We’ve been given an insight on our heroes’ pasts: Emma Fairfax before she became Melinda, Alfie before he became Seng, and somewhat Copernicus, but what about Dimitri Dynamo, the magician we encountered in episode 2? This story deals with Dimitri’s past as a struggling magician, the Russian ballerina who stole his heart, his blossoming career, the initial stages of his new family, and the obstacles that separated him from them forever…

This has been such a fun, really interesting and creative fic to keep up with! Despite how little screentime Dimitri gets in the show itself, I really love the way this writer not only writes his backstory but really brings him to life in ways that make sense to both the story within the show as well as what little we got to see of the character himself! Plus the way this is written is so good like. I really really enjoy the writing style and I just super love how both Dimitri and his spouse are fleshed out in this; they both feel like real, three-dimensional people and, again, it's just a really creative take on what his backstory could have been!

Summary
As they travel back to his homeland, Edred can't help but be assaulted by memories of the past. Namely, the events behind his meeting with Melinda and Seng that would eventually lead to his joinging them in their fight against the Evil and his own departure from home. But most importantly, given the current rough patch their relationship is going through, he can't help but remember those days he first fell in love with Melinda.

This is such a worthwhile read that I highly recommend! Written before The Heart of Kings aired, it explores a really interesting alternate direction the episode could have taken with past events and I absolutely adore it with all my heart and soul. I love everything about how this is written right down to the OCs the writer created for this fic that really bring the world to life as well as make sense for the characters, even with what actually ends up happening in the episode itself! There's so many cute, funny and also really touching and incredibly sweet moments in this that are absolutely worth checking out; it's just overall really inspiring to read
