Chapter 8: 2nd Bonus

Notes:

After about two years of getting this idea from a friend at a con, I finally managed to write it... I hope very much that it can make someone smile, and bring a little comfort. It's unbeta'd, so forgive my mistakes.

Let me know if you enjoy it, if you want. Much love and hugs <3

Chapter Text

When Magnus wakes before sunrise, his first thought is of Alec coming home tomorrow.

Finally.

He hasn’t seen him for two months, since they decided that the travel of eight hours every weekend was impossible, taking too much of a toll on him, and Alec had so much to do for his last training cycle to become a vet, Magnus pulled himself together, calmed his boisterous heart that didn’t want to let Alec go, not even for two weeks, and told him to sit out the last two months, so he could do his best, and leave with no regrets.

Alec argued for a while, but Magnus won in the end. A victory he wasn’t fond, or proud of, at all. He sulked every night when he watched TV, or read, or wrote while Nala, Lucy, and the Chairman were occupying their bed, and Magnus was painfully aware of Alec’s absence, and how terribly he was missed by everyone, most of all by himself.

When he stroked and consoled them, he was mostly trying to console himself, staring at his engagement ring on his finger. They postponed the wedding to sometime next year, so Alec wouldn’t have to stress about the preparations, as well as his training, but Magnus was thinking about it a lot more often than he liked, and wouldn’t admit.

He could see a dozen different scenarios in his mind, and he liked them all, but mostly, he just wanted to be Alexander’s husband, in every way possible.

He smiled every time he thought of his unusual, and nerve-racking proposal, and sometimes a tear slid down from the corner of his eye.

Magnus managed to change his own life, with a little help here and there, but Alexander made everything worthwhile, and gave him courage, and a purpose, and he loves him, and their family so much that his chest flinches, and swells whenever he lets his emotions overwhelm him.

He sits up in bed, seeing the first specks of October light rising through the gap in the curtains, and suddenly knows with a deep conviction that he cannot, and will not wait even a minute longer to see him than he has to.

The dogs’ heads come up simultaneously from where they were snuggled on the floor, and Magnus looks at them. “I’ll get him home right now.”

The dogs are on their feet instantly, as if they understood him.

He quickly gets up to prepare everything he’ll need for his long road trip, the dogs behind him, following his every step, and Magnus ponders whether he could take Nala with him, because Alec, and her, would be so happy, but if he takes her, he has to take Lucy, who never leaves Nala’s side, too.

He could do it. He can. He will.

He packs everything for the dogs, too, and is overly joyed when he reaches Isabelle who’s free and promises to look after the Chairman, and the few rescue animals Magnus has kept looking after even without Alec.

He loads up their black Jeep, the dogs immediately climbing inside when he opens the door, settling on the back on their respective blankets, and Magnus smiles fondly, closes the door, and gets into the driver’s seat.

Just when he thinks that he forgot to tell the Chairman goodbye, and whether he will hate him too much if he’ll just leave like this, he hears meowing in the back.

He turns quickly, startled, blinks, his mouth open, staring at the Chairman who’s settled down on the dogs, and looks at him as if he was scolding him. He meows again, and Magnus can hardly fathom it.

“How did you get in here? I didn’t even see you much this morning.” This cat truly is some mysterious creature, and he knows there is no way he will stay home now.

Magnus laughs softly to himself. “Fine, you can come, you rascal.” The Chairman purrs in response, obviously content, and Magnus chuckles, turns back, and sends Izzy a text so she won’t be panicked if she can’t find him later.

“Okay, everyone ready? Here we start on our mission to bring our Alexander back home where he belongs.”

They’re all giving off sounds upon hearing Alec’s name, and Magnus feels a rush of joy. He starts the car, smiling and glancing at his three companions through the mirror, his chest brimming with excitement.

Every couple of hours they take a break, eat, go for a walk, explore the area they found. Magnus has time, he doesn’t want to surprise Alec before his last day has ended properly, and he’s finished all of his work, knowing it would bother him otherwise.

He messages him a few times, not lying, but obviously not telling him what they’re really up to. He can tell from Alec’s replies that he’s really eager to get home, and how much he wishes he could jump forth in time.

Magnus knows how he feels, but he’s feeling much calmer knowing he will see him in a few hours, instead of tomorrow.

The autumn sun is warming them, the colors around them magnificent as they find a lake where they stay for an hour before their last leg of the journey. Alec should well be ready by the time Magnus reaches his temporary workplace.

He wants to show him this view, as well, they’ll have to stop here again, later, or some other time. He just wants to be able to hold his hand, and lean on him, feel his lips on his temple, be able to kiss him whenever he wants to, in a beautiful place, watching their four-legged family members roam around freely, and happily. He’s simply missing, and he’s missing him so much .

But he smiles, closing his eyes, taking a deep breath of the wonderful clean air, feeling content enough just now. Only a couple of hours.

When Magnus parks the car, and looks up at the building where Alec - hopefully - still is, he feels goosebumps all over, his heart hammering in his chest, his stomach coiling with happy jitters, his palms sweaty.

He’s never been so crazy in love, but he absolutely relishes it. It’s everything he ever wished for, and dreamt of, and so much more. Before he starts to cry, he turns back to his three pals who are watching him expectantly.

“I’ll go get him first, you be good and wait here, okay?” He thinks they agree, and he gives them all a pat and a kiss, leaves a window partly open, and heads inside the practice building.

He has to check a few signs to find the right place, it’s pretty big here, and then takes the elevator upstairs, his hands trembling slightly, his body reacting more, and more, with tingles and hot flushes.

He has to take a couple of deep breaths when he finds the right door, telling himself to get a grip, it’s just Alexander, but there’s no just about it, and he’s also anxious to see his reaction.

He kicks his ass, and opens the door quickly, and closes it, his eyes keenly looking around, to find no one inside. His heart jumps, and falls, but there are a couple of other doors, so maybe, hopefully-

Magnus freezes when one of the doors is opened, his eyes filling with tears when Alec walks through, startles and halts abruptly, staring at Magnus as if he is a figment of his imagination, eyes wide, mouth open.

Magnus wants to say his name, but he’s too overcome by emotions, and should he explain why he’s here, first, or just-

Before his mind gets chance to function, Alexander’s suddenly right before him, and he wraps him up in the most wholesome, crushing embrace, taking Magnus’ breath away, and he lets himself sink, and drown, right in the most wonderful feelings, closing his arms around him, inhaling his scent, savoring the touch, and feel of him as if he had been deprived for a long, long time.

“Magnus.”

Magnus hears Alec’s voice muffled by where his mouth is pressed into the side of Magnus’ neck, and a shudder surges all through him, scalp to toes, and a tear rushes from his eye, he can’t help it.

“Alexander.” It breaks out of his mouth, quivering, and soft, but he’s sure Alec knows all he wants to say.

Somehow their grip on each other tightens even more, their breaths loud in the empty, quiet room, their heartbeats rapid, and uncontrolled.

Alec moves back slowly, his face brushing Magnus’, unable to stop touching him, his mind yet needing to catch up with the fact he’s here, and he’s really holding him, and he’s filling all of his senses, letting him forget the world around them.

His hands slide up to cradle Magnus’ face, their eyes locking for a moment, blurred and bright with emotions, breathing each other’s breath, eyes shutting again as noses, and foreheads, and cheeks press, and touch, and lastly their lips, trembly, and cautiously, seeking, finding, the shock replaced by longing, desire, and need, washing over him with a vigor that translates into their kiss, fervent, and urgent, tasting, and stroking, and demanding more, insatiable.

He gasps as he finds himself turned and pushed back against the desk behind him, Magnus’ hands pushing under his shirt, his cooler fingers dragging over Alec’s hot skin, making him groan, pulling Magnus eagerly into him, between his legs, grabbing, pulling, pushing at clothes with clumsy, unbound passion.

Magnus somehow manages to open both their pants, never quite breaking their mouths apart, hands and rings, and hard, hot, sensitive skin, harsh breaths, and rough moans, echoing, and swallowed up cries, bursting and trembling together.

Alec’s mind needs a couple of minutes to find one coherent thought again, his body reeling, and thrumming, holding onto Magnus, listening to every sound.

He realises again where they are, and he is so fucking glad he’s the last one to leave. He chuckles quietly to himself, amazed, stunned, overjoyed, pulls back to look at Magnus’ beloved face, and caresses it for a moment, then he leans back and over the desk, opens a drawer and gets out some wipes for them to clean up.

They smile, and kiss, and watch each other, no words needed, and once they’re done, Alec pulls Magnus into the tightest hug again, vowing to never ever let go of him.

Magnus could honestly stay like this for hours, but he knows something Alexander doesn’t, and he can’t keep him for too long.

“There’s someone waiting for you in the car.” He knows he needn’t say more.

He feels an immediate jolt in Alec’s body, and they shift, facing each other. Alec’s eyes are so bright, so deep, so beautiful, and so surprised, filled with marvellous emotions.

He swallows, not sure he’s able to keep the tears inside. Magnus is just… too incredible.

“Is it possible to love too much?” Alec’s face is shifting with dozens of emotions as he cups Magnus’ cheek, gazing at him in wonder.

“Not possible.” Magnus seems just as emotional, and Alec is so fucking elated, he smiles so hard, holding him as close as he can manage for another few seconds.

“I guess we shouldn’t let them wait.”

Magnus shakes his head, smiling so lovely and Alec tries to catch his breath, calm his heart, but it’s sheer impossible, and unimportant, and he takes Magnus’ hand in his, laces their fingers together, grabs his bag and jacket, and locks the door behind them.

They take the elevator down, holding hands, looking into each other’s eyes, kissing fondly until the door dings, and they rush out.

When Alec spots his three other loves, his face lights up in a way Magnus could be jealous of, if it didn’t light up like that, or more, for him, too.

He nods when Alec looks back at him apologetically, full of unbridled joy, lets go of his hand, and runs to open the door of the jeep, Magnus unlocks with his key from where he stands, quickly getting out his phone to record, and watch the scene unfold before him.

Nala is the first out, followed instantly by Lucy, jumping and barking at Alec, their tails never wagging any faster ever.

Alec’s trying to calm them but there is no such thing, and the dogs take him down as their enthusiasm only grows. Magnus is concerned for a moment, but thankfully there’s grass underneath him, and judging from his laughter, and half-hearted attempts at pushing them off of him, he’s absolutely fine.

The dogs lick all over his face, trying not to hurt him, but he gets a few paws into uncomfortable bodily places anyway, unable to mind too much. The Chairman is suddenly walking over his face, purring, and Alec tries not to get too much fur into his mouth.

They’re all crazy, and he loves them so fucking much.

Nala and Lucy finally settle down on him, and the Chairman on top of his head, grooming him. Alec just allows it, his face hurting from laughing, and smiling so much, his arms around the dogs, telling them how much he missed them, too.

Magnus comes closer, unable to stop smiling, either, the image of them like this just too precious, and wonderful. He ponders for only a few seconds, stops filming, and lies down next to Alec, pats Lucy on his side, and snuggles into Alec’s body as close as he can, Alec’s arm finding a way around Magnus, kissing his head.

They're perfection, and pure bliss if they’ve ever known it.

They have to get up eventually, but the dogs only budge once Alec promises several times that he will not leave again.

Back in the car, Alec turns to Magnus, takes a deep breath, hugs him, and kisses his forehead. “Thank you so much.”

He’s about to get too emotional, so he sneaks the key from Magnus instead, and gets into the driver’s seat before Magnus can complain.

He grins at him naughtily, watching Magnus rolling his eyes, but neither of them wants to lose time, so Magnus gets in quickly, and Alec drives to the apartment he stayed at to get his bags that are all already packed, and he also cleaned everything which he is so glad about now.

They only have to load his bags into the car, and can drive home. He can’t believe Magnus came to pick him up, all this fucking way, and that he brought their three loveable, crazy friends.

Magnus insists that Alec eats something before they drive home, and he feeds Nala, Lucy, and the Chairman, as well, but lets Alec drive after he smiles at him with his damn big puppy eyes, telling him that he wants to, that Magnus drove all the way here already, and promises that he isn’t tired, at all.

Magnus can’t deny that he enjoys being able to just lean back and watch Alexander in comfort while they listen to a playlist of their favorite songs, and Magnus tells him how this road trip happened.

“You’re so mad, but I love you for it.” Alec grins broadly, and Magnus chuckles, pats Alec’s thigh, and leaves his hand there, just still, just to be connected by touch.

They only pause one time, because Nala, Lucy, and the Chairman sleep most of the way back, seemingly exhausted from such an adventurous day, and emotional reunion.

They arrive before midnight, unload the Jeep but leave the bags in the living-room to unpack the next day, and settle down, snuggling on the couch, almost drifting off, Nala, Lucy, and the Chairman fast asleep around them.

“Should we risk it?” Magnus whispers, a strain in his body from wanting to move, but not wanting to disturb them.

“We have to, I don’t wanna sleep down here.”

Alec whispers back, and they move ever so slowly, and carefully, tiptoe to the door, and when Alec turns to glance back, Nala suddenly lifts her head, but Alec shushes her quietly. “Stay.”

And she does, and he smiles at her, and leaves the door a gap open, then heads upstairs after Magnus to their bedroom.

He wants to fall into bed right away, but resists, and is led by Magnus to the bathroom where they wash up, undress, and stare at each other a lot.

“I’d only get home in about sixteen hours.” Alec is so so glad to be home right now. He loved last night’s goodbye party for him with everyone he met, but he was yearning for Magnus, his home, so heavily his whole body ached at one point.

Magnus shakes his head, his hands framing Alec’s head, his lips closing in to touch, and linger on Alec’s.

“I hope you know you’re never going away for more than a few days again, I was almost eaten by three lovesick monsters.”

Magnus grins, and Alec chuckles, wrapping his arms around him, holding him close.

“Mmhmm, I’m so happy you’re still in one piece. And I promise I am never going away again for so long.” He sighs into Magnus’ neck, savoring his smell, the way he feels in his arms, against him, the soft, content sounds he’s making.

Never will he miss this again for long, never.

“Tired?”

Alec hums in response, his body enclosed by the warmest, most soothing comfort, and pure content.

Magnus smiles, frees himself from Alec’s arms, takes his hand, and leads him to their bed. They slip under the cool covers, and search out the others' nearness immediately, legs tangling, arms sliding over each other, fingers stroking shoulders, necks, and hair, their noses and lips brushing, and caressing.

Their movements are all lazy, and soft, smiles, touches, kisses, gazing into each other’s eyes, the dim bedside lamp still on.

Magnus is kind of waiting for Alec to keep still, close his eyes, and fall asleep, wanting to watch him for a while until he does. But Alec’s hands keep wandering along Magnus’ body, and he keeps kissing and kissing him, his tongue slowly, and sweetly swiping Magnus’ lips, and inside his mouth.

Magnus smiles, his brow furrowing inquisitively. “Are you up for it?”

Alec only thinks for a second, “I’m up.”

They laugh quietly, raspily, finding themselves wrapped in ardent kisses, and embraces soon after, their bodies heating from inside, undressing to slide together skin on skin, unhurried with utmost care, existing just for each other in the moment, to covet, devote, love, and please unconditionally.

Magnus slides down on him, their bodies melting with one another, hearts and minds already one, moving sweat-slicked, and slow, savoring every breathy moan kissed off of each other’s lips, their eyes talking even more than their bodies, a promise of forever inherent in their souls.

They lie, wholly peaceful, hands entwined, listening to each other’s heartbeats and soft breathing until sleep claims them.

***

Magnus is woken first, by a wet snout in his face, and a rough, small tongue licking his temple. He can tell it’s the Chairman, and Lucy, even before he sees the culprits.

They’re obviously hungry, or had enough of being on their own, but he’s so pleased, and grateful they let him and Alec have last night to themselves. He’s humongously happy that his, their, Alexander is back home.

Magnus opens his eyes, and turns to look at his sleeping beauty, Nala’s head against Alec’s back, her tail wagging softly.

“Give him a few minutes, girl, he’s exhausted.”

Magnus grins, drops a kiss on Alec’s forehead, signals them to get up and follow him, slips into his underwear, and heads downstairs to the kitchen, to stop dead in his tracks.

Who, what, how?

There’s a large basket on the counter, filled with flowers and vegetables, jam, and bread, and it’s fresh, still warm, and there’s juice, and wine, and also a card.

Actually, it’s an invitation. Magnus just stares at it, feeling lost, trying to figure out whether he’s really awake or not.

He doesn’t even notice Alec’s come to join them until he feels Alec’s hand on his hip, and the invitation is taken from his hand.

Then Magnus stares at Alec, staring at the card, completely dumbstruck, just like him.

“Magnus, these are… our names.” Alec stares at Magnus, staring back at him.

Magnus can only nod. He saw their names. He read it all, a dozen times, but he still couldn’t take it in.

“We are getting married… today?” Alec asks again, sheer disbelief on his face, and he reads the invitation - the invitation to their own wedding - once, twice, three times more.

There’s no mistake.

“I know nothing about this.” Is all Magnus can say, reading it again, as well.

He suddenly notices the clothes bags hanging on the wall across the room, and he just knows they are their wedding suits. What on earth is happening?!

“It says our ride arrives at 11, and to be ready, and not to worry about a thing.” Alec sounds a little high-pitched, shutting his eyes, opening them again, again reading those words that haven’t changed at all.

“And there are our suits.” Magnus points at them, and Alec’s eyes widen, his face a little pale.

“But how? How can we just get married like this? We haven’t planned anything, we haven’t prepared anything?!”

He sounds slightly panicked which kicks Magnus into action. He takes the invitation from him, and pulls him into a hug.

“Shhh, calm down. It’s okay. I’ll call some people and find out what’s going on.” It can’t be some elaborate joke, can it? That would be too cruel.

But who would… he makes Alec sit down, and goes to find his phone. He has a couple of messages, one from Cat, and one from Ragnor, both shocking him, letting him think this has to be real, after all.

He will see them both later , and they can’t wait to bear witness?! What else could they possibly mean than a wedding? But it is not possible, because who would have done this?

He tries to call them, but they’re not picking up, and neither does Dot, or Raphael. It is very early, of course, but still! This is clearly an emergency.

He finds Alec’s phone and rushes back to him, glad to see him a little calmer, having fed their three hungry family members.

Magnus hands him his phone. “I can’t reach anyone, but I got a couple of cryptic messages.” He shows them to him, and Alec definitely thinks the same. And then he checks his phone, and his eyes grow huge.

“Izzy… she says it’s all true, and that everything is ready, that they’ve all planned this as a gift to us both, and we shouldn’t worry about anything, just enjoy our wedding day to the fullest.” Alec whispers, frozen as he keeps staring at his sister’s message.

Magnus takes the phone from him carefully, both shaken, and trembling slightly, and reads her message again. How?!

Who are they?

All of their family? Friends? Everyone?

“Wow, I don’t know what to say.” Magnus sits down, and stares ahead, unable to figure out what he thinks, or rather how he feels about this.

His mind’s soon distracted by Alec crouching down before him, his hands caressing Magnus’ bare knees, eyes locking.

“We originally wanted to get married this year.” Alec starts, gauging Magnus’ reaction.

Magnus nods, he knows that, of course, he wanted to marry Alec right away, as soon as humanly possible. Oh.

“And you talked to Izzy about it a lot, right? And you trust her? And our family, and friends?” Alec continues, and Magnus frowns. Alec seems very… calm suddenly, and there’s a bright glint in his gorgeous eyes.

“Yes, I suppose, but does that mean you’re fine with it?” And why isn’t Magnus fine with it? Or is he fine with it? He’s confused mostly, just sheer overwhelmed.

Alec takes Magnus’ hands into his. “I am if you are. I don’t really mind when or how we get married, Magnus. I just want to marry you, and if it’s today, well, honestly, all the better, isn’t it?”

Alec still looks a little apprehensive at him, trying to understand what Magnus thinks, and feels, because if Magnus has any doubts, and any of this makes him unhappy, he will call his sister and tell her it’s not going to happen, no matter what she, and whoever else, prepared.

He has utmost respect for them, though. He was nervous about planning a whole damn wedding, not really caring about all the details, only for Magnus to be as happy as possible.

Magnus looks at him a little stunned, as if he just realised something big. And he has. He is so fucking lucky, so disgustingly lucky, and, despite of what he’s ever thought about getting married, and weddings, none of that matters really, only who he’s getting married to.

Tears suddenly shoot into his eyes, and he leaps forward, closing his arms around Alec so tightly. “Yes.”

Alec is a little shell-shocked, holding him, worrying, until he hears the word, and his mind thankfully makes the connection. Alec chuckles in relief, the meaning of all of this slowly settling in.

Magnus suddenly pulls back, gripping Alec’s arms, gazing at him intently. “Are we really getting married today?!”

Alec swallows, licks his lips, feeling overcome by nervous and excited jitters, and goosebumps, his lips curving into a big smile.

“Yes, we are.”

Magnus laughs suddenly, rather giggles, half manic, half overjoyed, and they stand, and hug each other, and look at each other gobsmacked, and out of it, brimming more and more with the impact of what this means, and what will happen in just a few hours, and that it will be a complete surprise.

But, as long as he gets to marry his Alexander, Magnus really doesn’t mind whatever else happens, or where it will take place, or how it will look. Amazing.

“Right, we need a plan.”

Alec nods, thinking, a crease between his eyebrows making him look adorable.

“Let’s eat something first, then let me unpack my stuff quickly, and take care of the animals, and then we’ll shower, and get dressed, and then, I guess, we'll wait?”

Magnus nods, kisses Alec’s cheek, and grins, kind of unable to control his face. Alec smirks, drops a kiss on his nose, and hugs him once more, then they check out the basket full of goodies, and enjoy coffee, and tea with them.

Three hours later, Alec’s in their bedroom dressing in the suit that seems to fit him perfectly, and he cannot wait to see Magnus in his. Magnus got ready sooner as Alec got a bit obsessed with leaving everything neatly behind.

His stomach is in uproar with excited, amazed energy, and he can’t calm down his heartbeat, at all.

But he’s fine, he’s great , and he just can’t wait to see what will happen today. He checks himself in the mirror again, hoping he looks adequate, and that he won’t sweat too much, but he can’t stress himself out.

He will marry Magnus Bane, the love of his life, very soon, and that seems insane, thinking that only yesterday he came back home for good after months.

It's a dizzying sensation, but now that it’s really true, he wouldn’t change it for anything.

“Do I look okay?” He asks Nala, who joined him as he came out of the shower.

She cocks her head at him, barks softly, and wags her tail, and Alec grins, gives her a cuddle, and takes a deep breath.

Everything will be fine, just perfect, no matter what will happen.

He walks downstairs, into the living-room where Magnus is waiting, standing in the middle of the room, turning to Alec as he hears him, taking Alec's breath away.

Memories of their first meeting ever flood his mind, how even in that moment, Magnus made his pulse race, and made it harder to breathe. He hopes he always will. He doesn’t really doubt it.

“You do look dashing, my dear Alexander.”

Magnus’ smile is as bright as the sunshine outside. They’re gifted with another beautiful autumn day. It is wonderful to get married this time of the year, and Alec would have secretly regretted it a little if they had postponed it to spring.

Everything about autumn feels right, and magical to him since meeting Magnus, since falling in love, choosing his person to spend his life with. Not that he actually chose him, he simply had no say in the matter, his heart decided, and he’s the luckiest that Magnus’ agreed.

“You look… amazing.” He can’t find the right words, but Magnus’ eyes sparkle knowingly.

They step closer to each other, but halt as they suddenly hear a strange sound, like a lot of hooves on asphalt.

They head to the front door to check the road, astounded as a pretty white, roofless carriage, decorated with all kinds of colorful flowers, headed by two horses Alec helped save from a storm, is coming their way, and halts in front of their door.

The carriage driver is a man from town they know and he greets them with a smile, taking off his hat, bowing to them. What the? Alec and Magnus just blink dumbly at each other. But the excitement is palpable in the air.

“Please, good sirs, step into my humble carriage so I can bring you forth to your destination.”

The driver jumped off, and opened the door for them, and Alec and Magnus take a deep breath, interlace their hands, and smile, their eyes twinkling with adventurous sparks, but just when they take a step, Nala, Lucy, and the Chairman come dashing out from behind them, and jump right up into the carriage.

“Of course you are coming, too, but do you have to be so rude about it?” Magnus scolds them good-humoredly, and Alec barely suppresses his laugh.

He is already in love with the whole day. And he feels like a prince, with the carriage and suit and all, though Magnus, is of course, the only Prince Charming of Alec’s heart.

He laughs inwardly at his corniness, and climbs into the carriage after Magnus, glad it’s big enough for them, and the large dogs. The Chairman always finds a spot, even in places it shouldn’t be possible.

The view is quite wonderful, of fields, and trees, and flowers, and the blue sky, with only a few white clouds scattered here and there.

It’s the most gorgeous day they can remember, though they agree, even if it hailed and stormed, they’d still make the best of it, and wouldn’t let it dampen their spirits.

But this is kind of perfect.

They’re taken to the entrance of the town, and they can see a pathway made of vegetables - lots of pumpkins Magnus is fine with as long as he mustn’t eat them - flowers, and little butterfly lamps. It must look wonderful at night.

The carriage stops, and they are let out, thanking the kind man who takes the carriage away. They grab each other’s hand again, their hearts drumming inside their chests, everything getting more and more real with every passing minute.

“Ready?” Magnus asks softly, and Alec nods, gives him a lopsided smile, and starts walking.

They round a corner and are met by a huge arch that isn’t usually there, right before the town square. The arch is made of beautiful flowers, crops and plants, and it looks stunning.

“All of this is for us?” Alec whispers, the dogs sniffing about, wagging their tails excitedly.

“Yes, it is. We deserve it, no?” Magnus smirks a little, but Alec can see the emotions swimming inside his beautiful brown eyes.

Wow. They do. They really must.

He nods, brings Magnus’ hand up to his face, and kisses the back of it, a moment to linger, and encourage one another. And on they go.

Everything seems very quiet, which is rather strange, and mysterious, but as they cross under the arch, facing the town’s fountain, which is also beautifully decorated, just like the whole market square, with all things nature has to offer, and lots of lights and lampions, noise breaks out, almost deafening.

Dogs bark, goats bleat, kids shout, and dozens of people are cheering for them, welcoming them with smiles and applause.

They’re frozen, just staring at everyone, too overwhelmed to react. Alec’s family is all here, his parents, siblings, and friends, and so is Magnus’, of course, and every town’s person they’ve come to meet, and grew fond of.

Magnus feels his heart leaping, tears blurring his eyes, but he’s determined to not cry, not just yet. He sees the Winters’, smiling fondly at him, and his chest swells double its size.

Alec is shocked to even see his second farm family here, having returned just for this occasion. Everyone looks so genuinely happy, beautiful, and excited.

It’s easy to see where they will be wed, a pathway of beautiful flowers leading towards a small, makeshift podest, and Ragnor is standing up there, smiling at them. Seems he will be marrying them, which is just another fantastic surprise.

Madzie is suddenly before them, carrying a basket with flowers, grinning up at them, then she turns, and starts to walk as music suddenly plays, and everyone seems to settle down.

Madzie is throwing the flowers on the path for Alec and Magnus to follow, but before they can, Alec’s parents are joining them, Robert taking Alec’s arm, and Maryse Magnus’, telling him how stunning he looks, and her son, too, and Alec and Magnus just share another astounded look.

Deep breaths, and they walk on to Ragnor, where Maryse kisses Magnus’ cheek, then Alec’s, and Robert squeezes their arms gently, before they both step away, and leave them there.

Ragnor’s speech is heartfelt, and funny, and the atmosphere is enchanting. They both seem as if they haven’t quite grasped that this isn’t a dream, their hands tightly entwined throughout the ceremony.

They didn’t prepare vows as such, but they’re not anxious, knowing exactly what they want to say, and that these words are only a fraction of what they mean to each other, which cannot be expressed in speech, only felt in their hearts; their desire and devotion to be there for each other their whole life long, whatever may come their way, always giving support, courage, and care, their love never wavering.

Izzy steps up with Nala, her collar suddenly gone, wearing one made of flowers and crops, just like Lucy, and even the Chairman is wearing a flower in his collar. Nala is carrying the box with the rings very gently between her teeth, and Alec almost loses his struggle with his tears when she drops it in his hand.

He knows Izzy made this happen, with everyone, of course, but it must have been her initial idea, and he just has no way of thanking her, but he can tell she knows, from her sparkling eyes, and bright smile.

They hug her, and thank her anyway, and Magnus is crying before he knows it once he sees the rings. They’re exactly how he described them to her not even six months ago. They’re perfect, and engraved with their names, the infinity sign, and Aku Cinta Kamu , just as he wanted.

Alec wipes Magnus’ tears away gently, crying himself just because Magnus is, and for a hundred reasons he’s unable to explain, just feels so deeply in all of his being.

They calm down a little bit, unable to stop smiling, and exchange the rings, and then they pull each other close, hugging, and kissing before Ragnor has even said the last words, and the cheers all around them start again, but for a few moments, all they’re aware of is each other.

They’re breathless, crying, smiling so hard their faces hurt, and finally turn to properly greet everyone there.

They get dozens of hugs, and well wishes, and animals and children are running about excitedly, and dance when the music starts to play, and there’s a whole feast on a row of tables, on the other side of the market square, something vegetarian for everyone, and something for the animals.

They’re both too overcome with emotions to say much at all, and thankfully everyone understands, and make space for them to have their first wedding dance.

They hold each other, swaying gently, gazing into each other’s eyes, kissing softly, comprehending wholeheartedly how the other feels.

People join them soon, Luke and Jocelyn luring them into another, faster dance, and they laugh, dance until their feet hurt, eat, and talk, letting everything sink in, enjoying every second, hoping it might never end.

There are games for the kids, but everyone can join, and they have more fun than they can remember, especially seeing how everyone, human, and animal, is so joyful on this extraordinary, profoundly special day.

Max has prepared a whole magic show with the help of Jace, Clary, Izzy, and Lydia, and Luke and Jocelyn join Magnus and Alec to watch with Cat, Dot, Madzie, Raphael, and Alec’s parents, and they truly feel a warmth, kindness, care, and love around them that is so wholesome it makes them both shed a few more tears, their bodies, and hearts thrumming with gratitude, and zest, they can only express by giving hugs to everyone over and again.

They take photos with everyone in the afternoon, after they finally found the Chairman who was sleeping high up on a windowsill once he had enough of the tumult, and they are more than curious about how they will turn out, every pose anything but perfectly staged. But it just makes it all the more special.

Sunset comes, and every lampion, fairy light, and lamp is turned on, and it looks even more splendid, and magical than they imagined.

The night moves on, and they’re standing at the side, hand in hand, just watching everyone, soaking up every impression and feeling, and, when Lucy, Nala, and the Chairman find them, they take a walk.

Stars are lighting up the night sky, and the smells of nature around them are amazing, and there is not one word, or a thousand, to understand how they are feeling at this moment, but it’s no matter, because they’re together, and they know.

Alec makes Magnus halt suddenly, turns and wraps his arms around him sideways, kisses his temple, and inhales him, shutting his eyes.

“You know?” He whispers.

“I do?” Magnus whispers back, smiling gently, turning in Alec’s arms to embrace him.

“You’re my husband now, and I’m your husband.” Alec grins, looking at him, and Magnus can’t but laugh at his husband’s mischievous expression, so adored, and beloved.

“Yes, I know, husband. We get to call each other that until we’re sick of it, but just a warning, I won’t stop even then.” Magnus smirks, his eyes sparkling.

“I’ll never ever get sick of it, or this, or you, or anything about us, I swear.” Alec leans in for a kiss, not letting Magnus speak again, rather opening his lips to taste his mouth, feel the familiarity, comfort, and arousal of it, he’ll never stop craving.

Magnus gives in, kissing Alexander more important than anything else, and they might stand there like that for quite a long while, lights and stars shining behind them.

They’re happily surprised to find the carriage - without the horses and driver - standing a bit further away, and they share a mere glance, smirking, and climb into it, their loyal four-legged friends following right away.

There are two blankets inside, and they wrap themselves up, snuggling against each other, Nala and Lucy at their feet, the Chairman climbing here and there, finally curling up in Magnus’ lap, purring with Magnus’ fingers in his soft fur.

Alec leans his head against Magnus’ shoulder, sighing deeply. Magnus glances at him, smiling, swept up in ridiculously giddy, wondrous feelings.

He brings their hands up with their rings, kisses Alec’s, caresses over them, watching in wonder. It really did happen. He gently presses his cheek against Alec’s palm, consciously inhaling and exhaling, slow, and wholly content.

“Was today your happiest day, husband?” He giggles quietly, and Alec grins.

“Mmm, no.”

Magnus frowns at that, taking Alec’s hand down, not having expected anything but affirmation.

“How not?”

Alec sits up, and looks right into his puzzled eyes. “It’s the most magical, brilliant, amazing day, but the happiest was, and is, every time I spend it with you, feeling this tightness in my chest and tingles everywhere, realising how much I love you, and you love me, knowing we have what most people only dream of, and that we can make, and share all our happiest moments for the rest of our lives together. There’s not one happiest, only-”

Magnus’ lips pressing on his vigorously shut him up. Magnus is crying, and holding Alec’s neck, kissing his lips, and then his face all over, his whole being weeping inside, overpowered by intensely miraculous feelings.

Alec decides to tell him these things every now and then, if that’s the reward he gets, but, honestly, he needs Magnus to know this, to never doubt, never forget, because he’s worth everything good in the world and beyond to Alec, and he will not fail to let him feel it every single day.

They kiss and embrace, and enjoy each other, the night, and the company of their three companions for a long while, then head back to the wedding site.

They spend some more time with everyone still present, kids and animals asleep by now, and Alec asks his dad to lend him his car keys as they bid everyone goodnight, thank them infinitely, and leave Nala, and Lucy with the others, someone will take them home in the morning, and take the Chairman with them to Alec’s dad’s car, and Alec drives them home.

The Chairman is happy to find a place to sleep on his own, and Alec takes Magnus upstairs, the shift of energy between them unmistakable.

They kiss each other’s lips, and faces, taking off each other’s ties, jackets, and shirts, hands roaming, wandering, playfully, diligently, fondly.

They feel a deep-seated promise of never ending affection, understanding, and compassion, in their bones, evident in every single touch.

They undress completely, move onto their bed, kisses, and touches growing in intensity.

Their fingers dig deeper into each other’s muscles and flesh as they keep stroking all over warm skin, their gazes conveying incredible devotion, a tenderness and longing to bring anyone to their knees, but their hearts jump with delight, a soulbound, invincible connection.

Magnus’ kisses are damp and hot on Alec’s face, and he shuts his eyes, every one of his senses on Magnus, their bodies subtly moving with the rhythm of their breaths, a light sheen of sweat growing on their skin, changing their scents, and the speed of their heartbeats, eyes bright with emotions and lust.

When Alec’s slick and loose, Magnus slides into him, their ragged breaths mingle, their smells layering in their noses, bodies pausing, savoring, only their eyes speaking.

Magnus takes Alec’s lower lip between his teeth, pulls carefully, and sucks it between his lips.

Alec starts to move almost immediately, followed by Magnus’ hips, a slow, sensual, flowing pattern, without any rush.

They share raw moans, tiny rasps, and gasps against mouths, cheeks, necks, and shoulders, unable to keep still, wanting, yearning to touch, to feel everything they possibly can from each other.

Alec’s licking and softly nibbling Magnus’ throat, exposed for him, sucking air into his lungs while his moans increase in volume, held too tightly by Alec’s grip, but not tightly enough, craving, addicted to being closer, always.

He’s dragging it out as long as he can, drowning in bliss and ardency, his mouth finding Alec’s over and over again, an endless, most delectable exchange of their inner feelings, perfectly happy, and fiercely loving.

Hot tears dwell in Alec’s eyes when the waves of pleasure overthrow him, tension and prickling sensations under his skin, his belly and arousal so taut it's nearly unbearable, Magnus’ hand granting heated relief, liberating his cries.

Magnus feels Alec tightening around him, their hot bodies sweat slicked and trembling, Alec's sounds heightening Magnus’ bliss, holding onto him until the last surge of ecstatic energy ebs away, slowed down breathing filling the room.

They’re wrapped up in each other, sighing contently into skin, and hair, tenderly caressing, holding, kissing, loving.

They make love until they're wonderfully drained, embraced in each other, wholly blissed out, and safe, falling asleep in visceral peace.
