Summary
Tim can say they're not partners until he's blue in the face as far as she's concerned; in the past nine months she's spent more time with him than alone, or in the company of people she'd actually qualify as her friends. She knows where he lives, she knows his lunch order, she knows when he's had too little water to drink and is cranky because of an oncoming headache. She knows that despite his snappish attitude on the ride over, this time it's bad – by the time they made it to the hospital, he was babbling nonsense and his eyes were rolling back in his head.

Summary
The first thing Lucy Chen sees when she opens her eyes is the police badge...The second thing that catches Lucy’s eye are his hands, which, once he brings them back together, are clasped so tightly that his knuckles press white through sun-tanned skin. His hands are broad, and he is sitting close enough that she can see small scars crisscrossing the backs of them here and there, close enough that she can see the way the light catches the light hair on his muscular forearms, propped against his knees. The light catches the hair on his head, too, which seems dirty blonde, maybe light brown if not in this lighting, but he is, and so his head is haloed in gold. The overall effect is one of gilding; he looks like he is made of something precious... Whoever this man is, it seems he has been waiting here a while. Waiting on her. With a badge.
OR
Lucy get amnesia after an assault during a manhunt. She doesn't remember anything that's happened in the past five years...including joining the LAPD and meeting Tim. He remembers everything.

Summary
It’s okay to feel a tug in her chest and a dull ache in her stomach when she thinks of Tim, when she imagines the familiarity of the two of them tucked away in a shop. That it’s okay to miss him, to miss patrol, to miss home – that if UC work is something she thinks she may want to do long-term, she should probably get used to it and make a new home out of that feeling.
Or: Tim and Lucy and the phone calls they share between LA and Sacramento.

He wasn’t dating Ashley as some consolation prize because he wanted someone else. And the suggestion that he had buried feelings for Lucy? It was sleazy at best, dangerous at worst. Lucy was his rookie, she was now his aide. That sort of rumour could end her career.
The implications for him weren’t great either.

“It's strange being back in LA, you know? I wanted to make sure my kids have the things they know when it comes to Christmas this year, but,” Genny shrugs, glancing at Lucy. “I haven’t done a lot of the traditions we used to have in a long time...you know, me, Tim, our parents. I miss it.”
