“Not once,” Rook answers, resisting the urge to cover her face.
“On occasion, in my younger years,” Emmrich answers, picking one up to inspect it; it"s a soft purple color and the sweeping shape of it is graceful -- Rook is not surprised at all that that"s the first one he gravitates towards, “although never with pieces so well-made.”
“That one is made of dawnstone,” the shopkeep says. “It"s a particularly conductive material. Warms up quickly. Easy to enchant.”
“Enchant?” Emmrich asks, interest piqued.
The shopkeep’s eyebrows pop up in excitement. “You"re not familiar with the enchantments on the market?”
Emmrich glances at Rook, who shakes her head. “We"re not!” he says, and, as always, seems excited about the prospect that he"s about to learn something new, regardless of subject matter."

Summary
Lucanis has never been a deep sleeper. One cannot be, in his line of work, and Spite’s initial hostility and escape attempts only worsened what was already a fitful habit. But then, he and Spite formed their alliance. But then, he and Rook grew close. But then, they all killed a god or two together, and Treviso needed rebuilding, and Rook developed a tendency to appear through the Diamond’s Eluvian for a late supper at Villa Dellamorte. The days were long, and Rook’s visits were joyous, and he slept.
Or: “They could do anything to my unconscious body (but I know with absolute confidence that they won’t hurt me)” is a pretty intense idea for a guy who survives through hypervigilance.

If Kaoru wants to beat him, all he has to do is figure out the goal of the game before Kyoya wins it.
