    Summary

It’s like breathing, how Rahu doesn’t even have to think about it when she reaches up to tangle her fingers in Shalom’s hair, pulling her closer the way she always does when they kiss—then her entire body tenses when she feels someone else kissing their way up her body, over the hard and chiseled plane of her stomach and then over the swells of her breasts, then along the column of her neck, the lips against her skin strangely familiar, until Shalom finally pulls away and leaves Rahu staring up at—

    Shalom.

Rahu blinks. No, that can’t be—She looks up again at Shalom, who smiles back down at her like she’s in on some joke that Rahu couldn’t even begin to wrap her mind around, then looks down again at—Shalom. Another Shalom, smiling that very same smile right back at her.

Rahu’s head spins. It feels like all the air has been knocked out of her lungs. “Why—How—”

“You tell us, Rahu,” Shalom—the one whose lap her head is resting on, the first Shalom—teases, and the other Shalom says, “This is your dream, after all.”

    Summary

At first, Navia tries to wait it out quietly. She doesn’t exactly hate Clorinde—or well, that isn’t the first word she’d use. Some sick part of her heart that will always beat with sympathy for Clorinde nearly can understand the burden of a lifetime of obligation to a nation, to her master, and to Navia’s father. But even that awareness is bitter on her tongue. How many nights in their relationship did she spend trying to get Clorinde to open up, to let herself be taken care of instead of always taking care of Navia? Clorinde never got it, and could never quite put down her endless vigil.

Even now, Clorinde still upholds that oath to something greater than herself, carving out her legacy in the name of something more important than any human life. Navia will never know that nameless something, but she still knows Clorinde, and so the thought makes her feel ill. What utter salt in the wound to spot her at the edge of her vision but never be afforded a proper ending to their saga. Clorinde never was good at goodbyes.

So maybe one day something in Navia just snaps.

    Summary

“I was just lost in your eyes, Yukong-jiejie!”

“Liar,” Yukong accuses fondly. “You weren't looking anywhere near my eyes.”

And Yukong has grown older, softening in ways Feixiao had not anticipated thirty years ago, when they'd fought side-by-side on battlefields across the stars. Yukong had been fiery passion, and Feixiao had met that fire with a ferocity of her own, borisin powers flaring from within. They'd both been more reckless at the time—hardened edges and steel to cover up the gentler bits not suited for war.

(But then Feixiao thinks of a particular night under the stars. She doubts Yukong remembers it, but that's alright—Feixiao can remember for the both of them.)

or, Feixiao and Yukong after thirty long years.

It slips out without warning, as many things do. Vi has never been very good at holding her tongue, but it seems to be especially true whenever Caitlyn is by her side.

She plucks her heart out like it's a fruit on a tree. Her lips caress its red surface. Ever so gently she takes a bite–the liquid inside floods her mouth with a taste so bitter yet so sweet.
