Chapter Text

They stayed on the farm for three weeks. Taehyung enjoyed every second spent with his family, catching up on all that he'd missed and bringing Jungkook and Junghoon into the Kim household. As he'd expected, his mother loved Jungkook (and Junghoon). His father had maybe a little too much fun being the intimidating father figure; Taehyung knew he was just practicing for when his sister finally brought home a boy, and really didn't have any problems with Jungkook whatsoever, but the way his boyfriend's eyes would go wide as saucers whenever his father started questioning him was just too cute.

Explaining where he'd been for four years went about how Taehyung had expected. He didn't tell them everything about what had happened, but enough to reduce him and his mother into crying messes and make his father pull him into a tight hug that felt like coming home all over again. Through it all, he held Jungkook's hand tightly in his own and his boyfriend's warmth pressed against his side gave him the courage to keep talking.

Those three weeks passed by in the blink of an eye. His parents were, understandably, disappointed he wouldn't be staying for much longer. But Wando was where he felt safest. It was a feeling he was still getting used to, and didn't come very often. The panic attacks still happened sometimes, and when he was alone outside the farmhouse one night he had the horrible feeling someone was going to appear out of the darkness and take him away. It had been hard to stop shaking until Jungkook pulled him back inside and wrapped him up in a thick blanket, and Taehyung thought he saw understanding flash through his mother's eyes in that moment.

His father treated Jungkook nicer after that.

Three weeks after they arrived, Hoseok, Jimin, Yoongi and Wonsik appeared in a van loaned from the center. Introducing his friends to his family was all loud shrieks of laughter and hugs and dog barks (Soonshim was completely smitten with Yoongi and Jimin thought it was the funniest thing he'd seen in years). They stayed the night and set out the next morning for Busan, where it would be Taehyung's turn to meet the inlaws.

"Eomma says not to forget to eat the lunch she packed," Taehyung said, reading off his phone. "Or we're not invited back." That was a complete lie, and they all knew it.

“Considering we don’t have much else to eat, I don’t see why we wouldn’t,” Yoongi said, his head resting on Jimin’s shoulder, eyes closed. “We should have begged Jin to make us some meals for the road.”

“I’m a little sad you guys couldn’t convince him and Namjoon to come with,” Jungkook said. “Feels a little empty doing things without them.”

"We tried, Namjoon didn't want to leave Kyujong too short-staffed with the center in transition," Hoseok said, tapping his fingers against the wheel in rhythm with the pop song playing from the radio. "They want to start accepting new people by June."

“Doesn’t it seem a little weird to anyone else that the center isn’t going to be… just for us anymore?” Yoongi said, lifting his head to rest his chin on Jimin’s shoulder. “I mean, pretty soon we’re not even going to have a reason to come back and visit once all the old residents are gone. There’ll people there that don’t know us, don’t know about what we are.”

"A little weird, but I don't think it's a bad thing," Jimin said. "It'll be nice to see other people getting help when they need it. The people at the center are the best of the best."

"Does that mean you're never going to come visit me at work, Yoongi?" Hoseok joked.

“Only if you want me to ridicule your every move and undermine your work,” Yoongi shrugged. “That’s about the only fun I’ll have there. I mean, as fun as it is to walk in on you and your boyfriend trying not to look like you were sucking face two seconds beforehand, I’ll just wait to see you after work.”

Hoseok sputtered in protest and Jimin laughed, tilting his head to better see Wonsik in the passenger seat. "What do you think, Wonsik? You're gonna be senior resident soon."

Turning a little to look back at everyone, Wonsik gave them a hesitant smile. “That’s… weird to think about. I still feel lost when I’m there, like… I’m the new kid.”

"Namjoon and I will still be there with you, and Haewon," Hoseok said, glancing at the man beside him with a smile. "Not to mention all the volunteers." It hadn't been much of a surprise that the original escapees from the facility had decided to stay on and help Kyujong run the center when they could.

“Yeah… but it’s still not the same,” Wonsik said.

“Well it’s not like you’ll be there much longer either,” Jungkook said. “Isn’t Hyungjoon going to start on his therapy soon?”

"Yeah, he's just taking a short break after Tae's," Hoseok nodded. "It'll start when we get back to Wando."

Taehyung smiled, taking a picture of himself, Junghoon and Jungkook in the back seats and saving it as his phone wallpaper. "And then Haewon's after, and all the programming will be gone. It's exciting."

“I’m glad I never had to worry about deprogramming, sounds like an ordeal,” Yoongi said. “You have any idea what you’re going to do when you’re out Wonsik?”

“Uh.. not really no,” the man said, shaking his head. “Just… rebuilding I guess. Namjoon says I’ve got a ways to go mentally still. You know, all the stuff I did when I was one of those things… gotta get over all that.”

"One day at a time," Jimin said, squirming in his seat to make himself more comfortable. "It's a process, right? Got plenty of time… are we just about there because between yesterday and today my ass is flat from all the sitting."

Taehyung blinked, glancing outside the window at the trees. They definitely hadn't been on the road long enough to reach Busan. "Just about where?"

“Our lunch spot,” Jungkook said evasively. “Don’t worry, you’re going to like it. We should be almost there, Hobi?”

"Yep, the exit is coming up," Hoseok said, glancing at the GPS. Taehyung looked at Jungkook in confusion but was quickly distracted by Junghoon's babbles and gurgles.

The van pulled off the highway some time later, taking a couple small country roads through the trees. Gravel crunched under the tires as they pulled into a grassy parking area and stopped.

"Freedom!" Jimin disappeared.

“... You couldn’t even bring me with you!” Yoongi shouted after him. “I’m going to kill him one of these days.”

“Not today I hope?” Jungkook said, his attention turning to Taehyung. “We found this spot when we were coming to rescue you. I thought you’d like it.”

Taehyung's eyes were bright with curiosity, but he waited for Jungkook to get Junghoon safely out of the car seat before climbing out after them. He jumped down into the grass and straightened, looking around.

His eyes found the small lake at the end of the grassy park and widened. "Oh… wow."

“See? Isn’t it great,” Jungkook said, bouncing Junghoon a little as he looked back at his boyfriend. “You wanna take the munchkin and find a place to sit? I’ll grab the cooler and some blankets.”

Taehyung's lips stretched into a wide grin and he nodded, arms extending to take Junghoon from the younger man. "Let's go closer to the water, Hoonie," he cooed, pressing a kiss to one chubby cheek as he set off towards the picnic benches.

Jimin was spinning around nearby, happy to be out of the vehicle. He stopped to grin at Yoongi, eyes dancing. "Fuck I hate being crammed in a car for hours. I couldn't feel my legs."

Arms crossed, Yoongi was frowning at Jimin, and not really helping unload things from the van for their lunch. “Would it kill you to just once tell me before you disappear? Or, hell, take me with you? Something other than just up and leaving me somewhere?”

Jimin pouted at him. "Sorry. My legs were cramped. I didn't go far."

“I don’t care, we’ve talked about this Jimin,” Yoongi said. “You just running off on me? It hurts.”

"But I literally just stepped outside the van." Jimin moved closer, hands resting against Yoongi's elbows. "And you said already you don't like how teleports feel so I didn't think you'd appreciate literally going five feet away."

“No, all it takes is two seconds for you to say you’re going somewhere, I don’t care if it’s five feet or five miles,” Yoongi said, wrinkling his nose at him. “At least you’re not doing it in midsentence anymore but a heads up once in a while would be nice.”

"Understood." Jimin deflated. "I'll try harder with self-restraint. You know I'm not the best with that." He smoothed his palms along Yoongi's arms. "You know I'd always come right back, right? I'm like a boomerang."

“I know you and self-restraint don’t work well together,” Yoongi said, uncrossing his arms. “I just… get anxious when people leave. Especially if we’ve gotten into a fight or something and you’re mad at me and disappear cause you need to get away from me for a second.”

Jimin looked into Yoongi's eyes, trying to read his thoughts through them. "Is it cause of what happened with your ex…?"

It was hard for him to meet Jimin’s eyes, preferring to look over his shoulder at the water. “We got in a fight and he walked out, didn’t tell me where he was going or what he was doing. He took off on his motorcycle to cool off I guess and got hit.”

Jimin's expression fell, lips tugging down at the corners. "…I'm sorry," he said softly, fingers curling tighter around Yoongi's arms. "I didn't know the full story."

“How would you? I’ve never told you the full story of me and him,” Yoongi shrugged, the motion hampered by Jimin’s hands. “I guess I didn’t think I had to tell you that getting left behind sucks, figured you’d understand.”

Jimin sighed, his smile sad. "I do, but it was different for me. I knew exactly where my family was, the whole time. It didn't matter. So I guess I just… didn't think about the teleporting the same way you would."

“So despite me saying over and over again, please don’t, you didn’t think it was that big of a deal,” Yoongi said, unfolding his arms to let his hands slide down to take Jimin’s. “We’ve got a long way to go on this whole talking and communicating thing.”

"I didn't think porting outside a cramped van was a big deal," Jimin corrected, fingers curling around Yoongi's. "I've tried to be better about going where you can't see me land."

Yoongi sighed a little, pulling Jimin to kiss his forehead. “Can we build up to the idea of you porting five feet away without saying something? I know, I know it’s silly, but I’ve lost so much in my life that it’s hard not to feel like you’re running away from me.”

The kiss coaxed a smile from Jimin and he leaned in, returning the kiss against the corner of Yoongi's lips. "I'll work on my impulse control, and say something next time. For right now, wanna walk to the picnic bench or teleport there?"

“Walk,” Yoongi said, an arm going around Jimin’s shoulders. “You need the exercise. You’re getting lazy.”

"Excuse you," Jimin smirked at him as they started towards the table and the others. "That wasn't what you said when I showed you all the muscle I'm building from the docks."

“Just because you’ve got defined abs now does not mean you aren’t a little lazy,” Yoongi said. “You didn’t even roll off me the other night before disappearing into the bathroom to take a shower.”

"Cause the sooner I showered the sooner we could get back to cuddling, and the sooner you could go back to admiring said abs," Jimin winked.

“Still, lazy,” Yoongi said, poking him in the arm.

Wonsik had parked himself closer to the lake with his lunch, taking in the landscape and how good it felt to be outside. Of course he’d overheard that argument, everyone had. Neither Jimin nor Yoongi seemed to know what volume control was, in any given situation.

“They always fight like that?” he asked Hoseok next to him. “I can’t tell if they’re mad at each other still.”

"They might be, but they like getting each other riled up a little," Hoseok sighed, glancing at Wonsik with a small smile. "Which is why we got a room on the other side of the hotel from them."

“...Oh,” Wonsik blinked, glancing back at where Yoongi was cuddling against Jimin’s back and eating from whatever bites Jimin offered from his bowl. “I guess that’s good for them? I can’t imagine how they were the first month or so they were at the center. Kyujong says they made him want to tear his hair out on a good day.” He looked back at Hoseok, smiling a little. “You’re close with them yeah? You ever see them fight so bad they break up? Or they the type that never break up but should.”

"Oh… no. They broke up once." Hoseok's smile was a little strained, naturally loud voice lowering so that the others wouldn't hear their conversation. Not that they could, since Junghoon was holding a whole debate by himself. "And they were both miserable until they sorted themselves out and got back together. They're the type that squabble a lot but are really meant for each other."

“Yeah? Oh, that’s… kinda sweet I guess,” Wonsik replied, watching him. “So um, you think… we’ll ever be like that?” he asked hesitantly. “You know, meant for each other?”

Hoseok blinked at him in surprise before his lips curled into a heart-shaped smile. His hand found Wonsik's, warm fingers linking together. "I wouldn't have confessed if I didn't think we were. Whether Jimin locked us outside in the rain or not."

“Would you have actually though if he hadn’t?” Wonsik asked with a laugh. “I know I wouldn’t have. I wasn’t sure how you felt until then.”

"I know, I'm a chicken," Hoseok grimaced sheepishly. "I haven't had the best of luck with relationships. Good thing Chim likes to meddle in things, huh?"

“Guess so,” Wonsik said, scooting a little closer. “I was kind of surprised you were single… thought for sure a nice guy like you’d been snatched up already. Guess I’m lucky.”

Their shoulders brushed together before Hoseok wrapped his arm loosely around Wonsik's waist. "If you say so," Hoseok laughed, giving him a small nudge. "How're you enjoying the scenery?"

“It’s pretty amazing,” Wonsik said, glancing out over the lake. “Sometimes I still can’t believe this is real life, and not some weird dream my trapped mind cooked up. I owe you a lot for helping me so much. I know it was your job and all but… I appreciate it.”

"Hey. Whether it was my job or not I'd still be at the center every day ready to help," Hoseok said. "This just makes it easier to be there more often and not, y'know, have to worry about bills and stuff."

“What’s going to happen when I leave though? You still going to be okay working there?” Wonsik asked. “I mean, it’s a while away still.”

"Yeah. I mean… it's not exactly what I had in mind for a job, I'm trained as a mechanic," Hoseok snorted. "But I like working there. And technically my job doesn't end once all the residents are gone. I'll always be around Wando for those of you who stay on the island. If Kyujong wants me to stay, then I'll stay."

Wonsik’s expression pinched and he looked down at his plate of food. “I don’t know what I’m going to do when I’m able to leave.”

"That's okay. You can take it one step at a time." Hoseok smiled reassuringly at him. "We're all going to be here with you. I’ll be with you."

“I know, and it honestly makes it a little less scary knowing that,” Wonsik said. “Just a little though, it’s still terrifying.”

Hoseok leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to the corner of Wonsik's mouth. "Everything will work out. For now, let's just enjoy your time out, huh?"

Wonsik visibly calmed at that, and he smiled a little, looking up at Hoseok and nodding. “Okay. You’re right, no sense in worrying about future stuff.” He turned his attention back to eating, enjoying the scenery and curling his fingers tighter around Hoseok’s.

It wasn’t long after Wonsik had finished his lunch when he heard footsteps approaching and he looked over to see Yoongi drop down onto the ground next to Hoseok.

“They won’t stop cooing over the kid, needed a break,” Yoongi said, leaning back on his hands and looking out at the water. “You two aren’t going to start making out are you?”

"No," Hoseok protested, glancing over his shoulder to where Junghoon was being doted on by three adults. "He's going to be so spoiled when he's older. Are you and Chim good?" He looked back at Yoongi.

“Eh, nothing a bit of alone time won’t fix,” Yoongi shrugged. “Sorry about all that, we’re trying not to argue in front of everyone.”

"Nothing we haven't heard before," Hoseok snorted. "How did it feel being back in Daegu? You're not from the countryside like Tae is, right?"

“No, I’m a city kid,” Yoongi said, lips quirking slightly. “Didn’t really feel like I was back in Daegu so didn’t think about it.”

Hoseok leaned forward to rest his elbows on his knees. "You didn't want to try… y'know, finding your folks while we were in the area?"

“Wouldn’t be any point, they disowned me a long time ago,” Yoongi said.

Sensing this probably wasn’t something he should be really listening to, Wonsik murmured to Hoseok that he was going to get more food, quietly getting up and heading back towards the table with the others.

Hoseok watched Wonsik go out of the corner of his eyes before looking back at Yoongi. "…That's when you moved in with Jackson?" he asked quietly.

“Eventually,” Yoongi nodded. “I was homeless for a couple of months. Crashed with friends when I could, even got into a shelter for a night. But yeah, Jackson was moving to Seoul and asked me if I wanted to go with him.”

The corner of Hoseok's lips quirked sadly as he watched his friend. "Sounds like a great guy," he said. "I'm sorry for what you went through with your parents."

“It’s alright, it doesn’t bother me as much as it did once,” Yoongi shrugged. “After Jackson died, they tried to get me to come back to Daegu, saying that his death was a sign that was I was doing was wrong and… really pushed me for me to go to counseling. I was so out of my mind that I listened to them. Wouldn’t have ended up in that place if they’d just left me alone.”

Hoseok reached out, squeezing Yoongi's shoulder. "You've got a different family now. And, hey. Kyujong and Namjoon sorta count as parents with the amount of fussing they do."

Yoongi snorted at that, patting Hoseok’s hand on his shoulder. “Yeah, we’re a pretty dysfunctional family though. I know you all think it’s a joke or funny when I say you’re my pack… but it’s very for real for me. A pack is stronger than a family, no one gets shunned or left out.”

"I never thought of it as a joke," Hoseok shrugged, pulling his hand back. "Whether you call it a pack or a family, at the end of the day it's all of us together."

“True, though some I could do without most days,” Yoongi chuckled softly. “Long as I got you and Jimin, I’m good. Though, I know now why you and I never would have worked out.”

"Because you're absolutely smitten with Jimin?" Hoseok raised an eyebrow at the older man with a wry smile.

“Well there’s that,” Yoongi laughed, glancing over his shoulder to where Jimin was sitting. “He’s my alpha. I go where he tells me. He’s the one in charge and I do whatever he wants. You and me would have been two wills battling together without a leader.”

That earned Yoongi two raised eyebrows. "…Wait, back up. He's your alpha? What's that mean?"

“It means that he’s the leader,” Yoongi replied. “Haven’t you noticed that? Taehyung hangs on his every word and Jungkook follows Taehyung like a pup. It’s the dynamic of the pack, we all follow Jimin’s lead. He’s the alpha, I’m his mate, you and Jungkook are betas and Taehyung’s the omega. Everyone dotes on the omega. The betas keep the peace.”

Hoseok looked over their shoulders to where Jimin was playing airplane with Junghoon, Taehyung and Jungkook were watching like proud parents and Wonsik just looked amused. "Are you sure Jungkook keeps the peace?" he teased, smiling warmly at the sight.

“If it means Taehyung is happy, then yeah,” Yoongi nodded. “He and I are probably always going to squabble, but he’s a part of the pack, and he’s a good kid most of the time. You’re the real peacemaker here, you want everyone to be happy… even at your expense.”

"I wouldn't say that… I just didn't want to lose anyone," Hoseok said. "You're all my friends, I didn't want to think about going through my days without seeing any of you. Still don't." His eyes landed on Wonsik and he smiled. "Do you think Wonsik could be part of the pack?"

Yoongi seemed to consider that, watching Hoseok with a small smile. “Do you love him?”

"I do." Hoseok's voice was soft and warm as he watched Wonsik's shy smile at Jimin's antics. "I really do."

“Then he is,” Yoongi replied, looking away towards the lake. “I’m happy for you. You deserve someone like him. Someone who will treat you right, the way you deserve to be treated.”

"I'm happy with how things worked out," Hoseok said, doing the same. "You?"

“Yeah, I am,” Yoongi nodded, putting his arm around Hoseok’s shoulder and giving it a light squeeze. “I’m glad we met Hobi, and I’m glad we’re friends. Wouldn’t change a thing.”

Hoseok grinned at Yoongi, then grunted in surprise as Jimin slammed into their backs, arms wrapping around both their necks. "Hi," he grinned, resting his chin on Yoongi's arm trapped around Hoseok's shoulders. "What are we talking about?"

“If I said we were talking about how we should just ran away from all you crazy people would you hate me?” Yoongi asked innocently. “Cause if you will then we were just admiring the scenery.”

"It is gorgeous scenery. If you were planning on running away I guess Wonsik and I will just have to stop you." Jimin climbed around them to sit on Yoongi's lap.

"Junghoonie let's go see the water." Taehyung skirted around the group to make his way to the lake's edge, the giggling toddler in his arms. "Jungkook I'm borrowing your son!"

Sliding his arm off of Hoseok’s shoulders, Yoongi made sure Jimin was comfortable, wrapping them around his boyfriend’s waist and resting his chin on Jimin’s shoulder. “By literally sitting on me hm?” he chuckled, nuzzling and scenting Jimin’s neck. He watched as Jungkook passed by, a look of fond resignation on his face as he headed towards the water. Wonsik had also returned, plopping himself down next to Hoseok and leaning against him.

“Please take his shoes and socks off before you dump him in the water,” Jungkook said.

“I didn’t think the kid had it in him, but he turned out to be a really good father,” Yoongi murmured into Jimin’s ear.

"He did," Jimin grinned, watching the two youngest. Taehyung dutifully removed Junghoon's shoes and socks, kicking his own off before crouching at the edge of the water. "I don't think he can imagine not having Junghoon around anymore. The kid's got his appa wound all around his tiny fingers."

“Who are you kidding, that kid has everyone wrapped around his fingers,” Yoongi snorted.

It was true, even Yoongi found himself taking care of the kid, he didn’t even have to be asked. Maybe how the kid had come into everyone’s life hadn’t been ideal, and no one would have thought Jungkook would step up as well as he did, but Jimin was right, Junghoon was as much a part of the pack as everyone else.

Having Junghoon show up had made Jungkook grow up. He’d been a scared kid that ran away from his problems, preferring to hide away from the world in his best friend’s house than face the consequences of his actions. Yoongi knew though that it wasn’t Junghoon being dropped in Jungkook’s lap that had started his change. That had started the moment he’d met Taehyung.

Jungkook hadn’t needed to do anything he had done for Taehyung, or Jimin for that matter. He and Hoseok could have just forgotten all about the strange naked guy that showed up one day and never let him back in. But they did, and that was when Jungkook had finally stopped running away from things. Maybe he hadn’t realized it at the time, but Yoongi could tell by the way Jungkook acted now, the way he looked at Taehyung and took care of him when he’d needed it the most. Jungkook had to step up for his son, and for the man he loved as well.

If anything though, Taehyung had surprised Yoongi in more ways than Jungkook had, and watching their relationship bloom under his nose had been two parts vomit inducing, and one part sweet. Taehyung had come with a suitcase of mental issues, not to mention an out of control ability that could kill, and though Yoongi knew Jimin had helped, it was because of Jungkook that Taehyung had overcome so much. He’d worked hard to control his ability, taken on his own inner demons and forced himself to practice. The culmination of his efforts meant that not only did he have a new life with Jungkook, but also Junghoon, who Taehyung adored almost more than Jungkook.

They were the heart of the family, and everyone there and a few others that weren’t would do anything to protect them. But that went for everyone really. Yoongi knew that if something were to happen to Jin or Namjoon, Jimin would be the first one up and ready to fight, and so would he. Even if they weren’t with them for this road trip, and their presence missed, Yoongi would consider them just as much family. Though he and Namjoon didn’t always see eye to eye on things, and Yoongi often wondered if Namjoon got his degree out of a Cracker Jack box, he didn’t question Namjoon’s love and adoration for Jin. He’d followed Jin across the country, put up with ridicule (mostly from Yoongi), emotionally unstable patients, and even took on Jin’s abusive and sadistic ex boyfriend. No one could question how Namjoon felt for Jin, and much was the same with Jin.

Of all the patients that had come to the center, Jin had been the most grounded. The irony being how much he had lived his life in delusions, scared of his own reality between the torture he’d received from his ex and the experiments from the center. Namjoon had been the one to pull him out, to help him be a part of the real world again. If it hadn’t been at Namjoon’s prodding, Jin would never have left his room, interacted with everyone and become a part of something more.

Jin and Namjoon were what Yoongi strived to have with Jimin. The perfect couple. Or so he liked to believe anyway.

Yoongi had made his fair share of mistakes when it came to his relationships. The most obvious being how he’d handled Hoseok and his friendship. Yoongi didn’t like to admit it had taken him a lot longer than it should have to figure out where Hoseok fit in his life and his heart. Hoseok was his friend, his best friend, and he’d gotten it so wrong early on that he’d made a mess of everything.

It had taken a while for him and Hoseok to get to the point where they could be friends again, and now he looked at Hoseok like a brother. He hadn’t been lying when he said Hoseok was the peacemaker. If it hadn’t been for Hoseok, he wasn’t sure how his relationship with Jimin would have gone. He was always there to give advice when it was needed, a shoulder to cry on and an unwavering support. And now, Hoseok had someone he could lean on as well. Wonsik hadn’t been around long, and Yoongi felt bad that he hadn’t been able to spend much time with him, but Yoongi could tell just by the way Hoseok looked at him, that he was it. He was what Hoseok had needed. Yoongi was thrilled for him.

Not as thrilled as Jimin was though, and probably because he got to gloat about the fact that he was the catalyst for them getting their shit together.

If Yoongi thought about it, Jimin had a hand in all the relationships that had grown. If it hadn’t been for his accidental teleporting, he wouldn’t have met Jungkook or Hoseok, or Taehyung, or hell, even Yoongi himself.

Jimin’s struggles had mirrored his own in so many ways. They’d both struggled mentally with what had been done with them though in different ways. Jimin avoided it all, acted like it never happened even when confronted while Yoongi had hid from the world. Partly because he had been stuck as a wolf, and partly because being near other people meant he could lose them, as he’d lost everything else.

Meeting Jimin had been an accident, but it was the greatest accident that had ever happened to either of them. Jimin had coaxed the human out of Yoongi and Yoongi had coaxed the vulnerability out of Jimin. They were still getting used to each other, still figuring each other out and yeah, they still clashed from time to time, but that was just a part of who they were. Neither of them were going to back down from anything anymore, not even each other. They loved each other too much to give up. Plus, the sex was fantastic.

Lips quirking a little, Yoongi hugged his boyfriend tighter, breathing in his scent. That scent had almost driven him mad the first time he smelled it and had encouraged him to be himself again. It was the smell of home that Yoongi would never give up, for anything or anyone.

Glancing around at the others, Yoongi couldn’t help how full his heart felt. They’d survived horrors, and pain, and heartache; and they’d done it without giving up on each other.

Living as wanna be superheroes may be their new normal, but Yoongi liked to think it was their love for each other that defined them more than what they’d been turned into. They were a family now, and they had new lives they got to wake up to each morning because of it.

And that's it! 65 chapters later, Awake is complete.

It's been a hell of a ride, and both Saengie and I (Yeonah writing this time, hello!) are so happy so many people were willing to take the time to join us on this adventure. Thank you for all your kudos, your comments (all-caps or otherwise), and screaming with us on Twitter. You guys and hearing all your reactions make us smile <3

This universe especially holds a special spot in our hearts. As mentioned at the beginning, the prequel to this (Waking Up), was our very first story together written about 8 years ago. We've grown a lot as writers since then (as those of you who were crazy enough to go read that 110 chapter monstrosity know), but we've always planned to revisit Kyujong, Hyungjoon and the others. We're glad so many people loved their characters on top of our BTS boys.
