Summary
After going their separate ways after the expedition, Solomon travels to America to reconnect with Cornelius. One problem: as per his letter, Cornelius now has a wife. Another problem that is no doubt completely unrelated: when Solomon arrives, Billy Gibson is already there, seemingly sharing a flat with Cornelius and his wife.

“Of course not,” Hickey says sweetly, pushing the blanket off of John’s lap. Hot shame rises to John’s face at the sight of his half-hardened yard, already beginning to strain against his trousers. “Wouldn’t want to go against His Holy Word, now would we?” Oh-so gently, he guides John’s hand to his fly. “That’s why we’re sitting down. See? No laying to speak of.”
Mr. Hickey visits Lt. Irving’s cabin to ask for advice on just how he might use his “crisis” to repair himself in the eyes of the Lord. This leads to a discussion on theology, and absolutely nothing else whatsoever. :-)

Summary
James and Francis will spend great stretches of time together on Terror - James will leave for the ship after supper, and won’t return until late in the evening, or, in some instances, will not be seen aboard Erebus until the early morning hours of the next day. He must spend the night on Terror, no doubt to have a few more moments of undoubtedly stimulating conversation with his new, dear friend! Indeed, were I not so pleased at the abrupt camaraderie, I would almost be envious of their intimacy!
Sir John reflects on the sudden closeness between Francis and James in his journal.
