Summary
Anakin reaches for the fabric bunched at her waist before his mind can go to battle with itself. It’s not as if he hasn’t seen it all already—there is no dignity in war, or in makeshift medbays on desolate planets, or in transparent bacta tanks. Anakin wonders if she even cares, and if it should worry him if she doesn’t.

Obi-Wan blinked, shaking his head quickly as if pulling himself out of a daze. Anakin remained stock-still, remnants of blood and grime still caked to his clothes. “Nothing. Take your tunic off.”
Anakin barked out a laugh, his ribs immediately protesting. “Excuse me?”

New year, new experiences, and a whole pack of ghouls to satisfy during their heats and ruts again; what more could Swiss ask for! He looks forward to 2022 with unbridled enthusiasm, eager to assist his mates with their cycles and indulge in all the pleasure and sin earth has to offer with the ones he loves. But this year is to be the one where Swiss’ sin of pride is ruthlessly tested and the special, cherished, unique multi ghoul does not fare well. His mates may try to do the right thing for their own sake, for each other’s sakes, for Swiss’ sake even but in the end, everyone fails. One by one, Swiss’ relationships suffer from his bruised ego. When the negative self talk gets too heavy to bear, he copes the only way he knows how: with isolation, resentment and anger. Miscommunications, rejections, mistakes; nobody realizes how hard their actions harm Swiss, while he slowly spirals to the ground until it’s too late.

His shoulders ached, as well, and his legs, and he was certain that Obi-Wan’s must too. But Obi-Wan just watched him with those calm eyes. “One more. And then, perhaps, you’d care to tell me what this is about.”
Or, Anakin can't sleep. Obi-Wan makes a suggestion.

His grip tightens. “No,”
The word is slurred, quiet, she’s not even sure she’s heard him correctly. She lifts her head higher, braces herself on the bed to look down at him.
“What?”“You don’t have to go,” he says, clear now, eyes open a little wider as he really looks at her.
“I’m keeping you awake.”
“I like when you keep me awake,” he admits.
