimpered, and grabbed the back of Andy’s head and pulled their lips together.
“I’m nowhere near finished with you yet.” Miranda breathed.
Andy laughed, and that laughter turned into a hiss as Miranda gently touched the marks she’d left behind on Andy’s neck and back.
“I’d say I’m sorry, but I feel they may be fitting punishment.” Miranda said softly, with a quirk of her eyebrow.
Andy smiled.
“A punishment I will gladly accept.”
-
“Morning Andy!”
Andy smiled as she entered the bullpen, dropping her bag on her desk.
“Morning Teiran.”
Andy removed her coat, and jumped at Teiran’s sudden gasp.
“Oh my god, Andy what happened to your neck?!”
Andy touched the side of her neck, remembering the night before.
“Oh yeah. I forgot about that..”
Teiran came over, looking closely at Andy’s neck.
“Do you have a cat?”
Andy chuckled.
“I mean, I guess you could say it like that. It was just my girlfriend.”
Teiran’s eyes widened.
“Oh! Wow. Sorry.”
Andy laughed again.
“It’s all good. I forgot about them to be honest.”
Teiran nodded.
“I actually had a question for you, about an assignment I’m working on. Greg said you probably had notes on it.”
“Uh yeah, you’re picking up that piece we dropped from the last edition right?”
Andy opened her laptop on her desk.
Teiran nodded, stepping so she was arm and arm with Andy.
“Yeah, that’s the one.”
Andy nodded, as she glanced through the folders on her laptop.
“I think I have those files, they’re just at home. How about you meet me there after work, I can give you everything I have.”
Teiran nodded.
“For sure. Just text me the address.”
Andy nodded.
“Awesome, I’ll see you later Andy!”
Andy smiled brightly and waved as Teiran headed out.
-
When the door rang and Miranda opened the door, she wasn’t sure what she was expecting. She was surprised however, to find she didn’t recognize the person standing on her front steps.
The blonde woman seemed to quiver under her gaze.
Miranda raised a brow, looking the girl up and down in a way that could only be described as dismissive.
“Can I help you?”
The girl blinked, her mouth opening and closing several times.
Miranda sighed, and rolled her eyes.
“Well..?”
The girl blinked.
“You’re Miranda Priestly.”
Miranda pursed her lips, and pinched the bridge of her nose.
“That is truly an astounding observation, thank you for bringing it to my attention. Is there anything else?”
The girl shook her head, stuttering through her words.
“I’m sorry, I was looking for a coworker. I was supposed to pick up some papers for an assignment. She must have given me the wrong address.”
Miranda tipped her head in understanding.
“Ah. You’re Andrea’s friend.”
The girl's eyes narrowed in confusion.
Miranda turned into the house and called out for her lover.
“Andrea, your lovely little coworker friend is here.”
Andy bounded down the stairs and joined Miranda in the doorway, wrapping an arm around the older woman's waist.
“Oh Teiran! You’re here for the notes.”
Miranda smirked at the confusion that was contorting Teiran’s face.
“I’ll go grab them for you darling.” She said softly, squeezing the hand on her waist, and kissing Andy’s cheek, before heading back into the townhouse.
Teiran’s mouth was open again, as she tried to form a coherent thought.
Andy looked at her with concern.
“Teiran, are you okay?”
“That was Miranda Priestly.”
Andy chuckled and nodded her head.
“Yeah, she really is something. Isn’t she?”
Teiran blinked slowly.
“You’re sleeping with the Miranda Priestly?”
Andy narrowed her eyes.
“Um, we’ve actually been dating for several years now.”
Teiran shook her head.
“I can’t believe this.”
“It’s not like I kept it a secret.”
Teiran nodded, clearly flustered.
“I suppose I’m just surprised. She doesn’t exactly come across as dateable. Wouldn’t you want someone, I don’t know, a little less icy?”
Andy frowned, crossing her arms in front of her chest.
“Well in all honesty, you wouldn’t really know what you’re talking about, would you? You don’t know her like I do. No one does.”
Miranda reappeared in the doorway next to Andy.
“Here are your papers.”
Teiran nodded.
“Thanks.”
Miranda gave a curt smile. The one she saved for galas.
“Oh, and I took the courtesy of returning your scarf to you as well. My Andrea, has more scarves than she could ever possibly wear. She doesn’t need another.” Her words were clear, and cut through the night air like daggers.
Teiran blanched at the sight of the scarf in Miranda’s hand, and took it from her with shaking hands.
“Of course. Thank you.”
Miranda smiled again.
Teiran walked down the steps, and as she hit the sidewalk she turned back towards the couple.
“See you Monday, Andy.”
With those words she was off down the sidewalk.
“Don’t count on it.” Miranda muttered coolly.
Andy laughed as they went back inside, closing the door behind them.
“Miranda!
